An hour has passed since Raven, Tai, and Marrow had arrived. An hour has passed and now everyone is at least cool down for a good bit for the refugees and the newcomers. So They have taken the time to explain where they are and what they're doing here.
"Wait hold up. So you're basically telling us that our world that we lived in was destroyed by an ACCIDENT?" Tai said as he looked at Ruby and Weiss, who nodded in confirmation.
"So these sub-creators are the very beings of the multiverse and that we are in an alternate plane of existence that they only know about. Not only that, but then you guys are watching an alternate universe of our world?" Marrow questioned
"With your enemies no less?"
"That pretty much sums up our situation right now, yes." Weiss said
"And that we need to wait for three months for it to be repaired?" Tai asked.
"Yes dad." Ruby said "But we don't have much of a choice. We're stuck here until our world is fixed and that Shadow has been nice to us. Well, that is until you guys come here." Ruby finished. Still being a bit shaken by the amount of power that Shadow possessed from earlier.
"I don't know about this Ruby." Tai said "This whole thing, the war, the relics, Ozpin and Salem, our world being broken, and everything. This-this is too much."
Tai had never wanted things to be like this. With the revaluation of the Shadow War, Salem's immortality, Ozpin's secrets, and now this? This is way too much for him to handle. Not only that but he just saw Raven got killed right before his eyes. (Even though she is alive now thanks to Shadow's reluctant resurrection, but it was the principle of the matter.)
"Dad, look." Ruby sighs "Right now we're stuck here until our world is fixed up. We couldn't do much of anything and Shadow had taken away our weapons, semblances and magic. Plus even if we did have them, they wouldn't much, so this is the best option for the meantime."
Tai can only sigh at his daughter's decision. He knew for a long time that when Ruby got her mind set on something, she would not budge until she gets what she wants or something done.
Just like her mother.
He had accepted for a long time that he needs to understand that he needs to be supportive of her decision and that he can't keep babying her for all of her life. He was glad that RUby was safe.
"Wait a minute. Where's Yang?" Tai asked his daughter with some concern. Ruby can only look away in a bit of nervousness as did Weiss.
"Well...She was being punished by trashing a bar by Miss Goodwitch on the other end of the hall." Ruby said, making Tai groan and Marrow look confused.
'She trashed a bar?" Marrow asked
"Again?" Tai groaned as he slapped his hand on his face "What is it this time?"
"She trashed a bar, because she didn't get the information on her mom." Weiss said. "The manager didn't have any info on her and she defiles him and the security."
"Oh Oum…" Tai said as he knows how reckless Yang is when it comes to some things.
He can't remember how many time that he had to pay-up for damages that his eldest daughter caused over the years. He even have to pay a few strings to make sure that she was safe and pay for the damages. But not only that, it cost him a great deal on his wallet. But at least his daughters are safe. And that Yang is getting what she deserves from Glynda.
As this was going on, the rest that are just new to the war are having a talk to their respective children. Well, all except the Schnee's. But other than that, things have calmed down a bit for them to be placed back in their previous seat. Marrow was seated next to Winter and Tai and Raven are seated next to each other.
Though Raven was glaring daggers at Shadow who just basically drank a bottle of Corona.
Never in her life was she so humiliated, outmatched, and worse of all, she was KILLED. Killed in such minimal effort, not even the Spring Maidan's power had any effect on him, and he even laughed at her face!
But...the power that he possessed…. It scared her.
And she was not a person to be scared of something so easily. Not even Salem possesses that kind of Power that Shadow has.
But she promised to herself that whenever she got the chance, she would kill him.
"Alright guys, the screen is about to start." Ruby said, getting nods from the rest as they are ready for who is going to b e the next person.
It was a cold day in Mantle, the weather of the environment as people are in their homes and are waiting for the upcoming blizzard that is scheduled to hit through-out the week.
"We're starting off in Mantle again." Oscar said, getting nods from the rest.
'Are we going to see Aleister again?" Velvet asked with a bit of fright in her voice.
"I hope not." Blake growled quietly as she had grown to resent the redhead. While the rest look at the weather condition and some of them cringe as it.
"Dude, I hate to be trapped in that." Sun shivered as they nodded in agreement.
"You will be surprised how dangerous the winter weather gets in Mantle." Adam said. " I've been there several times before, some were in the winter time and let me tell you, those are the worst to be in. Not only with the weather but with the over-demanding request for heat. but there were times for rolling black-outs to appear every now and then. So it sucks to be there by the time. Even more so when you just have a blanket to cover you from it."
"He's right." Surprisingly both Weiss and WHITLEY secretly thought, as both Schnee's did experience some trip to Mantle but with different reasons. Weiss is known for keeping an eye on Dust shipments and on occasions went with Joque for her performances at his parties. For Whiteley it was nearly the same, but it was more business purposes when his Father couldn't make it and he had to take his place. Dust shipment, board meetings, dealership etc.
While the rest of the civilians are in their homes, warm and cozy. We found a small little girl that is no older than 4 years old. She has white skin with pink hair and a pair of cat ears, and the only clothing that she has was a t-shirt that was several sizes too large for her.
"Oh dear Oum…" Pyrrha said as they saw the little girl.
"Why would a child be out there in the weather like that!" Kali shouted "Where are her parents! Is no one taking care of her!?"
"Kali calm down, please." Ghira said as he grabbed his wife. Trying to get her to calm down since he knew how protective Kali is when it comes to children.
"She is about to freeze to death." Yatsuhasi said in concerned as they saw the shivering and fragile form of the Faunus girl. "If she can't go somewhere warm then it would not end well for her."
"Well she would have a very difficult and slim chance of survival with the weather." Fox said "Considering how Mantle is one of the most racially-offensive cities in Remnant, next to Atlas, most of the Faunus population have a difficult time staying in houses and motels. Even the cheap ones. They mostly stayed in abandoned warehouses, alleyways, and even trash bins just to keep warm."
"Well aren't you a ball of sunshine." Nora retorted with sarcasm in her voice, along with the rest who looked down and worried about the girl's health.
"Just thinking realistically. No offense Velvet" Fox apologized to his teammate, who in returned with a nod and small smile.
"It's ok."
Cold, that's all she's feeling right now. Snow poured down on her head as she shivered and clutches her t-shirt tighter as she was trying to get warm, but to no avail. She lay near the trash bins was the only place she can call in for the night. The girl's Breathing started to go ragged and shaky, as she feels her entire body start to freeze up. Soon the Faunus starts shaking violently and proceeds to blow her hands up trying to warm them up but it just makes them even colder.
The Faunus child started to shake violently as she felt her stomach growled loudly for food. She clutches her stomach as she tries to suppress her hunger. It's been weeks since she has gotten any food, she often eats out from trash bins, and if she got lucky she might get some half-eaten food or left-overs from others. She groans as she feels like she's starting to feel like she's about to faint.
"She needs to get somewhere or she'll die!" Coco exclaimed as they just helplessly watched the innocent child shiver and lie there to the ground.
"She's just a kid...she doesn't deserve to end like this." Emerald muttered as she looked at the kid with sadness. Don't get her wrong, she saw a lot of things on the streets. Robberies, murders, and theft. Discrimination was one of those, but that doesn't mean it was easier to watch and experience it go down. Especially to a kid who is no older than four.
Kali can't bear to watch as she then shifts her gaze towards Shadow, who was talking with Ozpin as he just ignores the others. It made her furious about the lack of attention that the host was showing and the lack of answers on why he was so nonchalant about the viewing.
Her gaze then shifted back at the child on the screen and felt her heart break at the site. Where are her parents? Why would a little girl outside to the freezing cold of Mantle and left for rot.
Kali remembers her own difficulties back in her youth. What Faunus doesn't?
She remembered how she had to make the tough decisions back then and work on jobs that no one would ever really thought that she would do. Ranging from theft, pickpocketing, a bit of prostitution, to pornograhphy and even to murder. She never liked it, any of it, but it was necessary just to have food on the table to feed her and her family.
But now seeing the little girl on the screen...It breaks her heart just to see it. Even though she had spent a lot of time in Menagerie, it was never easy to see the struggle that her kind had to face.
"So…hungry…So…cold…" The Faunus weakly muttered as she felt like her body starting to shut down as she can only think of her mother. How she wishes to see her again. Her warm smile, nurturing attitude, and her sweet melodious voice rang through her ears as she just sang. A sad smile grace to the little girl's lips
"I'm coming home, mommy…" The girl mutters as she slowly closes her eyes, waiting for death to claim her. Not noticing a shadow loom over her and a voice of urgency.
"No, NO!" Kali yelled as the rest just looked on in shock as they saw the young girl died before their eyes. You would think that After Aleister's introduction that they would expect things to be a bit more easier, but it didn't.
While Aleister's was brutal and filled with bloodshed, this scene was depressing and has the hurtful truth in Faunus struggles in society.
Given how even children that did nothing wrong, were treated less than the dirt that they step upon, having to claw, scratch and climb for even the tiniest scraps of food that they desperately needed. Crimes that were falsely placed upon them, people ridiculed them, belittled them, and spat at their faces and people won't bat an eyelash. And no matter what they do, they will always face racism for stuff that was out of their control….
And they just sat there and took it, hoping, praying that whatever god that was listening to them made things ok. BUt usually...the gods are gone...and they're left alone.
It was the hurtful truth throughout the world that people had just walked away.
Not only was it hard to swallow, but it was a little kid. A kid that was too young to face the harsh life and was taken away.
Ironwood pinches the bridge of his nose as he feels the sadness on seeing the young one die. Adam balled his fist, Blake had one hand covering her mouth as she tried to stop a tear from slipping out from her eyes. Hell even Cinder closed her eyes while looking down at the site. While Some look at the screen with tears threatening to come out, some look away and send their condolences to the child. While some are openly crying. And it wasn't hard to determine who it was.
"G-guys, come on." Sun said "It is not over."
"What are you talking about?" Weiss said to the faunus.
"There's gotta be a reason why Shadow wants to show us this. Plus, if this is one of the people that we're going to see in this universe, then there is a chance that she will live." Sun said getting the others to realize.
"T-that does make sense." Pyrrha said.
"But it doesn't mean that it was easy to watch." Blake countered, getting a nod from the redhead.
(Somewhere in a penthouse)
The girls moan as she feels she is laying down on something comfortable, warm, and just feels pleasant.
"Oh thank Oum." Kali said as the others gave a sigh of relief that the kid was ok and was now in a warm place.
But realize something isn't right. She weakly opened her eyes as she yelped at the bright lights. She covers her eyes trying to get used to the lights as she looks where she's at. Once her eyes adjusted she realized she was inside of a very expensive-looking room. Filled with expensive furniture, a bar, the kitchen is just a few feet away as she can see the ceramic counter and windows, a large balcony that has a great view of Mantle and a hot-tub.
"Wow, now that is a place that I wouldn't mind staying at." Mercury whistled as the others nodded at the look at the place.
"That must've been a fortune to stay for just one night." Blake commented.
"Yeah, there were only a few places that Mantle had that kind of luxury suite." Weiss said "I have been in one myself and it was just relaxing. The food there was good too."
"No need to flex your wealth, Weiss." Ruby said, making the Schnee blush a bit.
The Faunus girl wonders how she got here but is immediately cut off by her starving stomach. She quickly clutches her as she notices food next to her. Fresh food that is still steaming hot. Fried chicken with a large loaf of bread, a bowl of mash potatoes, with a casserole, a good tuna sandwich, and hot chocolate, she couldn't help herself and started to scarf down the meal with gusto.
While she was scarfing the meal down, she never noticed a figure who was looking at her with a smile. The figure went closer and released a cough, getting the girl's attention as she stared at him for a long while her cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk.
"AWEEEe!" Ruby queued as did Coco, Velvet, Pyrrha, and Nora at the scene.
"She looks so cute! She reminds me of Blake when she ate all the tuna that we have back at home." Kali said, causing the daughter mentioned to blushed. "I remember that she used to climb on the cabinets and sneak at night just to eat 10 to 12 cans of-"
"MOM!" Blake yelled out of embarrassment, causing the others to laugh.
"I remembered she once stole some back when she was in the White Fang. " Adam said quietly, but enough for a few to hear.
"How many cans did she stole?" Sun said.
"Oh no, not cans. She stole a WHOLE tuna fish...completely with the head, scales and everything. "Adam said, shocking the rest. "She didn't leave her quarters for weeks, and once she did, oof, she had to be taken to the med-bay because of all the tuna that she ate." He finished shocking some of the audience.
"…" The girl didn't say anything as she just stared. The figure who she was staring is a man that is in his forties, wearing a formal black suit, with a white shirt, and a naval blue necktie on his hands lay several rings, one on his left ring finger, his right pinky and right index finger. He had black slick back hair. He smiled at her expression as she swallowed the food.
"I see that your awake, little one" the man said as his voice was humble and gentle. The girl just shyly looks at him, not knowing what to do at this point. She had several encounters with people on the streets, but most of hers are hatred and disgust, she got beaten up a few times but she manages to make it through. So it's no surprise that instinctively recoiled herself as she saw the man's hand come near her head.
"So he was the one that saved her." Blake said, thanking the man saving the child. But that didn't mean she didn't see the kids reaction and she didn't blame her.
"But that doesn't mean that he did out of his own kindness." Adam said.
"Well we just see what comes next now would we?" Blake said as she glared at Adam causing him to sigh.
The man stops as he sees the little girl's reaction. Understanding how she was never used to hospitality, giving how Mantle is to fauneses (Or fanai? What is the plural term for Faunus?) So it's no secret that the girl acted the way she did. So instead he just reaches for the hot chocolate and gently places it in front of the girl.
The little girl waited for the pain to come only for her to not feel anything. Confused, she opened her eyes and saw the mug of hot chocolate in front of her before looking up to see the man's gentle and caring smile to her.
"Drink up, you ate a lot of food without drinking and that might cause you to choke." The man said to the girl as the girl's little hand hesitantly grabs the cup and looks at the man.
At this, Blake gave a smirk towards Adam, who in return, gave her a wave of his hand, causing the Belladonna to irk by the response.
"T-thank you…sir" The girl shyly thanked the man as he just nodded.
"Your welcome little one, I'm just glad that you are ok after we found you freezing to death," the man said as the girl can only look at him, confused. Then they heard two voices, they looked at the door and saw a woman and a child. The woman is beautiful, having blonde hair that reaches up to her back and a bit of makeup to make her features pop, wearing a long white silk dress, several bracelets on her wrist. The boy is the same age as her with black hair just like his father, blue eyes, he was wearing a simple black shirt and jeans and shoes.
"Hello~" Qrow whistled at the sight of the woman on the screen, as did Mercury and Sun. This results in Qrow being hit by the back thanks to Ruby, a sigh from Emerald, and a double head slap by Blake.
"OUCH!" All of them said at the same time
"Ahh, Eline, Jacob. How was your trip?" the man asks while kissing his wife making the girl smiled and the boy releases an 'eww' sound.'
"It went well, Johnny. Jacob here was so excited to get here" Eline said as her husband smiled and nodded. She notices the young girl looking at them as the said girl release a squeak and ducking under the chair. Eline looks at her husband
"Who is the little faunus?" Eline asks Johnny
"She is the girl I found in the alley a few hours ago. She just woke up" he told her honestly as Eline nodded and approached the girl with Jacob following his mother's lead. The girl can only get nervous as the mother looks at her before her eyes soften.
"Are you ok?" Eline asks the girl, who gave a hesitant nod, before asking
"W-where am i?" the girl questions Eline as Johnny take his wife's side
"You're inside our penthouse, we found you passed out outside on an alley." Johnny told her as the girl looked at them in shock. They saved her? They saved her and they gave her food, food that people would've thrown to the ground to her as she picks it up and eats it. Only for them to call her an 'animal' or 'freak'. But no, these people just handed it to her and treated her differently than the rest.
"What is your name, child?" Johnny asks the girl as she gave them a nervous and shy look.
"S-sute…Sutekin Hoshi, sir" Sutekina answered the man as both parents nodded.
"Sutekina Hoshi. Thats a cute name." Sun said, getting nods from the audience.
"Aweeee! Ghira look how cute she is!" Kali squealed as she looked at the little Faunus girl. "She reminds me when Blake was like when she was her age!"
"MOM!" Blake yelps in embarrassment.
"Where are your parents?" Eline asks the girl as they didn't expect the girls started to tear up.
"M-mommy and daddy…Their-their-"Sutekina choked by her tears as she started crying. The adults in the room didn't do much for the parents to make the connection that Sutekina's parents are no longer with her. They can only look at her with pity and sadness. To lose someone so important to you and been through so much at such a young age.
At this scene, the audience can only look at the screen with sadness as they quickly deduced what happened to the kids parents.
"The poor girl." Ghira said
" I just want to hug her…" Ruby said as the image of the crying child breaks her heart. She knows the feelings of losing your parents, well in this case her mother, and she could sympathize with the young girl. The only difference is that she has her sister, her dad, and her awesome drunkle Qrow while the child has no one to take care of her or either care for her.
"Just another day of being a Faunus…" Adam mutters with a growl and clenches his fist. No matter how many times he had seen it, the pain still resided there and would never go away. I mean how could you? It was never easy to feel the pain, especially when you have felt it yourself one way or another.
She didn't ask for this, she didn't ask to be born a faunus, to be discriminated against, hated, feared. They saw what others did to faunus's, discriminated against them, feared them, and hurt them in any possible way they could, no matter the age or gender. But not them. They didn't see a freak, or an animal, to them, all they see is a little girl that has been put in the wrong place. Eline couldn't take it anymore as she quickly went in and embraced Sutekina. The girl gained a moment of shock as she just accepts it and continues to let out her tears.
"So they understand what the Faunus's are going through and are willing to step up for them when they want to." Marrow said with a small smile on his face.
"But the only question is what would they do now? Or importantly, what would happen to sutekina?" Jaune questioned as he received nods and thinking expressions from the audience.
"They could adopt her." Ruby suggested.
"That is not a bad idea. But that would lead to complications when they get back towards Atlas." Weiss said as she recognized Johnny's and Eline's clothing. They were from one of Atlas's top tailors and jewelers. It would usually cost a ton of money that can only be afforded by high-ranking politicians, rich business men and women, and some celebrities.
Now weiss isn't saying just because they are wearing Atlasian clothing doesn't mean that they come from Atlas automatically. But from what she has seen so far is basically pointing it. How else could they manage to afford such a luxurious penthouse, wearing one of the finest clothing, and the way they carried themselves with purpose and elegance, and yet, with a sense of power too.
But before they could think a puff of smoke appeared and a piece of paper went to Weiss's lap. The heiress raised an eyebrow and picked up the paper and saw that there are texts written on it.
"What does it say?" Ren asked as the others looked at her.
"It says 'Who said that they were from Atlas?'" Weiss said before seeing the name. "From: Shadow." She finished as they turned their attention towards the host and Ozpi, who were in the middle of a conversation, while Shadow was mixing a pair of Manhattans. He noticed the looks and gave them his own that said "What are you staring at? Get back to the episode." which they did.
Jonny and Jacob can only look at the sidelines, with sadness and confusion respectively. Jacob can only look at his father's curiosity on his face
"Let's give them some space, Jacob" Johnny said as the boy can only nod at his father, leaving the two alone.
(7 years later in Vacuo)
"That's one hell of a timeskip." Mercury said, getting nods from the rest.
"C'mon Sute! You can do better than that!" A voice of a man with dark skin, dreadlocks, wearing a muscle shirt, sports shorts, and shoes is holding a blade and a paddle. The man's name was Shelton Esmer. Shelton looks at the now 11 years old Sutekina, now wearing an indigo shirt and training pants and shoes as she was in a fighting stance that she is hunched over moving her body back and forth as she moves her hand in and out.
"Thats uh...you know what, what is she doing?" Whitley said as the rest are confused on what Sutekina is doing.
"I think that it is a fighting stance of some sorts. Though it is very unorthodox." Tai said as he examined the fighting stance of the young Faunus.
"What kind of stance would it be to be that low and in such a weird position?" Marrow asked as he never saw any form of fighting style that is that. He is a military special operative, so it makes sense that he wasn't a hand-to-hand specialist, and that he knows very little knowledge on hand-to-hand combat that was outside the ones that he was trained with. But Marrow knew that there isn't a fighting stance that resembles what he was seeing right now.
"It's called Copoeira." Shadow said as he wasn't looking. "It is a form of martial arts that originated about a hundred years or so ago. It is a type of martial arts that were created by slaves during imprisonment and are disguised as a form of dance that uses acrobatics, upper body and lower body strength all in the same time, fooling the guards thinking that it was a harmless dance that wouldn't do much. Boy were they're wrong…." He finished as he gave the drink to Ozpin.
"And you know this how?" Mercury asked with a raised brow.
"I know this because I've done research on fighting styles during my spare time. And this is by far the most underrated style when it comes to fighting. Well, to me that is. Since it focuses more on the legs than anything else, but there is no doubt that if done right, it can be unpredictable to hit. I mean, ask Yang when she went against Neo for the first time. She got her ass handed to her since Neo has a similar form that came from it. Which is what Sutekina is going for; flexibility, fluidity, and unorthodox hits that are almost impossible to hit her since she is constantly moving and you have to keep your guard up constantly." Shadow said, satisfying the audience with his explanation, and Neo giving a small smirk and a wink for the compliment when he mentioned her kicking Yang's ass.
Sutekina has gone a long way from being the starving child from the streets. Gone her frail, fragile body as it was now healthy and strong. She saw an attack as she drops to her hand, but instead, she adjusts her footing and spins her entire body to the left, and keeping up her momentum she then releases a strong kick to the paddle making her bend backward and back. She went back to her original stance before blocking several strikes, as she cries out in pain but endures it. Shelton did an unexpected leg sweep getting Sutekina off guard as she fell on her back.
"Your progressing well, Sute." Shelton said as he gave a hand which Sute takes it "but you have to remember to keep your guard up. Your opponent would do something unexpected as he or she uses anything to get an upper hand on a fight" Shelton informs the pinkette making her nod as she looks at him.
"Yeah, I got it, Shelton." Sutekina groans as she dusts herself. It's been a full seven years since she got adopted by the Banner family. After she had cried herself to sleep, her dad (Jonny) asks his family to adopt her, it took some convincing (mainly Jacob) but eventually, they adopted her, which was the happiest moment in her life. After the blizzard passed they immediately went to Vacuo where they live. Though there is one problem. Turns out two months later she finds out that her adopted family was part of a mafia: Unity. Which consist of both faunus and humans that strive for power and order.
"A MAFIA!" Kali shouted in disbelief as the rest looked shocked that the girl would join a crime organization. The reaction causes Shadow to raise an eyebrow at them.
"Huh, I guess that there are some duplicates from here to Remnant. And one of those just happened to be a mafia." Shadow thought as he went back on what he was doing. While ignoring the expression on Kali's face and her rant.
"Kali, please, calm down." ghira said as he tried to calm his wife.
"Calm down? CALM DOWN!" Kali shouted. "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO CALM DOWN WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT SUTEKINA WENT TO A LIFE OF CRIME!"
"Have you seen her like this before?" Weiss said to Blake, who nodded.
"Sometimes." Blake said as she remembered how a very rare occurrence where she saw her mom act like this. The last time she saw this was when she and Ghira had a fight for a while, which led up to him taking the couch.
To which he had taken it outside.
In the rain.
For hours…..
"Of all of the people that had adopted her she-" As Kali went on in her rant, the others notice that they can't hear her voice, but she doesn't seem to notice, nor care. The other looked at Shadow, who did a zipping motion on his mouth, before pointing at the raging Belladonna.
The others nodded as they quickly understood what he meant and went back to the screen.
They are one of the most powerful groups in Vacuo. Spreading wide almost through-out Vacuo and from shops, some dust mines, to weaponry hell even some political standpoint.
"Damn, that's a lot of influence and power." Mercury said as the rest looked shocked at the amount of power that the group had.
"Wait, isn't Vacuo filled to the brim with illegal trading, black markets, and other criminal activity since it was free from the government?" Weiss asked, getting nodes from the rest and an answer from the least expected person that she thought would get it from.
"You'd be surprised how deep the criminal underworld is. Especially in Vacuo." Adam said. "Since there aren't a lot of government officials in the country, unlike the rest of Remnant, any crime is a near pass. Stealing, prostitution, child-loabour , and even some cases murder. It is also widely known that it also held some valuable and dangerous resources that were illegal from the rest of the world." He said to the stunned group, well the people who knew him from either his records or personally.
But it wasn't the person that he had answered to is what got them, no, it was how he said it that caught them off guard.
When Adam was informing Weiss, they didn't catch a scent of malice, anger, or disgust in his tone. Unlike towards Joque, Adam's tone was clear, relaxed, calm, and leveled. It is as if he never have an issue with Weiss or the Schnee's
Blake could only look at Adam like he had grown a second head. She was being baffled on how calm he can be when he speaks to Weiss. Adam hated the Schnee's from his very core, along with humanity and there is no doubt in her mind that Adam would relish the moment for him to kill one.
But to see him act so calmly to Weiss, without a strain on his voice.
(A/N: just for the record, I'm not trying to resolve Adam's issue with the Schnee's in this chapter, since his hatred towards them runs deep and it would be a dick move to just resolve it that easily. He just gives out a calmer expression and he will still struggle with the Schnee's at one point to another, but I will keep things peaceful for now.)
It alienated her and wondered if this was the same person that she had to kill. The same violent extremism that had manipulated the hatred, the anger, and the strife of a lot of Faunus's into his own vendetta. And now...He just acts there likes nothing happened.
And it scared her…..
"It also remains near racial-free country for Faunus." Marrow said after he got over his initial shock. He remembered learning about the country in his academy days.
"All you have to do is survive the harsh conditions and your accepted either you're a human or Faunus."
Sun nodded at that statement as he remembered how harsh the desert is to some. How so many people tried and failed to pass due from dehydration or heat exhaustion. And the Grimm… Oh the Grimm in there are ferocious, unpredictable, and cunning. Using the desert as it's advantage to hide, stalk, and wait for them to let their guard down before going in for the kill.
Sun was thankful that he was lucky enough to be strong to survive and strive in the environment, but that didn't mean that he didn't feel bad or sad for those who couldn't.
They are one of the most powerful groups in Vacuo. Spreading wide almost through-out Vacuo and from shops, some dust mines, to weaponry hell even some political standpoint. Of course, she didn't know what it meant at first but as she grows older she started to understand more about it. But to be completely honest with herself, she actually didn't really care if she is a part of a mafia. The people she meets are actually pretty nice and the mafia actually gives some of their wealth and resources back to the community for the people. Other than that, she and Jacob actually grow to be quite the pair of siblings. Sute's upbeat and positive personality, Jacob's quiet yet collective one really made them a good duo.
"So they're not just about keeping the wealth to themselves, but they give some back." Ghira said. "Considering the state of Vacuo now, I wouldn't be surprised that there will be some people who wanted those supplies badly."
"I don't know, it seems like a horrible idea. I mean, just giving they're supplies all willy nilly would be giving them a problem in the future, considering the limited resources that they have there. Even with all that influence. " Coco said
"True, but I don't think that they should be worried about that. Considering that these guys have that much food on their plate, they see no point of hogging it all since they still have more and they can get more. PLus they're establishing a business deal with them. So in both cases it's a win-win." Mercury said, surprising the group a bit. The silver-haired teen looks at them and shrugs.
'What? I'm a trained assassin, I know how the business goes."
For Jacob, It was tough accepting that you have a sibling and for a child that a big deal, but soon both of them started to hang out and bond. They often prank each other or their parents, train, help each other, and even taking jabs. While Jacob wanted to lead the mafia one day like their dad, Sutekina wanted to become a huntress. Ever since she heard what they are she wanted to be one, so at the age of 5, she begins her training with her brother.
(9 years later)
Now the 16 years old Sutekina, dawning a pair of white knee pants, brown greek-style sandals that reach up to her calf, a black sports bra that hugs her moderate C-cup breast, a maroon-colored vest that have gold trimming on the edges, short arm warmers that have armored plating. On her waist is a brown belt attached to a pair of sheath swords and her shotgun/glider on her back. She had hair tied up into a ponytail as she walked with Jacob who was wearing a pair of jeans, a formal vest, and a long-sleeve shirt, a pair of gloves, a chest pistol holster.
"Another timeskip?" Nora moaned. "Ugh, this is making me bored…"
"Damn she grew fast." Sun said as he got a nod from the rest.
"Well it has been a good nine years since she was adopted." Tai said.
"Though that outfit seems a little...showing." Weiuss said with a hint of jealousy as she saw the Faunus chest, and how she was still smaller than her.
"Oooooh...Is someone jealous I hear?" Coco teased, causing Weiss to blushed in embarrassment.
"Hmp."
"Hey, Sute" Jacob called the pinknette faunus as she looks at him with a 'hmmm' sound
"What is it Jacey?" the ravenette groan at the nickname but he just let it slide
"What do you think dad wants? He calls you and me in his office in the middle of training" Jacob said as he and Sutekina walk down the hall leading to their dad's office. Sutekina can only shrug not knowing what is about.
"I wonder why they're being called for?" Ruby asked as they saw the duo go through the halls.
"We can only find out" Sutekina simply said to her brother as he nodded to her. They stop a few meters ahead, opening the double doors as they were greeted by their father, sitting on his chair reading paperwork. His office is spacious, easily enough to hold 8 people to have a meeting. A large window that he can see through the landscape of Vacuo. Despite being a full dessert, the view was not actually bad, both Sutekina and Jacob often sneak their way towards his office or one of the highest rooftops in the city to get a view of the sunrise or sunset.
"Nice digs." Qrow commented as they saw the room.
"It does hold a certain charm to it." Marrow agreed with Qrow as he took on the design of the room. Having a mixture of a rustic and modern design, giving it a sense of comfort, warmth and easiness, while also giving an aura of professionalism, pride, and power.
Despite some settlers constantly moving, the villa was the only place, other than Shade, that people stay into and feel safe. And yes that means, travelers, merchants, and families alike can stay for a time being. The only time you can permanently stay is you either join or be part of the business. Of course, it won't be easy as you need to pass some tests, giving how Vacuo is not particularly fond of rules and regulations.
Johnny looks up to his paperwork and smiled at his children.
"Sute, Jacob. Good to see you two" He greeted them as he went towards his children. Sute gave him a large hug, While Jacob nodded. Johnny had aged well for his age, just having full white hair and a few wrinkles are just a noticeable difference. Johnny laughs as he hugs back Sutekina.
"So why did you call us here, old man?" Sutekina asks her dad as he gestures them to take a seat, which they oblige. They saw their father came to his seat as he looks at them.
"You two are probably questioning why i called you here, right?" Johnny asks his children as they nodded.
"To be honest, I'm retiring" Johnny simply said, making both of his children shocked.
"What!" Jacob and Surekina exclaimed as they heard
"Why?" Jacob asks his dad as Sute nodded
"So he is going to pick his successor." Ironwood said. "I think it's a bit too soon for him to be retiring."
"You're right. At this age he would be in his mid-forties, and neither Jacob nor Sutekina are ready to lead." Tai said as he saw the scene unfold.
"Maybe he thinks that one of them is ready, or he just has THAT much faith in them." Yatsuhashi said.
"Jacob, Sute. What do you see here passing the window?" Johnny asks them, making them confused as they look through the window in his office. They can only see the villa and pass the desert landscape.
"I don't get it." Sute said as Jacob nodded in agreement. Johnny can only chuckle
"When most people look at Vacuo, all they see is an empty wasteland. An empty wasteland that was once filled with resources, minerals, and where people can strive through and would have risen between the other three kingdoms.'' Johnny said as he continued to look out the window "But every time I looked, every village, every oasis, I just can't help but wonder if we could do better. Thrive harder. The only sense of order is Shade, but it's not enough. That's why I formed Unity. To make a safe haven for people to be safe and flourish. Have somewhere where they can not worry about the Grimm or others. And possibly bring Vacuo back to its former glory" he turns back to his children who are a bit amazed.
At that part, it causes some people in the audience to feel bad. They read on how the once barren wasteland was a thriving paradise filled with minerals and resources that would make the country one of the most resource-packed continents in all of Remnant in today's standards.
Too bad that that didn't happen and they wondered If they hadn't been invaded, they would have wondered what would be it's condition and that could've been achieved too.
"But I can't seem to accomplish it by my current age. Jacob, I want you to lead Unity to that goal" This shocked the two as their dad just announced the new person who will take the position. none more so than Jacob who looks shocked. Obviously he looks up to his dad a lot and wanted to lead the mafia, but to be this soon?
"So he's using his influence and power to help restore Vacuo back to its former glory." Ironwood said. "That is a difficult task to do."
"Difficult? It's near impossible." Qrow said. "Considering their current state, it would take years, if not decades to be able to pull it off."
"Dad...i don't know what to say" Jacob muttered as Johnny put his hand on Jacobs's shoulder with a proud smile on him.
"You'll be fine, son. I believ-no I know you can accomplish this. Unite and strive the mafia into a brighter future." Johnny reassured his son before adding " if you don't want it then i guess your sister might take it" he jokes making the teen immediately shakes his head
"HELL NO!" The father and daughter only laugh before the retiring mafia boss looks at Sutekina
"Sute, after we picked you up from the streets, me and your mother knew that you are destined for great things. You are not the scared little girl anymore, but the strong beautiful young woman that is standing right before me. Now ongoing her way on becoming a huntress. You made us proud" Johnny said with a proud smile as Sute nodded "Sute, since you are going to Vale to attend Beacon and would be leaving in a month. I want you and your brother to promise me something, alright?" Johnny asks them as they nodded
"Promise me that no matter what, you two should never turn your back on each other or the ones you love. Because family is irreplaceable, Valuable, and it is an important gem that can rarely be found from others'' Johnny said to the two as both Sutekina and Jacob both look at each other and smiled
"We will" Jacob said
" You can count on us, dad. besides Jacob needs to reserve his pretty face for his special lady" Sutekina jokes while Jacob lightly punches her arm, but that didn't stop her laughter.
Johnny can only smile at his children. Thinking on how far they have accomplished and the bonds they shared, it makes him proud.
Once the scene is done, the TV automatically shuts off giving the signal that the viewing is done.
"Well that was a more cheerful introduction." Ruby said, getting nods from the others.
"The fact that she was part of a crime organization is what you call cheerful?" Weiss said with a raised eyebrow.
"The fact that she was adopted and has found a loving family." Ruby said.
"Yeah I agree." Blake said "I'm glad that she managed to get out from the streets."
"Should we be concerned that she is part of a mafia though?" Velvet said
"Normally we should, but considering how Unity established itself as an order that had spread throughout Vacuo, I don't think we would have to worry much. Nor would Sutekina cared." Fox said.
"Fox's right. From what we learned, Unity acts more of an organization of order in the country, besides Shade that is. So much so that it established itself on the same level to the academy itself, which is the only form of law and order in Vacuo." Blake said.
"Well, they seem like good people, for a bunch of thieves that is." Joque said/sneered.
"Some crime organizations have sets of rules of their own." Neo text. "The criminal underworld isn't a lawless system like most of you guys are thinking, there are boundaries, rules and regulations, and its own system that works for bandits, criminals, hitmen, and so on."
"Really?" Ruby questioned, making Neo Nod.
"It ranges from hired mercenaries, assassination attempts, hijacking, weapon smuggling, to illegal substances. There are more to it but you guys get the picture." Neo texted back.
But before the others could say anything, they saw something crashed onto the couch and turned to see a battered and bruised Yang. She was black and blue all over, they saw markings from her riding crop, they saw that there was a large red spot on her ass that made them realize that Glynda had used the tool that Shadow gave her. Her face was beat red and is littered with slap marks, dried tear stains, and even some of her air is losts.
The others stared there in shock at the condition that Glynda had done, before turning their way to the punisher herself and saw that she was heading to the bar with a somewhat delighted expression.
Shadow looked up and gave a look to the blonde.
"One pina colada." Glynda said, making Shadow nod.
"Hot and bothered?" Shadow said as he grabbed the ice. While ignoring the students shock expressions on how he said it so casually.
"Yes…" Glynda answered, shocking the rest further. Shadow chuckled a bit as he looked back at the audience.
"Take five, guys. You will be needing it for the next viewing, since it would be quite a long one." Shadow said as he went back to mixing.
