Eight months until the end of my WWE contract…
Ding! Buzz, Buzz! I ignored my phone as it dinged and buzzed. I was watching Randy Orton and Seth Rollins bump a bit in the ring. I was back at Raw again. I had the same crew from last time accompany me as well. This time I was filling in for Joey Mercury. After talking with the crew around me I looked to check who had texted me.
Hey! Are you going out with the crew again tonight?!
I was a little surprised to see Adam Page had DM'd me. I mean, he had DM'd me before but only ever asked about WWE.
I messaged him back and said:
Hey! I didn't know the crew was going out again! Ooof, guess I was too much to handle last time :/
At that moment, Sammy Zayn and Kevin Owens walked up to me.
"Wow, Randy bumping in the ring before his match tonight, Hell must be frozen over." I laughed at his comment.
Randy was coming up the ramp and stopped to chat with us. "Haha" Randy said while rolling his eyes. He gripped a towel and dried the back of his neck. "Hey I heard people are going out tonight, what's all that about." Randy spoke to me then looked at Kevin and Sammy.
Sammy chimed in, "actually that's what we were going to talk to Sassy about. Yes, we're all going to go out again tonight. Randy if you can keep up with Sass here, we'd love for you to come." I smiled and rolled my eyes as I shifted my gaze to Orton.
"Oh is someone back to their drinking shenanigans?! Man, I love drunk Sassy! Hey, count me in fellas!" The guys laughed, Randy went up the ramp and disappeared to the back.
"You guys are dumb! Who's all going this time?" I asked curiously.
"Same guys and gals as last time." Kevin said.
"Alright, why not," I said nonchalantly as I shrugged my shoulder.
"Nice, we'll see you there." The guys walked down the ramp towards the ring.
I walked to the Women's Locker room. I asked the ladies if they would be going out tonight as well. The majority of the girls said they were. I was excited to be going out with them and the rest of the guys.
I looked at my phone and saw that I had another DM from Hangman.
Oh, not at all! You were the most fun out of all of us! You should definitely come out with us again. I am personally inviting you out with us tonight :)
"Oh, who's got you smiling from ear to ear?!" gushed Lana as she smiled at me.
I smirked and rolled my eyes, "oh my gosh, no one! Are you and Miro coming out?" I said, definitely trying to change the subject.
Lana just smirked at me, but responded to my question, "Yes, we are! I am so excited that you are coming out with us! We are going to dance all night!"
"Girl, yes! I am excited to be going out with my people tonight!" I said as I shook my hips from side to side. We all laughed.
Later that night.
We were inside the bar, sitting in the VIP section with drinks in our hands. We were getting a feel for the music and our drinks. I saw a group of men coming into our section. I noticed it was the indy guys; the Young Bucks, Adam, Chuck, and many more. We stood up to make room for the guys in our lounge area. I shook the guys hands as they passed by. Matt and Nick introduced me to their wives, Ellen and Dana. The last guy I greeted was Adam. We smiled at each other and I stuck my hand out. I was a little shocked when he took my hand but also went in for a hug. He smelled amazing. And he looked even better. His hair was in a low bun. His shirt was unbuttoned at the top and he wore cowboy boots. He took a seat next to me. I was a little surprised he didn't sit next to his buddies.
"I see you ladies got a head start already!" he said to me, motioning to my drink. My heart thumped a little faster as I realized that his face was about an inch away from mine. I cleared my throat.
"Oh yea, we don't waste time. The drinks are really good!" I nodded my head as I showed him my girly red drink.
"Whaddya drinking?" He asked. "A Washington Apple," I smiled as I told him. He shook his head in approval.
A waiter came up to Adam to take his order. "I'll have a scotch on the rocks and another Washington Apple for the beautiful lady." He slipped the waiter a twenty dollar bill.
I tilted my head as I looked at him, "aww, thank you!"
He gave me a genuine smile and said, "of course," and winked at me.
For some reason, my heart was pounding out of my chest. And I could not stop smiling.
Surprisingly, Adam and I spent the entire night talking… and dancing. I danced with my girls too, but I also danced with Adam. But, we spent the majority of our time talking. I remember he kept me laughing the entire night.
"So what made you want to switch over to NXT? Weren't you champ before you went to NXT?" Adam asked curiously.
"Yea...I just needed a change. I was getting bored, honestly." Adam had a shocked look on his face, followed by, "bored?"
"Yea, I just wanted something new and fresh. I felt like I had accomplished everything I wanted at WWE. I needed a challenge." Adam had a half smile on his face. "Man, it must be nice to feel accomplished …. that you've given everything already."
"I don't know about nice. More scared, honestly. That means I have to figure out what's next. What's life after WWE going to look like for me." Adam looked at me once again with a stunned look on his face.
"Life after WWE? You mean you don't think you'll stay in the WWE, Now, Then, and… Forever?" He had a serious look on his face, which quickly turned into a joking face.
I rolled my eyes at him. "You're hilarious," I said in a monotone voice. He laughed.
"Come on, your girls are calling ya," he motioned over at Lana and Naomi who were waving their arms at me, motioning me to get on the dance floor. He grabbed me by the hand and guided me to the dance floor where he watched me dance the night away.
After that day, Adam and I communicated in some way, every single day. We texted everyday, talked on the phone, Snapchatted, and even FaceTimed. And we didn't talk about WWE or wrestling all the time like before. Adam and I got to know each other on a personal level. This exchange continued for about 2 months until we planned to meet up with each other one day, when our schedules finally allowed it.
