Six months later, June

Jack and Elizabeth readied themselves for their last trip to Seoul. This time, they were bringing Joshua home.

While they were gone, Jana and Myka were moving back in for the summer. It would be quite a change to have everyone back in the house but they had missed the girls so much.

"Passports?" Elizabeth said.

"Check."

"Josh's bag?"

"Check," he nodded, touching the small blue bag.

"Nerves?"

"Check. Yeah, it's scary, isn't it?"

"Yeah. I can't wait but I just hope he adjusts well to living here. With us."

"He loves you, Beth."

She stepped into his comforting arms. "He loves you too, Jack."

"He's getting there. It might be a little rough the first couple weeks, but he will be fine."

"And us? I mean we aren't twenty one anymore."

"Nope but we are more experienced and we know how to be parents. And one thing that hasn't changed is that we are a team. You and me, Beth."

"Josh is a lucky little boy then."

He kissed her softly. "I agree. Now let's go bring our son home."

Jana arrived home about an hour after her parents left for the airport.

She parked her car and sighed at the load of things she had in her backseat and trunk. It was seriously going to take fifteen trips from the car to her room.

She'd been meaning to go to the gym and work off the "freshman fifteen" that had skipped over Myka and settled on her hips and thighs. What better time to start?

As she got out of the car, she saw a man, a very handsome man, and a little boy about four or five walking up the driveway. "Morning, miss."

"Morning. What can I do for you?" Jana asked.

"I wanted to introduce myself and my son to you. We just moved in yesterday, across the street."

"Hi," the smiley little boy said, waving at her.

"Hi! What's your name?" she asked, kneeling down.

"Gabriel Alexander Waylon. I'm four!" he told her.

"Wow that is a big name, bud."

"I'm big!" he told her.

"Of course you are. What's your dad's name?" she asked, taking a peek up at the handsome guy standing there.

"Vincent."

She gave Gabriel a high five and stood up. "It's nice to meet both of you. I'm Jana."

"Are you just moving in?" he asked, glancing at the car.

"Kind of. I just finished my freshman year at Purdue so I'm home for the summer."

"Oh ok. Well, do you need help taking your things inside? It might take forever otherwise."

"Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't know you. I'm not sure if my parents would like me letting someone we don't know in the house."

"Understood. Well, Gabe and I will be on our way."

"Thanks for offering."

"You're welcome."

She watched them walk down her driveway and up the driveway at their house. She had a feeling he wasn't a murderer or something but she met him literally five minutes before.

"Wait!" she called just before they wandered in their front door.

She walked closer so she wasn't yelling. Once she was in their driveway, she smiled. "I really could use some help."

"Glad to. Just so you know, I've never been arrested or done anything that I should be arrested for," he told her with a wink.

Gosh, he was cute. His light brown skin, greenish brown eyes and just a hint of stubble on his face. And his lips. So full and soft looking.

She shook her head and blushed. "Um, that's good."

They walked back to her car and she opened the trunk. He grabbed a big box, she handed a small one to Gabe, and took her suitcase for herself.

As they arrived at the door, she unlocked it and headed in. "So, no one else is here?" Vince asked.

"Not sure that is something I should tell you either," she told him, teasing.

"Sorry."

"That's okay, I was kidding. Um, you can just leave these things here by the stairs. Closer to my room."

They worked together for the next twenty minutes and chatted between boxes. He was very easy to talk to.

After they were done, she had a thought. It was lunch time. "Are you guys hungry for lunch? I make very yummy mac and cheese!"

"I love mac and cheese," Gabe told her.

"Do you like hot dogs in it?"

"Yes! Can I have milk too, Jana?"

"Of course."

They walked into the kitchen and Gabe climbed up on the stool at the counter.

"Can I help?" Vincent asked her.

"I got it, but you can get Gabe his milk if you want. There are sippy cups in the cupboard and regular cups. Not sure which he uses."

"Can I ask why there are sippy cups in here? Or is that too personal?"

She simply answered, "They belong to my brother."

"Oh okay."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure," he said, pouring milk into a sippy.

"Are you married?"

"No, I was. I married my high school sweetheart, Layna."

"That was my mommy's name," Gabe told her. "She died."

"Oh, I'm so sorry, sweetheart," she told Gabe.

"It's been two years," Vince told her. "And just so you know, I'm not the type of guy who would be over at a woman's house that wasn't my wife's," Vincent told her.

"I knew that, I just had to ask."

"Fair enough. So, you have a brother. Any other siblings?"

"I have a twin sister. Do you have any siblings, Vincent?"

"You can call me Vince and I have three brothers."

"Are you the oldest?" she wondered, turning on the oven to boil the water for the shells.

"Youngest, actually."

"What do you do for a living?"

"Daddy is a policeman!" Gabe said proudly.

"He is, huh?"

"Yup."

"What do you do with Gabe when you're working?"

"I don't know yet. Before, we were living close to my parents but now, I don't know."

"I can watch him. Until I find a job that is."

"You wouldn't mind?"

"Nope. My parents are going to be gone for about ten days. Gabe would keep me company."

"Gone, huh?"

"Yeah. They are adopting my little brother from Korea. They are going to pick him up and bring him home."

"Are you adopted?"

"Nope. My parents decided they wanted to have more kids, so at this point, adoption is their option."

"That's a great thing to do. There's a lot of kids out there that need parents."

"Yeah. I agree. I want to adopt too once I'm in the position to do so."

About fifteen minutes later, the three of them were sitting at the counter eating mac and cheese with hot dogs.

"Just so you know, Gabe is only ever this quiet when he is filling his face with food."

She laughed and looked over at Gabe who was eating with his face right down by the bowl, ignoring everything else.

"So when do you start work?" she asked Vince.

"On Monday. Are you sure you don't mind watching him?"

"Of course not. We will have a lot of fun. We can go to the zoo and to the water park and the aquarium."

"You don't have to take him to all those places, Jana. In fact, I'd prefer if you just hang around our house or here most days."

"Okay. That's fine. We will still have lots of fun."

West Lafayette, Apartment A2

"Mykie, I ordered a pizza," Silas told her from the doorway to her bedroom.

"Thanks."

He walked up behind her as she stared out the window. He put his hands on her shoulders. "Myka, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." She turned and smiled. "I promise."

"You think your dad will have an issue with us being roommates."

"I know he will but I'm an adult and we have another roommate too. We have separate bedrooms too so we aren't sleeping together."

"You sound like you're trying to convince yourself too."

"Maybe a little." Her hand reached up and touched the necklace he bought her six months before.

"Look, if you want to go home, maybe Max can find someone to take your place." Si stepped back and crossed his arms.

"Please don't be mad."

"I'm not. Just confused. You say we are adults and old enough to make our own decisions but you still are so worried about what your parents will think. I'm getting mixed messages from you."

"I want to stay. I want to be here. I want to see you everyday and work at the clinic with you. I'm staying," she told him, a sure look on her face.

"Great." He leaned down and gave her a soft kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Come on guys. Do you have to be all sickening and happy like that?" Max said from her doorway.

"Hi, Max. And yes we do," Si told him, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Max rolled his eyes and walked away toward the larger room he and Si were sharing.

"So when are you going to tell your parents?"

"Well, I'm not sure. They are flying to Seoul right now to get Josh. They'll be gone about ten days...so maybe never?"

"Funny."

"When I talk to them next, I'll tell them."

"Good."

Back in Cincinnati

"Thanks again," Jana said as they stood at the door.

"My pleasure."

"Mine too!" Gabe said, smiling away. Then he ran forward and gave Jana a big hug around her hips.

"I'm glad to meet you, Gabe."

He smiled up at her and then stepped back.

"Can I have your phone?" Vince asked her.

She handed it to him and watched as he entered his number. "Just in case," he said with a wink.

"See you both soon," she said as they walked away.

She texted Vince the moment he was out of sight. "I think we should have coffee sometime. What do u think?"

"I agree. Tomorrow morning? Come over for breakfast. I make a mean spinach and feta omelet. 7:30?"

"I'll b there."

When Jack and Elizabeth landed in Seoul, they were ready to see Josh but it was late. They had to wait until the following day. This time they had reserved a house through Airbnb so they rented a car, put all of their bags in it, including Josh's car seat, and drove off, relying on Google Maps to get them there.

Elizabeth texted the girls and let them know they'd landed safely as Jack navigated the busy streets with ease.

"Hi, Mom!" Jana texted.

"Hey, baby. R u both getting settled?"

"Well, kinda."

"What do u mean?"

Jana called her a moment later. "Jans? What's going on?"

"I'm home and moved back in and I took a babysitting job too."

"That's good, sweetie. How's Myka?"

"She's fine. I think."

"Jana Grace, spill it."

"Its not my story to tell, Mom. All I'm saying is she decided not to come home with me."

"Why not?"

"Please ask her. It's her life now. Not mine."

"Alright."

"Are you mad?"

"Mostly just curious."

"I love you, Mom. Please give Dad and Josh a kiss from me."

"I will. I love you too."

Jack stopped at a stop light. "What was that about?"

"I'm not sure. Jana made it home but apparently Myka didn't go home with her."

"Why?"

"I don't know but I'll call her and find out once we get to the house."

Jack had that feeling that it had something to do with Silas Shepherd.
