A Boy like You
*Down in the village, the Prince's personal carriage pulled up at the entrance*
Abigail:*off-screen* There's nothing like some fresh air and a change of scenery.
Shadow:*off-screen* I wish it were that simple. *he stepped out of the carriage, wearing a red cape over his head & clothes. he then helped Abigail out**on-screen* Come on, Maria. *she meowed & reluctantly followed her Master. no one noticed Ivo hiding under the carriage. he came out & secretly followed the group* Ah. It feels so good to be outside the castle walls. Nobody knows who I am. So, which one was your house?
Abigail: More of a room, really. We couldn't afford a house.
Shadow: Oh, I didn't mean -
Abigail: I know. Third floor on the left. Did all my studies there.
*As they walked, Ivo staying right behind them. They then stopped at a stall selling flowers. Shadow picked a yellow daffodil, sniffed it, & gave it to Abigail*
Shadow: A perfect example of yellow narcissus.
Abigail: My favorite! But, you knew that.
*She put the flower behind her ear & they walked a little farther. Until something caught Shadow's attention*
Shadow: Hmm, that smells delicious.
*They turned towards a stall selling soup*
Abigail: I'll be right back.
*She walked over to the stall. Just then, Shadow heard the sound hammering. He turned & saw a rabbit family closing up their shop. He frowned sadly as he watch the family pick up their few meager processions & leave the village. Suddenly, he heard something else*
*Sonic singing*
*off-screen*
Like a bird that flies in the morning light
*It was Sonic. Sitting on some stone steps in the fountain in the town square, wearing a blue cape, playing guitar & singing*
*on-screen*
Or a butterfly in the spring
When your spirit rides on the winds of hope

Shadow: Let's go listen, Maria.
*Maria meowed as she followed her Master to the sound*
*The crowd clapped*
*Sonic singing*

*Muttski was at his feet, collecting gold coins in a soup can*

*Shadow walked into the town square*

Madame Breezie: Here again!
Sonic: Madame Breezie! *Breezie swiped the can away from Muttski & took the coins inside* Wait! I earned that!
*He tried to take the coins back, but Breezie kept them away from him*
Madame Breezie: And you owe me. Did you really think you could make a living as a musician? Get back to work, boy. Or there'll be trouble.
*She threw the can over her shoulder as she left. Sonic bent down to pick up the can. As he was about to stand up, Shadow put a gold coin inside*
Shadow: What a beautiful song.
Sonic: Thanks. My Mom taught it . . . To . . . Me . . . *he paused as he looked closer at Shadow's face. they both took off their hoods & both their eyes went wide* Whoa.
*They looked almost identical to each other. Muttski & Maria looked at each other & blushed*
Shadow: We could almost be brothers.
Shadow & Sonic: What's your name?
Sonic: You first.
Shadow: Please. Call me Shadow.
Sonic: Shadow? You have the same name as the Prince.
Shadow: Well . . .
Sonic: Oh . . . *he kneeled down* I'm Sonic, Your Highness. *he stood up* Aren't you supposed to be inside the castle?
Shadow: I'm savoring a first and last taste of freedom before getting married next week. To a total stranger.
Sonic: At least you're not an indentured servant.
*Shadow turned to him, surprised*
Shadow: Indentured servant?
*Sonic nodded*

If I'd like to have my breakfast hot
Madame Breezie will make me pay
And I have to fetch the eggs myself

Shadow: You made it. It's her favorite! The design looks so complicated.
Sonic: Oh, but it isn't really . . .

First I choose a fabric from the rack
And I pin the pattern down

Shadow: We could almost be twins *they pulled their hoods back over their heads & chuckled* What about this birthmark? *he pulled down his right sleeve to reveal a crown shaped mark in his wrist. Sonic did the same, but there was no mark* Hmm, no. I guess not.
*Just then, Abigail walked up to them, holding two mugs of soup*
Abigail: Here, Your Highness. *she dropped the mugs when she saw two Princes. the two boys chuckled at her shocked face* It's . . . Uncanny.
*Suddenly, Ivo came charging at Maria, barking. Maria ran away from him*
Shadow: Maria!
*Muttski barked & chased after them*
Sonic: Muttski!
*The three animals ran through the village. Muttski started running across the rooftops when he couldn't keep up with Ivo & Maria anymore. Maria came to a dead end. She tried to climb over the wall, but stopped when she realized a long drop was on the other side. She fell back down to the ground*
Ivo: Look who's a long way from the palace.
Maria: Don't get any ideas, Ivo. I don't get these nails filed for nothing.
Ivo: I'll take my chances.
*He advanced towards Maria. Suddenly, Muttski landed in between them*
Muttski: I'm warning you! Leave her alone!
Ivo: HA! Or you'll do what? Spit a hairball at me?
*Muttski started barking at him. While he was distracted, Maria jumped on a barrel behind him & knocked a bucket of rotten fish bones on his head. He ran away*
Maria: Quite a big bark you have there, Rover.
Muttski: Uh, it's, uh, Muttski. Not Rover.
Maria: Well thank you Muttski, not Rover. My name's Maria.
Muttski: Uh, I haven't seen you around here before.
Maria: I don't think we run in the same circles, but perhaps we could change that.
*Just then, both of their Masters arrived*
Shadow & Sonic: There you are.
*Maria meowed & Muttski barked as the hedgehogs picked them up*
Shadow: Did I just hear your cat bark?
Sonic: He has a style all his own.
*They walked out of the alley where Abigail was waiting for them with the carriage*
Abigail: I'm sorry, Your Highness. We should be getting back.
Shadow:*to Sonic* One day you must play for us at the palace.
Sonic: Really!?
*Shadow, Marie, & Abigail got in the carriage*
Shadow: I'll send someone for you.
Sonic: I'll be at Madame Breezie's.
Shadow: Goodbye Sonic. I won't forget.
*The carriage drove away*
Sonic: Goodbye. Come on, Muttski. *Muttski didn't hear him as he saw Maria looking at him from the back of the carriage* Muttski? *he looked where Muttski was looking & chuckled* Cat got your tongue? Come on, Romeo.
*He walked away. Muttski soon followed him*
