With the arrival of Captain Kirk, the colonel offered greetings.
"Howdy, captain. Colonel Jack O'Neill. Good to meet you."
"Nice boots," Han said. "I'm Han Solo."
"Mister Solo. And Colonel….O'Neill, is it?"
"Two 'l's.'"
"I'm Luke Skywalker."
"Mister Skywalker."
"You can call me 'Luke.'"
"Very well. Luke," Kirk said with a cordial nod.
Although Leia was the official diplomat of the group, Daniel made the other introductions. After a round of shaking hands and smiling. O'Neill mused aloud.
"'Enterprise.' 'Enterprise.' I don't think I've heard of your ship, Captain Kirk."
Kirk grinned. "That wouldn't be surprising, Colonel O'Neill. From what your Major Carter tells me, I've been pulled out of my own galaxy into yours."
"Oh? You and Carter have become good friends, have you?" O'Neill's dark eyes darted back and forth.
Kirk chuckled. "Not as good as the two of you, I'm sure. I'm a stranger here."
"His energy signature doesn't match that of our galaxy, sir."
"Well, that's very odd, isn't it?"
"Any idea why, Sam?"
"Not yet, Han."
"We'll do our best to get you home, Captain Kirk," Lando said in his laughing voice. "In the meantime, avoid sarlaccs."
"And other menaces," Daniel said.
"I appreciate that, Lando. Daniel."
Vala saw that Luke wore some type of serious face, different from his serious Jedi face. Also different from Sam's "high alert" face. More like Daniel's thoughtful Jedi face.
"Captain Kirk, if you don't mind my saying, you don't seem all that alarmed or upset about being pulled into another galaxy."
"Yes, you do seem to be taking things in stride," Daniel said.
"That's the way to do things," Lando laughed.
"That's what a Jedi would do," Cam said.
"Yes, it is," from Leia.
"Or an ace pilot," Cam added.
Luke crossed his arms. "So, why are you taking this so calmly?"
Kirk chuckled. "It's not the first time I've been suddenly transported somewhere else. Believe it or not, Luke"
"We call him 'Master Luke,'" O'Neill quipped.
"As do we."
At the sound of a new voice, Kirk whirled around. There was alarm on his face, and he pointed some kind of small device. Which, Han observed, if it was a weapon it was nothing like a blaster. In any case, it was pointed at Goldenrod.
"Whoa!" O'Neill shouted, raising his hands. "Easy there, captain."
"Not that some of us might not mind Threepio getting blasted," Han said.
"Oh, my!"
"Most of us," O'Neill said.
"Oh, my again!"
"We might need him to translate," Leia said pointedly.
"Daniel can do that," Han insisted but in his mumbling voice.
"Not three millions forms of communication," Daniel said.
"Don't underestimate yourself, Daniel," Han said. "If you could replace Threepio-"
"I can't."
"He can't," Luke insisted.
Seeing it was only two robots, Kirk relaxed and smiled.
"It's all right, Captain Kirk," Luke said. He held out his hands over Kirk's device but the captain lowered it, sighing as he did.
"Hello!" C-3PO said, apparently unaware he could have been disrupted or disintegrated. Like Han, the droid probably didn't even see the device as a weapon. Which is about the only similarity that Han and C-3PO would share.
"Hello," a relieved Kirk said as holstered his device/weapon. "And who might you be, my golden friend?"
"Oh, just another strange lifeform," O'Neill said.
"But not like the Joker," Luke said.
"No. More like Mr. Monk," Han said.
"Annoying like Mr. Monk," O'Neill said.
"I'm Captain Kirk."
"Hello, Captain Kirk!" When C-3PO spoke, his head jerked a little. Indeed, his entire golden body seemed to jerk back and forth a little. Maybe the golden fellow was just fidgeting. As Mr. Monk would. "I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations."
"And you're doing a bang-up job there, Threepio."
"Oh! Thank you, Colonel O'Neill." Shuffling his feet a little, C-3PO turned his entire golden body toward the colonel. "I only wish General Solo held me in such high regard."
"Watch it, goldenrod!" When Han pointed, the stern look on his face emphasized the scar on his chin.
"Oh, my!"
"Threepio here doesn't understand sarcasm. Even though he's versed in three million forms of communication. Kind of like another visitor of ours doesn't get sarcasm. Sheldon Cooper. Almost as annoying as Mr. Monk."
"Almost," Han said.
"It's a toss-up, really," Vala said.
Moving with his usual slight awkwardness, C-3PO turned back to the captain.
"In any case, let me continue."
O'Neill held out a hand. "By all means, Threepio. Continue, please."
C-3PO held out a hand. "Captain Kirk, this is my counterpart R2-D2."
As R2-D2 whistled his excitement, a smiling Kirk knelt down to address the little blue-domed fellow.
"Hello, R2-D2!"
"Cute, isn't he?" Carter said with a smile.
"Almost as cute as Baby Yoda," Vala said.
"Almost," Leia said. Next to her, Luke grinned as he lifted his shoulders a little.
Making a series of happy noises, R2-D2 shook excitedly from side to side, much as he did at the awards ceremony for Han and Luke after the Battle of the First Death Star.
"Artoo says he finds you very agreeable, Captain Kirk!"
A beaming Kirk rose. "As I do him, C-3PO."
"You can call him 'Threepio' for short," Luke said.
Chirping by Artoo was followed by this from Threepio.
"May we learn a little more about you, Captain Kirk?"
Kirk smiled and shrugged. "Captain of the 'Enterprise.' And a visitor from another galaxy who's stuck here for now, I'm afraid."
"How unfortunate for you, Captain Kirk," C-3PO said as R2-D2 whistled in a low mournful manner. "But how fortunate for us we get to make your acquaintance."
"I appreciate the sentiment, my golden friend."
"Well, that's Threepio for you," O'Neill said. "Just full of sentiment and good cheer."
"Full of something," Han muttered.
"Now, Han."
Seemingly oblivious to any conflict, Kirk walked casually across the landscape while gazing out at the bazaar.
"I just hope, like Dorothy, I can find my way home"
"There. Now, you see?" O'Neill waved his hand toward Kirk. "If the new guy likes 'The Wizard of Oz,' he must be okay."
"Still haven't seen it."
"You'll love it, Han. Flying monkeys and everything." O'Neill placed a hand on Han's shoulder as he turned to Kirk. "You'll have to excuse Han. He's a little too busy to watch movies. What with fighting the Empire."
"And the System Lords," Han said.
"And doing all that smuggling."
Kirk nodded. "A course I might have taken had I not gone to the academy."
"I wanted to go to the academy," Luke said.
Kirk grinned. "Not the same one, I assume."
"I can't see you as a smuggler, Kirk."
"You can't?"
"Nah!" Again, O'Neill waved his hand. "You're far too trustworthy for that. A straight arrow. Like Luke here."
Along with Kirk, Luke smiled and nodded. "I appreciate your confidence in me, Colonel O'Neill."
"Well, of course. I have nothing but confidence in you, Luke."
"As I do you, colonel."
O'Neill held out his hand. "And I trust our new friend Kirk."
"I have a good feeling about him," Han said with a muted grin.
Another grin from Kirk. "I appreciate the endorsement, gentlemen, Much more than when a certain Cyrano Jones called me 'friend.'"
"I'll ask about that later," Han decided.
As O'Neill gave the "A-okay" signal with his thumb and forefinger, Leia stepped forward. As she extended her hand to Kirk, Vala thought she once again saw a twinkle in the eyes of the princess.
"If Colonel O'Neill thinks you're all right, you must be all right."
"This is one of his better days," Carter said with a smile of her own.
After he shook hands with Leia, Kirk smiled as he looked around at the group.
"I've seen more than my fair share of strange lifeforms. All of you are fairly normal, if you can believe that."
"I can believe it," O'Neill said.
"I believe it."
"And Han's an authority on normal, trust me."
"Yep. Even though I've seen a lot of strange things."
Kirk smiled. "I hope I'm not one of those strange things, Mr.. Solo."
"You're not, trust me. I've seen a lot of things much stranger than you, Kirk."
"Good to know, Mr. Solo."
"Call me 'Han.'"
"In that case, call me 'Jim.'"
"Will do, Jim."
"Isn't that nice? We're all friends. And since Han here has been from one end of the galaxy to the other, he could be your guide."
"Will you be along for the ride, colonel?"
O'Neill shrugged. "I could. If Han trusts you, I trust you. Han's a great judge of character. Plus, I just find you to be a trustworthy fellow."
"Thank you, colonel."
"Jack. Remember: we're all friends now."
"All right. Jack." Kirk chuckled warmly. "You're a very friendly group."
"Aren't we, though?" O'Neill gestured to the woman in white. "You've met Princess Leia."
"More than once."
"The princess here is our diplomat to visitors from another galaxy. Well, everyone, really. You might say she's our welcome wagon."
"Or our diplomat," Daniel said pointedly.
"Diplomat warrior princess," Vala said brightly. "Which I think would make an excellent TV show."
The diplomat-warrior-princess-potential-TV-star offered her hand. "I can be your guide."
"And a diplomat," O'Neill said, holding up a finger.
As the princess and the captain shook hands, Kirk said, "My chief engineer says the best diplomat is a bank of fully armed phasers."
"What are...phasers?" Han asked.
"Things that phase, obviously," O'Neill said.
"They're our weapons," Kirk said.
"Strength does back words," Leia said.
"Most likely the point my chief engineer was trying to make."
"Your chief engineer sounds like a smart guy."
"He is, Jack. And a real miracle worker."
"We've got Siler and R2-D2 to help fix stuff. What's your guy's name?"
"Scotty. I only wish he were here to help."
"Maybe as we work on your situation, we'll find a way to bring him over."
"I appreciate that, Princess."
"Leia."
"Jim."
"Don't get too friendly, you two," Han said.
"It's all right, Han," O'Neill said. "We're all friends here, just friends. And later we'll all go drinking in a Mos Eisley cantina."
Kirk grinned and nodded. "Scotty would enjoy that, though I doubt you'd have Romulan ale or Scotch."
"Probably not. Not in Mos Eisley. That wouldn't be our biggest problem, though."
"What would be ?"
"We'd have to watch out for some of the rough customers in the place," Han said.
"Like Greedo," O'Neill said.
"What's a ...Greedo?"
Han shrugged. "Greedo's not a big deal. He's just a pest."
"You have to watch out for the pests that want to kill you," Luke said.
"Or fight you. Or cheat you. Or rob you," Daniel said in his casual Daniel voice.
"All part of the scum and villainy that is Mos Eisley," Luke said.
"Yes!" O'Neill exclaimed. "Han is a bit of an expert on scum and villainy."
"Thanks, Jack."
"He was a bit of a rogue himself once."
"A rogue, eh?" Kirk grinned. "Is that really true?"
"Some might say 'scoundrel,'" Leia said with a grin of her own.
"He's a bit more reformed now."
"Still a bit of a scoundrel," Leia said teasingly.
"You like scoundrels," Han said.
As the two kissed, Daniel extended his hand to Kirk.
"Welcome aboard, captain. Welcome to our friendly little galaxy."
"Thank you. What was your name again?"
"Daniel."
"Jim."
O'Neill walked over. "Well, Jim, now that we're all friends, I can tell you about some other people who have popped up from other places."
"I would be glad to hear it, Jack. Part of my mission is to seek out new life."
"You may enjoy your visit here," Luke said with a grin.
