Ginger Ale, or simply Ginger, was Statesman's tech genius and was ready and waiting for her when she entered the lab.
"Hi, Agent Valkyrie. I'm Ginger. Champ said you'd be stopping by on your way out."
"Yes, thank you." They shook hands. "You can call me Juliet, or simply 'Jules'."
"Nice to meet you. Come on in." Ginger turned and headed into the lab, gesturing for Jules to follow her.
"Wow, I've seen lots of labs before but this one really stands out," she observed as they strode further into the lab. "My son would love all this - he's ten years old and is already a tech genius. I might have to bring him here sometime." He can see where his dad works. The thought made her smile and filled her up with warmth.
"So I understand you have quite the history with Agent Whiskey."
"News travels fast, doesn't it? That's one way to put it, yes. I'm his thought-to-be-dead wife, and he's my thought-to-be-dead husband. It's complicated."
"Sounds like it. But then again, he's a complicated guy."
Jules wasn't exactly sure what she meant by that. "How long have you worked together?"
"We started around the same time. He's always been a field agent and I've always been on the tech side of things. I've been considering field work for a while now, but it never works out."
"What do you mean?"
"Well we take a vote when initiating another field agent and, well..." Ginger sighed. "Whiskey always votes against me."
"Whiskey? You mean Jack? My Jack?"
"Yeah." Ginger gave a small smile, but her eyes were sad behind her glasses. "So here I stay. But maybe one day."
"Yeah, keep trying. I'm sorry, that just doesn't sound like him. He's always so supportive..."
"Grief changes people."
Damn right it does... She definitely had a point there.
"Well, if you're really considering it, we're always accepting applications over at Queensfolk."
Ginger smiled. "Thanks, Agent Valkyrie. Best of luck on your mission."
And they were off. They were now off to Italy. Thanks to the tracking device Eggsy had left with Clara they got word of a lab in Italy where an antidote for Poppy's drug was kept.
"Are you sure you should be coming along for this?" Jack expressed his concern to Jules as they were getting ready to leave.
"Well I'm pretty wrapped up in it now. And honestly, I think you need me. Besides, I'm not letting you out of my sight again."
He chuckled. "You and me both, Darlin'."
Italy was a disaster. An absolute disaster. It turned out to be nothing but a complete disaster.
The only good part was that the retirement home had been saved. But that's getting a little ahead of things.
It didn't start out that way - in fact, it actually started out pretty good. Everyone was in their positions: Harry was heading up to the control centre while Eggsy and Jack headed up to the base itself, which was perched atop a ski hill. Jules waited on the other side of the hill for the escape. Eggsy and Jack headed inside the lab while Harry took care of security.
"We're in," Eggsy updated through the communication link.
"Copy that, standing by," Jules responded.
"Thanks, Darlin'," Jack answered.
It started out calm, but the calm quickly turned into chaos, as, by the sounds of it at least, they were chased out of the lab. Harry wasn't responding from his end of things.
"They're in pursuit!"
"How many?"
"Just that fucker Charlie!"
"Where are you now?"
"Back on the lift, heading down."
"Copy that." With a push of her ski poles she started down the hill, ready to meet them. Only Charlie didn't follow them onto the lift as anticipated, and instead, the lift began to spin out of control, all while still making its way down the hill.
"Eggsy? Jack?" But all she got was the sound of both their screams over the radio. And that wasn't all-
This was where the retirement home came in, a mountainside retirement home that was right in their path. People were sitting out on the grounds, enjoying the afternoon, only now the poor residents were screaming as they watched the lift spin closer and closer to them.
"Civilians in your path!" Jules cried. "Repeat, civilians in your path!"
"We know!"
"Harry, where are you at?"But nothing, still nothing. It was still quiet from his end of things. "I'm coming in-"
She stepped out of her skis and connected them together. Then she jumped into their path.
"Honey, get out of the way!" came Jack's holler over the radio.
An energy field emerged from the connected skis and she jammed the ski-shield into the snow, so the lift would hit it first and it would hopefully deflect. Then she dove out of the way.
Her plan worked and the men emerged from the lift, very dizzy.
"Well, boys, I'd say we did it."
"Here we are: the safe house," Jack announced.
"Another one?" said Eggsy. "More like safe shack..." True, this was much less luxurious than Jack's safe house back in Kentucky. "You're sure we'll be safe here."
"Keep your eyes open and your weapon close and we will be," Jack assured him.
Once inside they lit a fire and Harry joined them.
"So weird to think this tiny thing could save the world," Eggsy remarked, eyeing the little bottle of antidote.
Suddenly, Jack dove at Eggsy. "GET DOWN!"
"YOU FUCKING DICKHEAD!" This had caused the bottle to fly from his hand and smash to the floor. But Jack was right - someone from outside had opened fire at them.
"FUCK YOU! I JUST SAVED YOUR LIFE!"
"AND COST MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THEIRS!"
"Shut up and shoot back!" she yelled at them.
Jack withdrew both of his guns. "Cover me!"
"On it!" She followed close behind him, helping when needed, but he was very efficient when it came to taking down a group of enemy agents.
Jack started cursing Eggsy and Harry as soon as they were back inside, saying it was a good thing they hadn't needed any backup for the Kingsmen were no help.
Jules's phone started buzzing in her pocket then. "Excuse me, I need to take this." It was Athena. She could practically feel the urgency of the call as the phone rang in her hand. She headed out the back of the cabin.
Athena answered before she had a moment to say 'hello'. "Juliet, what the hell are you doing?"
"Nice to hear from you too, Boss."
"Juliet, I'm serious. Where are you?"
"Right now? Italy."
"And?"
"And I've met up with the last surviving Kingsman members. They took refuge with the Statesmen in Kentucky."
"You 'met up with them'? How did you get involved?"
She sighed. "It's a long story, but I got some intel on my husband-"
"Your husband?"
"Yes, Jack Daniels, yes. Turns out, he's alive, he has been all this time. He works for Statesmen. He thought Jackie and I were dead."
"But that's impossible."
"That's what I thought. But it's true. Oh Boss, I'm so relieved, so happy. Part of me never thought I'd feel this way again. It feels too good to be true."
"Yes... Where's your son?"
"Staying with Agents Persephone and Artemis." She turned away from the cottage further as commotion arose from inside, making it difficult to hear Athena's voice from the other end of the line.
But then there was Eggsy's voice shouting: "Harry - NO!"
BANG!
The unmistakable sound of a gun firing a shot, a single shot, then silence.
She almost dropped the phone - she didn't even say goodbye to Athena before ending the call and racing back inside the cottage to find out what had happened.
So I wanted to do a Jack love story because I love Pedro Pascal and his characters, and I enjoyed this movie. I was originally going to create an OC for this story, but after hearing Jack speak about his wife, well I wanted to find some way to bring them back together, so here we are! ;)
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter! :)
