Hello again everybody! We back out here! Took way longer than I anticipated, but it's all good. I was having trouble yet again on how to continue the events of the story. But now that I've gotten it all figured out, (sort of) just sit back, relax, and enjoy another chapter! It's a long one, so I hope that makes up for the wait.
Chapter 5: Relationship Development
It was nearly one in the afternoon, and Sabre was still fast asleep in his bed back at his hotel room. Well, condo would be more accurate.
He had no issue with doing so of course. Afterall, he had no plans for the day, so he saw no reason not to sleep in for a little bit.
Sabre was lying in his bed shirtless, only wearing a pair of basketball shorts (And underwear of course) with no intention of getting up. His slumber was cut short however when his newly acquired smartphone let out a loud but brief notification tone, waking him up and notifying him that he had just received a text message.
Sabre had bought himself a smartphone over at the Mega Mall the night before after his BR match at the request of Rex, who practically forced Sabre to get one. But Sabre had no issue in getting a phone for himself, after all, he would need one in order to stay in touch with the group. He still had plenty of cash, so he figured that getting himself a high quality phone wouldn't hurt, and that's exactly what he did.
Rex made sure that Sabre had everyone's number from their group, which obviously consisted of himself, Cuddle, and Brite Bomber. He also made sure that Cuddle and Brite Bomber had his number as well.
Sabre reached over to his nightstand where his phone was and checked to see who had just texted him.
It was Brite Bomber, the woman who was probably his favorite person on the whole island. Although, he hadn't really met alot of people on the island quite yet, but that didn't matter to him.
He unlocked his phone to read the text that she had sent him.
"Hey you! :) I saw your match last night when I went over to Guacos with Calamity, and I wanted to congratulate you on your first Victory Royale!"
Sabre smiled when he read that, and quickly began to type in a response.
"Wait, You saw that?? Aw hell, I hope you didn't see me running from those grenades like an idiot, lol."
"Lol, don't worry, you looked great out there."
"Well, if you're saying so, then it has to be true ;)"
"Lol, now you're just being silly. Hey, do you have any plans for tonight?"
"Nope, I actually have no idea what I'm doing today. Why do you ask?"
"Well, I was thinking that maybe you and I could hang out tonight, do something fun. Ya know, just the two of us."
.....
Sabre didn't immediately respond to Brites last text, instead, he got goosebumps when he read it, and he wasn't exactly sure why.
In the short amount of time that Sabre had spent on the island, he noticed that he was in the best of moods whenever he was around Brite Bomber. Everything about her just seemed amazing to him. Her laugh, her smile, her positive vibes, her sense of humor...
The fact that she was drop dead gorgeous...
Wait... Slow down there bud...
Do... Do I... Like Brite?
As in... More than... Just a friend??
...
Naw, there's no way, you just met her a few days ago bro, get a grip on yourself!
Despite his thoughts, Sabre was definitely fond of the idea of him and Brite getting to spend some quality time together.
Besides, It wasn't like he had anything productive going on today...
Meanwhile...
It had been about a whole two minutes since Sabre had left Brite Bomber on 'Read', and now she was growing concerned.
Brite was at home, laying up on her sofa, wearing a purple crop top tank top and grey sweatpants. Her pink hair was tied in her usual ponytail. She was simply chillin' with no make up on, (Anybody catch that reference?? XD) waiting for Sabre to respond to her text.
She was starting to think that she had scared him off. Was she too forward with her proposal? Did she come off too strong? She had no idea, and the suspense was KILLING Her.
Brite had decided to take Calamitys advice and test the waters with Sabre. But like she said to Calamity before though, she wasn't really sure if she was into Sabre on a romantic level. But she knew that she was definitely fond of him overall, so the idea of hanging out with him seemed nice to her regardless.
Just then, Brite looked down at her phone and saw that Sabre was typing his response. She tensed up as she awaited for his message to be received.
"Absolutely! What'd you have in mind?"
Brite let out a sigh of relief once she saw Sabres response, happy that she hadn't scared him off after all. She was also happy to see that Sabre seemed more than willing to hang out with her. Definitely a good start in her book.
But then it hit her...
She actually didn't know what they should do together...
While the island offered plenty of things to do for those who resided there, Brite didn't want to suggest something that would be awkward for the two of them.
This wasn't a date after all, this was just two friends that wanted to hang out with each other.
In a totally non-romantic way...
Brite tried to think outside of the box with her next text message.
"Well, I haven't actually thought that far ahead lol, maybe we can negotiate once we meet up though. Is that cool with you?"
"Sure, it doesn't matter to me as long as I still get to see you :)"
.....
God, he's so sweet...
It was just one text message! Keep it together Brite!
Snapping herself out of her thoughts, Brite typed up her next response.
"Lol, you're sweet. Okay, so we'll discuss our plans tonight. How about I meet you outside of your place? I figure it would be better for me to come to you since you still aren't quite acquainted with everything on the island yet."
"Sounds good to me, so I'll see you then?"
"You know it, see you then hotshot ;)"
"Later Brite :)"
Brite Bomber then put her phone down, effectively ending her conversation with Sabre. While she was a bit nervous about this little get together she had arranged with him, she was also excited for it.
Even though she had conflicting emotions on wether or not she had a crush on Sabre, she still couldn't figure out what exactly made her this nervous about him.
It's not not she hasn't dated a guy before...
...
That made her think of what happened with... Him...
There were times where she almost wanted to cry thinking about how her last relationship ended. Hell, she remembers crying her eyes out when it happened, she was incredibly greatful that she had Calamity to comfort her during that difficult time.
Of course, there was no guarantee that her and Sabre would ever be in a romantic relationship together. But if they did, she could only pray that something like that would never happen between them.
Brite decided it was best to stop thinking on it, after all she had much more important things to worry about.
What the hell am I gonna wear?
Sabre couldn't help but feel like he was going on a date with Brite, as amazing as that might've sounded, he would be lying if he said he wasn't a bit nervous about it.
There was no reason for him to think of it as a date though, especially if Brite wasn't even interested in Sabre on such a level. He definitely didn't want to ruin their already well established friendship on such a foolish assumption.
Why would she even be into me anyway? She's beautiful, and could easily have any guy she wanted, and I'm certainly no one special.
Trying to snap out of his thoughts, Sabre got up from his bed and made his way to the bathroom for a shower, hopefully that would clear his head from these crazy thoughts of his.
He stepped inside the shower and eased up as the hot water covered is body. It was definitely a relaxing feeling for him.
Once Sabre was out of the shower, he had remembered that it was well past morning, which meant that he had missed breakfast. The rumbling sound coming from his stomach was a clear reminder of that.
Sabre decided that he would go out to eat this time, as opposed to making something in the kitchen. He felt that it would be a good way to get more familiar with the island, or at least Neo Tilted.
Remembering that he had gotten himself a new outfit, Sabre headed to his closet to get dressed. Once he was ready, he made his way out of the front door and in search of an eating establishment.
Meanwhile...
The old villains lair was once a menacing location, not a soul would dare step foot near it, knowing very well what kind of consequences would be waiting for them.
Originally, the lair was constructed for a superhero movie, little did the producers and directors of the film know that the lair would be used by actual villains who were only thought to be acting as villains to plot evil deeds against the island.
Fast forward a few months later, and the place was falling apart, all because of a rocket launch that was held at said lair. The rocket launch caused significant damage to the structural integrity of the lair, it was a miracle that the place didn't cave in on itself.
There, one of the most dangerous individuals on the island Omega, sat on a torn up office chair, thinking on how he could have possibly ended up in such a position.
"How could someone as dangerous and feared as I am have fallen so short?" Asked Omega to himself. He was once leading the charge to take over the island, now he was spending his nights in what was left of his old lair.
"Oh come on now boss, it could be worse." The response coming from Scoundrel, one of Omegas goons. Since he took orders from Omega, he also stayed at the villains lair, much to Omegas distaste.
He was attempting to make himself some lunch, thankful that some of the lairs appliances still worked, even after the rocket launch.
"Scoundrel, I'm living in a lair that has practically been reduced to rubble, and I'm solely relying on armed robberies just to ensure that I've got the money to keep myself fed. How could things possibly be worse?"
"Well, we could've been found by the party poopers and arrested after the whole rocket launch fiasco."
"That doesn't help me Scoundrel, especially not after I think about what happened at the Durr Burger the other night."
"Oh yeah, that Sabre guy really did a number on all of us. Guess we shoulda' had a better plan before pickin' a fight with that bloke, eh boss?"
"NOT HELPING SCOUNDREL!"
"Hey hey now, take it easy boss! Just trying to make light of the situation is all."
"Well that's easier said than done Scoundrel. Never in my life had someone defeated me so easily, it was absolutely humiliating! Obviously that Sabre fellow is more powerful than Raven had originally anticipated."
"I'll say, speaking of which, where is Raven anyway?"
"He returned to his home dimension, he uses the cube as a portal to travel there. He said that he may have something to help defeat Sabre."
"You mean 'Kevin'?"
"I am NOT referring to the cube as 'Kevin'! Just because those simple minded fools came up with a name for it for some foolish reason, doesn't mean I'll be referring to it as such."
"Alright, whatever makes ya happy boss."
"Ugh, I need to get out of this place before I go mad."
"Hmm... Tell ya what boss, how bout' you and I join in on a BR Match tomorrow? We've got those BR terminals downstairs that we stole a few months back, we may as well put them to good use."
"With you as my partner? I think not."
"Ah come on boss, you and I could totally crush some noobs together. It'll help take your mind off of things."
With a deep sigh, Omega let out his response.
"Fine, it's certainly better than sitting here doing nothing."
"Sweet! They won't know what him em'!"
It had been a few hours since Sabre had left his Condo, and he had done much since he left.
While he was still in Neo Tilted earlier, he settled for a pizza joint that he found for lunch. After that, he hit up Rex and Cuddle and asked them where he could go for some fun on the island.
They both had recommended him to visit the race track located near the Mega Mall and Lonely Lodge. Upon his arrival, he met some folk there who appeared to be really into racing.
At least that's what he figured since they both wore motorcycle helments.
He had a blast racing them in quad crashers a few times before he decided to depart and explore more of the island.
Since Lonely Lodge was nearby, Sabre decided to visit there next. There he met a man and a woman who appeared to be hippies of some kind. But whatever they were, they sure could play the banjo well.
Sabre hung out with them for some time, exchanging good conversation, and munching on roasted marshmallows with them, before he left and visited his next location.
The last stop of the day for Sabre would soon be his favorite place to hang out, Lucky Landing, the place where he and Rex first dropped in their BR Match together.
This time however, Sabre wasn't here for loot. This time, he was here for fun.
He met some very nice people there, who all embraced Asain culture, which made sense considering that the entire area of Lucky Landing embraced it.
And their food, holy hell their food...
Of course Sabre didn't want to eat too much, considering that he ate not too long before that. Not to mention he had no idea if his plans with Brite Bomber would involve food. Good thing he practically had a second stomach.
Oh shit! I totally forgot about that!
Checking his watch, the time had just reached six o' clock, so Sabre still had time to get back to Tilted before Brite Bomber got there.
Sabre managed to get back to Tilted just before seven, with about ten minutes to spare to be exact. He headed back to the building where his condo was, hoping that Brite hadn't already beat him there.
As he was making his way over, a somewhat familiar voice stopped him dead in his tracks.
"Hey hottie!"
Hearing the voice, Sabre turned in the direction that it came from. It was the woman from yesterday, the one wearing all red.
With the incredibly tight leggings...
"Oh... uh... hey there. 'Ruby' right?" Asked Sabre.
"That's right, I'm flattered to see you still remember me."
Sabre gave off a bit of a nervous chuckle as Ruby made her way over to him.
"Well we did just meet yesturday."
"Good point, so, whatcha' up to?"
"Well, I was actually going to-"
"Oh cool, so I bet you won't mind if I tag along with you?" Ruby interrupted.
"Umm..."
Ruby had Sabre right where she wanted him. Ever since she met him yesterday, Ruby instantly wanted him. And for those who didn't know Ruby, when she wanted something, she usually got it.
And right now, she wanted Sabre.
"I'm... I actually already made plans with someone else tonight Ruby... And... I don't know how they would feel about yo-"
"What? You don't think they'll like me?" Interrupted Ruby with with a fake sad face.
"Well... no, it's jus-"
"Why wouldn't they like me? Don't YOU like me? Sabre?" Ruby said as she said his name in a very seductive tone of voice. As she spoke, she inched closer and closer to Sabre until she was close enough to place her hands on his upper chest.
While he did think Ruby was hot, he was not very comfortable in his position. Especially when he barely knew her.
"Uh... Ruby, I don't think tha-"
"AHEM!"
Both Ruby and Sabre turned to the direction of the sound, and Sabres eyes went wide.
It was Brite Bomber...
And she looked pissed...
"Brite!" Exclaimed Sabre. "I was jus-"
"Did you need something Brite? I'm kinda in the middle of something here." Interrupted Ruby in a rude fashion towards Brite Bomber, with her hands still on Sabres chest.
"Ya know, it's funny you should say that Ruby, because Sabre and I actually had plans together, and I'd like to get to them if you don't mind. Unless you have a problem with that?" Replied Brite, ending that last part of her response in a bit of a threatening tone. She stood there glaring at Ruby with her hands on her hips, waiting for her to do something stupid.
Ruby was no pushover when it came to combat, but deep down she knew that she couldn't go toe to toe with Brite Bomber. She was way too skilled, Ruby had seen her in action plenty of times.
Brite was definitely one to be reckoned with.
The funny thing was that Ruby never had any issues with Brite Bomber before, at least not up until this point. The two of them were never friends, but they didn't dislike eachother either.
That of course probably changed at that moment.
Knowing that the outcome wouldn't work out in her favor, Ruby decided to back off, giving Brite a evilish grin as she took her hands off of Sabre and backed away from him.
"Alright Brite, you can have him for now. I don't mind sharing my future boy toy for a little bit." Said Ruby.
Brite did not seem at all amused by Ruby's comment and shot her a dirty look, waiting for her to leave.
Sabre on the other hand looked very uncomfortable, as he avoided eye contact with both women.
"But if you're ever looking for a good time Sabre, come see me. I stay over at Snobby Shores. Until we meet again."
Ruby then blew Sabre a kiss before she began to leave, purposely walking away from the scene slowly, swaying her hips from side to side.
Once Ruby was finally gone, Sabre finally mustered up the courage to go up to Brite in an attempt to explain himself.
"Brite listen to me, I swear I-"
Brite cut Sabre off with a shush as she placed a finger on his lips, looking much more calm then she was just a moment ago when Ruby was still there.
"Its okay, I saw the whole thing." Said Brite with a warm smile.
"The WHOLE thing??" Asked Sabre.
"Well, I got here right when she started to invade your personal space, so I saw enough."
"Oh, uh... well, thanks... for getting me out of that..."
"Hey, what are friends for?"
"Hehe, right. So... you're not mad at me then?"
"Why would I be mad at you?"
"Well, when you got here, I thought that you might've thought that I had ditched you to hang out with Ruby."
"Oh please, I know you wouldn't do that. Don't worry, you're still in my good graces." Brite finished with a wink.
"I'm glad to hear it. So, what are we gonna do tonight?"
Brite had thought long and hard about what Sabre and herself would do for the evening, in an attempt to rule out anything that would be awkward for them. That meant no movies, no dinner, and no walks by a park or beach. Instead, she picked something that was actually kinda risky, but if all went well, could also prove to be fun.
"Glad you asked. Now hear me out in this, but I was thinking, that we could head over to a bar." Said Brite.
"A bar? As in, drinking?" Asked Sabre, who was caught off guard by Brite's suggestion.
"Yup, the bars here on the island serve special slurp drinks, mixed with all different types of beers, wines, you name it. I figured it would be fun for you and I to get to know eachother a little better over a few drinks."
Sabre was surprised by Brite's proposal. He knew that this wasn't a date or anything like that, but he wasn't sure how he felt about the idea of a bar. He knew what kind of effects that alcohol could have on the mind, and he didn't want something bad to happen that could potentially ruin the relationship he had with Brite.
"Brite... I don't know if a bar is such a good idea. I mean, if we have one too many drinks, I'm worried that we might do something stupid. And I don't want anything to ruin our-"
Brite cut off Sabre and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, it's okay, I can handle a few drinks, and I get the feeling that you can too. And if either of us feels like we've had too much, we'll call it a night, okay?"
Sabre went quiet and avoided eye contact with Brite for a moment, thinking about the whole idea. While a part of him still felt that this wasn't the best idea, he trusted Brite to keep her word.
Sabre turned to look at Brite, her hand was still on his shoulder, all while she was giving him a reassuring smile, one that was practically telling him that everything would be fine, and that he had nothing to worry about. Sabre offered Brite a smile in return, which was all she needed from him.
"I present to you Sabre, 'The Lama Liquor Lounge'!" Exclaimed Brite Bomber, holding her hands out towards the outside of the bar.
It was a local bar in the Neo Tilted area, well regarded as the best place to grab a drink or two with some friends on the island. Brite figured that if the two of them were gonna go to a bar, then they'd have to go to a good one.
"Well, the name is certainly unique, I'll give them that." Said Sabre with an amused smirk as he looked at the front of the bar from the outside. The exterior of the bar consisted of brick walls and had neon lights that spelled out the name.
Brite gave Sabre a playful shrug. "Hey, it draws people in. Come on, let's get inside."
Brite and Sabre made thier way to the door, but not before Sabre ran up in front of her to open the door for her.
"Ladies first." Said Sabre as he held the door open for Brite."
"My, what a gentleman." Replied Brite playfully, as she made her way in, with Sabre following close behind.
Inside was the same style of brick wall that was present on the outside. The bar had numerous amounts of tables inside, all occupied by groups of friends all hanging out together, or couples on dates. There were also multiple flat screen televisions that were mounted all over the bar as well, most of which were playing sporting events.
The bar itself had multiple stools for those who choose to sit upfront, and smaller tables for two spread across the bar. Brite figured that one of those would be good for the two of them.
"Come on, let's grab a spot over there." Said Brite, motioning towards one of the smaller tables.
"Sounds good to me." Replied Sabre following her.
The two took their seats at the table and were shortly approached by a waitress.
"Good evening folks, happy to have y'all here at the Lama Liqour Lounge. What can I get for y'all?" Asked the waitress with a southern accent.
"Hmm, I think we should start with an appetizer before we go crazy with the drinks, how about some breadsticks Sabre? They've got garlic flavored." Said Brite.
"Garlic? You won't hear any protest from me there." Replied Sabre.
"Excellent choice folks, I'll have them out for you shortly." Responded the waitress, before heading back to the bar.
"So, whatcha think so far?" Asked Brite.
Sabre observed his surroundings before he answered her. "Well, it does seem like a nice place, as far as bars go anyway. I'm not exactly sure what to expect in terms of quality. I'm not much of a drinker, or at least I don't think I am."
Brite let out a small giggle before she responded to Sabre. "Don't worry, I wouldn't have had us come here if the place sucked."
"No worries, I trust you after all." Replied Sabre.
Just then, the waitress returned to the two with their breadsticks. "Here are your breadsticks as requested folks, now did y'all happen to know what you wanted to drink tonight?" Asked the waitress.
Brite gave Sabre a wink before she responded to the waitress. "Yes, we're actually not trying to have anything too strong tonight, we'll just have the casual stuff." Said Brite.
"Say no more, I'll have those out for you two momentarily." Responded the waitress.
"Well that was fast, she was barely gone for more than a minute." Commented Sabre.
"I told you this place was good, they're all about quality service here." Replied Brite. "So, you've been on the island for less than a week now, and I'm literally one of the first three people you've met as soon as you got here, and I STILL barely know anything about you!"
Sabre responded to Brites comment with a small chuckle. "Well, that makes two of us Brite. Remember, when I woke up from that crash landing, I had no memory of my past, or who exactly I was before I got here. I mean, I can still tell you about myself though, as far as my personality goes anyway. I just wouldn't be able to tell you how I ended up the way I am. Well, at least not until I somehow manage to regain my memory."
"Well, what are you waiting for? Come on, tell me about yourself." Responded Brite with a cheerful tone as she grabbed a breadstick and took a bite out of it.
"Alright," Began Sabre. "Well, where do I start? Hmm... I guess I'll start with the basics. Well, if you haven't already noticed, my favorite color is blue. What else... Oh, Hip Hop, or Rap, whichever you prefer to call it, is my favorite genre of music, which we already talked about for a little bit the other day. Let's see... Uhh... I think I come across as a laid back kind of guy, maybe even a bit quiet sometimes. Unless I'm hanging out with friends, like you. I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded when it comes to most kind of debates or discussions, and I try not to judge a book by its cover. I love dogs, car culture, and sneakers. And I may or may not have an unhealthy addiction to video games. But, I think that covers most of me, that I can think of anyway."
Brite had been listening to Sabre talk about himself in awe, even though he had only been on the island for a short time, she hadn't gotten to know him on a more personal level yet. Now that she had that chance, she was eager to know as much as possible about him. She also couldn't help but find the way he explained everything adorable, in a way that made It seem like he was unprepared for her question. It was nice to see that he was so open with her.
"Well, you're certainly quite the character Sabre," Said Brite. "From the color blue, to video games, I think I can honestly say that I haven't met anyone quite like you."
"I'll take that as a compliment." Replied Sabre.
The two shared a laugh after that, simply enjoying each others company. Sabre would be lying if he said that he wasn't enjoying his time with Brite Bomber so far. However, there was a bit of an elephant in the room, one that Brite really wanted to address.
"There was something else about you that I was wondering about Sabre, if you dont mind me asking." Began Brite.
"Of course not Brite, what is it?" Asked Sabre.
"Well, it actually has to do with what happened the other night, at the Durr Burger, with Omega and his goons. When Raven attacked you, you were bleeding pretty bad. But then you were back up on your feet practically ten seconds afterwards, fully healed and kicking thier asses. And your eyes were glowing blue, the same kind that's on both your old and new outfit. It seems to me that you've got some kind of superpowers. Do you have any idea on how you got them?"
Brites question caught Sabre off guard, but he also knew that either her, Rex or Cuddle would bring it up eventually. All Sabre could do was give Brite an honest answer.
"Your guess is as good as mine Brite." Began Sabre. "To be honest with you, when that happened, I felt like a completely different person. It was like my body just went on autopilot. I definitely do think that I have some kind of superpowers, but I'm not sure I know how to use them at my will. Or at least, I don't remember how to. I'm just glad that whatever I did that night was enough to keep you all safe."
Brite gave Sabre a warm smile after hearing that, to know that he cared about her and the others meant alot to her.
"But enough about me, I wanna hear about you. The famous 'Brite Bomber'. Loved and feared by many." Said Sabre.
Brite let out a giggle after hearing how Sabre described her. "Where did you hear that?" Asked Brite.
"That's pretty much how Rex described you when him and I were in that duos match yesturday." Reponded Sabre.
"Of course he did." Said Brite with a playful roll of her eyes. "Well, as I'm sure you already know, I absolutely love sunshine and rainbows. Everything about them just always seem to bring positive energy and good vibes wherever they go. And that's what I'm all about. I just love being happy, and spreading that same happiness to others just makes my day. Some folk here on the island actually sometimes call me 'the queen of sunshine'. Kinda has a nice ring to it if I do say so myself. Then there's my unicorn pickaxe that I mentioned when we met, 'Duncan'. I love that thing so much, I used to take him with me everywhere , that is until he kinda got annoying to carry around everywhere I went. As for Rex's description of me, I've been around the island for quite awhile now, and I've definitely seen this place go through some serious changes. But over time, I learned how to defend myself, and I got pretty good at it too. I've known Rex and Cuddle for as long as I can remember, and they've been my closest friends ever since. Calamity however is in a league of her own. She's easily my closest friend out of everyone I know. I come to her for just about everything. But beyond that, I'm not sure there's much else to say about myself."
Except for... Him... No! We're not bringing that up! Maybe some day, but not today...
Sabre had been listening to Brite describe herself with awe, without looking like a drooling idiot of course. Getting to know a bit more about her was just utterly fascinating to him, although he wasn't sure if it was because he genuinely found her to be an interesting person, or if he possibly had a growing crush on her. He figured that it was a combination of both.
"Well Brite, I think this time I can honestly say that I haven't met anyone quite like YOU before." Said Sabre, mimicking Brites comment from earlier.
Brite let out a small giggle before responding to Sabre. "You really think so?"
"Well, If I have, I can't remember, so yes." Answered Sabre in a joking manner.
Brite let out another laugh at Sabres little joke, and shortly after, the waitress arrived with their drinks.
"Here are those drinks you two, and if there's anything else I can do for y'all this evening, just give me a shout."
"Will do, thanks so much." Replied Brite.
The waitress then once again left Brite and Sabre to themselves. "Well, we've got the whole night to chug these down. Think you'll be down for a second round? Ya know, if you can outlast me during the first one?" Said Brite in a teasing manner.
"Well, if we're gonna make this into a competition, I guess I can see how long I can last against you." Replied Sabre with the same teasing manner.
Brite was happy to see that Sabre decided to come around with the whole drinking thing, a sign that he truly trusted her word. She grinned at his response and grabbed her glass and raised it up. "Alright then, cheers! To us!" Said Brite.
Sabre then grabbed his glass and raised it up as well. "To us!"
Clink*
In the interest of time...
"And when he turned around and saw it, he let out the loudest scream I've ever heard a grown man let out! I swear Sabre, that was one of the funniest moments of my life! Cuddle and I were on the floor practically crying!" Said Brite, slurring her words just a bit from the amount of alcohol she had consumed.
It had been about an hour since Brite and Sabre had gotten their first glasses, now they were about halfway through with their seventh. But believe it or not, they were still somewhat sober. Brite didn't drink very often, but she's proven to be a heavyweight. And apparently, Sabre was in the same weight class.
Sabre let out a slightly slurred laugh before responding to Brite. "Damn, you really did Rex dirty, ya know that?"
"Oh come on, it was Halloween! It was easily the best time to pull a fast one on him."
"But was the train horn afterwards really necessary?"
"Trust me, if you had seen what he did to me and Cuddle the Halloween before that, you'd be applauding me right now."
"I'll take your word for it, so what DID he do?"
"That's a story for another time I'm afraid."
"Was it that bad?"
"You have no idea Sabre."
"Well of course I don't, you won't tell me!"
Brite let out a laugh after hearing that one, leaving Sabre to wonder was amusing to her.
At that moment, a lightly tanned man with black hair and a pencil thin beard approached Brite and Sabres table, wearing a brown bomber jacket, blue jeans, and black boots.
"Well look what we have here?" Began the man in the brown bomber jacket. "If it ain't my favorite girl on the whole island. How you doin' baby?" He said as he placed his hand on the top corner of Brites chair. His attention was solely on her, he was paying Sabre absolutely no attention at all.
Brites mood immediately changed as she had a very annoyed look on her face once the man approached her. It seemed to help her sober up a bit too.
"I'm getting real tierd of your shit Maverick, I've already told you before. I am NOT interested!" Said Brite in a very annoyed tone.
"Oh come on now Brite baby, don't be like that. There's so many things I could give you." Replied Maverick.
Sabre meanwhile was eyeing Maverick very heavily, he didn't want to do anything rash just yet, but he would be lying if he didn't have a bit of a desire to give Maverick a nasty right hook, especially with the way he was talking to Brite.
"Yeah? You know what I'd like to give you? A kick to the groin!" Replied Brite, slowly becoming more aggressive towards Maverick.
"Aww, now that's no way to treat your future lover. But if it makes you feel better, we can still be friends."
"Maverick, get lost, my night was going just fine before you got here."
"Oh believe me baby, your night will get much better once you and I head over to my place, ya know, to have a little fun."
Brite shot Maverick an extremely dirty look, but Sabre had already had enough of his disrespect. So before Brite could retaliate, Sabre spoke up.
"Yo! She said get lost!" Shouted Sabre an a very aggressive tone. Maverick and Brite immediately turned to Sabre, who had gotten up from his chair and stood tall, waiting for Maverick to make his move.
Sabres shout had also gotten the attention of everyone else at the bar, as they all turned in his direction to see just what was going on. And from the looks of it, it looked like things were about to get ugly.
Maverick removed his hand from Brite Bombers chair and stood up himself, glaring at Sabre.
"Oh, I see now, you've gotten yourself a new man, a soon to be dead one that is." Said Maverick in an equally aggressive tone, not once breaking eye contact with Sabre.
"You can think whatever you want bro, but Brite here told you to leave her alone, so I'd suggest you listen to her."
Maverick began to approach Sabre, ready start a fight. "Oh I'm real scared of you asshole, over here tryin' to size me up like you're all tough."
Sabre held his ground, not giving Maverick any sort of sense of control to the slightest. "I'm not gonna tell you again, LEAVE. NOW."
"Or what tough guy? Come on! Make yo-"
Before Maverick could finish, he felt a hand grab his shoulder and turn him around, a fist belonging to Brite Bomber quickly connected to his face, knocking him on the floor. Maverick yelled in pain as he clutched the bridge of his nose, which began to bleed. It would seem that Brite Bomber had broken his nose with that punch of hers.
Sabre was surpiserd at how Brite had handled the situation. He knew that she could take care of herself, but he didn't expect for her to retaliate the way she did. Of course the guy definitely deserved it.
Sabre backed up as Brite Bomber stood over Maverick, looking very angry. "There are over two hundred bones in the human body Maverick, that was just ONE! You want me to break another one?!" Shouted Brite Bomber.
"Maverick!"
Brite and Sabre had turned to the direction of the voice, it came from a black man that had a blue Mohawk and a long black beard. He also had some tattoos on both of his arms. He was wearing a pair of black sunglasses, a black sleeveless shirt with a blue logo on it, black pants, and black boots. This was Anarchy Agent, but everyone simply called him Anarchy.
He was running up to the scene and approached Maverick. "Are you crazy Maverick?! What the hell you doin' tryin' to pick a fight with people?!"
"Anarchy, you better get this idiot outta here before I do something else to him!" Said Brite. It would seem that she knew him as well. He was a friend of Maverick, but unlike Maverick, Anarchy was actually a decent person, despite what the name my suggest.
"I'm sorry about him Brite, I guess the fool had one too many to drink tonight or something, I'll get him outta ya hair for ya."
"Please do." Replied Brite Bomber.
Anarchy grabbed Maverick and pulled him up. He grabbed his arm and placed it around his shoulder to support him. Once he was good to go, Anarchy helped Maverick make his way out of the bar, but not before Maverick decided to let out some final words.
"This ain't over Brite! I'll have you in my bed in no time! And I'll have your new lover in a box!" Shouted Maverick, still clutching his nose.
"Keep dreaming Maverick!" Get well soon!" Replied Brite with sarcasm in her voice.
Once the two were gone, the other people at the bar decided to return to their own business. Brite turned around to face Sabre.
"Well, that escalated quickly, don't ya think?" Asked Brite. Before Sabre could reply however, another voice interrupted him.
"Very quickly, if I do say so myself."
Brite and Sabre turned to see an older man walking up to them, wearing an apron.
"Oh, hi Mr.Baker, I'm sorry about what happened just now. I guess I could've handled that better." Said Brite.
"Oh that's nonsense my dear, that boy had it comin'. He causes nothing but trouble every time he comes in here. And after tonight, he certainly won't be welcome here anymore." Said Mr.Baker.
"Good to hear, oh, this is my friend Sabre." Brite motioned to Sabre. "He's new to the island. Sabre, this is Mr.Baker, he owns the place."
"Well any friend of yours is a friend of mine my dear." Said Mr.Baker as he extended a hand to Sabre. "A pleasure to meet you son."
Sabre reached out to Mr.Baker to exchange in his handshake. "Likewise Mr.Baker, I just wish we had met under better circumstances." Said Sabre.
"Ah don't worry about it son, I've met folks during far worse situations. Anyway, I do apologize on behalf of that fool you two. Y'all are welcome to some more drinks if you'd like, consider them and the ones you've already had on the house."
"That's very kind of you Mr.Baker, but I think it's best if Sabre and I call it a night, considering everything that's happened." Said Brite.
"I'm gonna have to agree with Brite on this one sir." Added Sabre.
"Well, I sure can respect that decision folks. Feel free to come back anytime. You two take care now, ya hear?"
"We certainly will, thanks again Mr.Baker. Come on Sabre." Said Brite as she began to make her way to the door.
"Right behind you Brite." Replied Sabre, who stayed behind for just a moment to exchange some gratitide. "It was good to meet you Mr.Baker, thanks again for everything."
"The pleasure was all mine son. And please, take good care of that girl now, you two make a fine couple if I do say so myself."
"Oh, uh, we're not actually a cou-"
"Sabre, you comin' or what?" Shouted Brite from the door.
"Coming! Have a good night Mr.Baker." Said Sabre before he headed to the door. Mr.Baker waved as the two departed before returning to his bar duties.
Later...
Brite and Sabre were walking over to Sabres condo after leaving the bar. Brite offered to walk him over just so they could spend a little more time together. They didn't talk much during the walk, but being in each others company was enough for the both of them.
Eventually the two reached the building where Sabres condo was located, it was at that moment that they decided to exchange some more words.
"Well, that was an interesting night to say the least." Began Sabre.
"You're telling me, dealing with that jerk Maverick was the last thing I expected. I'm sorry things turned out the way they did Sabre." Said Brite with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Oh come on Brite, what happened with that loser tonight was not your fault. And hey, up until that point, I had a great time."
Brite looked up to Sabre, a bit surprised by what he said. "Really? You mean that?"
"Of course I do! I got to hang out with my favorite person on the whole island, that's you by the way in case you didn't know. We shared a few drinks, some funny stories, and got to know eachother better. I'd say that's a good time in my book."
Brite Bomber then lunged at Sabre and gave him a tight hug, which got Sabre off guard completely. She had a knack for surprising him with her surprise hugs.
"Oh Sabre, I really needed to hear that. Thank you."
"No Brite, thank you. After all this was your idea." Replied Sabre, who returned the hug. "And by the way, you have a nasty right hook."
Brite let out a laugh when she heard Sabres comment.
The two then let eachother go before Brite spoke up again. "I still want to do something to make it up to you... Hey! I think I've got an idea! How about you and I join a duos match?"
"A duos match? You and me?" Asked Sabre.
"Sure! Why not? After all, you already played a match with Rex, and you did great. Which means you already know what to expect when you're in there. It'll be great! Just you and me kicking the asses of everyone in our way! So what do ya say?"
"I say hell yeah! I'd love that!"
"Great! I'll have spots arranged for us tomorrow. Oh this will be great Sabre! I can't wait!"
The next day...
"Brite, I know I did good during my first game with Rex and all, but are you sure landing at Tilted is a good idea?"
"Sabre, if there's one thing you gotta know when you squad up with me, it's that I ALWAYS play aggressive."
"And how often does that strategy work in your favor?"
"Well, I could tell you. But I think it would be much more fun to show you."
Brite and Sabre were currently participating in the duos match they had talked about the night before. They were sitting besides eachother in the battle bus, which was about to reach the skies over Tilted, the area where Brite wanted Sabre and herself to land.
Sabre figured that he did well in his match with Rex, especially considering that it was his first time ever participating in a battle royale. But he wasn't sure if landing in Tilted for only his second match was a good idea. But at the same time, he had Brite as his duo partner, and she was one of the best.
"I don't know about this Brite." Said Sabre, still uncertain about thier drop point.
"You worry too much Sabre, don't worry, you're gonna do great, I just know it. And even if you struggle a bit, I've got your back. Do you trust me?" Asked Brite Bomber.
Sabre looked Brite right in the eye, there was still some uncertainty in him, but he would be lying through his teeth if he said that Brite's word wasn't trustworthy. Not to mention, it was hard for him to say no to Brite, especially when he made eye contact with those beautiful hazel eyes of hers.
Focus dumbass! You're here for a fight, not a date!
"I do." Replied Sabre, this time with some determination in his voice.
"That's my hotshot." Replied Brite with a satisfied grin.
At that moment, the battle bus was approaching the skies over Tilted. Brite and Sabre got up from their seats and headed to the back of the bus to prepare for their jump.
"Okay, this is it Sabre. You're not gonna back out on me are you?" Asked Brite in a playful tone.
Brites playful energy began to rub off on Sabre, and he quickly responded to her.
"What, so I can let you have all the glory? I think not my dear."
"Oh Really? Well I guess we'll see who gets the glory once we see how many kills I carry you by."
"In your dreams Brite."
Brite and Sabres friendly little banter got the attention of some opponents on the bus, who were practically gossiping about them.
"Holy crap, those two need to get a room or something."
"Tell me about it, I can feel the sexual tension all the way from here."
Unfortunately for those two, Brite had ears like a hawk, and heard every word from them. She quickly turned around, and shot them a very threatening look, one that said, 'Keep talking and I'll tear your arms off!'.
The two randoms quickly shut themselves up and turned back around in thier seats. Sabre hadn't heard their comments at all, only keeping his mind on the drop to Tilted.
At last, the battle bus had reached the skies over Tilted, it was time for Brite and Sabre to jump.
"Alright, let's get our game on Sabre!" Said Brite, right before jumping out of the battle bus. Sabre was close behind as he jumped out himself.
"Right behind you! Here goes nothing!" Replied Sabre.
The two of them were now free falling towards Tilted, plummeting at rapid speeds. Considering where they were landing, it was probably a good thing that they were moving as fast as they were. Sabre had obviously never landed at Tilted while participating in a battle royale, but he was very well aware on just how big of a hotspot it was. Nearly half of the players on the battle bus would land there every match they played. Which of course made sense considering the amount of loot that Tiltled usually had to offer.
Brite and Sabre were getting close to Tilted, it was time for them to deploy their gliders. Once they did, Sabre activated his comms link to talk to Brite Bomber.
"Okay Brite, what exactly is the plan here?" Asked Sabre.
"Simple, we land at the tallest building here, loot up, and kick the ass of everyone else who lands here."
Hearing Brites response, Sabre turned his head to look around him, and their were at least thirty to forty other players landing with them.
"Well, with the amount of gliders I can see, I'd say that's a whole lotta' ass we gotta kick Brite." Added Sabre.
"Don't worry Sabre, we got this. Once we loot up, we'll run right through everyone here. Just stick with me, okay?"
"Alright, let's get this over with."
Brite and Sabre were getting near their drop point, the tallest building in Tilted. At the top of the building was a large penthouse, it offered a very large open window, perfect for a duo to glide right on into. That would be the entry point for Brite and Sabre.
"Alright Sabre, the tallest building here is our drop point. We're landing on the top floor. There's a huge open window that we can use to land right on in." Said Brite Bomber.
"Gothca, just keep in mind that we probably won't be the only ones planning on landing there." Responded Sabre.
"Oh I certainly hope not, I love me some competition."
Brite and Sabre began to descend towards the large open window leading into the penthouse. Brite Bomber glided inside first, quickly discarding her glider. Then came in Sabre, who landed inside only a short moment after her. He discarded his glider and took a look around the penthouse.
"Wow, this place makes my condo look like an average apartment." Commented Sabre, while admiring his surroundings.
"No time for sight seeing Sabre, we gotta loot up before somebody gets up here." Responded Brite Bomber.
"Right, you loot up this upper section of the penthouse, and I'll head downstairs and check out the rest of the place."
"Okay, sounds good."
With that, the two split up in search for loot while both remaining in the penthouse together. While searching for loot however, two players who had jumped from the bus late decided to land in the penthouse that Brite and Sabre were currently occupying. They landed right through the same window that they did just a short time ago. Brite Bomber was in another room when they landed in, and didn't hear them. Sabre was still downstairs, and didn't hear them come in either.
The two players that landed inside knew very well that other players had to have landed inside before them, and all that they had to defend themselves were their pickaxes. They would have to move in as quietly as possible to have any chance of taking out an enemy team. They had no idea that both Brite and Sabre were both in the penthouse at that very moment. But then again, Brite and Sabre didn't know that they were there either.
Brite Bomber was going through the upstairs bedroom checking for loot. She managed to find a hand cannon, useful at range, but not ideal in close quarters. She also found some shield potions, and bandages, but she would need more if she wanted to stand a chance against other players who were probably well equipped with better weapons by now.
Just then, Brite Bomber heard footsteps approaching her while she was in the bedrooms bathroom searching for more loot.
"Sabre?" Is that you?" Asked Brite out loud.
Brite got no response, and the footsteps were only getting closer. She slowly walked out of the bathroom, hand cannon in her hand, cautiously approaching the open door that lead out of the bedroom.
"Sabre, if you're trying to scare me, you're gonna be in for a nasty surprise!"
Still receiving no response, Brite continued to move towards the open door with her hand cannon at the ready. Once she was close, she quickly shifted herself in front of the open door, aiming her hand cannon in its direction. There was nothing there, the upper floor looked to be completely deserted.
Brite was starting to think that her mind was playing tricks on her, until a player suddenly emerged from behind a wall and swung a pickaxe at her.
Thankfully, Brite Bomber had quick reaction time and managed to dodge the pickaxe with relative ease. With the pickaxe missing her completely, the random ended up swinging it into a wall, getting it stuck in the process. Seeing this, Brite saw her opportunity to get an easy elimination off of the chump.
She aimed her hand cannon right at his head, but before she could pull the trigger, the players partner suddenly emerged from a nearby hallway behind Brite, with an SMG that he managed to find.
He saw that Brite was about to take out his partner, but being the noob that he was, he panicked and shouted when he saw his partner in trouble, rather than just shoot Brite and save him.
"Mike!" Shouted the noob with the SMG.
Both Brite and 'Mike' turned around to see the armed noob behind them. Taking advantage of his panic, Brite quickly repositioned herself behind a nearby counter to avoid the gunfire that would soon occur. Once the noob with the SMG had realised what had just happened, he quickly aimed his gun at Brite Bombers cover and opened fire, spraying the counter with bullets. The noob by the name of Mike however tried to pull his pickaxe out of the wall, rather than help his partner deal with Brite.
Meanwhile, Sabre was downstairs in a laundry room, and hadn't heard Brite Bomber calling for him earlier. The gunfire coming from the noobs SMG however was more than loud enough to get his attention. Hearing the gunfire, Sabre quickly began to make his way to the second floor of the penthouse, with a drum shotgun that he had managed to find, fearing that Brite may be in trouble.
Back with Brite and the noobs, the noob was still spraying Brites cover. He refused to let go of the trigger until Brite was down.
Unfortunately for the noob, his SMG didn't have a a magazine with infinite bullets. This became clear to him when his SMG stopped firing, despite his finger still pulling on the trigger.
"Oh no, oh no! oh god! Oh god!" Said the noob about loud, now in a state of panic.
Hearing this, Brite stood up from her cover in a somewhat graceful manner, with her hand cannon pointed at the noob, with an evil looking grin on her face.
"Oh way to go Jerry, you had a gun and you STILL managed to screw things up!" Said the noob Mike, who had no luck in getting his pickaxe out of the wall.
"Well you certainly didn't help by getting your pickaxe stuck in a wall! Not to mention you couldn't even get it out! I mean seriously who does that?!" Said the noob named Jerry.
Brite let out a giggle, clearly enjoying the two noobs bickering at one another.
"Nice try boys, but you should've landed at somewhere a little less hostile." Said Brite, before pulling the trigger twice and eliminating the two noobs. They both hit the ground, dropping the very small amount of loot that they had before being returned to the BR station.
At that moment, Sabre had emerged from the room he was in, drum shotgun in hand, looking for Brite.
"Brite! Where are you?! You alright?!" Shouted Sabre, now go was growing worried when he didn't immediately see Brite when he stepped out.
Just then, he heard slow footsteps coming from the second floor, approaching the ledge that overlooked the first floor of the penthouse. There emerged Brite Bomber, with her hand cannon in hand, smoke still coming out of the barrel.
"No worries hotshot, we're all good here. It'll take a helluva lot more than a pair of noobs to get the jump on me." Said Brite, as she leaned up against the edge of the railing on the ledge, closing her eyes as she blew the smoke off of the barrel of her hand cannon.
Wow... I totally might have a crush on her...
Get a grip dude!
Snapping himself out of his thoughts, Sabre let out a sigh of relief. "Phew, glad to see you're okay. You definitely had me worried there." Said Sabre, looking at Brite from the first floor.
"Your concern for me is sweet Sabre." Said Brite in a mildly flirty tone.
Sabre blushed at her comment a bit, trying to make it not so obvious that he was doing so.
"Hehe, we'll, it's jus-"
Before Sabre could finish his sentence, the main door leading into the penthouse swung open, revealing two new players, and they were both armed.
"Sabre! Behind you!" Shouted Brite Bomber.
Sabre almost immediately turned around and unloaded his drum shotgun at the two players, quickly eliminating them in the process. The hit the round hard, dropping all of their loot as they were returned to the BR station.
"Nice reaction time there Sabre." Complimented Brite.
"Thanks, those two scared the shit outta me." Replied Sabre.
"Well there's bound to be more teams out there. Come on, let's take a look outside and see who else we've gotta deal with."
Brite and Sabre began to make their way to the lower exit of the building that they were in. They didn't bother with trying to find loot on their way down though. After all, with multiple teams inside of it, any loot that was there was bound to be gone by now.
Brite and Sabre had made it to the ground floor and approached the main exit. When they stepped outside, they were greeted by an absolute war zone. They could see multiple teams all fighting one another. Gunfire and explosions could be heard and seen in practically every direction. Brite and Sabre definelty had their work cut out for them.
"That's certainly alotta enemys we've got to deal with." Commented Sabre.
"You nervous?" Teased Brite.
"With you at my side? Nah. We should be able to clear them out in no time."
"Oh Really? Well in that case, try to keep up." Brite then cocked back her gun before getting into a battle stance.
"Let's clean house hotshot."
In the interest of time...
Brite and Sabre had practically been on an elimination spree ever since they landed at Neo Tilted, as they quite literally cleared the place out. The first two teams that they had dealt with in the building earlier were just the beginning. Once they stepped out of that building however, they went on a rampage. They were eliminating players left and right, taking out anyone that was in their way, and making it look easy in the process. And with all of the kills that they got together, they got some pretty good loot too. Brite managed to get her hands on a fifty caliber heavy sniper rifle, while Sabre got a SCAR assault rifle.
Alot of time had passed since Brite and Sabre had began their elimination spree, so much time that there was only one other team left. They had also gotten incredibly lucky, as the zone looked like it would be closing out in Tilted. Brite and Sabre wouldn't have to go anywhere. As a result, they decided that the best thing they could do was wait for the last remaining duo to come to them. Brite and Sabre where currently held up in a medium sized building on the sixth floor. There was a numerous amount of windows where they were positioned. The windows provided a view of a large hill in the not too far distance that overlooked Neo Tilted.
While Brite and Sabre were waiting for the last duo to reveal themselves, they began to engage in some small talk.
"Where do you think these guys are Brite?" Asked Sabre.
"Well, they're definitely not here in Tilted with us. We would've noticed them by now." Answered Brite.
"Good point, guess we'll see if they can put up a better fight than the rest of our opponents did."
"Sounds like you've been enjoying yourself since you landed here at Tilted with me."
"Are you kidding me? I've been having a blast! I thought things would be alot tougher for me here, but it's turned out to be a great time."
"See? I told you this would be fun."
"It definitely is, especially with you as my teammate. You've been taking down players and making it look easy."
"Oh, stop. I didn't do all that much."
"I'm serious Brite, you're level of skill is ridiculous. Now don't get me wrong, Rex can hold his own when it counts, but you're practically a god when it comes to this stuff. You're amazing Brite."
Brite couldn't help but blush hearing that. Sabre never ceased to warm Brites heart with the things he would say to her. It was as if he always knew what to say to her. But at the same time, Brite really wished that Sabre would choose a better time to make her feel this way. This was because they still had one last team to deal with, and they have no idea where they were.
"You really know how to make a girl blush you know that?" Said Brite with a smile on her face.
Sabre let out a nervous laugh while rubbing the back if his neck. Really only Brite could make him feel like this.
"Well thanks I guess... You know Brite, I wa-"
BANG!
"AHHH!" Brite Bomber yelled out in pain as she took a fifty caliber sniper bullet to the shoulder, downing her in the process.
"BRITE!" Yelled Sabre as he rushed over to check on her. Th sniper shot definelty caught the two off guard. The two were so distracted with one another that they hadn't noticed the last duo position themselves on the hill that was overlooking Neo Tilted. The hill also provided a good vantage point on Brite and Sabres position.
Good for the enemy duo, not so good for Brite and Sabre.
The duo who attacked them were doing a bit of bickering at the moment.
"Damn! I was going for the head." Said Scoundrel, who was the one who took the sniper shot that downed Brite Bomber.
"Ugh, I should've known better than to let you take the shot Scoundrel." Said Omega, who was Scoundrels duo partner. The two had joined in on this duos match after Scoundrel suggested that Omega played a match to relieve some stress. The two had been going on a rampage ever since they joined. Now that they knew that Brite Bomber and Sabre were the last duo left, they now had a new reason to win the match.
"Hey, I downed her didn't I?"
"By nothing short of a miracle. Now stand asside, I'm going to use our recently aqquiered minigun to prevent that fool Sabre from healing Brite Bomber. Defeating these two in a battle royale will definitely add insult to injury once I've killed them both in the real world."
Back with our preferred duo, Brite was lying on the floor, clutching her shoulder. It was moments like this that she wished that she couldn't feel such levels of pain while participating in a battle royale match.
Sabre ran up to her helped her sit up against a wall, one that was far away from any windows.
"Ugh... Shit... They downed me." Said Brite weakly, still clutching her wound as after Sabre sat her up.
"Are you alright?" Asked Sabre, who was extremely worried for Brites well being, despite them only being in a BR match.
"Trust me... Ugh... This isn't the first time I've taken a hit this hard."
"Don't worry, I'll patch you up and you'll be back in the fight."
Before Sabre could get the chance to patch up Brite Bomber, a hail of bullets suddenly penetrated the wall in front of him and Brite, forcimg Sabre to duck to avoid being hit.
"That's a damn minigun!" Shouted Sabre amidst the incoming gunfire.
"Sabre run!" Yelled out Brite Bomber, still downed and leaning against the wall.
"But what about you?!"
"Forget about me, just run!"
Sabre didn't want to leave Brite behind, but realistly, there was no way he would be able to heal her without getting downed himself, costing them the match. So reluctantly, Sabre complied and ran off for better cover.
While he ran, the miniguns bullets shredded the wall behind Brite, effectively eliminating her from the match. She fell over as her digital form was absorbed by a drone, her loot spilled all over where she just was.
Sabre found new temporary cover and looked over to see that the only thing left of Brite was her loot.
"No!" Yelled out Sabre.
Just then, Sabres earpiece went off.
"Sabre, I'm okay, don't worry. I'm back at the BR station, I'm spectating you from one of the monitors here." Said Brite Bomber via comms link.
"Oh, right, sorry. Forgot this is pretty much just a game." Replied Sabre.
"That's okay. Look, it's just you now, and it looks like Omega and Scoundrel are the last duo."
"What?! The guys who we ran into at Durr Burger the other night??"
"Yup, well at least two of them. Anyway, you've still got a chance to win this. You might be able to grab my heavy sniper that I dropped. It should hopefully give you a fighting chance."
"Well, I kinda feel like the odds are against me, but I'll give it a shot."
"You can do this Sabre, I know you can."
"Alright then, let's do this."
Sabre was currently positioned behind a wall with no windows, but he would have to run back to where Brite was in order to grab her heavy sniper rifle. Which meant he would have to dodge a whole lot more minigun fire. There was no way for him to leave the room without being sniped or shredded by that minigun, otherwise he would've just left the building and flanked the two, so picking off at least one of them with Brites heavy sniper was his best chance. If he could manage to down at least one of them, it would give him a chance to push them, thus evening the odds.
"The fool is cornered, he has nowhere to go. The very second he shows himself, I'll shred him to pieces." Said Omega, waiting for Sabre to break from cover.
"We've definelty got him now boss, this is in the bag now." Added Scoundrel.
Sabre positioned himself to get a running start. He had alot of windows to run by, so he would have to be fast. At that moment, Sabre lunged himself forward, running as fast as his legs could carry him. Omega saw this, and began spoiling up his minigun. The minigun then began firing, hailing down bullets at rapid speeds. Sabre ran as the hail of minigun fire ricocheted around him, shattering the glass of the windows that he ran by. The room that he was in was already pretty big, and the seemingly never ending minigun fire made it feel even bigger.
"How are none of these shots hitting him?!" Shouted Omega angrily has he continued to fire the minigun.
"Don't let up boss!" Shouted Scoundrel over the minigun fire.
Once Sabre was close enough, he slide over to Brite Bombers loot, getting himself into cover in the process. He leaned up against the wall to catch his breath. He was amazed that he somehow managed to not get hit by a single shot during that sprint, but he patted himself down just to be certain.
"Dammit! He managed to get himelf to cover. At least he ended up cornering himself in the process again." Said Omega, frustrated that none of his shots managed to connect.
"I don't know how you didn't hit a single shot there boss, he left himself exposed for a while there." Commented Scoundrel.
"I didn't ask for your commentary Scoundrel! Now make yourself useful and have your sniper ready. I don't want give this fool any chance of making it out of that room."
"Okay, okay, just try to work on that aim of your this time yeah?"
Omega growled at Scoundrel under his breath but continued to focus his attention on the window. He had no intention of giving Sabre on sort of advantage.
You've got nowhere to go Sabre. You're mine...
Meanwhile, Sabre had managed to get a hold of Brites loot. She had alot of useful items on her, but it was her heavy sniper rifle that would act as the game changer in his situation. The range and damage that the rifle provided would be just what Sabre needed to even the odds against Omega and Scoundrel.
The only problem however, was that they knew exactly where he was. Sabre had cornered himself by getting to Brites loot, leaving him only one direction to break cover from. Not only that, but he also didn't know where exactly Omega and Scoundrel were positioned at, only their direction. Two problems that he would need solutions for.
Sabre looked around the room he was in, without moving from his spot of course, hoping to spot something that he could use to his advantage. To his surprise, he spotted a large mirror, hanging on the wall across from him. Upon taking a good look at it, said mirror just also happened to give Sabre a relatively clear view on Omega and Scoundrels current position.
Well that's convenient...
Sabre could see both Omega and Scoundrel positioned on the edge of a large hill that was overlooking Neo Tilted. They both had there weapons aimed at the window that he was currently closest to. Omega had a minigun, and Scoundrel had a heavy sniper rifle, just as Sabre did.
Scoundrels weapon posed more of a threat to Sabre at that moment, as it would take a moment for Omega to spoil up his minigun before he could open fire, while Scoundrel could instantly pull the trigger as soon as Sabre showed even a glimpse of himself. It made Sabre wonder why Omega wasn't spoiling up his minigun already.
Heavy sniper rifles were no joke in BR matches. If Sabre made the wrong move, Scoundrel could down him instantly, costing him and Brite match. Sabre needed a way to draw Scoundrels attention, something that would give him enough time to get a shot off. If he managed to down Scoundrel, it would give him an opportunity to push the two of them. Then he would have a fighting chance. But the storm would be approaching soon, and it looked like Omega and Scoundrel would have zone control. Sabre would have to act fast.
Sabre checked his surroundings again, hoping to find something he could use to bait Scoundrel. His eyes stopped when he spotted a basketball, sitting only a few inches away from him. It wasn't much, but there was nothing else in the room that he could grab without getting shot.
Sabre reached over and grabbed the basketball. The ball was in one hand, and Brites heavy sniper rifle was in the other. He was hoping that the ball would be enough to get Scoundrel to fire a shot, which would hopefully distract him long enough to give Sabre an opportunity to position himself to fire a shot of his own. This would be the only opportunity for Sabre to get the upper hand.
Brite Bomber was watching this all unfold from the monitors back at the BR station, in the real world. She choose not to speak to Sabre, letting him focus on the match. She looked over at the terminal that she was in only moments ago. Next to her terminal was Sabres. There sat Sabre himself, eyes closed, and sitting motionless as his mind was still in the BR match.
You've got this hotshot...
Sabre inhaled deeply, knowing that if he screwed this up, it was over. Once he exhaled, he tossed the basketball pass the windows, making sure that Scoundrel had a clear sight of it.
BANG!
A heavy sniper rifle gunshot flew right into the room, flying right past the basketball that Sabre threw, hitting the wall behind it. Scoundrel had fired his rifle on pure instinct when he saw the basketball enter his line of sight.
"Ah bloody hell! That wasn't him!" Said Scoundrel, frustrated that he had been fooled so easily.
"Scoundrel you fool! That's one of the oldest tricks in the book!" Said Omega, clearly not happy with Scoundrel.
"Hey I didn't think the bloke had a strategy! I thought he would make another run for it!"
With Scoundrel distracted, Sabre saw his opportunity, and quickly got up and positioned himself for a shot of his own. He aimed his rifle directly at Scoundrel and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
The heavy sniper rifle bullet ripped through the air at the speed of light, quickly making contact with it's designated target, which was Scoundrels chest.
"AHHH!!!!" Yelled Scoundrel in pain as the bullet hit him dead on, downing him instantly.
"Yes!" Said Sabre aloud, happy to see that his strategy played off.
"Oh well that's just terrific! Now you're literally just dead weight Scoundrel! What could I have possibly done in my life to deserve a teammate as useless as you?!" Shouted Omega in frustration.
"Can you quit being a bloody bloke and just heal me??!!"
"Argh! Just hold still you fool!"
Sabre managed to even the odds for now, not wasting any time, he immediately headed to the door and made his way to the buildings exit in full sprint. He had to make it to Omega before he could get Scoundrel back on his feet.
Sabre reached the exit of the building that he was in, and was running towards Omega and Scoundrels location. While healing Scoundrel, Omega managed to catch sight of Sabre at the corner of his eye.
"Oh no you don't!" Said Omega out loud. He stopped healing Scoundrel and took aim at Sabre with an assault rifle he had with him. Omega pulled the trigger and rained down gunfire in Sabres direction below. Sabre was in full sprint, dodging and weaving every shot that Omega could get off.
Can no one in this island aim?? Or am I just a master at dodging incoming gunfire??
Omega still had the height advantage, but once Sabre was close enough to the hill, he pulled out a grenade that he had gotten from Brite Bombers loot from earlier. He pulled the pin and threw it up as high as he could, hoping that it would land by Omega.
Turned out that Sabre had a pretty good throwing arm, as the grenade in question landed only mere inches away from Omega and Scoundrel. Omega saw this and immediately ran as fast as he could to avoid being caught in the grenades blast radius, leaving Scoundrel behind in the process.
"Oh you've gotta be fu-"
KABOOM!
The grenade went off, the blast both loud and large, effectively eliminating Scoundrel. It was now a one versus one, Omega versus Sabre.
Unfortunately for Omega, the grenade that Sabre threw at him had caused Omega to lose sight of Sabre completely. The zone had shrunk significantly, leaving only a small amount of the hill out of the storm. So Omega knew that wherever Sabre was, he was close by. The problem for Omega however, was that he was in the middle of the current zone. He still had a bit of a height advantage, but Sabre could flank him from pretty much any direction.
"Come on out and show yourself Sabre! I have no patience for cowards!"
Omega looked around frantically, with his rifle in hand. He had no idea where Sabre could emerge from. He heard the sound of twig snapping near him, and immediately turned in the direction of the sound and opened fire. But there was nothing there.
"Stop toying with me and fight Sabre!"
Omega was secretly beginning to panic, if he was more humble, he would probably admit that Sabre was good at messing with his opponents.
The zone was continuing to shrink, and Omega still had no idea where Ssbre was. But he had to start moving closer to the new zones center. He ended up positioning himself near a bush and crouched behind it, it was the only sort of cover that he had.
He would soon realise the error of his ways.
While Omega was crouched behind the bush, a figure slowly emerged from it.
The figure tapped Omegas shoulder, Omega quickly turned around and found himself facing the barrel of a pump action shotgun.
"Dammit."
BANG!
The shotgun blast went off in Omegas face, immediately eliminating him. He hit the floor, spilling out loot everywhere before beimg absorbed by a drone.
VICTORY ROYALE!
Sabre had done it, against all odds, he had done it.
"Who would've thought?" Said Sabre to himself with a smile. He was then absorbed by a drone himself and returned to the BR station.
Sabre awoke back in his terminal, getting up from his seat.
"You did it!"
Sabre turned around to see an ecstatic Brite Bomber approaching his direction.
"It was nothing short of a miracle I assure you." Replied Sabre, happy that he managed to pull it off, and even happier to see Brite's joy.
"Oh don't give me that, you clutched up! I knew you could do it! Replied Brite before hugging Sabre. Sabre couldn't help but return the hug, feeling the same amount of joy as Brite was.
"Ahem."
Sabre and Brite turned in the direction of the sound, still holding onto eachother to see Maven, the woman who handled prize distribution, standing before them.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Said Maven.
Sabre and Brite let go of eachother, both looking a little bit embarrassed.
"Oh, no no, we were just, really happy about how things turned out." Replied Brite Bomber, trying to straighten herself up.
"Oh that's fine, don't let me stop you two. Anyway, I just wanted to say that the two of you performed incredibly well today. I'm of course already well aware of your talents Brite Bomber, but the two of you together put on quite a show. And you Sabre, are proving to be quite a force to be reckoned with. You had the folks at home on the edge of their seats."
"Wait what? Oh right, I forgot that these were sometimes televised." Said Sabre.
"Yup, and the ratings should be going through the roof after that match of yours. Anyways, I've got your winnings over in my office, if you two would kindly follow?"
"You betcha, lead the way Maven." Said Brite.
The two then made their way over to Mavens office to collect their earnings.
Later...
Evening was approaching, Sabre and Brite Bomber were walking over to Brites place in Paradise Palms after Brite decided that she was gonna call it a day. Sabre offered to walk Brite home in order to spend a little more time with her, to which Brite happily accepted. The two had already reached Paradise Palms and were nearing Brite Bombers place, and they had been chatting about the days events ever since they began their journey.
"And when you were dodging Omegas shots when you were making a break for the hill, it looked like a scene from an action movie that Rex would make me watch! But this time it was awesome because it was YOU who was doing It! I swear Sabre, you're a master at dodging bullets!" Said Brite Bomber, practically fangirling over Sabres play from earlier.
"Well NOTHING was as awesome as when you collateraled that duo by the banana stand! They're probably still freaking out about that!" Replied Sabre, who was practically fanboying over BRITES play from earlier.
"Oh my god I totally forgot about that! I swear those two were clueless as to what happened once I hit that shot!"
The two were exchanging laughs with eachother during the whole conversation. After a little while longer, they finally made it to Brites place, the outside of it anyway.
Sabre had never seen where Brite Bomber actually lived, he knew that she lived in Paradise Palms, but that was only because she mentioned it before. Sabre took a moment to look at her place from the outside, and it was nice. He figured that someone of her status would live somewhere nice, but he didn't expect it to be THIS nice.
"Holy shit Brite, THIS is your place??" Asked Sabre, taken aback by Brite's home.
"It sure is. I don't mean to brag, but I make a pretty good living for myself, so I figured I'd have a nice place to call my own." Replied Brite Bomber.
"Well nice is an understatement if you ask me, this puts the condo I stay at to shame."
"Oh, you're too kind. I'll definitely have to invite you over sometime to see more of the place."
"I would most certainly be down for that."
The two exchanged smiles at eachother, then they just stood there for a moment in silence in front of Brite's front door. Short, but awkward silence. That was until Brite decided to break said silence.
"Well, I should probably get inside, I'm beat after today."
"Yeah same, I'm gonna head back to my place. Thanks again for bringing me along with you today Brite, I had a great time."
"Thank you for letting me take you Sabre, it was the least I could do after last night. And thanks for walking me back home."
"Anytime, I was just happy to spend some more time with you. So, I'll see you later then?"
"You know it, goodnight Sabre."
"Goodnight Brite."
With that, Brite turned around and opened her front door to walk inside, while Sabre turned around to make his way back to his place. As Brite was about to walk inside and close the door behind her, she stopped herself and turned around and began to jog over to Sabre before he left.
Sabre was walking away from Brites place, but stopped when he heard footsteps approaching him. He turned around and saw Brite jogging up to him. Once Brite was close enough, she placed a hand on the side of Sabres face and gave him a quick peck on his cheek.
Sabre froze, only moving his eyes to look at Brite. He did his best to not look absoulty shocked, but Brite could still see it in his face, to which she only gave him a warm smile in response. She then took her hand off of the side of his face and walked back over to her door, walking inside and closing it behind her.
Sabre meanwhile just stood there, and placed a hand on the side of his face that Brite had just kissed him on. He couldn't believe that had just happened. Sabre managed to get his composure however and began to make his way back to his condo. However, Brites kiss would be on his mind for the rest of his night, and maybe even longer than that.
Did that just happen??
...
Well it looks like Brite Bomber and Sabre are growing REALLY close. You know what that means right? They can only grow closer. And we will definitely see more of that in the next chapter. Which I will hopefully get out sooner than this one. Sorry again for the long ass wait. Until then folks, see ya!
