I do not own the 100 or anything related to the show.

Clarke stood by the balcony in her room with Madi in her arms. It had been a week since she's been stuck at this place, Polis is what they called it. Polis looked very pretty from her room. Of course, she had never seen it up close because she wasn't allowed out. If she even thought about leaving, someone was already there stopping her.

Clarke was playing with Madi, showing her the sky. "Do you see that up there? Those are clouds. They have water in them that they collected from water that came from the ground. And beyond that is the sky and then space. That's where I came from." Madi obviously had no idea what Clarke was saying, but she smiled and laughed away.

"Yep silly kid. I came from a place called the Ark. 12 nations came together to become one big station. We lived there for 97 years. Well I didn't live there that long. I'm not that old." Clarke laughed along with Madi.

Lexa was standing behind them listening to Clarke with a huge smile on her face. She still felt weird seeing Clarke with a child, but for some reason it made her feel warm inside seeing her be so caring with Madi. Lexa stood there admiring them. Clarke looked much better now being here in Polis. When she first arrived, she looked a complete mess. Not the old Clarke she frequently had dreams about. Madi noticed Lexa behind them and let out a happy shriek. Clarke turned around and soon her smile was gone, "I was not to be disturbed."

Lexa's face soon turned into the cold commander face, "They are my guards at the end of the day." Clarke scoffed and rolled her eyes. "What can I do for you commander?" "You don't have to call me that. Not when it's just us. You can call me Lexa." Clarke looked at Lexa and this time really looked at her. She wasn't wearing her usual commander gear or her war paint. She was wearing her black jeans, a gray shirt, and the red sash, but not the coat. She did, however, still carried her sword.

"Ok Lexa, what can I do for you?" Lexa walked closer to Clarke with her hands behind her back, "I was wondering if you and Madi would like to walk around Polis with me?" Clarke wasn't sure what to say. She did want to get out of the room, but was she ready to be around Lexa?

"I cleared my day and made sure I was not to be disturbed unless necessary." Lexa saw the hesitation in Clarke, "If you do not wish to come with me, I can always find someone else to escort you." Lexa had turned around to go find someone to go with Clarke when Clarke stepped forward to speak, "No. It's ok. You've already cleared your day and I can not say no to the commander. We will go."

Lexa gave her a stern look, "I was asking as Lexa and not the commander. I am not commanding you to do anything you do not wish to do." Clarke was taken aback to Lexa getting a bit defensive and apologized, "I'm sorry Lexa. I didn't mean to...sound like you were ordering me. I would like to go see Polis with you." Clarke gave her a small smile, which Lexa returned.

Lexa reached for the door and turned to look at Clarke. "Very well. I will give you a moment to get ready. I will be in the throne room once you're both ready to go." At that, Lexa left the room leaving Clarke stunned.

She just agreed to go with Lexa. Was she even ready for that?

Clarke had called the maid when Lexa left to help her run a bath for her and Madi. After, she let the maid dress Madi in a pretty dress that the guard had dropped off a few days ago while she went to dress herself. Madi's dress was an off white color with roses all over. Clarke was wearing black jeans and a regular t-shirt with her black combat boots. Madi definitely looked like she was going to a dance and not a walk in the town.

Clarke put on the baby strap and gently placed Madi inside, careful not to ruin the dress. She packed a few snacks and toys for Madi. She had no idea how long they would be gone, but she was not going to risk letting Madi go without food for long. "You ready to go bunny?" Clarke loved calling Madi bunny. She was just as energized as one.

Clarke and Madi both headed towards the throne room. Lexa was standing by the balcony, admiring Polis and patiently waiting for Clarke. The blonde had cleared her throat to let Lexa know she was there. The commander turns around and gives them a small smile, "It looks like Madi rather enjoys my gift." "You gave her the dress?" Clarke was both shocked and confused. Why would Lexa get anything for Madi.

"I thought one of the guards just randomly decided to bring it up….thank you. Clearly she likes it." Madi let out a big laugh which made Clarke and Lexa laugh too. At the sound of Lexa's laugh, Clarke stopped laughing and just stared at her. She's never heard such a pretty laugh before. Wait what was she thinking? Lexa left her. She can't be thinking she's pretty!

"So...shall we get going before some war starts and needs your attention?" Lexa's face became stone cold, "Is there something I need to know Clarke?" Clarke looked at Lexa and realized that jokes are not a thing here, "No! Not at all. I meant it as a joke. Like hahaha funny." Lexa gave her a look, "Very well. Let's get going."

When they reached the outside, Clarke stood there for just a moment. Closing her eyes and letting the rest of her senses take over. The smell of crisp fresh air hit her nostrils, the sound of life hit her ears and the bright sun burning her face. She let out a small sigh and opened up her eyes, to which she found a very concerned Lexa staring at her. "Clarke are you alright? Do we need to go back up?"

At the sound of the last question, Clarke's eyes went wide, "No!" Clarke realized how loud she was and how defensive the guards around them got, "I'm sorry. What I meant to say is, no. There is nothing wrong. I am fine. I was just enjoying being out. It's different than being up there on the balcony."

Lexa nodded in understanding and started walking again, "Well, welcome to will start with the market." Clarke looked around as they were walking and she was completely mesmerized. There are so many people walking around living their lives. People behind stands, offering their foods or objects to whoever would care to listen. Clarke had never seen anything like it. Madi seem to agree with her since she could not stop babbling and getting excited at everything.

"Wow. It's...Uh really pretty. What goes on here?" "Here the people of polis each have a tent where they sell or trade what they would like. Each one has their own skill to offer. There are no 2 alike. Everything here is unique to you or to the creator." Lexa stopped at a stand and talked to the person in charge. After bowing to the commander, the old lady handed her a pretty pink dress, "Clarke, meet Misa. She makes clothes for people or fixes them up. I asked her to make this for Madi."

Clarke was once again taken aback at how thoughtful Lexa was being with Madi. She was hoping that this did not seem that she would forgive Lexa so easily. Misa stretches out her arms toward Clarke and bows, "For you, Wanheda. Thank you for returning my son." Clarke wasn't sure how to answer, so Lexa decided to. "Thank you for this wonderful gift Misa. Please accept this as payment." The commander started reaching for her pocket when Misa kneeled in front of her, "Please Heda. Take this gift. I do not wish to receive anything. Wanheda has brought me back to my family. She has saved us all and no payment would be worthy."

Clarke crouched down next to Misa while supporting Madi, "Thank you so much for the gift. I did nothing more than I was supposed to do. I am happy to have brought back your family. Please stand up." They both get up with the help of the guards. "Your child is very beautiful and lucky to have you as her mother. Thank you." Misa once again bowed to Clarke and then towards Lexa before retreading back to her post.

Clarke turned towards Lexa and gave her a smile. "I didn't realize that I did that for her. I can only think of killing and never thought of the others we helped before….", Clarke sighed. "Clarke, you saved a lot of people that day. You brought them back to their homes. I know you don't see the good of what was done, but I hope you understand it. Come. We have a full day ahead."

After what seemed like many many hours of walking around and getting to know Polis, Clarke finally speaks up, bouncing a very tired Madi, "Commander? Could we please rest or eat something. I think I'm gonna die." At the sound of that Lexa whips around and is right next to Clarke, "Are you alright. What's hurting you?" She calls one of her warriors to get the healer. Clarke laughs at which Lexa gives her a very confused look. "Commander, that's just a figure of speech. I didn't mean I was actually dying. I meant it like umm...I'm tired and just need to sit down. I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you panic. "

Lexa stopped her warrior from going anywhere and told them to bring them food by the river. "You have a very interesting way of saying you're tired. Very well if you wish to sit down, please follow me." Clarke let out a sigh, "I hope she really means it." She thought.

They walked another 10 minutes until they reached the river. There was an open field filled with flowers. Lexa took them to the center, "Please, sit. Food will be here soon." Clarke nodded and took out Madi from her carry on. Silence fell between them until Madi decided to alert everyone with her scream at the sight of a butterfly passing by. "Sorry. She really likes butterflies." Lexa looks at Madi and smiles. For once Clarke doesn't see the great commander. She doesn't see the person who left her at Mt. Weather. She sees Lexa. "I, too, love butterflies. I like to come here to admire them."

Before Clarke could reply, the guards returned with a basket full of all kinds of food. There were fruits, vegetables, chicken and what seemed to be pig, and all kinds of treats for dessert. "Wow. Are you going to feed the entire city? That's an entire cow right there." Lexa once again looks at her confused, "There is no beef here Clarke. Only chicken and boar." Clarke laughs at her and takes a big bite from a piece of chicken while also feeding Madi some veggies, "It's another figure of speech. Maybe I should start teaching you some."

After that there was silence. All the bellies were full of food. Madi started yawning after about 20 mins of finishing her meal, "Seems like it's someone's nap time." Clarke picks her up and cradles her in her arms. Soon Madi is sound asleep. "I should get back to my room and put her down. Thank you for today. I didn't realize I needed it." Lexa smiled at Clarke, but then it quickly fades. "Actually Clarke there is a reason why I wanted to see you today…..there's something I have been meaning to discuss with you…" Lexa took a deep breath and looked Clarke straight in the eye. Clarke could see she no longer was Lexa and she was now speaking to the commander, "Your mother is coming tomorrow."
