One week later
It has been a week since the twins went to live with their biological mom named Mary. The last has not been easy on everyone. With Riley who lost her friends to police violence, she has acted out and stuff. Amanda and Olivia don't know what to do about her.
Today Olivia, Riley, and Amanda were meeting up with the twins and their mom at the park.
A few hours later
At the park
Mary and the twins were sitting at the swing set when Amanda, Riley, and Olivia walked up to them.
"Riley!" The twins said as they ran over to Riley.
"Hi, little ones." Riley said as she hugged the twins.
"Mommy can we go play?" Makayla asked
"Sure." Mary said as the twins and Riley walked away.
"It's really great to see y'all again." Mary said
"Yes it is." Amanda said
"Do you mind me asking if you adopted Riley? Mary asked
"I adopted Riley even since she was a baby. I'm not sure if you know this, but I'm an SVU detective and she came to me when she was in trouble. Things happened to work out." Olivia said
Mary smiled.
"We are so sorry to hear that you lost your first daughter. We can't imagine how hard that would be. Amanda said
"Yeah, she'd be about Riley's age. Funny thing, her name was Riley. Mary said.
"Riley does look like me." Mary said as everyone turned to look at Riley.
"Our Riley was taken from us. Kidnapped by Mary's midwife and never seen again. After about three years, we decided we had to move on. Not that we forget her, not that I gave up on her, however, I needed to metaphorically bury her, or I'd have prayed for her every day, pray she is taken care of, loved, and growing strong, also praying she finds us one day. Mary said
Olivia and Amanda listened to them
"Have you always lived in New York? I assume you reported her missing? Amanda asked
"No, I used to live in Minnesota. I did report it to our local police station but…I'm not sure anything was ever done other than them making a report. I had our search team, I did our posters and TV appeals, but you see, the Mayor of our city didn't like my husband or me and she owned the sheriff. I can't say that anything was ever sent out of our town about our daughter. Mary said
"What if Riley's parents came forward? What would you do?
Olivia sighed.
"Faced in that situation, I don't know for sure. I'd think of Riley of course, I'd talk to her and see what she wanted. She looked at Mary.
"But I'd fight through hell and high water to keep her in our life. Olivia said
"Do yall think your Riley is out Riley? Mary asked, a bit of hope in her eyes.
"I honestly don't know." Olivia said as the twins and Riley ran back to them.
"Mommy, dy like." Mackenzie said as they ran other to Mary and. The twins and Riley also had ice cream in their hands.
"What is it sweetheart?" Mary asked
"Riley has the same necklace as you." Makayla said
"See." Makayla said as she handed Riley's necklace to Mary.
Mary looked at the necklace and broke down in tears.
Olivia and Amanda were speechless, they froze on the spot when they saw that Riley's necklace looked just like Mary.
"Mommy why are you crying?" Mackenzie asked
"Oh it nothing sweetheart." Mary said
The necklace was half a heart with a small heart in the middle. I love you to the moon and back and the bigger heart and daughter with Riley's birthstone on the little heart.
Mary looked up at and she could see tears in 's eyes. Then she handed Riley the necklace back.
"That is a petty necklace." Mary said
"Thank you." Riley said
"Look, we get ice cream." The twins said
"I hope it was okay." Riley said
"Yeah it's fine." Mary said as Riley looked at her phone.
"I got to go." Riley said
"You are leaving already?" Makayla asked
"Yeah, I'm sorry but there is something super important that i have to do." Riley said
"Okay, but can we hang out again?" Mackenzie said
"Sure, if it's okay with you mom." Riley said as the twins looked up at Mary and.
"Sure." said
"Yeah." The twins said
"I should really get going." Riley said
"Do you need a ride?" Olivia asked
"Nope, one of my friends is going to pick me up." Riley said
"I will be home before 10pm." Riley said as she saw her friends pull up to the park.
They watched Riley was away.
"Why do you and Riley have the same necklace?" Makayla asked
"I don't know sweetheart." Mary said
"How about you two go play at the park for a while." said
"Okay." The twins said as they ran back to the park.
"Riley is our baby girl." Mary said as she broke down in tears.
"Do y'all know what you're going to do about Emma? Olivia asked
"Not yet but I have seen how happy she is and how good you guys are with her. I don't feel right interrupting her life. just knowing that she's okay. Just knowing she's alive, happy, unhurt, that already eases quite a few of my fears. Mary said
"Okay you know how to reach us when you decide." Olivia said
"Thanks. Mackenzie. Makayla time to go." Mary said as the twins came running back to Mary and.
With that, Mary and the twins walked away and Olivia and Amanda started walking about their car.
When no one was looking Mary reached into the trash can and pulled out the scoop Riley used.
Then walked to her car and helped the twins into the car, then getting in herself.
