CHAPTER THREE, PT. 1

A new start

POV: Lyon, Natsu and Lucy

-Guys... we gotta find a way to get out of here- the blond girl said while staring at them.

The wind started blowing stronger and stronger and the sound of guns being shooted started. -The hell is that.?!- Natsu shouted. The three of them looked at the sky to find a helicopter with a red-haired girl staring at them.

-Are you three bitten?- she asked through a megaphone.

-No!- Lucy replied.

The red-haired girl made a signal and the helicopter started to descend into the ground. Once it landed, a doctor came out from the helicopter surrounded by a police officer and started to check their bodies for any sign of infection. -They're clean Ma'am- one of the doctors said.

-Alright, get in- she ordered.

-Wait, what's happening?- Lyon asked in cofusion.

-I'll explain everything. But first get in. We don't have enough time until more of those things come out of nowhere- Lyon, Lucy and Natsu agreed and went into the helicopter. Once they were all in, the helicopter started to move. -I'm Erza Scarlett. I'm in charge of the unit looking for people in danger-

-You mean we are saved?!- Natsu asked happily.

-We are going to our base with uninfected people. But is a long trip until we get there. You guys are lucky. We were just going on our way home and we happened to see the fire wall-

-But wait! We gotta find Gray and Juvia- Lyon reminded them.

-Who are they?- Erza asked.

-Gray is my step brother and Juvia is a girl from his University-

-I see. We will go and look for them in five days-

-What?!- Lyon exclaimed -Why don't you go after you leave us in your base?-

-A searching group goes out every five days to look for people-

Lyon stood up from his seat violently -They might be dead by the time your team finds them!-

-Listen. I know you're worried, but it's not my call-

-...- Lyon made two fists and held his anger.

POV: Gray and Juvia

Juvia's face was covered in blood as well as Gray's clothes and the man's body fell heavily into the ground.

-Ah... ah...- Juvia was trembling in fear. Gray fastly walked towards her and cleaned some of the blood form her face with his hands -You... shot him..!-

-I... I know...- he replied in disbelief -...You okay..?- his dead expression changed for one of concern and preocupation.

-Y-yeah...- He helped her get up but her legs were not able to hold her weak body. Gray quickly catched her by her waist before she could fell.

-I got you...- she looked at him and then hid her face in his chest. Tears of fear started to roll down her cheeks. Gray not knowing what to do, he just pulled her closer and hugged her. -I'm sorry I was late...- she shook her head and thanked him for saving her once again.

His heart was pounding. He wanted to held her even closer to his body. Her body was the perfect size to fit into his. The smell of blood was mixing with her perfume. He wanted to protect her. He did not want to let her get hurt. Why..?

They remained in that position for a moment until the sound of the dead ones coming closer became stronger. Gray gently pushed her away and stared at the crashed back door -We need to get out of here before those things come- Juvia nodded. He turned around and kneeled on the ground. -Get on-

-Eh..?-

-You're in no condition to run. I'll carry you-

-B-but--

-We don't have time for that! Those things will get here in any minute- she rapidly got on him and grabed him from his shoulders. She was lighter than expected and her hands felt so soft while she was holding on to him. Gray give ger the gun he had found a while ago -If there happens to be any walker coming I want you to shoot them on the head-

-I've never shooted before... but I guess there's a first time for everything...- They went out from the gas station's store and ran -Gray, where are we going?-

-My aunt used to live some blocks away. Maybe we can spend the night at her place-

-...-

Luckily for them, there were no walkers near them and managed to get into the small building safely. Gray took the key from under the carpet and let Juvia go inside first. -Aunt Ur?- Gray called his aunt, but she did not answer. -Stay here... I'll check on the second floor- But when he got there he collapsed on the floor. Juvia heared his fall and made her way to the second floor while grabing onto the wall. -Gray..?- But as soon as she saw it she gasped. His aunt's body was laying on the chair with a bullet hole on her head. Juvia quickly went next to Gray and held him tight trying to prevent him from seeing his aunt's body. Gray cried loudly while sobbing. Juvia started caressing his back and his head in an attempt to calm him down. -I'm so sorry...-

Gray hold her tight and after some minutes he stood up and cleaned his tears. -At least... she didn't go by the hands of those monsters-

-...- Juvia looked at him with sadness in her eyes.

-I'll just... bury her outside...- Gray went and carried his aunt's body into the garden.

After some hours he came back into the house. His eyes looked dead and showed no emotion. Juvia stood up from the couch and saw him walk inside. The young boy made his way into the kitchen, opened the fridge and pulled out a beer. He then walked towards the livingroom where Juvia was, sat next to her and opened the can. She just followed him with her eyes in complete silence. -Are you going to stay standing there ?-

The blue-haired girl shook her head -May I use the bathroom?- Gray just made a gesture with his hand while holding the can.

-You can wear my aunt's clothes. They might be a bit big but it'll do the job while your's are drying-

-Thankyou...- Juvia went upstairs and started removing her clothes. There was blood all over her body and the smell was unbearable. She let the water ran and slowly got into the shower. While she was showering, she saw her foot. It looked even worse than before. It was so swollen, that it almost looked black. Specially after the disgusting man stepped over it on purpose. It hurted like shit. She washed her hair and went out. As Gray said, the clothes were a little big, but that was not a big problem. She put a pair of shorts and an oversized shirt. She grabbed her dirty clothes and went down stairs. -Gray, when you're ready you can give me your clothes. I'll wash them- Gray stood up from the couch and took off his shirt, which made the girl started panicking -W-what are you doing?!-

-I'm taking my clothes off... That's what you said-

-N-no..! I mean-- she watched him closer and smell the alcohol coming out from his body -Are you drunk?-

-No...-

-Gray-

-Maybe...- she sighed and smiled at him. She understood he has had a difficult day. 'They' had a difficult day. She walked towards him with difficulty and removed his bangs from his face softly.

-Go up and take a shower- she smiled lovely. Gray blushed slightly but Juvia thought it was because of the alcohol. Her hands felt soft and her eyes where as beautiful as the sea. Her slight but sweet scent was intoxicating compared to the bloody smell that she had before. His heart started racing and he felt nervous. Was this the alcohol doing its job? He could not help himself but grab her delicate hand from his hand and place it on his chest. His heart was racing and he could not control it.

She watched him closely and felt how fast his heart was beating. Her face turned pink when she realized her hand was touching his naked torso. He definitely had the body of an athlete. She started feeling her heart beating as fast as his and ahe did not know why. Gray saw her become flustrated and smiled at her playfully. -What are you imagining, Juvia? It may better not be something dirty...- Her face turned even more blushed and he let out a giggle -You're cute- Gray let her hand go and took the clothes from her other hand. -I'll do the laundry and take a shower. You make sure to rest that foot of yours, it looks really bad- and with that said, he left the room.

What was this feeling?

-Its been a long time since I've eaten instant noodles- Juvia said.

-I know, right?-

They were both sitting on the couch while eating and enjoying each other's company. -How are you feeling?-

-After a shitty day like today, I've been better to be honest-

-I mean, of the alcohol. Are you still drunk?-

-I was never drunk. Just a bit tipsy- Juvia remembered the moment he took his shirt off and blushed. Was he playing with her? Gray noticed this and teasingly smiled -Why? Is there something bothering you?-

-Nothing- She ate her noodles and tried to evade his gaze. He looked too handsome after taking a shower.

-Would you like to drink? There is more alcohol on the fridge-

-...Sure- Gray smiled and made his way to the fridge. He took two cans of beer and took a vodka bottle from the counter -Your aunt sure drank a lot-

-Yeah, well... She enjoyed escaping from reality once in a while-

-Your aunt was wise- Gray sat next to her, opened the cans and gave one to her.

-Cheers- the both drank together.

-It's been so long since I've drank-

-You like drinking? You don't look like the tipe who drinks-

-Well, I can't drink much but I enjoy it-

-That's fine- he took a sip -May I ask you about before?- She looked at him for a second and nodded -Well, before when you mentioned the person you were dating you looked a little bit angry- Juvia was about to take a sip but she stopped and put the can down.

-Its because he brings bad memories- she looked at Gray -After two years of dating I found out he was cheating on me. And as if that wasn't enough, he made me a really insecure person. He would complain and crtizise me for absolutely everything. It took me a long time to become who I am today- she said this last sentence with a kind smile. How could someone be this cruel?

Gray took another sip and looked at Juvia from the side. She was a beautiful girl, and even though some punk managed to make her so much damage. Some guys are truly just trash. -What a piece of garbage-

-I know right?- she laughed. He gave her a smile back. It was good to see her smile after something like that. Most people would be devastated but she seemed to be stronger than ever. It was as if she became more confident in herself and tried to show him that happiness is what you made not what you get.

-Its good to see you smile-

-Why wouldn't I smile?-

-After a day like today...-

-Don't you think it would be harder if we just surrend to the sadness and desperation thjs world is causing us?-

-Sometimes, being sad is fine-

-Yeah, but I wasted a lot of time being sad. Now I'd rather be sad, but with a smile on my face-

-That is a pretty sad thing to say-

-I know... Maybe its the alcohol talking- she laughed.

-You just had one beer-

-I told you I was weak-

He smiled.

POV: Lyon

The helicopter arrived to a place with tall iron bars and a lot of military forces with weapons. Once the helicopter landed they all went out. -Jesus... I don't wanna EVER go on a helicopter again...- Natsu complained. Lucy felt bad for him and touched his back.

Lyin made his way towards Erza and grabbed her by her shoulders -We need to find Gray and Juvia. We cannot wait five days...-

-I already told you. As much as I'd like to help you there's nothing I can do about it. I'm sorry-

-But..!-

-Sorry. I promise we'll go at first time in the morning-

-Woah... Look at this place...- Lucy turned around and looked at the huge community. There were some houses and quite a bunch of people walking around. Not as many as expected but at least they were alive.

-Do you have food?- Natsu asked.

-Yup.- Erza replied -But before you guys eat, we'll have to make some studies, just to make sure you're not infected-

-Hello- A petite blue-haired girl appeared in front of them.

-Ah! Dr. Levy! Nice to see you. Here are the new survivors. Please check them up-

-Yes ma'am. Please follow me- she asked them. Lyon, Lucy and Natsu followed her into an old building. -This is the medical bulding. There are not many doctors that had survived so we appreciate any help. Now... lets start with the check up-

POV: Gray and Juvia

-I think we drank enough for today-

-I agree- she smiled

-Tomorrow we should go and meet the others, so we should rest and be prepared for anything- But when he finished saying this, he felt a little weigh on his shoulder. He looked at her and found out that Juvia had fell asleep. He sweetly smiled and touched her cheek. -Guess we can clean tomorrow- He layed on the couch and allowed her to get confortable. -You are too cute-
