"Simon, are you okay?" Bram asked. Simon slowly picked himself up off the ground.
"Yeah," Simon said. He brushed off himself. "But what did you say? Your Blue?"
"Yeah," Bram said. He couldn't believe this was how he told Simon. He had figured out that Jacques and Simon were the same people long before Simon was outed. He wanted to plan a romantic surprise during the trip to tell him. "I'm Blue."
Simon leaned against a tree. "Wow," Simon said. "You've been in front of me the entire time. While I searched the school, you were sitting at my lunch table. Did you figure it out before now? Is that why you went to all three nights of 'Oliver!'"
"Yeah, I figured it out around Halloween," Bram said. "It was just officially confirmed on Christmas Eve. That's the reason I was there every performance. I even dragged Garret with me."
"Wow," Simon said. Bram climbed down the tree.
"Are you disappointed?" Bram asked.
"Not at all," Simon answered truly. "I've kind of had a crush on you. I always thought that your soccer calves were hot. Also, you're so cute and shy. I just figured that you'd never be into me."
"Funny," Bram said. "I thought the same thing about you."
"How?" Simon asked.
"How not?" Bram asked. He cupped Simon's left cheek. "With dazzling grey eyes like that. Your messy hair fits you so perfectly."
Simon's face was as red as a tomato. Cute Bram Greenfeld was talking about how he had a crush on him. A wave of embarrassment hit Simon. "I have one question," Simon said nervously. "You said you shared a name with a former president."
"Bram is short for Abraham," Bram said.
Bram leaned forward, his lips meeting Simon's. Simon was surprised for a moment but quickly returned the gesture. Bram put his fingers under Simon's chin. Billions of thoughts were crossing their minds.
Someone coughed in the distance. They turned around and saw Martin Addison. "Um, hi," he said. "Sorry if I interrupted something, but I saw the smoke signal. We should probably go back to camp."
They ran back to the camp. Abby was waving towards the sky. "Hey, down here," Abby shouted.
"What is going on?" Bram asked.
"I saw a helicopter in the distance," Abby shouted. "I think it's going to pass over the island. This might be our only chance to escape. Hey! We're down here! Please don't pass over the island!"
The rest of the group began to shout as well. The helicopter began to move over the island, and they screamed louder. The helicopter continued to move, though. "No, please," Abby pleaded.
The helicopter continued to move. Soon, it was out of sight of the teens.
