FATE'S GAME
Chapter 5
After tucking the kids in their beds ACP sir and Riya went in their room. ACP sir made Riya sit on the bed and himself sat beside her. Riya hugged ACP sir and started sobbing silently.
ACP: Riya bas chup ho jao…Sab teek ho jaye ga.
Riya (weeping): Mere Daya k sath he aisa kiu hua…Hum ne kisi ka kia bigara tha jo upar wala hamay itni bari saza de raha hai?
ACP: Riya aisa nahi kehtay, dekhna uss ne hamay iss azmaish mai dala hai tou nikalay ga bhi wahi….Dekhna hamara beta teek ho jaye ga.
Riya nodded and both stood up and when turned were shocked to see Abhi standing at the door.
ACP: Abhi beta aap yaha kia kar rahay ho?
Abhi (scared): Dad kia hua hai Daya ko?
ACP (trying to convince): Array nahi beta kuch nahi doctor ne kaha hai na k wo teek hai.
Riya: Haan beta aap ja kar sou jao.
Abhi: Dad please…Mujhe bataein Daya ko kia hua hai?
ACP sighed heavily, and thinking after a while thought its better that he should know. He first made Abhi sit near him.
ACP: Beta aap pehlay yeah batao k kia Daya kheltay huay bohat jaldi thak jata tha?
Abhi: Jee dad, wo bohat jaldi thak jata hai, saans bhi phool jati hai aur kabhi kabhi tou paseena bhi aa jata hai.
ACP: Tou beta aap ne hame pehlay kiu nahi bataya?
Abhi: Mujhe laga wo abhi chota hai iss liay jaldi thak jata hai….Magar batayein na dad kia hua hai meray bear ko?
ACP sir (trying to hide his teary eyes): Beta Daya ko heart ka problem hai.
Abhi got shocked to hear this.
ACP: But aap fikar nae karo, hum log hein na kuch nahi hone dein gay apne pyare se teddy bear ko.
Abhi just hugged his father.
Riya: Abhi beta chalo ab aap apne room mai jao…aur bilkul bhi pareshaan nahi hona…Daya jaldi teek ho jaye ga.
Two days later Daya was admitted to the hospital. Doctor Akash entered inside the room and was met with an annoyed Daya.
Dr. Akash: Array bhai kia hua hamaray Daya ko?
Daya (Angrily): Aap ne tou kaha tha mai teek hu phir mujhe dubara se kiu bulaya hai aap ne?
Dr. Akash: Ohoo Daya tou bohat gussa hai… Dekho beta bass kuch tests karne hein aap k…Phir dekhna aap khelte huay bilkul nahi thako gay.
Daya: Sachhi.
Dr. Akash: Haan bilkul….ACP sahib aap please mere sath bahar aayein.
Outside:
Dr. Akash: ACP sahib yeah Dr. Rehaan hein, Pediatric Cardiologist. Yeahi Daya k sab test karein gay aur further treatment bhi.
Both shaked hands and soon Daya was taken inside a room filled with different machines. Daya had been under the effect of anaesthesia the whole time. Doctor took his chest x-ray to check for changes in lungs due to ASD. Further ECG and Echocardiogram was also taken to check the size of opening of hole and to have a picture of heart valve.
After completing all the tests and concluding up with reports they shifted unconscious Daya in the room and asked ACP sir and Riya to accompany them in Dr. Rehan's cabin.
Cabin:
Both ACP sir and Riya seated infront of the doctor with hope in their eyes, where Dr.Rehan started briefing about the disease
Dr. Rehans: First of all ASD is of 4 types hoti hein. Secundum, Primum, Sinus Venosus and Coronary Sinus. Reports k mutabik Daya ko Secundum hai, the most common type. Hole is in the middle of the wall between the arteria. Yeah problem genetic hoti hai. Aap ki family mai kisi ko heart ka problem raha hai kia?
ACP and Riya looked at each other and both denied.
Dr. Rehan: Anyways yeah problem pregnancy k time se he baby mai start ho jati hai jab heart developing stage par hota hai. Heart chambers are separated by walls called septa. It is normal for the walls of the heart to have openings as the fetus grows. These openings usually close shortly before or just after birth. If they don't close, the atrial septum will have a hole in it. Bohat rare cases mai pregnancy k duran he ASD detect ho jata hai aur doctors uss time abortion ka option bhi dete hein.
Iss ki ratio larkon mai ziyada hota hai as compared to girls.
ACP: Doctor sahib Daya teek tou ho jaye ga na?
Dr. Rehan: G ACP sahib, Daya ki condition ko dekhtay huay I'll suggest Septal Occlude Treatment. Yeah aik device hai jo Cardiac Catheterization (a long thin tube which is inserted in neck artery and threaded through blood vessels to heart ) k through heart mai fit ki jati hai tak k blood hole k ander na jaye.
Riya's heart had been pinching throughout the whole conversation.
Riya(teary): Nahi ACP sahib. Daya ko bohat dard ho ga.
Dr. Rehan: Dekheiay ma'am thora dard tou Daya ko bardasht karna he paray ga. Aur please meri aap se request hai, aap dono ko Daya k aagay strong rehna ho ga.
ACP sir: Daya ka treatment kab se start karein gay?
Dr. Rehan: Next week Daya hospitalize karein gay aur uss k baad he treatment start karein gay. Tab tak dehaan rahay k Daya apni body ko kisi bhi tarha stress na karay.
Both listened to the instructions carefully and then took their leave.
