Disclaimer: I do not own G-Gundam
This chapter was collaborated on with CuddlyChristina. I spent most of the day posting new stories on my profile might as well get back and update an old one. Hope you guys like it. Cheers!
A smile flitted across the blind pilot's space when he navigated in a way that awhirl Domon's senses.
The thrusters were not as fast as Domon's were those times he had to fly through space, but it looked like at any moment he was going to crash in some flying debris. He ended up sensing the urgency to avoid contact with them as soon as possible.
He evaded all that debris with flying that would impress younger Domon-now he could talk; ASMR was one of the highlights of being blind but also distracting when dodging debris.
"I know you have a lot of questions of my eccentric mechanic," Caro said, swerving his Gundam with his arms. "She really doesn't mean to be a nuisance on anyone...she just uses that to cope with a problem she's had since birth: arrhythmia."
"Arrhythmia?" Domon asked, out of surprise and shock.
"Yeah. Although she is very smart this stint occurs when electric signals that travel through the heart are...were...blocked."
Domon had to think about what to say; sometimes not saying anything was more conscientious than actually saying something. No answer-other than how they reached Neo Japan.
After the arduous task of finding the right area or building to put his Gundam in was complete, Cairo and Domon walked on the sidewalk, Cairo using a walking stick and Domon reminiscing about this strange town that used to be his home.
"This brings back a lot of memories..." Domon told him.
He passed an arcade; Allenby Beardsley and him met in one of those. He passed a boxing stadium; Chibodee Crocket and him met there. And there was a restaurant-first day he met Sai Saici he worked in one of those cleaning dishes while he cooked. His friends-he hoped they were alright.
"Maybe I should go reunite with my old friends." he said.
"Are you sure? What if this place is hostile?" Cairo asked.
Domon took a few steps forward, then turned around and smiled with his thumb up.
"I walked these streets and fought any deplorable sack that came at me before I won the Gundam Tournament and I'll deal with anyone who tries to mug me the same way."
Domon was more worried about Cairo with him being blind and all.
"Of course, what I am actually concerned is you walking. I'm scared you might trip and fall; maybe I can help you." he added.
"Your a good man, Domon, but I've only fallen down once in my life...the day I became blind. I'll be fine."
Domon was initially concerned, but he cheered up as he smiled. "Okay...just be careful, okay?"
Cairo was eternally grateful to his Lord he got to meet the greatest Gundam Fighter of his generation, but he should know the pretext of never questioning a blind person's senses.
From Cairo's perspective everything was just black with a few hazy grey shades or occasional dark shape hidden in a black void, but what was around him was traffic and kids playing.
Suddenly, he heard a loud scream reverberating from an alley to his right eardrum. Without a moment hesitation, he dashed in the direction of the noise and veered so fast his chin nearly scrapped against the edge, but he plowed right into his target...someone young a slim but with muscles. And then-he was being smacked in the back by either nails or someone's keys.
"Get off of me!" A woman exclaimed in frustration. Cairo heard her stand on her two feet again, but he also heard groaning behind her. "What are you, a hero? This jerk just didn't know who he was dealing with, but at least he wasn't as handsy as you."
Domon noticed, looking over at what had happened with Cairo.
He saw a brown skin girl with black hair with some golden locks wearing a black jacket over a light green shirt growling at Cairo. But when she saw the black haired Japanese man with the red headband...she squealed in joy.
"Y-Your...Domon!"
"Huh? You remember me a long time ago?" he asked, as he slowly began to recognize the woman.
"Wait, weren't you one of the fighters who entered the Gundam tournament but didn't make it to the finals?" He asked.
She nodded her head.
"Yeah. In retrospect a Gundam that had better shoulder pads would've been more decisive."
"Lisette Garner..." Cairo replied, to which she exclaimed, "And you still remember my name, too!"
She stroked her chin, examined him at a close distance, her mouth agape while thinking to herself...she shook her head.
"Sorry, I don't remember you."
"Huh, why not?" Cairo suddenly frowned as he asked that question.
"Because you look Canadian and as far as I know there was only one Canadian Gundam Fighter in the whole tournament, that lumberjack Gundam. But hey, maybe I'll remember you now if we have a Gundam fight?"
Domon patted both Lisette and Cairo on their shoulders.
"Competition is good and all-I was very competitive when I was younger too-but we came to explore Neo Japan, so before we try a Gundam fight...away from anything that could have people in it...let's eat first."
"Oh...Sounds good to us!" Cairo replied, nodding his approval, as did Lisette.
Since Lisette was in Neo Japan the longest of the trio, she got to decide which restaurant the two males and her would eat in. She chose a restaurant where only three men worked, a cat slumbered, and the head chef liked to swirl his fingers in soup broth.
"Table for three, please." She said with her three fingers sticking out holding a coin on them.
"Oh, sure. Here you are." the maitre'd replied, taking the coin from her before leading them to their table of choice.
There was one with a window. Maybe Domon wanted to peer out and see people passing by in Neo Japan not knowing the champion that made the city so powerful was leering at them.
"Doesn't have a bad view of the city, I'll admit." Cairo told them as they took their seats.
Domon wondered what good a view was to a blind man, but he was also a little embarrassed of how Lisette was rubbing her knuckles against his elbow to his palm.
"You definitely still have good muscle tone."
"Uh...thanks." he replied, a small blush forming on his face.
"So Lisette..." Cairo started talking, but Lisette was being too flirty like a cat with Domon. He couldn't see them but he could almost hear her purr like a cat. "Were you trained to be a Gundam fighter or is fighting in your family?"
She had to clear her throat before answering that, bristling a little trying to hide her resentment of that question.
"Born into it. Where I was born...we didn't see many Gundams, and before I was born...let's say Gundam's weren't welcomed."
"Really? But...when was the first time you ever seen a Gundam?" Cairo asked.
When I was nine or ten...who remembers things when they were nine or ten at that exact age? I just remember it being that day because I marked what year it was in the calendar. All that aside, it was beautiful, it was pure luster, and it had the power to take down all machines we could throw at it, and I hated it so I decided to become a pilot just to teach those whelp's of pilots how a girl can fly."
Cairo and Domon couldn't help but smile at her words, as Domon replied, "And here you are...a pilot like me!"
For a second she was smiling, beaming in the room to the men who found her attractive, but she was woken up when she finally finished eating and had to go outside to fight Cairo.
Trying to hit her with his mechanized fist was very hard and not because he was blind. Her strategy was to move far away from him so he would come to her and then she would counter with an unforeseen jab or roundhouse when he came after her.
As she executed said strategy, he charged right for her.
"Moseying up for another beating? Even the worst Gundam Fighters wouldn't keep making those mistakes."
Instead, Lisette's Gundam was quick to strike back, to his dismay.
Even his quick reflexes couldn't help him dodge the jab to his Gundam's neck.
"What...!?" he asked under his breath.
Next thing he knew she had her metallic foot pressed on top of his own right one, and delivered a crushing blow to the area. Although he flinched when she nearly crushed his gut, he could still deliver a roundhouse with his fast reflexes.
Lisette's Gundam was soon given the same amount of damage as her opponent's. Caro thought about delivering another punch, but stopped before following it through.
"Let's stop for today."
Lisette found herself surprised, but stopped her Gundam, too. "Man, what a workout!" she exclaimed.
"Yes. How are you so good at grappling?"
"First time it was because I was weak and small, learned from my father, now it just seems so successful in my battles. It's actually easy to counter but you know boys...they just like it when we toss them."
He ended up chuckling at her words, before he replied, "Good to know you're still a tough cookie then and now."
Caro invited her to a parlor for some dessert after a tough beat down but she declined with the excuse she had to go somewhere.
"I got plans today, so maybe next time?" she asked.
"Plans? What do you mean?" Caro replied with a look of surprise.
"Means someone is beseeching help from me for my skills outside Gundam fights."
