Dooku's presence was a problem, but not an insurmountable one. But there was also something that Hasely wasn't telling them and General Koon warned the Commanders. Knox thought it was just the Dathomirian Zabrak, but Trauma and Wolffe knew that there was a lot more that could endanger them.
The plan was made and they got ready to free Hasley from Dooku's clutches. A break came when they found Dooku had gone to a meeting with other leaders of the Separatists leaving the base with Hasley in it open for extraction. However plans and what happens do not always coincide.
It started well, with the extraction team getting close to base in the passing meteor shower without getting noticed. Then the distraction caused by Wolffe's men to make entering the base started and Trauma went with a few of his men following General Koon. Commander Knox had been left at the ship for back up which Trauma was grateful for, as this was the kids first time away from the temple.
Halfway to General Halselys cell their luck ran out….the alarms started and the orange Zabrak stood in the middle of the hallway. "Koon," was all the giant said. Then the troops were surrounded by droids leaving the General alone facing the Zabrak.
Trauma and his troops were able to defeat the droids, but they couldn't find the General as his battle with the Zabrak had already left the area. So the troopers went to free General Halsley in the hopes he would be able to help General Koon. But when they found him he was unconscious. Pulling their Generals arms over their shoulders the men stared back to the ravenous point, trying to find where their other General went.
Then a battalion of droids started coming and they ducked behind a door that led to another locked door. On the other side they heard a child scream, and blasted through to find a small grey girl in brown rags throwing data pads at a pair of droids with syringes. One told the other, "She must be terminated."
Quickly Trama gunned down the two droids and the girl looked at him with large scared eyes, ready to throw another 'pad. Slowly he set down his gun and raised his hands, "It's alright litte'un." Taking off his helmet, "My name is Trauma."
The child had tears running down her face, "They said we were going to Uncle. Where is Uncle?"
"I don't know kid," he said truthfully. Sideswipe muttered something about time and she looked at him quickly before Trauma spoke again regaining her attention, "But we can take you to someplace safe. When we're there we can look for your Uncle okay?"
Slowly lowering the data 'pad she nodded. So Trauma put his bucket back on and picked up his gun before extending a hand to her. Taking two of his fingers she pointed, "Shuttles are that way."
Giving a few quick gestures for the two men not supporting the General to take point and aft he started walking with the child. She looked around, "Why is the Roonian not moving?"
He looked down quickly, "How do you know he's Roonian?"
Blinking up at him with large eyes, "He told me." Then whispering, "Master doesn't know I leave my area."
Something about this kid made him smile and he whispered back, "I won't tell him." Seeing Sideswipe's sign, "We have to be very quiet, okay?" She smiled and nodded, slipping behind him and holding onto his kama. Leaving his carbine over his shoulder he pulled out his DC's to make sure not to hurt the kid accidently.
Droids came around the corner and Sideswipe got rid of them in a few moments leaving the team to go on. The strange extra weight from the girl's grip kept pulling at his waist, and causing them to move slower than usual. After the third time they were nearly caught Trama holstered his left DC and bent over slightly extending his arm. Immediately the girl jumped up wrapping her arms around his shoulders and clamping her legs securely around his waist. He wasn't exactly expecting that, but it would work to make them move faster.
Hurrying to the shuttle they found the General fighting the Zabrak, and the child stiffened. What he did not expect was the cry of, "Uncle!"
Throwing Koon back the Zabarak turned, "Little bird!" He went towards them, "Are you alright?"
She nodded, "This is Trauma. He's my friend, and stopped the droids when they tried to kill me."
All of a sudden the child stiffened and thrashed nearly falling. Trauma dropped his DC trying to hold on to the struggling girl. The Zabrak cried, "No!"
"Yes my apprentice," Dooku's voice purred. The tourture on the man's face when the child fell limp was painful, "Now take the Jedi and she will recover. Don't," another moment of thrashing before the girl went limp again, "you won't like what happens."
Lighting his weapon the Zabrak met Truama's eyes, "Give me the Jedi."
General Koon spoke, "Or you could take the device he uses to hurt her." The Kel Dor stood up from where he was thrown, "We will help you."
"Remember Opress," Dooku spoke with slightly gritted teeth, "I am the one Mother Talzan gave you to. You are mine to command."
Before the Zabrak, Oppress could decide there was an explosion throwing both him and Dooku back and bringing down rubble on them. Commander Wolffe's voice came, "You need to get on to the shuttle now. More of them are coming."
Holding the child against him Trauma was first on the shuttle to get the medpack and try to help her. The two men supporting General Halsley were next, and General Koon was last looking to where Opress had disappeared behind the rubble. But he went to the child as soon as he was on board, "I might not be a healer," told Trauma through his mask, "but I will be able to see what is wrong."
So Trauma let him next to her. However he did not leave the child's side until she was in the medbay on the ship. And that was only on orders from General Koon to get some rest after staying next to her for thirty six hours straight (because he was worried sick) in order to be on site if anything happened.
