I think people are underestimating the MHA characters too much, thinking they will fare incredibly poorly against the Titans. You should give the former more credit! It's not like the Titans living on Skull Island are all-powerful planet-level threats that can only be, like, defeated by the likes of the most powerful Dragon Ball characters, like one guest reviewer seems to be suggesting and whose review I deleted because of how much he is underestimating MHA characters, so much that I found it outrageous. Skullcrawlers aren't that powerful. Military grade firearms can take them out if used correctly.

This chapter will show you how it can be done.

Chapter 5
Encounter with a Devil

Marlow showed the group a boat that he had been working on all these years, made out of jet parts from his and Ikari's jets.

"Been working on this for years now, but trying to get this thing started is harder than I thought it would be..." said Marlow, patting one of the engines.

Opening another one of the engines and taking a look inside, Conrad said, "I'm sure we can get it up and running."

Reg and Tenya also agreed to lend a hand in getting the boat to work. "You know about these stuff?" Marlow asked the latter.

Tenya nodded. "While not as good as my older brother, I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to machinery. My Quirk gives me engines on my legs that allow me to run fast, so I figured that if I study more about vehicles engines, I will be able to have a better understanding of my Quirk and make better use of it!"

Marlow smiled as he looked at Aizawa, who was also standing on the boat. "You have smart and hard-working students!"

"They are skilled all right, but can also get quite troublesome..." replied Aizawa. "Still, I can already see that they have what it takes to become heroes."

No sooner after this, the group got to work on the boat. As they were doing so, Marlow chatted with them to learn more about what had been happening to the world out there.

"Didn't realize that All Might had become so famous!" said Marlow while fixing an engine. "Back then, I remember hearing about him often, about how he was an awesome guy loved by everybody."

"Yeah, and things only got better for him," replied Conrad, also doing work on an engine. "But then he retired..."

"He retired?" said Marlow curiously in surprise. "I guess old age got caught up to him, huh?"

"To be precise, he was badly wounded fighting a powerful villain and was therefore in no shape to keep on being a hero," Tenya told him as he inspected various parts of the boat.

"Must be a very tough fight to put him out of business..." commented Marlow. "So who's considered the greatest hero of all time nowadays?"

"The fire hero Endeavor," replied Aizawa, who was also doing whatever he could to get the boat running. "Not exactly a role model type, but when it comes to power, he's the only one who can replace All Might at the moment."

"Never heard of him, but I'm sure he's happy being number one in the world now, so good for him, I guess?" said Marlow.

"I dunno... He seems to prefer becoming number one in a better way. And I don't think he's all that popular with people because of temper issues..." Reg told him.

"He is working on it, so I am sure he will become a much better person!" said Tenya. "I can be sure of this because he is the father of one of our classmates!"

"Father of one of your classmates? Small world, huh?" remarked Marlow. "I'm just reminded... On the day I ended up here, I received word that my wife had finally given birth, and I was going to go see my newborn son when I was done with duty. I'm sure they both think I'm dead now..."

Hearing this, the others were happy for him but also felt sad. He had a son out that he never met, and the latter didn't even know he was still alive. What father wouldn't want to be united with his child and tell him that he was still alive all this time?

"We're going to get you off this island," Conrad told him with confidence. "You can count on us!"

Chapman and the students accompanying him were walking through a forest. Feeling tired, he decided to sit down on a rock, and the students decided to take a look around the place and be on guard for possible dangers.

Rikido was also feeling tired, and after walking a bit of distance from where Chapman is, he sat down on a large log to take a break.

Suddenly, the log moved, surprising him and causing him to fall off. He looked at the log and was shocked to see it sprouting an insectoid head and legs. "A giant bug...?!" he said in shock.

He backed away as the large insect resembling a walking stick approached him. In no time, his other classmates rushed forward to gather around him. "What is this thing?!" asked Denki.

"Looks like a stick insect!" pointed out Mezo.

"How revolting! To think that giant-sized bugs would exist!" said Yuga, sounding disgusted.

"Koji wouldn't like this..." said Tsuyu.

The large bug made a screeching-like sound as it approached them, seemingly with malicious intentions. In response, Yuga fired a beam out of his navel, striking the bug just beneath the head.

There was an explosion of light when the bug was hit, and then it let out a painful-sounding screech before turning and running away. The students watched as the bug went farther and farther, and Rikido taunted it loudly, "How'd you like that? Think before you mess with us next time!"

"That... was easy..." commented Denki, sounding disappointed.

"Perhaps my Quirk is a lot more powerful than I thought it is!" said Yuga, sounding proud as he struck a pose.

"We should just be glad that things didn't spiral out of control," said Tsuyu. "Anyway, let's get back to that soldier. Looks like this forest isn't as safe as it seems..."

The students nodded and then returned to Chapman, but instead of seeing him sitting on the same rock, they saw a large reptilian creature with only two limbs and a skull-like head instead. Both sides stared at each other in silence for several seconds, and the students had bewildered looks on their faces.

The creature suddenly opened its mouth to let out a loud shriek-like cry, causing the students to scream in terror. The creature lashed out its tongue, which extended to great lengths, at the student, but they got out of the way fast

"What the heck is that?!" asked Denki.

"It looks like some kind of deformed frog with a skinned head!" said Rikido.

"That looks nothing like a frog!" Tsuyu angrily said to him, sounding offended.

The creature crawled towards them at a relatively fast speed on its two legs while constantly snapping its mouth. Yuga fired a beam out of his navel at the creature, striking it in the head. He succeeded in pushing back the creature a bit, but it became more enraged before approaching him again.

After gulping down two spoonfuls of sugar, Rikido lunged at the creature and punched it hard in the side of the head, knocking it over. The creature stood back up and shook its head before glaring at Rikido, who was in a fighting stance and telling it to "bring it on." In response, the creature charged at him with its mouth wide open. Rikido caught its mouth when it attempted to close it over him and held it open with his strength.

While he was doing this, Tsuyu struck the creature in the eye with a dive kick, making it fall over to the side while crying in pain. Sprouting several arms, Mezo ran towards the creature and punched it in the side of the body fast and hard, not giving it the chance to get up. Rikido also contributed by punching it hard in another part of the body, while Yuga fired some more beams at the creature at another part.

The creature cried in pain and anger as it struggled to get up and eventually succeeded in backing away from the students. The creature and students stared down at each other, and then it cried out loud before approaching them again.

Yuga fired another beam into the face of the creature before backing away with a somewhat painful look on his face, saying that he reached his limit. Rikido and Mezo ran up to the creature and struck it hard with their fists, so much that they actually succeeded in sending it airborne, even if only a few inches.

The creature got back up again and then lashed out its tongue, grabbing Denki and began pulling him in. The others were shocked and were about to take action to save him when he released electricity all over his body, zapping the creature. The electricity was so bright that even in broad daylight, they had to close their eyes to avoid getting blinded.

After several seconds, Denki stopped emitting electricity, and the creature let go of him and pulled back its tongue. It then scurried away as fast as it could, having enough of things for now.

"We managed to send it fleeing!" said Tsuyu happily.

Mezo approached Denki to ask if he was all right, only to see that he had entered his usual "dumb" state from overusing his Quirk. "If I were you, I'd release a huge voltage in shock from that sort of situation as well..." said Mezo.

Rikido looked around and said, "Anyone saw that soldier guy?"

"Right, almost forgot about him..." said Tsuyu. The students looked around for Chapman, but didn't see him at all.

Yuga then called out to them, saying that he saw something. They approached him to see what it was, and he pointed at splatters of blood that were found on the ground and also on the sides of some trees.

"Blood...?" said Tsuyu, sounding nervous.

"If that soldier isn't around at all, and that monster was here previously, does that mean...?" said Rikido, getting more and more nervous by the second.

Paying a closer attention to the ground, Mezo noticed something and so went to inspect it. It was a metal name tag, with Jack Chapman written on it.

Around afternoon of the next day, the boat was finally up and running. Needless to say, the group was glad that they managed to get it to work, and this means they can finally leave the place.

The students and the adults all boarded the boat to get ready to leave. Noticing that Marlow was holding a sword, Izuku asked him about it. Holding up the sword, Marlow explained, "This belonged to my friend, the one I told you about yesterday. We were close and looked out for each other, and we said we were going to work together to leave the island. He had a Quirk that allowed him to amplify the power of bladed weapons greatly in order to cause great damage. He held up against the Skullcrawlers well, killing several of them by himself, but in the end, he was ambushed by one...

Izuku felt bad when he heard this. He might not have known this friend at all, but it seems that this person was someone respectable and strong, if his Quirk was anything to go by. He feared the same would happen to them. Just because you have a strong Quirk doesn't mean you are invincible. In the long run, your enemies may eventually wear you out with numbers and win using the element of surprise.

As they were going to leave on the boat, Marlow turned to look at Iwi natives, who were standing next to the river, seeing him off. Marlow thanked them for their hospitality all these years and wished them luck after he was gone. The natives said nothing but simply smiled and bowed down their heads, and some even waved.

"You're going to miss them, aren't you?" Weaver asked Marlow.

"Yeah, I'll admit that. It was fun while it lasted..." said Marlow, trying to hold back his tears, and then he turned around while adjusting his hat. "All right, let's go home!"

The boat set sail down the river, and a gate at the wall on the end of the river was opened by some natives, allowing the group to leave.

The boat traveled safely down the river, and Reg was trying to get a radio on board to work so that they could get in contact with the other soldiers on the island.

Looking at the jungle on the side, Fumikage said, "Just watching from this place, I can tell that there are dark dangers over. The dangers that this island possess... It is fitting of the name Skull Island!"

"Yeah, and there will be lots of literal skulls littered around the place once I'm done with all of wild animals!" boasted Katsuki.

"I'mworried about the rest of the classmates," said Masahirao. "We haven't been in contact with them since getting separated yesterday... I hope all of them are all right..."

"The school is never going to let me hear the end of this if something happens to any one of you, and don't get me started on the parents..." grumbled Aizawa. "I should've turned down this internship..."

"None of us was expecting this sort of thing to happen, so at least the school will understand," Tenya said to him. "And our classmates are strong, so I am confident that they will be able to defend themselves and anyone else with them!"

Just then, voices came from the radio, much to Reg's happiness. Packard's voice then came out from the other end. "Lieutenant Colonel Packard! This is Warrant Officer Reg Slivko!" said Reg.

"Officer Slivko?! Where are you? Are you all right?" asked Packard.

"We're on a boat! Weaver, Conrad, and Nieves are with us. Some students and their teacher are with us as well!" replied Reg.

"A boat?" said a confused Packard.

"We got it from a soldier who has been stuck on this island for 29 years, and he's currently with us!" explained Reg. This surprised Packard.

The two continued to communicate each other and learn about their locations, and then Packard told them to rendezvous with them in a particular location. After that, the call ended. The students and Aizawa were also glad to learn that some of their classmates were with them. They were all glad to be able to get in touch with some of the others and only hoped that they could reunite as soon as possible without any...

All of a sudden, several "ugly ass birds" swooped down from nowhere and attacked Nieves, carrying him into the air by the limbs. The others turned to him in shock as he screamed for help.

Izuku was going to use his Quirk to leap at Nieves to rescue him, but immediately stopped when he saw the birds tear off the man's limbs. The others watched with looks of horror as the birds continue to carry him into the sky while tearing him to pieces.

"He's gone..." said Conrad in disbelief.

"YOU BASTARDS! GET BACK HERE SO I CAN BLOW YOU ALL TO PIECES! YOU DARE KILL SOMEONE IN FRONT OF A HERO LIKE ME!" Katsuki screamed in rage at the birds as they flew away, most of them with severed body pieces in their beaks.

"I didn't rescue him in time..." Izuku said with a traumatized look on his face. "A hero like me was supposed to help a person in danger, but someone just died... right in front of my eyes...!"

Noticing the look on Izuku's face, Aizawa said to him, "Don't blame yourself; this happened completely out of nowhere. Saving lives was never an easy thing, and we can't save everyone too..."

TO BE CONTINUED

Things went quite well for the students who fought the Skullcrawler, proving that they have what it takes to protect themselves and that Skullcrawlers are not godly beings incapable of being defeated by humans.
