Chapter 5: The Train Ride
He guys I am back. I know it has been forever since I have last posted a chapter, but RL has gotten so busy. My work and kids keep me busy that sometimes it is super hard to find time to write. As I was writing this chapter I had my 3 youngest children (twin 3 year old boys and my 1 year old daughter) running back and forth in my office and distracting me. Please note that my posting might still be pretty sporadic, but not as much as it has been.
This chapter also took me forever to write because I kept getting serious writer's block and/or kept changing how I wanted the chapter to go. Anyways enough rambling from me. Without any further ado, here is the next chapter.
OH YEAH...I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER. If I did a lot of things would have been different. (certain couples would or would not have been together and certain characters would not have died.
"So you are who I thought you were." At this Harry gave her a strange look. "Oh I am sorry, you are famous here, the story of how you got your scar is talked about often. If you do not know the story then perhaps you should ask one of the professors or the Headmaster when we get to the school. They should be able to fill you in." Hermione stated.
Harry pondered what she just said. He always knew there was more to the story than what he was told as he was growing up about his scar, but he never wanted to ask his Aunt or Uncle. Seeing as he no longer has to worry about them he vowed to eventually ask more about his scar.
The rest of the ride was interesting to say the least. The trolly lady came by and Harry bought everyone snacks even though he didn't have to do that. Harry and Draco took turns trying the different Bertie Botts Beans. The girls just laughed at the faces the boys made especially when one got a vomit flavored on, or when one got ear wax. Other than the 4 spent most of their time talking about all things Hogwarts. Well it was more like Draco, Hermione and Delephina talked while Harry just listened to the 3 talk about what house they wanted to be in or what they thought classes would be like. Every now and then Harry could be caught staring at Delphina like she was a book that he couldn't wait to read. Harry was a people watcher and tended to watch how people interacted with each other. What he found most interesting was Draco and Hermonie. He could already see that they seemed super close with each other even though from what he had figured out, they had only met recently (A.N. Draco, Hermione and Delphina don't know at this point that they actual met as babies/young toddlers but will find out towards the end of this book), and it seemed like they might both like each other as more than friends, even if they didn't know/ were not ready to admit it yet. The only other thing that was of interest that happened on the train was when Ron came by their compartment.
"Excuse me. Have any of you seen a toad? Some bloke named Neville has lost one" Ron asked as he opened the compartment door. "Oh, hey you're the kid that walked through to the platform before me. We did get the chance to properly meet. I'm Ron. Ron Weasley"
The other three occupants of the compartment whipped their heads so fast it almost made them dizzy upon hearing Ron's name. "Weasley is that really you?" Draco was the first to ask. The Weasleys are also blood traitors like the Malfoys and Grangers, but the kids haven't been around each other in years.
"It's been a long time Ron" Hermione spoke up in a sad voice. "You stopped talking with me the minute you found out you could do magic. Why was that?" She questioned.
"Hermione? Wow you have grown. Still as pretty as ever." Ron tried to say.
"Ron, don't beat around the bush and just answer her question please. Draco and I are also curious as to why you apparently not only stopped talking to Hermione, but to us as well." Delphina stated.
"To tell you the truth guys, when I found out I could do magic and you guys hadn't yet, I felt weird being around you guys. I know I shouldn't have been like that and I get heck from not only my parents, but my brothers as well for acting that way towards you. I should have never stopped talking with yall, but I was a dumb 8 year old kid and by the time I finally got up the nerve to talk with yall again, my letters kept getting sent back to me. I thought yall were sending them back as a way of saying you no longer wished to be friends with me so I quit trying. I am sorry guys,"
"Oh, Ron." Hermione started to say before Delphina cut in, "That would explain why we thought when we saw your owl that letters were only being sent to our parents. They would always intercept your owl and say that there was no letter for us only for them from your dad. I think it was their way of saying they were still upset with you for the way you acted." Why didn't you just come over and say sorry?" Draco asked.
"I didn't think you guys would want to see me. I thought a letter would be the best first step and then I could come over after that. I didn't want to show up to be turned away." Ron replied
Harry was as observant as ever and could see just how genuine Ron was being (or at least claimed to be) so he spoke up next. " Well it sounds like you are being genuine and even though I don't really know Ron or the situation, you 3 he said to Draco, Delphina and Hermonie, if you have really missed your friend as much as it sounds like you have, I would forgive him. However Ron if I was you I would never let anything like that happen again.
All 4 of the others just stared at Harry with mouths agape. That was really sound advice coming from someone on the outside of the situation. The others all agreed that they would forgive him and soon enough the train was pulling into Hogsmeade. So the 5 occupants quickly changed into their robes and made their way towards the towering man Hagrid that would take them by boat to Hogwarts.
All of the first year students were in awe and absolutely stunted silent as they rode on the boats over to the school. As they were departing the boats and walking to the school Harry realized that he never answered Ron when he had asked him for his name.
"Oh by the way Ron, my name is Harry. Harry Potter"
Like I said this one had me going. I think this chapter is by far the longest one yet. Next chapter the sorting and the feast. I was going to do the sorting in this chapter but I felt it would have been to rushed. As always review and subscribe so you don't miss an update.
