CHAPTER 5 - The gym.
BPOV
I woke up at 6 am, and could hear the birds practically singing Hallelujah outside my window. I was being dramatic, that was a given.
I went to freshen up and get dressed. I put on some sweatpants and a baggy T-shirt, and threw my hair into a high ponytail. I looked at myself in the mirror and noted, to no one in particular, that I was looking different, in a good way.
I sent a quick text to Rose and packed an additional pair of clothes, my water bottle, my car and house keys, and some deodorant. I was now "officially" ready and excited.
I drove my car to the gym, it was about a 15 minutes drive. Rose had recommended this place and got me an instructor through the colleague that had recommended this place to her.
This gym was ideal to me as it was relatively close-by and was open from 5 am to 12 am. That was pretty cool. The only reason I was nervous, was because I knew that this gym was open to all. I do not know how comfortable I would feel amongst other people.
But I calmed my nerves, by listening to some classical music on the radio.
I reached the gym, and parked my car in the parking lot. The building of the gym was huge and a little daunting.
Rose told me she would join me, but I refused because, firstly I wanted to do this on my own, and secondly I knew Rose, and she hated mornings. I couldn't do that to her... but also, self-preservation, better safe than sorry. Because man if she was bitchy before, mornings multiplied her bitchiness by a hundred. God forbid I tell that to her face. I'm almost certain I would be found dead.
I walked into the building and took the elevator to the second floor, since it was the floor the gym was actually at. The floor had a great view and was huge. It felt pleasant and looked like a typical reception/waiting area, and it smelled strongly of... lemons..?? Weird. Never mind I saw the many, and I mean many, lemon scented candles distributed across the whole area.
I walked up to the reception and cleared my throat. The poor receptionist had dozed off. It was pretty early.
"Man, I'm so sorry. My name is Caius. What can I do for you today?" He asked in a sleepy voice. I held back my giggles.
"Hi Caius. My name is Isabella Swan, I had an appointment with Mr. Emmett McCarty." He searched through his book "Reference of Ms. Rosalie Hale" I added quickly.
"Ahh yes Ms. Swan, please follow me."
I followed him down the hall, where there was another elevator to a floor up. I guess the gym had two levels. As soon as the doors opened, I was greeted by a huge muscular man, with really cute dimples.
"Hi Isabella, my name is Emmett. I will be your personal trainer. If you ever feel uncomfortable, both in your workouts or with me, please let me know."
I immediately liked this guy. He was sweet, and had a calming energy around him. He also managed to make me feel at ease, within a matter of seconds.
Seeing his bulky muscles and his dimples, I knew that a certain blonde haired friend of mine, would be ready to pounce.
I was brought out of my musings by a throat clearing.
"I'm so sorry Emmett. I was just lost in my own world. Also please call me Bella, and thank you for doing this by the way."
He smiled, thanked Caius and asked me to follow him into his office, just a few steps from the elevator.
He sat down on his chair, and motioned for me to sit, from across his desk. "So what are your goals Bella?"
"I am overweight and as of yesterday I weighed 180 pounds". That is a fact. "But I wish to slim down, become healthy and probably in the future - tone my body."
"That is all completely possible. And just to let you know, I used to weigh slightly more than that over 3 years ago. My point is anything is possible and you should be proud of yourself for taking an initiative."
I smiled at him appreciatively. He stood up and told me that he needed to conduct some tests. I had to be weighed again (still 180) and my height was taken amongst a bunch of other things. 5'5" - was a pretty good height, according to Emmett, as it meant I was overweight and not obese, though I was bordering on obesity. He said that being obese takes a longer amount of time to lose weight, and leads to much more severe and chronic conditions. I was glad that I chose to intervene on my health, at this moment of my life.
Emmett told me to have a seat once again and began creating my personalized workout routine.
After a couple of minutes, he finally spoke, "So Bella, your ideal weight for your body type and height would be approximately 121 pounds. It means you have to reduce 59 pounds to reach your desired body goals. So let's get to it then. The first week will be easy, nothing too harsh but you need to be prepared for the weeks to follow."
That intimidated me slightly. He laughed at my expression.
"Hey, it's nothing to worry about. The hardest part is over. All it takes is a little time and dedication."
Before I could think, I said with an extra hint of sarcasm, "Well Emmett, if I ever fail you, you can easily become a motivational speaker." It was quiet. "Shit.. sorry I didn't mean that."
And with that he laughed a really loud, almost booming type of laugh. I couldn't help but laugh along. He started walking, once we calmed down.
"Follow me Bella, we will just do a bit of treadmill and some beginner weights, for today. I believe if all goes according to plan, you can start some yoga soon, to help you tone yourself." That was some great news.
As we reached the actual gym equipment area, I noticed a few people already working out. But my eyes landed on the most handsome looking person I've ever seen, who was currently doing some weights, wearing shorts and an almost too tight T-shirt.
He looked up, and our eyes locked for a brief moment, I blushed, before I looked away. His eyes were such a beautiful emerald green. I do not think I have seen a color like that. And his hair looked so soft and was a different type of brown color with some red hues to them. I felt like running my fingers through them.
I could feel my blush deepening, with these thoughts. I couldn't help or stop myself.
Emmett waved at Mr. perfection incarnate, before leading me away. I once again, briefly glanced at him and he was still looking at me, with a weird expression. As I walked away, I could still feel his eyes on me.
Emmett set the treadmill for me at what he said was a low speed, though it felt pretty fast, for a timer of 35 minutes. The treadmill faced the huge windows, and the view looked amazing.
However I was easily distracted with something else. My thoughts were revolving around a certain someone, behind me. I almost turned to look at him, but I stopped myself.
No, he would never see me as anything. A person as good looking as him, would already be taken, be a jerk or maybe even be both.
I could feel him staring, or I was just losing my mind at this point. If he was looking, he must just think I'm a loser, who is pathetic and has no control over her life. He already had a strange expression on his face before, that I couldn't quite decipher.
Finally, around my 30 minute mark, I willed myself to think of something else, or at least focus on the beautiful view. I would not get myself into this again. I am better than that. I don't care about his nice toned muscles, or that he appears lean and muscular, but looks so strong (just my type), or that his jaw was so angular and...
SNAP OUT OF IT, you cannot afford another relationship until you have achieved your goals Bella, I chastised myself.
I finished on the treadmill and Emmett came to lead me to the smaller looking weights, on the other side of the gym.
Before I knew what I was doing, I quickly glanced to my right, and our eyes locked again.
All I could think was - I'm fucked.
What do you think of Bella's day at the gym. Did I do the green-eyed man justice?
Hope you enjoyed!!
