Chapter Five
I'm Back! Check out my Next Avengers One Shots story! I'll be taking prompts for it if you're interested. We got 3 follows for this story! Not much, but it means a lot! Thank you for taking your time to read this story! The title has nothing to do with the terms "gay" or anything LGBTQ related. Just giving up guys a thumbs up! And I should have mentioned this earlier to get a better idea off Kyle's claws. Think of the rip-off Deadpool's claws in Xmen Origins Wolverine. That should be the best description I can give. Teasers are t the end of this chapter.
Chapter Five: Bobby Comes Out
Yawning, Kitty opened her eyes and quickly sat straight up, realizing she had shifted her head onto Kyle's shoulder. Luckily, Kyle was still asleep. It was early in the morning. Slowly, everyone, except Logan who was driving, woke up. Kyle opened his eyes and looked out the window.
"Welcome to Boston." Bobby mumbled drowsily.
"I can't feel my legs." Johnny grumbled. "And my neck hurts. Bobby sat up and started directing Logan where to turn since he knew his way in Boston. Finally they reached Bobby's house. Bobby got out and knocked on the door. No one answered, so Bobby reached under the rug at the front door and pulled out an emergency key.
"How un-original," Kitty grunted, stretching her arms. Bobby ignored her and opened the door.
"Hello?" He called out. "Mom? Dad? Ronny?"
"You have a brother?" Kyle asked.
Bobby nodded. "Is anyone home?" Bobby looked at his comrades, realizing that they all still wore pyjamas and nightgowns. "I'll get you guys some clothes. And John, don't burn anything." John clicked on his lighter in response.
As Bobby went to get Rogue and Kitty some clothes, Kyle walked into the kitchen where Logan was looking through the fridge. Logan found a beer and started to drink it.
"So, you know Stryker, kid?" Logan asked.
Kyle shrugged. "No. I mean yes- I don't know," Kyle stuttered.
Logan nodded. "Same here, kid." The two both unsheathed their claws as a thud on the kitchen counter was heard. It was only a cat, which licked the tip of Logan's claws and then minded it's own business. Logan sheathed his claws and gaped at the blades in Kyle's.
"It's complicated," Kyle said, looking at the long blade in his right hand that matched the one on his left. Logan didn't have time to answer when the sound of keys in a door was heard.
After everything settled down, Bobby's parents and his younger brother Ronny sat on one side of the living room while Bobby, Rogue, and Kitty sat on the other side. John leaned against the table, clicking his lighter on and off. Logan stood in the entrance of the kitchen, leaning on the wall. Kyle stood awkwardly beside him. It was silent, so Kyle studied the faces of the Drake family. Bobby's mother Madeline Drake looked worried with the uninvited guests in her living room, Bobby's father Willaim Drake watched Logan with suspicion, since Logan had finished his beer. Bobby's younger brother Ronny sat beside his mother with his arms crossed. His face was twisted with a mix of jealousy, fear and anger, which confused Kyle. Bobby sat between his family and his friends, with a look of concern on his face, worried by how his parents would treat his mutant friends.
"So...uh, when did you know when you were a- uh..." Madeline Drake said awkwardly.
"A mutant?" Bobby interrupted. John continued clicking his lighter until it got on her nerves. "Would you please cut that out?" She blurted out.
John ceased clicking his lighter.
"You have to understand," William Drake continued, "We thought that Bobby was going to a school for the gifted,"
"Bobby is gifted," Rogue pointed out.
"We know that, but we just didn't think-" William started to say.
Madeline cut him off. "We still love you, Bobby." Bobby's mother interrupted. "It's just this mutant problem-"
"What mutant problem?" Logan asked. Kyle wondered if Bobby's family was interrogating Bobby or they were interrogating Bobby's family.
"What exactly were you a professor of, Logan?" Mr Drake asked. Bobby had introduced Logan as Professor Logan before.
"Are," Logan corrected coldly.
"You should see what Bobby can do," Rogue suggested, trying to relieve the tension. John looked up to see Ronny fidgeting in anger. His parents were unaware of this. John and Kyle both glanced at Ronny, then at each other. Bobby's mother, who had made herself a cup of tea, started to drink it. Bobby silently leaned forward, touching the teacup. Ronny peered to the right, curious. Madeline stopped sipping it to watch as frosty lines appeared on the cup as the tea froze and the cup turned cold. Madeline tipped the cup on the plate, and a semi-circled frozen bit of tea fell to the plate with a 'clink'. The cat that had scared Logan leapt onto the table and instantly began to lick the frozen chunk of tea on the plate. John started snickering as Bobby's mother slid back from the frozen tea in shock. Ronny Drake could no longer stand it. He leapt from the couch in jealousy and marched angrily away up the stairs.
"Ronny!" Madlenine Drake cried. She looked helplessly at her husband who was also shocked by his son's powers. Bobby's face fell as he saw what happened, now questioning if he should have done this.
"This is all my fault," Bobby's mother breathed out. Ronny watched from the stairs and then walked to his room, with a phone to his ear.
"911, what's your emergency,"
"I need the police, there are people in the house, it isn't safe," Ronny whispered.
John and Kyle watched as Logan walked outside using the emergency phone.
"No one's left, Jean," Logan was saying. "Soldiers came."
"What about some of the children?" Storm answered on the phone anxiously.
"Some of them escaped." Logan answered dryly, "I'm not sure about the rest."
"We haven't been able to reach the professor or Scott, either," Jean answered. "We're coming Logan."
"Make it fast." Logan replied. Kyle heard the conversation with his enhanced hearing. What had happened to the other children? Did they get captured? What would those soldiers do to them? He tuned out of what Bobby's parents were saying. Suddenly, he heard the sound of police cars outside the house.
Logan, burst out the front door of Bobby's house with Bobby, Rogue, Kyle, John, and Kitty. Two squad cars were parked on the driveway.
"This is a misunderstanding." Logan said, although he unsheathed his claws.
"DROP THE KNIVES!" The first police officer shouted at Logan.
"I can't," Logan responded. "Look," Logan pointed his arm at the police officer. Loan sheathed his claws, which made a sound that sounded like knives being thrown. Suddenly, a shot rang out, and Logan fell to the floor with a bullet in his head. Kitty and Rogue screamed, and Kyle, Bobby, and John stared at the police officer in horror.
The police froze, before regaining his composure. "Alright the rest of you, get on the ground!" The teens instantly dropped on their hands and knees. Kyle watched Logan, who did not move. Was Logan actually dead? John, who was still in shock, refused to get down.
"I said, on the ground!" Two other police officers emerged from behind a squad car. Two more cars arrived.
"We don't want to hurt you, kid," A female officer said from the other side of the front porch.
"Get down!" Kitty hissed.
"You know about those dangerous people you hear about on the news?" John randomly said, clicking on his lighter. "I'm the worst one." Kyle stole a peak up at John's face. The flame from the lighter emerged into a ball of fire as it whooshed through the air at the officer who shot Logan.
"AAAAAAAAHHHH!" The officer shouted. John spun around, shooting a beam of fire at the female officer on his left. Spinning around, John shot fire into the house, where two officers had tried to sneak up on them from the back. He continued to shoot fire at the squad cars, lighting them up in flames. Ronny watched from the window in horror, regretting his choice.
"John! STOP!" Kyle shouted. Rogue removed one of her gloves and grabbed Johnny's ankle. Kyle watched as John's veins turned purple as Rogue's powers absorbed his power. The fire from his hands faded off. Rogue raised her other hand at the squad cars, and the flames instantly disappeared in smoke. The bullet in Logan's forehead popped out of his skull and Logan's eyes flickered open. A whooping sound was heard in the sky, and everyone looked up to see the X-Jet landing.
"Let's go!" Kyle exclaimed, helping Kitty to her feet as they took off with a groggy John. Bobby stole one more look at his parents, who stood in the doorway. Bobby turned around and ran to the plane. They arrived in the plane to see Jean and Storm in the plane, along with a young adult with blue skin, three fingers, and a blue pointed tail.
"Guten tag," The blue man greeted them in a weird language.
"Who the hell is this?" Logan demanded.
"Kurt Wagner," the man introduced. "But in the Munich circus, I was known as the Incredible Nightcrawler-"
"Yeah, save it," Logan responded. Kyle stole another look at the man, seeing a dark circle on the back of Nightcrawler's neck. It looked very familiar. Kyle instantly felt the back of his own neck, and felt a faded in-print on it.
"Storm?" Logan said.
"We're out of here." Ororo responded, as the plane took to the skies. Kyle was seated in a chair, buckled in. Logan unbuckled himself from the chair across from him to stand behind Jean and Storm in the cockpit.
"How far are we?" Logan asked.
"We're actually coming up to the mansion now," Jean answered.
"You okay?" Kitty asked Kyle.
"Yeah, I think. But I think too much has happened in the past twenty-four hours." Kyle jokes.
"Hah." Kitty chuckled. "Me too."
"I got two signals approaching," Storm interrupted. "Coming in fast."
"Unidentified aircraft! You are ordered to descend to 20,000 feet. Return with our escort to Hanscom Air Force Base. You have ten seconds to comply." A voice said into their radio. Kyle and Kitty shared a worried look.
"Wow, somebody's angry." Storm muttered.
"Yeah, I can't imagine why." Logan frowned at John.
"We are coming alongside you to escort you to Hanscom Air Force Base. Lower your altitude now."
Storm looked to the left window where one of the two planes flanked the X-jet. A woman in the plane pointed her finger downwards, confirming that it was her speaking.
"Repeat, lower your altitude to 20,000 feet," she said. "This is your last warning."
After a minute of stalling, the two planes pulled back.
"They're falling back," Storm realized. "They're marking us."
"What?" Logan cried.
"Marking us? Are they going to shoot us?" Kitty demanded.
"They're going to fire!" Storm cried. "Hang on!" Logan instantly got back into his seat as everyone did the same. Rogue tugged at her seatbelt, but it was broken.
"I gotta shake em." Storm said. Kyle watched closely as Ororo''s eyes turned white. Then the plane shook and then spun around in a circle.
"Please don't do that again," John pleaded, dizzy from the spinning.
"I agree," Logan sided. "Don't we have any weapons in this heap?" Storm's eyes went white again, and the sky darkened to Kyle's surprise. Mini- tornadoes appeared behind them, and the army plane had to dodge them. Kyle clenched the arm-chair as he felt sick as the plane swerved from side to side. One of the planes was destroyed, and the pilot parachuted out. One left to go. The last one aimed his missile launchers at the X-jet before firing the button sending two missiles whizzing towards the X-Jet and then parachuting out.
Sensing that the planes were taken out, Storm's eyes turned back to normal.
"Everybody okay back here?" Jean asked. John threw up in response.
"No." Logan groaned. Everyone sighed in relief. Before they could celebrate, a loud beeping was heard from the control panel.
"Oh my god," Storm gasped. "There's two of them." Jean focused her telekinetic powers on the missiles. Her eyes glowed like fire. One of the missiles began to spin around out of control before exploding into the air.
"There's one more," Storm pointed out. "Jean…"
Jean grunted as she tried to focus her powers again, but failed. "Oh God!" Jean shouted. Kyle tensed himself for an explosion. The missile spun around before exploding, but however, it was too close to the X-Jet and blew up the back of the plane, and cold air rushed into the plane. Kyle felt a tug as the plane plummeted downwards, and he screamed in terror along with everyone else. Rogue, who's seatbelt was broken, slipped out of the chair and was flung into the sky with a scream.
"ROGUE!" Bobby cried out in despair.
"No!" Logan shouted. Suddenly Nightcrawler disappeared from his chair.
"Where'd he go?" Kyle asked. Suddenly Nightcrawler popped back in the plane with Rogue. Kyle realized later that Nightcralwer could teleport himself, but he was too freaked out by the situation to marvel at it. Kitty peeked out the window to recognize a bunch of trees not far from them. Which also meant they were reaching the ground.
Kitty shouted something at Kyle, but he could not hear what she said.
"What?" Kyle shouted back at her. He could not hear her over the noise. He managed to hear snippets of "Kyle"," I", and "you". Suddenly, the plane stopped in mid-air, hovering above the ground beneath them.
"Jean?" Storm wondered.
"It's not me." Jean said darkly. Kyle craned his neck to see two people on the ground below them. One of them was a blue female with red hair, who almost looked nude. Next to her was an old man in a dark purple costume and a red cape along with a purple and red helmet. He held his hand towards the plane as if he was holding it in the air.
"When will these people learn how to fly?" The man said with a smirk.
That's the fifth chapter. What did Kitty say to Kyle? Let me know what you think in the comments. Here's your teasers:
