Chapter 5: Forest Investigation

The next morning in the red cabin the sun shone through the window of the room Logan was sleeping in.

Once Logan got up, he yawned and stretched his aching body with a few cracks heard.

He got out of bed and put on his clothes.

Now he wore a black t-shirt, black shorts, and black socks.

Logan then went to the kitchen and grabbed two pieces of bacon, a bagel and cream cheese.

Once breakfast was all done and ate he ate the last of his meal, Logan heard footsteps coming from the upper room.

He turned to see Riley and Terran coming down.

Riley was wearing a pair of grey khaki shorts and a red t-shirt.

Terran was wearing a hobo t-shirt, black khaki shorts, and wearing a white american hat bandana around his head.

"Morning, Logan." Riley greeted his little brother with a smile.

"Hey guys." Logan greeted them back with his own smile as he dumped his paper plate in trash.

Soon Ambrea came up and greeted her two cousins and brother. "Morning, boys."

"Hey Ambrea." They greeted her.

"So what should we do first?" Terran asked.

"Why don't we head down to the Squapan River and catch a few fish?" Riley suggested.

Ambrea just looked disgusted. "I don't even like to fish."

Logan just chuckled and said to her. "Well, sometimes we have to get out of the cabin and do something. Come on, guys."

With that, Riley and Terran brought out their fishing poles, worms, and water.

Then the four were all set and ready to go.

"I really don't feel like this at all-" Ambrea was cut off when Terran pushed her a bit.

"Come on, sis. It's too late to decide on what to do." Terran said to his sister.

Soon they went inside the truck and began to head on their way.

The screen switches to Squapan River as we see some vans pull in the driveway. The label sign shows on the vans labeled 'T.G.R.I.' on them. Soon some scientists came out and brought out some strange white coolers which were labeled disposed.

They went to the left side of the dam with the water flowing down and went into the forest.

(Scene changes)

Unknown to them two people showed up behind one of the vans.

One was a teenaged man with brown pants, a beard, brown cotton candy hair, jacket, t-shirt, and shoes. Her name was Melody Experience.

The other was a teenaged woman with a yellow t-shirt, jeans, golden hair, and sneakers.

"This isn't gonna be like the salmon farm. Is it, Grant?" The girl said to Grant.

This made Grant look at her and said. "Hey, those fish died free. Now come on, let's go, Experience."

As soon as they went deeper into the forest to catch up with scientists, the red truck was heading on its way to the exact location.

As Riley continued driving, he noticed his brother in the front seat looking a bit unsure of what he saw last night.

"What's on your mind, Log?" Riley asked.

Terran noticed it as well. "Are you still thinking about what we saw on the news?"

Logan looked at them and answered with a sigh. "What if that scientist, Professor Kirby Janson was telling something about this 'T.G.R.I.' thing made sense. The highly toxic part? We should think about this."

"Come on, it would be lucky that guy was being silly." Ambrea said with a smirk.

This made Logan look at her with a look of unamusement before turning back to the road they were on.

(Scene changes)

In the forest, Grant and Melody went deeper into the woods until they eventually came out to see them departing some canisters that contained some sort of strange four hoofed creatures inside them and it seems as though they didn't have any fur. They see a shed with other scientists that were loading in some boxes in the back of trucks.

"We better get back and fast, so we can tell them what's happening." Melody whispered to Grant.

This made him whisper back to her. "Not without any proof."

Then he made a quick dash to one of the coolers, as Melody tried to stop him by whispering, and opened the container. He grabs one of the canisters and makes a mad dash back to Experience.

The scientists spotted him and one of them said. "After him!"

Grant and Melody ran back into the woods as the scientists went after them.

They eventually came into the forest and hid behind some tree logs.

"What were you thinking?" Melody whispered to Grant sternly. "We were supposed to watch, get back with proof, and explain everything."

"This is proof right here, and a really good one." Grant whispered back to her.

They looked at the canister and in fact, there was a strange lamb with bad teeth.

Melody was unsure as she noticed the label that said highly toxic.

"Actually, that's probably highly toxic material!" Melody replied back to him.

"Come on! We gotta at least give this some proof. If we don't find a way to stop this, Angus Oldfield will spread the mutagen all over the country." Grant said to her.

Suddenly they heard the scientists yelling out as they were trying to find them.

"Split up, hurry!" Grant said to Melody.

They ran in separate directions.

Grant was making a mad dash through the trees, but as he was running, he tripped over a log.

He falls into some leaves, but fails to notice that he dropped the canister and it shattered.

The scientists then went in another direction.

Once Grant lifted his head, he then noticed the canister's shattered glass. But to his horror, the lamb was nowhere to be seen.

As he was looking, the lamb was seen crawling on his back. But the strange thing is, it's eyes were completely white, and it was making some strange growling noises.

Then it snarls, and bites Grant's right ear, making him scream in pain.

Melody hears his wailing pain. But she decided to run off as she realized what had happened.

Grant was screaming in pain as the mutant lamb still had its jaws clamped on his ear.

He tried to desperately get it off, but it wouldn't budge. Then he forcefully gets it off his ear.

Grant has it in his hands as it snarled at him a bit, before he throws it aside. He screams in pain because his ear has blood shown.

Then he runs off as the lamb follows him by crawling on the ground, snarling all the way.
