Ruby Pov.
Today was the day. Mad-Eye and the Scamanders all accompanied me to the station. I had no idea where James was, although he was probably with our parents. "Promise you'll write," Tina asked.
"Of course," I said, "I'll write to all of you." I gave a few more hugs, before grabbing my stuff waving good bye. I went on the train where I found an empty compartment, I took out my notebook, which was the script of my book, and began the section on defense and security. I was making good progress, when three girls came through the door.
It seemed as if they didn't notice me, and put all their things down. I took a good look at them. The tallest of them, persumabley the oldest, had long black hair, with curls just like mine. Her eyes were violet in color, and had streaks of grey in them. The middle girl, was nearly identical to the elder, minus the black hair. Her hair was chocolate brown, and she had deep brown eyes.
The third held herself arrogantly, and was very different from the others. She had long, blond hair in those same curls. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue-grey, and she had a slim figure. "Hello," I said introducing my self, "I'm Heiress Ruby Potter, what are your names." The girls visibly cringed at my name, and the youngest stuck her nose up in distaste.
"What do you want little blood traitor?" she snarled.
At that comment, my hair and eyes turned a blood red. "I am not related to you as far as I'm concerned, so how did I betray you?" I yelled. The girls looked shocked, and the eldest held her hand out to me.
"Bellatrix Black," she said, "and these are my sisters Andromeda and Narcissa." I took her hand, and smiled.
"What brings you to my compartment?" I asked, "I'm sure there are plenty others."
"We didn't know it was taken," Andromeda said softly, "we can move if you'd like."
"No, I don't mind just curious," I asked, "So what years are you in."
Bellatrix responded by saying, "I'm a fifth year, Andy's a third year, and Cissy's a first year like you."
"What houses are you in," I asked, "and Narcissa what house would you like to be in?"
"Slytherin, of course," Narcissa said haughtily, "just like every other Black, and every other Black will be, unlike you, little future Lion"
"Oh," I said, "I won't be in Gryffindor as far as I'm concerned. I'll probably end up in Ravenclaw or Slytherin, more likely Slytherin."
The other girls mouths dropped, and Bellatrix asked, "Why?"
"Simple," I said, "I don't fit anywhere else other than maybe Ravenclaw." After that there was silence in the compartment. It wasn't until James showed up, that anything exciting happened.
"If it isn't the wayward Potter," he teased, "what are you doing with the Blacks, they are evil."
Suddenly, Bellatrix stood up, "If we're evil, why you hanging around Itty Bitty Sirius Black."
"He's different," James shot back, "come, sister away from these slimy snakes."
"Absolutely not," I said standing up, drawing out my full height, "I am the heiress to your house and that title deserves respect. As a punishment for your rudeness and insubordination, I, Heiress Crystal Sapphire Jade Pearl Amethyst Ruby Potter, dispel your allowance for the next three months. So I say it, so mote it be." I waved my wand and felt as my magic changed, and went to ensure my decree.
I watched as James squirmed, his magic seemingly obeying my decree as his heiress. "Come with me sis," he said trying to drag me with him. This is what I've been training my whole life for.
"Batus Mucus," I yelled, flicking my wand at him. Bats stated flying out of his nose, and he ran out of the compartment yelling for a prefect. I cackled madly, before sending a few hexes at his friends. They screamed like little girls, and ran out of the compartment as well.
"How can you use the Bat-Bogey Hex so well?" Bellatrix asked me, "I'm a fifth year, and I can barely do it."
"My godparents are aurors," I said, "well an ex-auror in Tina's case, and my godmother's husband is a magizoologist, and all three were war heroes. I've picked up on a lot, and my godfather takes me to auror training sometimes."
"Wait a minute," Bellatrix said, eyes narrowing, "Ex auror and magizoologist, are your godparents Newt Scamander and his wife?"
"Yes and no," I said, "Tina is my godmother, but my godfather is Alastor Moody, the head auror, that's why I've gone to auror training before."
Bellatrix's eyes widened, and she asked, "Can I meet them one day?"
I chuckled, and said, "Sure, I don't see the problem." We continued chatting for a little, and I realized only Bellatrix genuineley wanted to talk to me. Narcissa seemed disgusted by me, and Andromeda seemed indifferent. When we got to the station, I waved good bye to Bellatrix, and followed the man who called himself Hagrid to the boats. I got on a boat which had two girls and a boy.
The girl had plain red hair, and beautiful pine green eyes. The boy had greasy, black hair, coal black eyes, and a long hooked nose. The second girl seemed as if she was there first, and the others just sat down much like myself. She had beautiful, shiny blond hair, and stunning silvery-blue eyes.
"Hi, I'm Ruby Potter," I said, introducing myself, "what's yours?"
The girl looked shocked, and refused to talk to me. The girl next to me snapped out of whatever trance she was in, and introduced herself. "I'm Pandora (whatever Luna's mother's maiden name was.)"
"Nice to meet you Pandora," I said, "what house are you looking for?"
"I think I'll go wherever the one who sort us tells me to go," she said dreamily.
This girl was nice, and I chatted with her for the remainder of the ride. I looked up, and I finally saw the Hogwarts castle. It was an awe-inspiring experience. The walls seemed to be filled to the brim with magic, even from so far away.
We got of the boat where Hagrid knocked. I zoned out, and followed the other children mindlessly as I tried to soak up as much magic as I can. When I finally snapped out of my daze, we were being led into a big hall. Students from all the years above were watching as we strolled down the aisle. There was a grimy, old hat, which suddenly started singing.
I wasn't too shocked at that. I knew the spell Cantis could enchant objects and people into singing. When the hat finished, I clapped along with everyone. A strict looking professor, took out a list of names.
"Black, Narcissa," she called.
Narcissa stuck her nose in the air, before making her way up to the small, brown stool. It was 10 seconds after the hat hit her head, before it yelled, "Slytherin." Narcissa walked through the students, and took the seat right next to Andromeda.
I heard someone shout, "The day a Black goes to Gryffindor is the day a Potter goes to Slytherin." Many people seemed to agree with this, and the professor continued with the names.
"Black, Sirius," Black made his way up smirking at my brother.
"Gryffindor," the hat yelled to the shocked crowd.
Sirius whooped and ran to the Gryffindor table, while someone yelled, "I guess a Potter's going to Slytherin."
"Bones, Amelia," the professor called next. A girl with dirty blond, almost brown hair stepped forward. She sat down on the stool gingerly, before the hat covered her eyes.
The hat sat there for like 20 seconds, before yelling, "Hufflepuff." The girl gently placed the hat back on the stool, and walked to the Hufflepuff table.
I zoned out before I heard, "Pandora _" I gave her a smile, as she skipped to the hat.
Moments later the hat called, "Ravenclaw," and Pandora skipped to her table.
After Pandora sat down, the professor called out, "Lupin, Remus." It was that sickly friend of James.
He sat for a half a minute, and then the hat called, "Gryffindor." Lupin ran to the Gryffindor table, and sat down next to Black.
MacDonald, Mary was sorted into Gryffindor, Patil, Leo went to Ravenclaw, and Pettigrew Peter to Gryffindor.
"Potter, Crystal Sapphire Ja-" started the Professor (I really need to find out her name.)
"We get it," I said walking up, "I have a lot of names, call me Ruby."
The hat was put on my head, and I felt it enter my mind.
"Hello Mr. Hat," I said, "do you like my defenses? Excuse me, how rude of me, I'm Ruby Potter what's your name?"
The hat chuckled?! "They are lovely defenses, but how will I sort you? Oh, and I don't have a name."
"Simple," I told him, "I don't fit in Gryffindor like Mad-Eye. I'm brave, but not chivalrous and reckless. I don't either fit in Hufflepuff like Newt. I'm loyal, but only to those who gain my trust. I'm hardworking, depending on what needs to be done. I may fit into Ravenclaw, but truly my greatest fit is Slytherin, as I am an extremely conniving person, so says Mad-Eye."
The hat agreed, and yelled out, "Slytherin." At that chaos broke out. The one who said the day a Black goes to Gryffindor is the day a Potter goes to Slytherin, was yelling I told you so.
I sat down next to Bellatrix, who congratulated me. I started thinking about what I would tell my godfamily, would I tell my blood family, wait scratch that, James will. I was coming out of my thoughts when Dumbledore finished his speech. I ate quickly, and went up with the prefects. I went to sleep immediately, saving the chatter for the next morning.
