Chapter 5

-Hange's pov-

The following day I rushed over to the research center to check up on the titans. I quickly saddled up my horse and rode over with my notebook in hand. As my horse came to a slow stop and neighed loudly, my whole body froze as I saw one of the titans toasted. All there was left was its remaining bones and ashes lying around. I got off my horse and ran towards the mess as I tried to comprehend what I just witnessed. My own two eyes started to tear up a bit when I saw Sawney jr dead and vanished into thin air. I turned my head to the other titan that was alive, and he seemed fine. Bean jr. looked at me with a saddened face as if he felt pity. I let out a huge sigh and called out to my team to report to me on the situation.

"Commander Hange, we have no idea what happened last night, our guards went on a break and came back to this mess" my assistant exclaimed while frantically throwing her hands up.

"For how long they went on a break for?!" I raised my voice.

"Uh um, I'm not sure…" my assistant looked down at the ground in shame.

"Ugh, this isn't funny you know? I want you to go find those 2 guards from last night right now!" I shouted with a serious sharp tone in my voice which immediately made everyone scramble to find the guards.

I was highly disappointed and upset from what I had to witness early in the morning. A hand then touched my shoulder and I turned around to see Levi.

"Is something wrong, Hange?" Levi asked with his usual stone-cold face.

"well, one of my titans ,aka Sawney jr., died and we don't know how. I came here this morning to see his ashes and bones all over the place." I replied.

"Interesting…" you could tell arrogance was filled into his reply.

"interesting?" my eyes widened when that word left his mouth.

"You're joking right? Its not funny Levi. I've worked hard to capture these two titans and with your help too!". I yelled at him face to face without a care in the world.

"Tch, watch your mouth four eyes. You should be grateful I even got you those titans in the first place." Levi said.

"Well…I bet you wouldn't mind getting me another one. An abnormal one perhaps? Or is that feeding your big Ackerman ego too much?". At this point I didn't care what I said because I was furious, and I wasn't going to put with his attitude.

"Without me, you would be titan lunch, so I suggest you straighten up" Levi snapped back while staring deep into my eyes.

I grew tired of his threats and finally said back to him, "You definitely have no clue who you're talking to, I'm the one who trained you and yet you think your all high and mighty just because of a higher kill count". I finally let it all out and waited for his response.

There was just a brief moment of silence as we stared at each other with anger in out face. We then realized how heated things got and I quickly apologized as I stared down at my feet.

"All u want is another titan, right? I guess we can go capture one early tomorrow…" Levi said as he looked away and rubbed his nape.

I slowly lifted my head up and went "what? For real?".

Levi sighed and replied saying "This is the last titan ill capture for you, after that you're on your own in keeping them alive or whatever.".

"You have no clue how much this means to me and my research! But of course, ill take good care of uh…" I tried to think of a name for the new titan id capture.

"Oh! Sawney the 3rd" I proudly cheered with my fist in the air.

Levi slightly chuckled under his breath after hearing what I had to say. I turned away in embarrassment as I started to nerd out but realized that I just made Levi laugh. I felt my face heat up from what I just accomplished but I quickly brushed it off and faced him.

"HAHA, did you just laugh Leviiii?" I teased him with a bit a joy.

"You must be deaf commander" He replied trying to stay serious when deep down he knew that he laughed.

-Levi's pov-

Damn it, I just laughed in front of her. That wasn't supposed to happen at all, I never laugh in front of anyone or myself for that matter. Every time I'm with her, she lightens up my mood. Am I perhaps catching feelings? This is super bad because if I don't stop myself I might…lose her too. I immediately shook my head at the thought of something tragic happening to Hange and went back to reality.

"Well, about that offer…" Hange asked me.

"Tch, I was joking but fine. Let's meet up tomorrow morning before sunrise by the horse stables." I said in a super annoyed voice.

"That's the spirit! Well ill see you then cap'n" Hange walked off as she said that and rode off with her horse.
