(A/N) Been a while since I uploaded any snippets, hasn't it? Sorry 'bout that. Either way, though, here's a deleted scene from the most recent chapter of the main fic - and who was going to be the next half-Maiden before a much better candidate was brought to my attention.

/-\ Mother of a dead boy /-\

I sighed as I chopped up the carrots for tonight's stew, knowing that I'd never need to feed ten mouths again. 'Sure, it wasn't easy to do it, but…' I blinked away the wetness in my eyes, thoughts of him clouding my mind. 'I'd do anything to have my little boy back…'

Just then, the back door practically flew open. "Mom!"

My gaze sharpened, darting to my youngest daughter. "Dorée Juniper Arc, what have I told you about bursting through the door?"

She stiffened. "U- Umm… not to?"

"Yes. Not to." I said. "So why did you do it anyways?"

"I- I was just… excited." She said. "I found my semblance!"

I raised an eyebrow, setting down the kitchen knife I only just remembered I was holding. "Really, dear?" I asked. "Well, I suppose I can forgive you, then. Let's go outside so you can show me."

She giggled, hopping from one foot to the other as we walked onto the deck. When she sprinted into the yard and started making a snowman in spring – from snow that she just pulled out of thin air – I knew things were going to get complicated.

Maybe Beacon was on the table for her, too – Gods know she never stopped talking about it after Jaune left. Saphron was even there right now; she could drop off the application in person. I sighed, knowing Dorée, Arthur, and I were going to be having a loooooong talk tonight…
