Barry woke up once again in Kara's bed, with his beautiful Kryptonian girlfriend beside him, still asleep. He used a finger to move a stray strand of hair back behind her ear, before resting his hand on her cheek. He sighed, watching her sleep, looking so adorable as she snuggled closer to him, the smallest of smiles gracing her lips. He honestly hadn't felt this full in his life. He'd had others before, but Kara was… different. Not just beautiful and loving, but pure.
As Barry was pondering these things, a breeze blew the curtain back a bit, causing a ray of sunlight to fall on Kara's face. She scrunched her eyebrows, before opening them, the sun now covered as the curtain floated back to its position.
"Hey you." Kara said, smiling fully as she gazed upon her speedster boyfriend with groggy eyes.
"Hey." Barry replied, planting a soft kiss on Kara's forehead. "Sleep well?"
"Mm hmm." Kara nodded, her eyes still closed, as she hummed in satisfaction while tightly hugging Barry.
"I'll go make us some breakfast." Barry said, getting up, when suddenly Kara grabbed onto his hand.
"Wait." She said, pulling him back into bed, wrapping her arms around his neck and planting a sweet kiss on his lips. Barry happily kissed her back for a few seconds, wrapping his own arms around her, before letting go. "That's better." Kara said, her eyes now fully open. "Now I have a suggestion. Why don't we go out for breakfast today?" she asked.
"I like this suggestion, Ms. Danvers." Barry said, a mock thoughtful expression on his face.
"And since you don't have to cook, Mr. Allen, I get to hold on to you for that much longer." Kara said, before pulling Barry impossibly close to her, squealing as she did. Barry let out a small chuckle, before giving in to Kara snuggling into him, occasionally sharing languid kisses.
.
.
Some time later, Barry and Kara were heading out to get some breakfast.
"I know a great place for breakfast." Kara said as they exited her apartment building, walking at normal speed, hands intertwined. Barry didn't know what it was, but everything looked brighter to him. The streets, the cars, the sky, the people. He decided to credit it to the walking bundle of sunshine and joy beside him, who smiled fully at him as he gazed at her, beautiful in the sun.
Kara caught him staring at her, emotions swirling on his face. "Barry? What is it?" she asked, suddenly concerned.
"Nothing." Barry said, shrugging. "Nothing wrong. I'm just… thankful for you." He said, his voice slightly quaking.
Kara blushed, before her grin got even bigger as she gave Barry a smile that he'd swear, could literally jolt his heart back from death.
Presently, the two heroes arrived at a small diner, the words 'Two Whales Diner' written largely on the top and on the door. They entered the small place, and immediately, the smell of coffee and bacon overtook their olfactory senses.
"Mmm that smell gets me every time." Kara said, taking in a deep breath. "Let's get a booth." She said, grabbing Barry's hand and dragging him through, settling on the last booth in the corner. They sat down, side by side, as Kara started looking at the menu.
"Breakfast Special?" she asked Barry.
"Whatever you say, Ms. Danvers." Barry said, raising his hands, smiling.
"If you say so, Mr. Allen." She said, eyes narrowing, leaning close to him. She bit her lower lip, before planting a languid kiss on Barry's smooth lips.
"That's never going to get old." Barry whispered as they broke the kiss.
"Good." Kara whispered back.
"Well, dang, I haven't seen you this happy in a while." Barry saw a blonde, little bit aged woman in a waitress's uniform.
"Joyce!" Kara said, getting up and hugging her. "Good to see you."
"Good to see you too, Kara." Joyce said.
Kara sat back down. "Barry, this is Joyce, my good friend. Joyce, this is my boyfriend, Barry." She introduced.
"Pleasure, Barry." She waved at Barry.
"You too." Barry waved back.
"How's Chloe?" Kara asked.
"Oh you know, she's in the rebellious phase. Tattoos, blue hair, all that. But she's my daughter." Joyce sighed. "Luckily, she has Max by her side to help her."
"That's good, Joyce. She's just finding her own place in the world." Kara said.
"I know. Now finish your coffee." She said, placing two mugs of coffee on their table.
"She seems nice. How long have you known her?" Barry asked.
"A while. This was one of the first places I ever ate out at in this city. She's been doing a great job of running her diner smoothly." Kara answered, sipping her coffee. "Mmm my go-to coffee is a latte, but man this hits the spot."
"Dang, you're not wrong." Barry said, having taken some sips out of his own cup.
"So, you liking this place, so far?" Kara asked, looking at Barry as she continued drinking her coffee.
"Absolutely." Barry replied, grinning, but then he leaned towards her secretively. "But, you wanna know a little secret?" He asked. Kara nodded, to which Barry whispered, "I like the company way better."
Kara displayed a deep, sweet blush on her cheeks, as she shoved Barry with a playful giggle, her grin stretching from ear to ear.
Presently, the two noticed Joyce coming out of the counter with two fairly large plates.
"Two breakfast specials. Looks like you got someone who eats as much as you, huh?" she smirked.
"You know it." Kara said, smirking herself.
Barry was in awe of the plate before him. It had literally everything. Perfect sunny side up eggs, sausages, bacon, fresh baguettes, and mashed potatoes and boiled vegetables. With the coffee earlier, he honestly couldn't tell how anyone could need anything more. This was the dream breakfast.
"Okay I'm so overwhelmed by this plate. I've never seen anything like it." Barry nearly yelled. "Almost a shame to eat it. Almost." He finished, before digging in. Everything was rich, delicious and packed in flavour. It was magnificent.
"Okay we're coming here every once a week." Barry declared, looking at Kara, who chuckled amusedly.
.
.
Barry and Kara were walking back, both of them quite full, when Barry suddenly asked. "You have work, right?" Kara nodded. "That reminds me of something I need to tell you, Kara." He continued. "I'm going to get a job here."
"Oh.. But why?" she asked.
"Well, I don't often stay at Earth 1 anymore, which is not even a matter of blaming, let alone on you." He suddenly made his voice stern as Kara was about to start blaming herself for it, instead making her smile softly. "So, I quit my CSI job there."
"But Barry, wasn't being a CSI something you loved?" she asked, beginning to blame herself again.
"It was. Now, I don't need to be one. I can be whatever I want. My money is getting tighter, so I'll get a job on the Earth I'm mostly on now." he smiled.
"Are you sure?" Kara asked, doubt still in her eyes.
"As sure as I have ever been." Barry said, giving her a reassuring smile. "Besides, it's not like I'll never go to my Earth again, is it?" he added, cupping her cheeks. Kara closed her eyes and nodded. All she wanted was for Barry to be happy with her. She'd already decided that if he wanted to go back to his Earth, she wouldn't stop him, but here he was, only solidifying the fact that he was staying here now, to the point of getting a new job. It scared her, but it also made her happy.
"Now, you go on to work, and I'll go job hunting for some time, before retiring to your apartment and watching musicals." Barry said.
Kara giggled, before nodding in agreement. "I'll see you soon, Barry. I love you."
"I love you too, Kara." Barry replied, pressing a soft but languid kiss on her soft lips, relishing her taste as he stretched the couple seconds the kiss lasted into almost an eternity, before they let go of each other, and Kara went to CatCo.
.
.
After going around a few places, looking for a small job in the meantime to get him on his feet, and failing miserably, Barry went back to Kara's apartment. Being a bartender or a librarian was not an easy task, so he'd found out today. Besides, even if they were easy, and even with his super speed an undoubted advantage, he didn't want those jobs. He didn't feel right there. And it had nothing to do with the pay, or the states of the jobs. His heart just wasn't there. He couldn't continue being a CSI. Not only had he just quit one of those jobs, but to be one here, he'd need perfect degrees, which he didn't have. On top of that, Captain Singh had known him for years, so taking leaves were easy, but here, he'd be starting anew, so disappearing suddenly to be the Flash was going to be difficult here.
Barry was pondering all this, when suddenly his phone started ringing. Looking at the name on the screen brought a smile to his face, and he picked up the call.
"Hey Barr. I'm just about done here, and I'll head home in a minute. With food." Kara's voice rung out from the phone.
"That's good. Pizza?" Barry asked.
"Yep. Also, how was your job hunt?" she asked jovially.
"Could have gone better. Way better." He replied.
"Oh, Barry. Don't worry. You're gonna find a good one soon enough." Kara said. "I'm coming soon, okay?"
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too." Kara hung up. She pondered for a second. Barry's voice wasn't laced with sorrow or depression. It was a sense of incompletion. Like he was missing something. She thought about it hard. Barry had just quit the job he'd wanted all his life to solve his mother's murder and get his father out of prison. Now he was on a different Earth, after going through so much. Being a CSI didn't hold the same meaning for him, so he probably wants to do something else. Except due to that extreme passion towards becoming a CSI, then suddenly losing its meaning, he has no idea what to do now, she reasoned. A piece of him is no longer there. She wondered what she could do for him as she was packing her stuff up, ready to leave. Suddenly, she remembered something. She put her bag back on her desk and hurried to Lena's office.
"Lena! Hey!" she nearly yelled.
"Hey Kara, calm down. What is it?" Lena asked, curious as to what had her best friend so worked up.
"Lena, one of our reporters recently quit, right?" Kara asked.
"Yes." Lena answered.
"And we're looking for someone to fill that spot?"
"Yes..?"
"I was wondering… I know someone who'd probably be really good at it. He doesn't have any previous experience in this field but… you could have an interview for him… or-" Kara began stuttering, but Lena interrupted.
"Is he someone special?" Lena asked, smirking.
Kara blushed a little, before nodding.
"Well, I can hold an interview, but I cannot guarantee a job just because you know him, you get that right?" Lena asked.
"No no, of course! I just want him to have a chance." Kara quickly replied.
"Okay then. Tell him to come over here tomorrow. If he's got the skills, the job is his." Lena finished before smirking. "Now I want to know everything. What's his name? Where is he from?..." Lena started grilling Kara for answers, and a flustered, blushing Kara tried her best to answer.
.
.
.
Kara opened the door to her apartment and entered to see Barry on the couch, still in thought.
"Hey." She called out, making her presence known.
"Oh hey." Barry said as he saw her, getting up.
"I brought potstickers! Loads of them." Kara grinned.
"Is that right? Well we'd better finish them before they get soggy, hmm?" Barry said, going in for a kiss, which Kara happily gave him.
"Yes we should. But I also have something to talk about. Come on, I'm starving!" she said, pulling him to the table, putting the packs of food on it and opening them up. Barry quickly sorted them out onto plates with his speed, and the two started eating, at normal speed.
"So? What did you want to talk about?" Barry asked, swallowing his second potsticker.
"Well, I talked to Lena. One of our reporters recently quit, so there's an immediate vacancy. So, I asked her if she'd hold an interview for you." She said, looking at him nervously. "Do you… want it?"
"Wait, at CatCo? A reporter?" Barry asked.
"Yeah." Kara said, getting a little nervous. "What do you think?"
Barry thought for a second. A reporter. He'd be writing about the truth. Seeking it and presenting it to the people. And as he'd gathered from his visits and from Kara, CatCo does good work getting news to people. This wasn't too far from his job as a CSI, uncovering truths. It was a little less hands on maybe than being a CSI, but he'd like that now. A more relaxing job. With his speed, writing articles would be a breeze.
"I'll go for it." He finally said, with a smile.
"Really?" Kara said, her eyes sparkling wide.
"Yeah. I'll give it a whirl. Plus," he added, smirking at her, "getting to share a workplace with my beautiful girlfriend helps." He took her hand in his.
Kara blushed. "Yeah. It really does, doesn't it?" she said, now looking straight into his eyes, smirking herself.
They stared at each other for a moment. Deep emeralds met bright sapphires, Barry taking Kara's hand in his own. Finally, Kara spoke, "So, uh… Frozen is on. Wanna watch?" she smiled, Barry finding himself mesmerized once again. Her smile was possibly the brightest, most adorable he'd ever seen. He smiled back, nodding. "Perfect for Us."
Kara wrapped her arms around Barry and floated to the couch, carrying her boyfriend with her, setting him down beside her as she nuzzled into his side. Barry chuckled as he took the remote and put on the channel. The two felt content as anything as they watched wee Anna and Elsa playing in the snow, the new snow slide they made being ignored only for a little while as they turned their gaze to each other, sharing a brief but passionate kiss.

Barry woke up, finding himself on the couch, with Kara on top of him, her head on his chest. He could feel his heart beating against one of her hands, which was resting beside her face, also on his chest. His own arms were wrapped around her, on of his hands intertwined with her other one, both their legs tangled with each other. He smiled, looking fondly at the beautiful Kryptonian still asleep on him. She was smiling very slightly in her sleep, before snuggling a little closer to Barry.
Kara's phone suddenly rang, waking Kara up with a little jolt.
"Huh, what? Articles… hey Barr." She nervously chuckled.
"Hey." He said back, caressing her cheek. "Phone?" he asked, using his other hand to give her her phone. She took it and picked up the call.
"Hey James…. Mm hmm sure. Yeah." She spoke into her phone, her voice giving away her sleepiness.
"What is it?" Barry asked.
"Nothing. James wanted me to follow up on a story today." She said, putting her phone away and snuggling closer to Barry, sighing, almost purring in satisfaction as she rested on him.
"Kara it's almost time to go to work for you." Barry softly said.
"We have super speed." Kara mumbled, face smushed up against Barry's chest. "Let me stay here a little longer, Barry." She mumbled further.
"Okay." Barry concurred, gently running a hand over her head, fingers running through her currently messy hair, caressing her, and she gave out another sigh of contentment. Barry couldn't help but smile at how adorable she was.
After a few minutes of Barry happily staring at Kara, she slowly, groggily got up, then sped into the bathroom and came out looking like a California Dream Girl as she usually does.
"How is it you look so beautiful every single day?" Barry said coyly, slowly walking towards her.
Kara blushed beet red. "Don't you have a job interview to get ready for?" she said nervously, all flustered.
"I'm a speedster." He said, quickly rushing in, wrapping his arms around her body, holding her close, moving in for a kiss. Kara's eyes fluttered close, as she slowly advanced, heart stuttering in anticipation, and Barry took one hand off her waist to bring up to her cheek, before his own eyes closed, and he felt her soft, warm lips engulf his. The two kissed each other passionately, slowly walking to the couch, falling onto it, Barry on top of Kara. He freed his lips from hers and went to press languid kisses on her jaw, before descending slowly across her neck. Kara also went round, pressing her lips against Barry's ear.
"Thank God we're fast, huh?" she whispered breathily.
"Not in everything though." Barry gasped back, coming back up to devour her lips, his hand rubbing across her waist, sending waves of pleasure up Kara's spine.
Suddenly, Kara's phone rang again, startling the two. Kara quickly took the call, putting her glasses on, her face red as a tomato.
Barry quickly sat up, getting off of Kara as she spoke into the phone. "Yeah James." She spoke, breathily. "Sorry, I'll be right there. Bye." She said, clearly impatient to hang up.
"So, gotta go?" Barry asked, scratching his head.
"Yeah. This contact is a little feisty, so I have to hurry if I want the story." She said, looking apologetic.
"Hey, I know that look. Don't even think about it." Barry said, quickly getting in front of her, taking both her hands in his own. "You have work to do. We have all the time in the world. Go." he smiled.
"Thanks." Kara smiled back. "And after I'm done with my stake out and you're through with your interview, perhaps we can get some time, just to ourselves." She said, her voice barely a whisper, as she pressed her body up to his again, before planting a brief but passionate kiss on his lips. Barry quickly responded, before Kara broke off and sped out the window, but not before quickly yelling, "Bye! I love you!"
Barry chuckled to himself, before speeding off himself, to meet Lena for his interview.
.
.
.
The day rolled by slowly, but surely, and soon, Kara was done with her follow ups on the source James pointed her to, and she hurried to CatCo, heart heavy with anticipation.
The ding of the familiar bell as the elevator doors opened to her floor was all but ignored, as Kara got off, to find Barry and Lena, clearly visible through the glass walls of Lena's office, shaking hands.
Kara went into the office, where Barry looked like he was leaving.
"Kara! Mr. Allen here just passed my interview, and he'll be needing introductions to the workplace. Seeing as he is here because of you, would you care to do the honors?" Lena said.
"Of course, Lena. I will." She grinned, looking at Barry, who smiled back at her.
"Ms. Luthor, please, call me Barry." Barry said, turning to Lena.
"Only if you extend me the same courtesy, Barry." Lena said.
"Whatever you say, Lena." He smiled, nodding. "I'll start tomorrow?"
"Fine by me. Now, could I have a little word with Kara, Barry?" Lena asked, getting off her desk and heading to Kara.
"Sure. I'll be outside." Barry said, leaving.
"So, that's your boyfriend, hmm?" she smirked immediately at Kara.
"Lena!" Kara glared.
"I'm waiting for an answer." She said, teasingly. Lena was clearly enjoying this a lot.
Kara sighed, cheeks still red. "Yes. Yes he is. My boyfriend. Happy?" she half yelled, puffing her cheeks.
"Mm hmm that's what I want to hear. We'll have to hang out by ourselves some time. I've never actually been a third wheel, seeing as I didn't have too much of a life." Lena said, her smile turning softer.
Kara found herself melting at that, and she put a hand on her shoulder. "You bet we will. You better be ready to get super awkward! I'll let you know." She said, patting Lena.
"Thanks Kara. Now shoo. I have work." Lena said.
"You're starting to sound like Cat." Kara chuckled.
"Go to your boyfriend, Kara." Lena smirked. "Would Cat say that?" she asked when she noticed Kara glaring at her again.
"Ugghh!" Kara huffed, before walking out, waving back at Lena upon hearing a chuckle-laced "Bye." from her.
She quickly hopped over to Barry, who was standing by the elevator, before throwing herself at him. Barry caught her familiar form easily, holding her up as she squealed.
"You got it!" she said excitedly.
"Yeah, I did." He smiled. "Also, I love you too."
"What?" Kara asked.
"You didn't let me say it back this morning." Barry smirked.
Kara chuckled. "Come on, let's go! I can smell a pizza with my name on it from here!" Kara said, pulling Barry into the elevator.

Well that was good. Problem is I'm hit with a big bout of writer's block. Sorry. I'm already working on newer chapters, I'll just be a bit slower for a while. And I am hurrying back to original speed. That's a promise.
Virtual High five and Kudos to whoever recognized the diner and the owner of the diner, and knows where they're from. Y'all know exactly how strange life can get.
As always, review to let me know how you felt about the chapter. Also let me know any suggestions you may have. If the story wants it, I'll definitely use it. That's all for this time, Stay Tuned and Peace!
