Daniel's POV

Vlad didnt say anything even after Guggenheim left. He seemed to be lost within his thoughts. Something about what he heard changed him. The medic came in again to check him over a second time.

When the medic finished checking him over he didnt find any reason to keep him there. A couple of times throughout the examination he glanced over at Vlad. The man's normally expressive face was completley bare of emotions.

Finally the medic allowed them to leave and Daniel's gear was returned to him. He changed from into a black tshirt and jeans. Over the shirt he wore an unzipped grey and black jacket.

Titans and his holotome were just as he left them. Daniel immediately placed Jirwolf over his head so that it hung from his neck. Guggenheim walked them out to a waiting car. No doubt it was one Vlad had gotten them for the trip back to the airport.

Vlad spoke softly with driver as Daniel climbed into the back. He was too tired from the mission to argue. Nothing about him gave off the energy to be able to argue about getting help. Leaning his head against the window he closed his eyes.

To his surprise he almost immediately passed back out. In his exhaustion he didnt even feel Vlad get into car. The drive was made in silence. Daniel's rest if it could be called that was dreamless. It felt as if he had just closed his eyes when a hand shook his shoulder.

Groaning he rubbed his eyes tiredly. Blearily he looked up at Vlad their eyes meeting.

The older half ghost said moving away, "Daniel we are at the airport. Come on you can sleep on the plane."

"Alright, Fruit Loops," grunted Daniel, "Let me get up."

Daniel paused himself away from the door and Vlad got out. The boy was quick to follow. He was forced to blink at the sudden brightness of the world around them. Rubbing at his eyes tried to see his surroundings.

They were on a landing strip and a small private jet was in front of them. Vlad placed a hand on his good shoulder and led him up the stairs of the jet. For once Daniel didnt shrug him off. He just didnt have the energy to do so.

All of his energy drained from him as he collapsed into the seat. His gear was stowed away and he went back into a fitful sleep.

Vlad's POV

Daniel seemed to pass back out the moment he sat in the seat. The younger halfa didnt seem to notice that missing gem. Vlad took it to run some tests on both of their gems. Duty and Devotion.

There wasnt much known about these gems. No matter how much Vlad had searched he could not find any information on them. The more energy he exerted into finding information the more he felt the call to find secrets.

It was only now that Vlad understood what drove the seekers. He helped the seekers with new kinds of gear. While he had a titan of his own he never went on missions like Daniel. He thought it was odd that someone would risk their lives in such a way.

Now all he wanted to hunt for the secrets of the gems. It would be something he would continue to search for information about them in his free time. For now he would watch over Daniel.

Vlad glanced at the boy frowning slightly. It was surprising that he had not heard from Maddy or Jack in the time he had been away. He left a letter after he got a message from Guggenheim. It was a lie that he and Daniel were going on a day trip.

They older Fentons should have seen it by now. Several days had passed while they were waiting for Daniel to wake up. Did they just not care where Daniel was? He saw that as a possibility when it came to Jack. However Maddie had shown more care for her son.

It would be something he would look into more when they returned. For now he would watch over the boy. Already he was being plagued by nightmares. Of what was anyone's guess. There was enough to pull from on both sides.
