Olivia turned to her big sister. "Bria, what's happening?"
She could see the fear in the little girl's eyes and pulled her onto her lap, holding her close. "Mama and Papa aren't our parents Sweet Girl, they kidnapped both of us when we were very little. When the nice lady comes back, we'll know more about what's going on and what's going to happen after. Are you ok?"
"I'm scared."
"I know you are, I'm a little scared too but it's gonna be ok, I promise."
"Does this mean we're not sisters anymore?"
The question broke Gabriella's heart. "We're still sisters Baby, maybe not genetically but I'm always gonna be your big sister, no matter what."
The officer returned a few moments later. "Alright girls, David and Vivien have been taken into custody and we're gonna see how we go in contacting your parents. I'll warn you now, don't be discouraged if we don't get in contact with them immediately, there's always some difficulty after three years of searching but I promise you both, we will find your parents and I don't make promises I can't keep." The officer went through a few files. "Would you like to know your parents' names?" Both girls nodded. "Ok Olivia, your parents' names are Lucille and Jack Bolton and it says here that you have a 17-year-old brother Troy and a twin brother Jacob, isn't that cool?" Olivia nodded slowly and the officer looked at her sympathetically before continuing. "Ok Gabriella, your parents' names are Maria and Greg Montez and I don't see any siblings listed. So I'm going to try Olivia's parents first and then I'll try yours Gabriella."
The officer dialled in the number and they listened anxiously as the phone rung three times before it was picked up, they could only hear one side of the conversation. "Hello, this is officer Harris from the Denver police station, I'm looking for Lucille or Jack Bolton... Yes hello Mrs Bolton how are you?... I'm good thank you and no, you're not in trouble not at all... The reason I'm calling is because we believe that we have found your daughter Lilliana... Yes it has been a long time but we had a lovely young girl come in with her today after seeing her on a missing child poster... There's no need to fly here Mrs Bolton, we've book tickets for Lilliana along with the other girl to fly to Albuquerque and I'll be contacting her parents to meet us there as well... There's no need to thank me Mrs Bolton, I'm just the messenger. You'll be able to thank the real hero when they arrive in Albuquerque... The girls will arrive tomorrow afternoon, so if you and your husband could be at the station at 4:30 that would be great and I read on her file that you have two sons?... I hate to ask but we have to request that only you and your husband come down to the station, it's in our policy, I'm sorry... Thank you for compliance, we'll be seeing you and your husband tomorrow Mrs Bolton, take care."
After she hung up, she turned to Olivia. "Your parents are very happy to see you Olivia and they will be waiting for you tomorrow." Her attention shifted to Gabriella. "I will call your parents now." The officer dialled the number and it rang through but no one answered, she redialled twice more but it seemed to be to no avail. "Don't be discouraged, we will find your parents Gabriella, I'll continue trying to get in contact with them, until then, I'm going to contact a superior in Albuquerque, we've booked tickets for you to fly to Albuquerque at 11:00am tomorrow which will give you around 4 hours to prepare for meeting your parents. For now, we've set up a place for you to sleep and I'll be staying with you here until your flight. Don't worry, you're in very good hands."
