Chapter 5
Showdown With Magica
After she decided to head to Magica's lair on her own, Lena began to wonder if she made the right choose. Despite the fact that she recovered from the rockslide, Lena still felt nervous for when she would inevitably face Magica. Dark clouds began to form around Mount Vesuvius as Magica's lair was in Lena's sights.
With a deep breath, Lena gathered her courage before she entered Magica's lair. She carefully walked around the room before she took notice of Webby trapped in a cage.
"Lena!" Webby smiled, happy to see her girlfriend again.
"Webby!" Lena ran as fast as she could to Webby's cage. "I'm so glad that you're not hurt!" Lena smiled.
"Don't worry, Lena. I'm fine!" Webby assured before she reached out from the bars to hold Lena's hands. "Thanks for coming for me."
"Of course I would come for you, Pink! You are my best friend and I would do anything for you. Now, let's get you out of here. Where is the key?" Lena asked.
Before Webby could answer, Lena was blasted back by a magic spell. Lena got back up to see Magica with a malicious grin
"It was about time that you showed up, Lena! I was getting impatient!"
"Aunt Magica!" Lena glared at the sorceress. "Let Webby go!"
"You have seem to have forgotten, Lena! Hand over your magic powers to me, and I will free your girlfriend."
At first, Lena was hesitant. She couldn't help but think back to the nightmare she had not too long ago. Lena soon stared at Magica in suspicion.
"How can I be so sure that you would keep your word?" Lena asked.
It was at that moment when Magica stayed silent. "Because this is the only way to save your friend. Now, give me your powers!" Magica demanded, clearly losing her patience with Lena.
Without another word, Lena transformed into her super sorceress form. Magica gave an evil laugh as she walked closer to Lena.
"Finally! With your magic combined with mine, I shall become the most powerful sorceress in the world!"
"I don't think so!" Lena replied, much to Magica's surprise. "I won't let you hurt anyone anymore, Aunt Magica!"
With that, Lena summoned as much magic as she could and fired a powerful blast of magic. With a gasp of shock, Magica jumped out of the way.
Once she recovered, Magica glared at Lena. "How dare you? You are going to pay for trying to hit me with that spell!"
"I wasn't aiming for you!" Lena smirked.
Confused with what Lena meant by that, Magica turned and was shocked to find out that Lena destroyed the cage that held Webby.
"Yeah! Way to go Lena!" Webby cheered for her girlfriend before jumping out of the cage.
Now that she was free, Webby rushed over to Lena before giving her a hug. Webby's smile soon faded once she noticed how tired Lena was.
"Lena, are you alright?" Webby asked, concerned for her girlfriend.
"I'm fine. That last spell just wore me down." Lena panted.
With an evil laugh, Magica approached Lena and Webby. "Well done, Lena! You just made it easier for me to take your powers!"
Magica aimed her staff at Lena, but Webby stood in front of Lena with the intent to protect her.
"Get out of the way you wretched brat!" Magica demanded.
Webby shook her head. "No! Lena came all this way just to save me! Now, I'm going to do the same thing for her! I'm not going to let you hurt my girlfriend!"
"Very well! It would be more fun to take you down as well!" Magica's staff began to glow.
With that, Webby began to dodge every spell that Magica fired at her. She ran towards Magica when she was ready to hit Webby with a surprise attack. At the last second, Webby rolled out of the way, dodging the spell.
"That's not going to work on me this time!" Webby taunted the sorceress.
Surprised by how fast Webby was, Magica ended up getting punched and kicked by Webby repeatedly. After a few moments of fighting, Webby and Magica started to feel exhausted until Magica decided that she had enough.
"That's it! It's time that I finish you off!"
The moment Magica raised her staff, Scrooge showed up at the last second and blocked Magica's staff with his cane.
"Mr. McDuck?" Lena was surprised by this unexpected turn of events.
"Of course! We weren't going to miss out on the chance to take on Magica!" Scrooge turned to Lena with a smile.
Lena soon turned to find out that the rest of her friends had showed up as well.
"There's no way that we'll let you take on Magica alone, Lena." Dewey spoke up. "After all, these ducks don't back down."
"Are we still saying that?" Louie asked. "We barely even use that motto."
"Never mind that! We need to help Scrooge!" Huey said.
As Scrooge and Magica were fighting, Magica tried to hit Scrooge with her spells, each of them he easily blocked with his cane.
"This brings back memories of our last fight on Mount Vesuvius." Scrooge said as he continued to fight Magica. "This is just like old times, isn't it, De Spell?"
"The only thing I remembered back then was how much I despised you, Scrooge!" Magica yelled. "I will soon become more powerful than you could ever imagine and I'll bring an end to you and your meddlesome family!"
Once Scrooge jumped out of the way of one of Magica's attacks, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Violet charged towards the sorceress, who simply used her magic to grab them and throw them across the room.
"Did you really think that you could defeat me by being so reckless?" Magica taunted.
"Well, of course it wasn't going to work. We just needed the opportunity to distract you." Violet pointed out.
"Distract me?" Magica asked in confusion. "From what?"
The sorceress soon got her answer as Beakly showed up and knocked her to the ground.
"That was for taking my granddaughter!" Beakly glared at the sorceress.
Having had enough of the fight, Magica grabbed her staff once more and pushed everyone back with her magic.
"That is enough! I am done messing around! Lena's powers are mine!" Magica turned to Lena.
Despite Webby's best attempts to protect Lena, Magica pushed Webby aside with her staff before pointing it at Lena. With a blast of magic from Magica's staff, Lena screamed in pain as Magica stole more and more of Lena's powers.
"Lena! No!"
Webby ran as fast as she could to save Lena, but it was too late. Lena felt herself being drained of all her magic before reverting back to her normal form. With her powers combined with Lena's, the end of Magica's staff changed from its usual purple glow to a bright red color.
"Yes! Lena's powers are now mine! I am now the most powerful sorceress in the world!" Magica gave a triumphant smile before she cast a powerful spell that ended up paralyzing all of her enemies. "With my newfound powers I can finally bring an end to all of you, starting with you, Lena."
As Magica aimed her staff towards her, Lena made futile attempts to break free of her paralysis. Lena took one look at Webby, who had tears running down her eyes. It was clear that Webby wasn't completely under the effects of the paralysis since she desperately tried reaching her hand out for Lena. Lena did the same thing as she tried to hold on to Webby's hand. The moment Webby and Lena held each others hand, their friendship bracelets began to glow. This caused Magica to be knocked back by a blue light, she recovered to find Lena back in her super sorceress form.
"Wh-What? How is this possible?" Magica asked, shocked by what she was seeing. "I already took your powers!"
Lena shook her head. "You're wrong, Aunt Magica! Webby and I love each other. As long as Webby and I are together, we will always have a power that not even you could take away!"
"Oh, don't make me sick! I still have more than enough power to destroy you! Now, die already!"
Desperate to destroy Lena, Magica fired as many spells as she could. However, Lena blasted her own spells towards Magica. Despite Magica's best efforts, Lena easily overpowered Magica's spells before sending her flying towards a nearby wall.
Once she recovered, Magica realized that her staff reverted back to its normal purple aura, indicating that she lost the powers she stole from Lena. This freed everyone from their paralysis. Now that she was free, Webby ran over to Lena before hugging her tightly.
"Lena, you did it! You defeated Magica! I missed you so much!" Webby smiled.
"I missed you too, Pink!" Lena smiled back. "Webby, I-"
Before Lena could say anything else, she noticed tiny pebbles falling from the ceiling to realize that Magica's lair was collapsing, due to the intense fight with Magica. It was at that moment when Magica got back up as she realized what was going on.
"Don't think that this isn't over, Lena! Someday, I will have my revenge! This won't be the last you hear of Magica De Spell!" Once she said that, Magica disappeared in a puff a smoke as she escaped from Mount Vesuvius.
"We have to get out of here! This place could collapse at any minute!" Scrooge explained!
Everyone nodded in agreement before they followed Scrooge outside. The moment they left Magica's lair, a bunch of boulders started to fall. If that wasn't bad enough, Mount Vesuvius began to erupt as lava flowed from the volcano. With no time to lose, Lena and her friends ran as fast as they could as the lava started to catch up with them.
Just when they thought that they couldn't run anymore, they looked up to see the Sunchaser in the sky. The plane landed right in front of them before they got in. Once they were inside the plane, Launchpad turned around to greet everyone.
"Hey, guys! You're not going to believe what I went through to get the Sunchaser to fly again. It wasn't exactly easy to find spare plane parts in the middle of nowhere." As Launchpad continued to talk, the lava got closer.
"Launchpad! Just get us out of here already!" Scrooge yelled.
"Sure thing, Mr. McD!" Launchpad grabbed the controls.
The propellers began to spin before the Sunchaser took off into the sky. Everyone looked back as they saw Mount Vesuvius disappear in the distance. With a sigh of relief, Webby turned to her friends.
"Thanks for saving me, guys!" Webby smiled before she embraced her friends in a group hug.
"If there's anyone you should thank, then thank Lena!" Dewey spoke up. "She was worried about you this whole time!"
Webby turned to Lena. "You were worried about me?"
"Uh, yeah." Lena began to blush. "How could I not be! I care about you, Pink."
"Aww! That is so sweet!"
With a smile, Webby gave Lena a hug. Despite feeling slightly embarrassed with Webby hugging her in front of everyone, Lena gave a slight smile before hugging Webby back. With their adventure over, Launchpad flew the Sunchaser back to Duckburg.
