After a long and simple reading class, the gang began to understand human writing. Now, on a new day in town, the gang was at the house of Belle reading some books. Of course, they were books Belle picked out so they could keep learning and when someone found a word they couldn't read, they would ask Belle for help.
"I have to hand it to you, Belle. Reading books is fascinating." said Littlefoot as he read a book.
"I know. How are you guys liking the books I gave you?" asked Belle.
"I have to admit. Not bad at all." said Cera reading another book.
"Me never have imagined this kind of story. It better than those of grandfather of Littlefoot. Eh... No offense." said Petrie.
"That's all right, Petrie. I think so too." said Littlefoot.
Ducky looked away from her book to see how her brother was doing. "Ah. Spike, don't eat your book!" shouted Ducky stopping her brother who was chewing a piece of a page from his book, but he let go at his sister's scolding.
"Thank you for teaching us to read, Belle." said Chomper.
"Yeah, now we know something we didn't know before." said Ruby.
"You're welcome, guys. It makes me so happy to read along with you." said Belle glad to have someone to have a good time with.
"Us too." said Littlefoot with a smile that Belle returned.
Neither of them knew that, outside the house, there were a couple of people watching the house from behind a branch that someone pushed aside.
"Heh! Oh boy! Belle's gonna get the surprise of her life, huh, Gaston?" asked Lefou.
"Yep. This is her lucky day!" said Gaston before letting go of the branch that ended up hitting Lefou's face. Gaston came to a corner where there were people, food and decorations for a wedding. He let out a throat clearing to get everyone's attention. "I'd like to thank you all for coming to my wedding. But first, I better go in there and… propose to the girl!"
Gaston laughed at that along with the rest of the men present as the bimbettes burst into tears.
"Now, you Lefou." began Gaston pointing to Lefou and lifting him by the collar of his shirt. "When Belle and I come out that door…"
"Oh I know, I know! I strike up the band!" said Lefou breaking free from Gaston's grip and leading the band.
Immediately, Gaston hit him with a baritone, covering his head.
"Not yet!" said Gaston causing the band to stop.
"Sorry!" said Lefou sticking his lips out through the mouthpiece of the baritone.
Belle and the others continued to enjoy their reading time until someone knocked on the door. Belle put down her book and got up to answer the knock. She grabbed a viewing device with which she looked on the other side of the door. Only to see Gaston, making her moan.
"Guys, you'd better hide." said Belle in a low voice so Gaston wouldn't hear.
"Why, who called?" asked Littlefoot.
"Gaston." replied Belle.
"Who is him?" asked Ducky.
"It is someone who should not see you." said Belle.
"Why?" asked Chomper.
"Because he is a hunter and if he sees you, it is possible that he will come after you to hunt." said Belle being straight with them on this subject.
"Hunt?!" exclaimed Petrie before hugging Littlefoot's neck as he chattered his teeth in fear.
"Well, he doesn't scare me. Show him in, I'll show him who I am." said Cera climbing down from her chair.
"Cera, no. We mustn't get Belle in trouble." said Littlefoot backing her up.
"He's right. We'd better hide." said Ruby.
Despite Cera's complaints, the gang went into the next room, hiding in plain sight. Once she saw that the coast was clear, Belle opened the door, hoping to get rid of him quickly.
"Gaston, what a pleasant… surprise. " said Belle backing away as Gaston was advancing towards her.
"Isn't it though? I'm just full of surprises. You know, Belle. There's not a girl in town who wouldn't love to be in your shoes. This is the day…" began Gaston before stopping in front of a mirror where he looked at himself and cleaned his teeth with his tongue. "This is the day your dreams come true. "
From the other room, the gang was watching the conversation the two were having and, even if they had seen little of Gaston, they could tell he wasn't a good person.
"What do you know about my dreams, Gaston?" asked Belle.
"Plenty. Here, picture this." began Gaston before sitting down and resting his muddy feet on the book of Belle, which annoyed the gang. "A rustic hunting lodge, my latest kill roasting on the fire." continued Gaston as he kicked off his boots with his feet. "And my little wife, massaging my feet, while the little ones play with the dogs."
Belle was more focused on Gaston's bare feet and held her nose because of the smell. Littlefoot didn't like how that man was talking to Belle. She was a good person; she didn't deserve to be next to someone who only thought of her that way. If it weren't for her asking them to hide, he would have come out and told him a thing or two.
"We'll have six or seven." said Gaston getting up and standing next to her, as she smiled falsely.
"Dogs?" asked Belle.
"No, Belle! Strapping boys, like me!" said Gaston.
"Imagine that." said Belle picking up her book, cleaning it and going to put it away on the shelf.
"And do you know who that wife will be?" asked Gaston rhetorically.
"Let me think." said Belle, for it was clear to her what the answer was.
"You, Belle!" said Gaston backing her into a corner.
The gang got even more upset when they heard that, but the most upset were Littlefoot and Cera.
Belle escaped past Gaston's arms. "Gaston, I'm speechless." said Belle backing up to the door, as Gaston approached her, knocking over the chair that was in his way. "I really don't know what to say."
"Say you'll marry me." said Gaston leaning his hands on the door, backing her into a corner.
"I'm very sorry, Gaston, but…" began Belle bringing her hand to the doorknob as Gaston tried to kiss her. "I just don't deserve you." she said before opening the door and ducking quickly, causing Gaston to fall out of the house and into the mud.
The band began to play the music believing it was the signal. Belle threw Gaston's boots outside the house and slammed the door shut. Lefou was leading the band merrily until he looked behind him to see Gaston in the mud. After stopping the band, he turned to see him.
At first a pig's head peeked out, but later, Gaston's head popped out of the mud, with the pig on his head. Gaston tilts his head back, causing the pig to slide down his back into the mud.
"So, how'd it go?" asked Lefou lifting up a couple of locks that were covering Gaston's face with the baton.
Gaston grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and lifted him to his full height as he shot him a withering glare.
"I'll have Belle for my wife, make no mistake about that!" said Gaston angrily before throwing Lefou into the mud.
"Touchy!" said Lefou to the pig who grunted in agreement.
Gaston walked away dejected and furious as he wiped some of the mud off his face.
Meanwhile, Belle stood in the doorway waiting for the moment to come out. Seeing the coast clear, the gang decided to come out of hiding.
"Well done, Belle. You've set his straight." said Cera with a smile and congratulating her.
"Yep, yep, yep. That man is very mean." said Ducky along with a nod from Spike.
"I'm glad you told him 'no'." said Littlefoot.
"Of course I was going to say 'no.' He may be the cutest guy in town, but he's certainly the most self-important, rude and conceited." said Belle crossing her arms.
"And you're not wrong." said Chomper.
"Do you think he's gone?" asked Ruby.
Belle looked again through the display device to see if no one was there. Seeing nothing through the device, she opened the door a little. Just enough that Petrie could fly through and landed on the stone railing.
"Is he gone?" asked Belle.
Petrie looked around for any sign of humans present.
"Me not see other humans around." said Petrie.
Hearing the flyer's report, Belle and the others left the house. As they walked, Belle picked up a wooden bucket next to Petrie.
"Can you imagine? He asked me to marry him! Me, the wife of that boorish, brainless…" said Belle as she poured the birdseed from the bucket onto the chickens as she walked toward the barnyard, with the gang following her.
"Say yes, girl. Say yes." said Cera.
Belle
Madame Gaston, can't you just see it?
Madame Gaston, his little wife.
No, sir! Not me, I guarantee it.
I want much more than this provincial life…
I want adventure in the great wide somewhere,
I want it more than I can tell.
And for once it might be grand…
To have someone understand…
I want so much more than they've got planned…
The gang gathered around her.
"It's a great dream, Belle." said Littlefoot.
"Thank you, Littlefoot." said Belle stroking the longneck's head.
"You know? We've had a lot of adventures." said Littlefoot.
"Really?" asked Belle a little surprised.
"Yes and we can tell you all about them." said Chomper.
"After all, you are our friend. Yep, yep, yep." said Ducky along with a nod from Spike.
Belle was surprised yet happy to hear that someone considered her their friend, even though they had only met since yesterday.
"Thanks, guys." said Belle with a smile.
"Who knows. Maybe someday, you'll have your own adventure to tell us about." said Ruby.
Just then, the whinny of a horse caught their attention. They looked behind them to see Phillipe galloping toward them as he continued to pull the cart.
"Phillipe! What are you doing here? Where's…?" asked Belle getting up and stopping the horse, discovering that the rider was missing. "Where's Papa? Where is he, Phillipe? What happened?"
"Who is him?" asked Ducky.
"That's Phillipe. He was riding with my father when he left." said Belle looking worried.
"And where is your father?" asked Ruby.
"That's the thing. He's not here. Phillipe, we have to find him, you have to take me to him!" said Belle as she released the horse from the grip of the cart.
"We're coming with you." said Littlefoot.
"No. It's better if you stay here. It might be dangerous." said Belle.
"Dangerous? Ha. I laugh in the face of danger. Hahahahaha." said Cera.
"Me not see it funny." said Petrie.
"We're going with you and you won't be able to stop us." said Littlefoot.
"After all, friends help each other." said Chomper.
Belle was about to refuse until she saw the determination on the dinosaurs' faces. Part of her was worried about what might happen during the trip, but another part of her was glad to have friends like them.
"Okay, but be careful. We don't know where we're going." said Belle.
