During the month that Robert had been away a few things had happened. The most important one in Elmer's case [aside from feeling like he was able to breathe again] was the fact he'd gotten his new suit. It had taken two weeks for them to design the suit. This was fairly standard. It was not a particularly special suit, it didn't do anything magical not was it made of any particularly exciting fabric. If anything it was probably best described as 'James bond, but without the gadgets', but it was Elmer's and he loved it.
Bugs had accompanied him to the fitting. Fritz may have convinced the higher-up's to design and create it, but they certainly weren't going to allow the toon to prance about their office trying clothes on. No, they'd send it to Fairy Godmothers Fashion Boutique instead.
'You know, you don't have to come with me.' Elmer had muttered as he and Bugs edged their way through Toontown's crowded streets.
"I know!" Bugs said, cheerfully. Elmer exaggeratedly rolled his eyes and walked faster in an attempt to get away from him. Bugs simply widened his stride. Elmer growled. The bunny was certainly living up to his name today.
Bugs gave his 'boyfriend' a side wards look. It was obvious to anyone with a brain cell that Elmer was having one of his 'grumpy days', where all he wanted to do was shut the world away. Unfortunately for the human-toon, this was the day his fitting was, which made his preferred plan impossible.
"You'll feel better when you get the suit on." Bugs said, in what he hoped was an encouraging manner.
"Huh." Was all the love of his life had to say on the matter. Bugs gave up and the two walked in silence.
Of course Bugs had been right. Elmer did feel better when he had the suit on. The fabric felt nice on his skin and it made him look almost...good-looking. A fact he soon confirmed with Bugs. "How do I look?" He asked.
Bugs stopped talking to the shop assistant and looked at his new partner before doing an exaggerated double-take. "Oi almost didn't recognise ya. Ya actually look good!" There was a beat while Bugs's face took on a 'That-sounded-better-in-my-head' look.
Elmer folded his arms. "Thanks." He said, sarcastically.
Bugs waved a hand dismissively, while walking over to him. "Eh...ya know what I mean." He gave the hunter a smile and a hug. "Ya look great." he said, sincerely.
Elmer smiled back and linked arms with the rabbit.

Elmer first wore the suit on the Monday, unable to wait any longer. Everyone noticed - mainly because it was impossible not to notice - and everyone complemented him on it. [Mainly because they knew they were expected to]
At the end of the day Elmer told Bugs he was going to wear it once every week from now on. Bugs nodded and said that was fine.
It was just Elmer's luck that the day Robert came back was the day he was wearing the suit. The hunter hadn't even realised it was the day the intern was due back until he saw him. He and Bugs had been walking down the corridor when they heard Daffy saying, urgently.
"You'll definitely take it straight to Avery, right?"
"Of course." Elmer heard Robert say, soothingly.
"And you'll tell him he needsth to read it immediately."
"Yes, Daffy, I will."
"Robert!" Bugs waved. "You're back!"
The rabbit always had a knack for stating the obvious.
Daffy immediately went on the defensive and started arguing with Bugs, accusing him of 'butting in' and 'stealing his time'.
While Bugs stood there and took Daffy's abuse - occasionally giving sarcastic remarks back - Robert walked over to Elmer. If he noticed the hunter tense up he didn't say anything.
"Nice to be back." he said, in amusement.
Elmer nodded.
Robert looked down at the hunter and smiled. "Is that your new suit?" He asked, politely.
Elmer nodded.
"Looks good." Robert said, brightly. "Kind of makes you look like a bald version of James Bond, you know? Hey, maybe they'll do a sketch? Double O Fudd? Whaddya think?"
Elmer laughed. He couldn't help it. It was exactly the sort of things Warner Bros would come up with. "You've been wowking hewe to long." He said, with a giggle.
Robert gave a small, amused shrug. Then -after a quick glance at the still-bickering Bugs and Daffy - he looked down appreciatively at the hunter, in the sort of way someone might peruse a fine wine menu. "You know." He said, thoughtfully. "I DO like that suit. It suits you. Really shows off your..." His eyes flicked downwards, much lower than socially comfortable. "...assets."
Elmer shuddered as the urge to throw up hit him. The young toon waster no time in speed-walking over to Bugs and grabbing his arm. "We'we going." He said, abruptly while dragging him down the corridor.
Bugs was surprised to say the least. "Eh...what's up, Doc?"
"We just need to go-"
"-Oi was in da middle of a debate wit' Daffy!"
"-You can debate with Daffy anytime!"
Bugs pulled his arm free. "What is up with ya?" He asked, in concern. "Ya acting looney! An' not in da good way!"
Elmer threw his arms in the air. "Fine! Stay here then!" He snapped before storming off. He made it to the bottom of the stairs before bursting into tears.
