A/N: I'm sorry it has been so long. Teaching this year is twice the work it would be any year. Its been very busying. But I have part five completed and a good portion of 6 done. This has a lot of the moments I have been most excited to write lol. I apologize for any typos. Ive tried to check, but there is no beta and I just want to post this. I'm more about getting the idea out.
Part 5
The evening cleanup was quick and quiet. The conversations were near to none. There were plenty of awkward stares from everyone. Tokoyami just kept his eyes on the floor. Now, Tokoyami sat in Koda's room, holding a very soft rabbit while Koda rearranged the cage.
"I am amazed at how well this rabbit sits," Tokoyami muttered.
"She remembers you. So she likes you," Koda said.
"I'm glad another being gets to have more of a memory of myself than I do." Tokoyami sighed. "How cruel it is, not be forgotten, but to have forgotten."
"Ooh, nice one Tokoyami," Koda said.
"Nice what?"
"Nice phrase. I'm writing that down." Koda pulled out a notebook. The cover read Tokoyami Quotes.
"You keep a book of my quotes?" Tokoyami said.
Koda flinched. "Yeah… I guess I never did tell you. It's just that you say such cool lines. I just want to be cool too, so I write down the lines and try to remember them when I need to feel cool."
"That is really, endearing," Tokoyami admitted. "Do you really find me to be that cool?"
Koda nodded his head. "You have always been cool. When we were attacked as first years at USJ, you were the one who kept me calm when we were surrounded by villains. You and Dark shadow took each villain out, as I was chased by them. You really are a cool guy."
Tokoyami smiled. "Thank you, Koda. That is a pleasant thing to hear."
At that moment there was a knock at the door. Koda walked over to find Shoji and Mina standing in the doorway. While Shoji stood strong, Mina stood half hidden, eyes to the ground.
"May we come in?" Shoji asked.
Koda nodded and the pair entered. They approached Tokoyami. Shoji reached behind Mina and nudged her forward. She grasped her hands and bowed. "I'm sorry for the awkward date. I wouldn't have pushed so much forward if I didn't think it was going to work. Please don't be mad at me."
"There is no need to apologize," Tokoyami said. "I am the one who asked for help. I really don't know myself. I can't falter from any genuine attempt, especially one which orchestrated somany people."
"You say that now," Mina said pushing her finger tips together, "but I just wanted to let you know I only set you up with Tsu because I thought it would work."
"I think if you are feeling guilty, I am the wrong person to apologize to," said Tokoyami. "I am unsure how I will feel when I remember everything. You should talk to Tsu. She was uncomfortable as well."
"Yeah." Mina grabbed the back of her neck. "I really didn't consider Tsu's feelings in all of this."
Tokoyami nodded. "Then I think you know where your time is better spent."
Mina nodded and raced out of the room. Shoji sat down beside Tokoyami. "She's worried that you will hold a grudge against her when your memories return."
"Is that something I would do?" Tokoyami asked.
Shoji nodded. "There is a high probability."
"Then that was the gamble she took," Tokoyami said.
Koda nodded and began writing in his notebook. Shoji looked over at Tokoyami. His tentacle mouth smirked as he gestured towards Koda. Tokoyami smirked back. For the first time, sharing a similar thought with a friend.
"Hey, Koda."
"Yes, Tokoyami?"
Tokoyami smiled. "If this notebook has quotes I've said, wouldn't it possibly help me remember something?"
A long tentacle hand grabbed the notebook from Koda. Koda struggled to gol onto it. "No!"
Shoji laughed as he pried the book from Koda's hands. He opened it up, held it to Tokoyami, and smiled as Tokoyami began to read.
"Can't we just read my notes for our midterms?" Koda yelled. But he was ignored as Tokoyami read each page, and questioned the context for each quote.
Tsu sat upstairs in her room at her desk. She was using a wet cloth and her mirror to wipe off the makeup Ochaco and Hagakure had filled her face with. She had already changed out of the cute outfit to a pair of frog pajama pants and a plain green t-shirt. Tonight was strange for Tsu. Her heart was heavy with guilt.
Did she like Tokoyami?
The thought had been haunting her since the date began. She thought about Tokoyami. How his dark brooding nature had always allowed room for friendship and comradery. Like when they first moved into the dorms, he had been kind enough to allow his room to be the spot where she and a few other students could gather and listen to spooky stories. He even told one that scared the entire class. It was a different kind of charisma. She enjoyed that.
Tsu sighed. Maybe she did enjoy spending time with Tokoyami. She definitely was a good pair with him. They fought well together in the class exam. There was something easy about Tokoyami.
Knock! Knock!
"Ribbit." Tsu walked over to the door and opened it up. Outside, the five other girls in class 1-A stood. They each held blankets, bed mats, and pillows. Momo held up a container with tea. "We thought you may want some company."'
Tsu smiled. It was really nice to have friends.
Each girl came in a set up. They all set up where they could sleep on the floor. Momo made a kettle and a matching set of tea cups. Everyone sat in a circle, with their cup of tea in hand.
Mina looked to Tsu. "I'm sorry, Tsu. Tokoyami said you were uncomfortable. I didn't mean to make you feel that way." The other girls nodded. No one wanted teh discomfort.
"It's okay , Mina," said Tsu. "I know you didn't mean any harm."
"I also didn't mean to force you into a relationship with someone you don't like." Mina sighed and stook a sip from her tea.
"I didn't say I didn't like Tokoyami."
The tea that was just in Mina's mouth sputtered out and all across Hagakure.
"What!"
"Mina, ew!" Hagakure shook the tea off. Momo handed her a towel.
"But you walked away!" Mina exclaimed. "Tokoyami was so sad he almost cried!"
"I didn't know he was to tears," Tsu said. "Though, when I think about it, he was pretty upset. He was really disheartened by the effort and work the whole class had put in and yet he had no new memory."
"We thought it was cuz the date went poorly," Jirou said, twirling her earphone jack.
"It was awkward," Tsu admitted, "but it wasn't bad." She blushed and turned from the group. "I even kissed him."
"That is true," Momo said.
"If you kissed him then…" Mina paused. Her fingers moved in the air as she got lost in thought. She gasped when her fingertips hit. "That means you do like Tokoyami!"
Tsu's face flushed. "I'm not sure."
"Your burning cheeks say otherwise," Jirou said with a smile.
"It's not fair to fall for someone who isn't themselves," Tsu said.
Ochaco shook Tsu's shoulders. "This doesn't seem like the beginnings of a crush. I think you've had these feelings for a while."
Momo tapped her chin. "Perhaps this started at the sports festival?"
"Ooh! Or was it during the final exams first year?" Hagakure brought up.
"Uhg, Toru! Don't bring up exams. We have midterms on Monday." Mina buried herself under a blanket.
"Thank God we all started following Momo's studying plan," Jirou said. "I don't know how we would have added in more time to study with those internships."
Momo smiled. "I'm happy to help. I do want to remind you that tomorrow is our last day of intense group studying, followed by movie night in the dorm."
The room sighed. It was Saturday night. Monday would be here soon. Mina pointed to Tsu through the blanket. "Just because we got distracted, doesn't mean we all don't think you are simping for Tokoyami. We will hassle you after Monday."
Everyone laughed. All the girls bunched together to talk about exams before falling asleep.
Tokoyami made his way back to his room not too long after Mina had left Koda's room. He was disheartened. Dark Shadow instinctively wrapped itself around the boy. At first Tokoyami flinched, but slowly relaxed into the quirk.
Dark Shadow purred. "You're getting more comfortable with me!"
Tokoyami chuckled. "I suppose I am."
"I'm glad. I wouldn't want you to be afraid of me forever."
Tokoyami was taken aback by that. "What do you mean by that?
"It's been five days since you have had your memory."
"Has it really only been five days?" Tokoyami asked. "It feels like a lifetime to me."
"You don't remember your lifetime."
Tokoyami sat down on his bed and sighed. "Does this mean you have lost faith in me regaining any memories?"
Dark Shadow nudged Tokoyami's head with its own head. "I didn't mean to make you sad, Fumikage."
"It's fine."
"I can tell you are lying. I know you're not happy.
"How am I supposed to feel if I don't have any memory of quotes my friends could tell me about?"
"I thought those made you laugh."
"It did, but now that I have time to process what we were laughing at, I realize how much of a stranger I am to myself. The person who said those things…. I don't know him. I don't know why he often revels in the dark. It was just strange."
"You will revel."
"Perhaps." Tokoyami lay down on his bed. "I think it is time for sleep."
Dark Shadow nodded. "What are we doing tomorrow?"
"I'm not sure. Everyone is studying. I don't think I will see anyone else. You will be my only company tomorrow."
"Then I will make sure you revel, tomorrow."
Tokoyami chuckled, then lay on his bed. He needed sleep. Dark Shadow turned off the lights, and dove back into Tokoyami.
This sunday marked the first day Tokoyami was truly left alone at school. Normally he had been only alone in his room. Someone was always ready to escort him around the campus. When Tokoyami walked down the stairs for breakfast, there was no one in the common area.
"Today will be a testament to my newly acquired memories," Tokoyami said.
"I can help you get to the cafeteria, too," Dark Shadow said.
"Right." Tokyami walked out of the dorm room.
Campus was quite a daunting experience outside. The long paths seemed to wind in every direction. With Dark Shadow's voice guiding him in his mind, Tokoyami started down the eastern path. It seemed familiar from the times he had walked to the cafeteria with Tsu, Shoji, Koda, or any other classmates. He was still nervous, so he continuously was looking around for signs of familiarity. So far, nothing seemed out of place, but nothing was standing out as correct either.
Bonk!
As Tokoyami fell backwards, Dark Shadow emerged, covering his host's entire body as he collided to the ground. After a moment Dark Shadow sunk back into his host. Tokoyami shook his head and looked up. Across from Tokoyami was a girl who had also fallen on the ground. She was short with brown hair cut in a bob. Her eyes were covered by her bangs.
"Ow! Shroom!" She said, rubbing her head.
A blonde haired boy and a redheaded girl bent down beside her. "Are you alright, Kinoko?" The read haired girl asked.
"Shroom. I'm fine, Kendo," Kinoko said.
The blonde pointed to Tokoyami as he got to his feet. "Think you can take down one of ours, you class 3-A opportunist? Just because Kinoko beat you doesn't mean you can attack her on campus!"
"Monoma, stop that!" Kendo snapped. "You know that's not what happened."
Tokoyami bowed. "I am truly sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going."
"It's okay, Tokoyami," Kinoko said. "I wasn't looking where I was going, either."
Tokoyami stood up, stunned. "I apologize, I do not remember who you are."
Monoma lost balance with shock. "Are you kidding me? Our classes have fought side by side!"
"I didn't mean it as an insult," Tokoyami explained. "I lost my memory while at my internship. I'm honestly very lost and confused. Dark Shadow was going to tell me how to get to the cafeteria, but I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the area. This campus all looks the same."
"You lost your memory?" Kendo asked.
"How did it happen?" Kinoko asked.
"He doesn't remember class 3-A or 3-B," Dark Shadow said popping out of Tokoyami's chest. "He doesn't even remember me!"
"I'm so sorry, Tokoyami," Kendo said.
"Of course you would have had to lose your memory to forget me," Monoma boasted.
Kinoko walked over to Tokoyami and intertwined her arm with his. "We were heading to the cafeteria as well. Why don't you join us?"
Kendo and Monoma exchanged knowing looks. Kendo smirked as she spoke. "Yeah, this will be a great way for our class to show you support as well."
"If it isn't a burden," Tokoyami said. It was nice to see friendly company.
"It's absolutely no burden." Kinoko muzzled her face against Tokoyami's arm. Tokoyami froze, unsure how to respond to the intimate action.
Dark Shadow snickered in his head. A cool sweat dripped down Tokoyami's neck. There was dread and regret already stemming from this moment. He was not sure what would happen.
"You smell like morchella," Kinoko said as she leaned against Tokoyami. They were now at breakfast. Tokoyami had tried to make his leave once they had reached the cafeteria, but the mushroom obsessed girl clung to him and insisted he stayed. Kinoko moved closer to Tokoyami, he became less and less comfortable every bite of his breakfast.
All of class B was very kind. The help, though a bit too forward, was still helpful. Many of the other members snickered at Tokoyami's clearly uncomfortable form. He received glares from one member, who had white hair protruding from his all black face. He blended in so well with the color he was basically a personified black pen.
Kendo tapped Kinoko on the shoulder. "Come with me to the bathroom." Kinoko made a small groan, but agreed. She released Tokoyami and walked away with Kendo.
Tokoyami couldn't help but sigh with relief once the girls were out of ear shot. The black boy moved over beside Tokoyami. "You think you are so clever, don't you?"
Tokoyami had to look around to make sure the boy was talking to him. "Me?" Tokoyami asked as he pointed to himself.
"Don't play dumb! You know we are rivals. Natural opposites! Whatever trick you are playing on Kinoko, you need to stop!"
"I assure you have no trick. I apologize. I do not recognize anyone. I've lost my memory. I did not realize we had a rivalry," said Tokoyami. He bowed. "Forgive me, I don't know who you are."
He growled. "The names Kuroiro!"
"Easy, Kuroiro." A student with a blue headband tried to calm his classmate.
"That's easy for you to say, Awase," Kuroiro snapped. He turned to someone else. "Quit laughing, Tetsutetsu!"
Next to Awase a boy with silver hair and silver lined eyes was covering his mouth. He eventually could hold it in any more. The laughter echoed through the cafeteria.
Awase shook his head. "Come on man."
"I can't help it," Tetsutetsu said between laughs. "Tokoyami is so uncomfortable, and Kuroiro is so jealous of it!" Tetsutetsu fell out of his chair.
"Now your just making a scene," said Awase disapprovingly.
Tokoyami turned to the clearly flustered, Kuroiro. "If you have feelings for Kinoko, why don't you just say that?"
"What's it matter to you if I have feelings for Kinoko?" Kuroiro snapped.
"It doesn't matter to me." Tokoyami pointed over Kuroiro's shoulder. "I do think it would matter to Kinoko."
Kuroiro turned his head an immediately panicked. Kinoko stood, blushing prefusly as Kendos quietly laughed beside her.
"We should leave," Dark Shadow said in Tokoyami's head.
Tokoyami agreed and stood up. "I will leave you to sort out your feelings. Thank you for helping me find my way here." He grabbed his tray and walked to the nearest trash can.
"Smooth," whispered Dark Shadow.
"I hope that was not rude. I am done feeling uncomfortable, however." Tokoyami walked out the first exit he saw. Finding his way back to the forms would be his new challenge.
"It was fine. They are both good for each other, anyways."
"Tokoyami! Wait up."
Tokoyami turned around to see a still snickering Tetsutetsu chasing after him. Tokoyami stopped and waited, and bowed when Tetsutetsu stopped to catch his breath.
"I'm here… to walk… you back," Tetsutetsu panted.
"Thank you," said Tokoyami. "I hope I was not rude back there."
"You kidding me!" Tetsutetsu slapped Tokoyami on the back. "You did what none of us were able to do. We've been dealing with that will they confess won't they confess for the last few years."
"Oh, then wouldn't you want to be there when it resolves?" Tokoyami asked.
"Naw, I will hear about it later. Besides, Kendo sent me away since I couldn't stop laughing. Actually…"
Tetsutetsu pulled out his phone and started texting someone. The phone lit up only a few seconds later. He pumped his fist in the air.
"Awesome! We are meeting up with Kirishima. He says he is doing some training with some others in your class."
Tokoyami tilted his head. "But there are exams tomorrow?"
Tetsutetsu just shook his head. "Man you really have no idea about anything. The morning is the written exam. The afternoon is the physical exam."
"Physical?" Tokoyami thought.
"You're going to fight, too." Said Dark Shadow in his head.
"I didn't expect a physical exam," Tokoyami said in his head.
After a few minutes of walking, Tetsutetsu led Tokoyami to an outdoor arena. Inside was a larger center ring that was about a meter above the ground. Inside the ring were Bakugou and Midoriya. Todoroki and Kirishima stood at the end of the ring cheering the pair on.
Both Bakugou and Midoriya were shaking with exhaustion. All Might, though small, had now hopped into the arena. Both teens stopped fighting as they listened to their mentor share advice.
"Hey! Kirishima!" Tetsutetsu called out.
Kirishima turned to face them his sharp teeth widened. "Tetsutetsu! Tokoyami! Come join us over here!"
As Tokoyami approached the arena, Midoriya's eyes lit up. He waved excitedly. "Hey, Tokoyami! You came out of your room."
"I desired breakfast," Tokoyami explained.
Tetsutetsu laughed and slapped Tokoyami, once again, on the back. Tokoyami's upper half flew forward. "We found him wandering the cafeteria. Man, he has caused quite the stir in class B."
"Really?" Kirishima snickered.
"Yeah. I'll text you. I'm going to get back. I wanna see what he next. Tokoyami, you welcome to stop by and stir up more trouble. Maybe you can humble Montana a bit?"
Tokoyami nodded warily. "Sure."
Tetsutetsu waved before running back to the cafeteria. All Might turned and smiled at Tokoyami, while Midoriya blushed and Bakugou ground his teeth with annoyance.
"You Tokoyami," All Might called, "did you come to train as well?"
"I didn't know you would be training. I thought it was just exams," Tokoyami said.
"Does he even have to take the exams?" Bakugou grumbled.
"We've been debating that," All Might admitted. " The hope was that Tokoyami would have his memory back by now. That doesn't seem to be the case. Diverting from structure and routine wouldn't be good either."
"I see. You teachers are hoping that by putting Tokoyami in a familiar setting, he will regain his memories." Midoriya rested his chin on his hand as he spoke.
"That's partly it," All Might admitted.
"What's the other part?" Todoroki asked,
All Might's face flushed. "There may be a small betting pullon how well Tokoyami will do." His voice became so quiet, barely anyone could make it out. "And a slightly larger bet that Kaminari finally won't be at the bottom of the ranking."
"That's comforting to hear," Kirishima said sarcastically.
Midoriya's eyes lit up. "Tokoyami! You should fight!"
"What!"
Tokoyami was not the only one who was shocked.
"Midoriya, you can't be serious," Todoroki said.
"Deku, you idiot!" Bakugou yelled.
"Young Midoriya, surely you are not serious," said All Might.
"But Tokoyami and Dark Shadow are so strong," Midoriya explained. "And they were natural at fighting. Maybe Tokoyami will start to get his memory back when in a combat situation."
"I don't know if being in danger will help," Said Tokoyami.
"I'll fight Tokoyami," Todoroki volunteered.
"You idiot!" Bakugou yelled. "You'll freeze or burn him before he fights back in this state."
"Kacchan's right. We need someone else to fight." Midoriya looked around teh group.
"I don't like this plan," Dark Shadow thought to Tokoyami. "You may get seriously injured. I'm a lot to handle. I know that."
"I'm really not so-"
Tokoyami was cut off when Midoriya jumped and pointed to Kirishima. "Kirishima, you can fight him. Then all we have to worry about is Tokoyami dodging."
Kirishima punched his fists together. "Yeah! I'm down."
"Also we can keep Todoroki nearby in case Tokoyami loses control of Dark Shadow."
"What does lose control mean?" Tokoyami asked Dark Shadow.
Dark Shadow wined. "It's not good."
"What happens?"
Dark Shadow wines. "I get too excited and stop listening to you."
"And how is that much of a problem?"
"I can get REALLY big and strong. I don't think you know the subconscious hold you have on me now. I'm definitely freer than normal. It's easier to go in and out of you. I don't really have to ask permission. But fights, I get carried away."
Tokoyami sighed. "I guess that's a good idea. I'd hate to accidentally hurt someone. Though I still don't understand how I really would fight."
"I can show you," Midoriya said. He raced over to a tree where a small notebook lay. He picked it up and started rapidly flipping through the pages. "I keep notes on every hero I meet. Because I know so much just about our class I've had to make a whole new notebook just for our class. I have a list of all the moves you've shown us and what they look like."
"That's not creepy," Kirishima muttered.
"Hold on," All Might said, waving his hands in front. "If Tokoyami doesn't remember how to fight then I don't want him to get injured."
"Is he going to be excused, then?" Bakugou asked.
All Might sighed. His shoulders fell. "No, he will have an exam like everyone."
"Including the fighting and rescue portion?"
"Yes but-"
Boom!
Bakugou released an explosion. "Then what is the point of not letting him figure out. Unless you want him to fail."
Almight waved his hands out front of him. "No of course not!"
Bakugou scoffed and turned toward Kirishima. "Shitty Hair! Get on there and let Birdbrain wack at you for a bit."
"That's a great Idea, Kacchan," Midoriya exclaimed. "Kirishima can work on his hardening while Tokoyami figures out how to use Dark Shadow. This may even be a way to trigger his memory back."
Kirishimia smashed his fists together. "I like that thinking. Let's go, Tokoyami."
Glancing around at the others, Tokoyami stepped up to the fighting arena. Perhaps taking on this challenge would bring his memory back. Dark Shadow sprung out his chest, energetically. "This will be fun."
Kirishima positioned himself in front of Tokoyami. He took a step towards Tokoyami. As his foot landed, his skin hardened into layers of scaly rock. Even his eyes had become layered. "Hit me with all you got!"
"Bring it!" Dark Shadow lunged forward and attacked before Tokoyami could figure out what to do. The quirks claws bashed against Kirishimas Skin. Kirishim was moved back slightly, but remained undisturbed from his position.
"Wow, Kirishima is quite strong," Tokoyami said out loud.
"You're supposed to be cheering for me!" Dark Shadow yelled. It grew slightly larger as it attacked again.
Midoriya gulped. "Perhaps this wasn't a good idea."
"Shut up, Deku. This idea is fine," Bakugou snapped back.
"But Tokoyami isn't controlling Dark Shadow at all. In fact Dark Shadow is just attacking at random as fast as it can."
"Shitty Hair can take it," Bakugo said.
"Kirishima is getting a lot out of this," Todoroki pointed out. "That being said, I'm ready to light up to help control Dark Shadow if Tokoyami can't."
"No," said Midoriya. "We have to help Tokoyami remember how to control Dark Shadow."
"I'm still ready with my flame," Todorki said.
Tokoyami continued to stand and watch as his quirk clawed at Kirishima. He was overwhelmed with what to do. Dark Shadow was moving so fast, and growing stronger with Tokoyami's frustration at his own incompetence. He couldn't remember what Midoriya had just shown him. There was something With Tokoyami cloaking himself in Dark Shadow, but why would he want This creature that was so massive surrounding him at the moment? There was another that involved flight, that even when shown, Tokoyami didn't quite understand it.
"Gah!"
Tokoyami heard that gasp. As he stared at Kirishima, he could see Kirishima getting weaker. The intense hardening now eroding away. Dark Shadow continued to swat at his classmate. It's eyes shifted from yellow to red, and a roar came out. This was terrifying. He felt something growing inside him. There was excitment mixed with a warm anger Tokoyami only knew to not call his own. He was feeling something, Dark Shadow's emotions. It was growing larger, feeding off of Tokoyami's reciprocating heartbeat and stature. Tokoyami's surprise at feeling the beast had only sprung to more of a power source. Tokoyami soon realized what it was. Dark Shadow was enjoying winning the fight… and it wanted to fight until there could be no more fight.
"No," Tokoyami said. Dread fell over him.
"Control him, Tokoyami!" Midoriya yelled.
"But how?" Tokoyami thought. Dark Shadow had just flown out of him so easily. This blood thirsty beast was scraping away at Kirishima. It grew more menacing. Tokoyami felt it enjoy when Kirishima said "ouch."
"You can stop it, Tokoyami!" Midoriya yelled out again. "You are the master of your quirk."
Midoriya was right. If Dark Shadow came from within him, he could surely control it. He just needed to find his voice.
"Stop," Tokoyami siad.
Dark Shadow didn't flinch. He continued slashing at Kirishima. The redhead was now on one knee. His shell cracked under the constant pressure of Tokoyami.
"Dark Shadow, stop." Tokoyami siad, voice more solid.
"He's starting to try," All Might said. "Tokoyami has started to try to control Dark Shadow."
Tokoyami took a deep breath. "Dark Shadow, Return!" He yelled.
The creature stopped. It turned towards Tokoyami, and at full speed flew at the host. Before Tokoyami could even consider ducking, Dark Shadow was there, Diving head first into Tokoyami's chest.
The group cheered as Tokoymai stared down at himself in wonder. Was that the sort of command Dark Shadow needed in battle? How would he ever learn to control such a creature if it required that much attention to bring him back from attacks.
Kirishima got back up to his knees. "You're sounding like yourself. Did you remember what to do?"
Tokoyami shook his head. "I can't explain how I knew to call Dark Shadow back. I do know what I felt. What a terrifying amount of anger and frustration a single quirk can hold." He looked back up at Kirishima. "I do not wish to fight again."
"What?"
"You must be out of your mind, Bird brain!" Bakugou yelled. "If that were the exam you would have won!"
"I had no control over that situation," Tokoyami siad. "I think I was just lucky Dark Shadow listened."
"I'll see what I can do for you when it comes to fighting tomorrow," All Might said. "I'm sure we can think of a way to make your exam fit your needs from what I have seen. I'll go discuss this with Nezu now. That means you all need to leave."
"What!"
As Bakugou started arguing with All Might over more training time, Tokoyami hopped down from the arena. Kisishima followed and patted him on the shoulder.
"I'm okay dude," Kirishima tried to reassure.
"I'm glad you are," Tokoyami said. He stared at his hands intensely. "I'm not sure that I am."
Todoroki walked up To Tokoyami and Kirishima, as Midoriya tried to intervene. "What's wrong, Tokoyami?"
"I felt them," Tokoyami said.
"Felt who?" Todoroki asked.
"I felt Dark Shadow. I felt how they felt when fighting."
"Oh." Kirishima and Todoroki exchanged looks.
"I didn't know you could feel him," Kirishima said.
"I'm sorry, Fumikage," Dark Shadow said from inside. "I just got so excited! We were winning!"
"I'd like to go back to the dorm please," Tokoyami siad. Todoroki agreed and started to walk Tokoyami back to the dorm, as Kirishima rushed to Midoriya's aide to calm Bakugou down.
The walk back to the dorm was very quiet. Once the dorm came into sight, Todoroki spoke up. "You can control it. I've seen you control and lose control in much worse circumstances."
"That hardly seems reasonable at this time," Tokoyami said. "I feel like a monster."
"You're not a monster," Todoroki tried to reassure him. "You will have to practice your control more."
Tokoyami nodded his head solemnly. "Indeed."
