Scotty slowly lifted his banging head up off the floor, he could feel something wet trickling down the back of his neck and instantly knew what it was. Despite the blow he had taken to the head, Scotty could remember everything, not like he really wanted to. He really wanted this to be a dream, a very bad dream. Scotty somehow managed to get himself to his feet, even with his head banging and stumbled his way over to the door, only to find that he was locked in. Kyle must have done that, to keep him from escaping. He tugged on the handle, but the door didn't move. It wasn't just locked, it felt as if the whole thing had been welded shut, but Scotty knew that wasn't really the case, it just felt that way due to the lack of strength he had. Scotty knew he had to tell Kirk and the others what had happened, he just hoped they would believe him since they were all under the impression that Kyle was dead. He turned back to face where he once had been laying, trying his best not to look at the small pool of blood which he had left, Scotty didn't want to pass out now. Soon his eyes fell upon his communicator, clearly Kyle had forgotten about it. Trying his best not to fall flat on his face, Scotty shuffled towards his device. He bent down and picked up his communicator, flicking it open slowly as he raised it up to his face. "Engineering to Sick Bay…" Scotty chose to call McCoy first, mainly since he knew Kirk would just completely lose his cool.

Not only that, but the Doctor knew about what had been happening with Lexie, so Scotty saw him as the only person who would actually understand what was going on. "McCoy here, what's up Scotty?" With a groan of pain Scotty answered, "She's gone Leonard… He took her…" "What the hell are you talking about? Who's she?" Scotty really hoped that McCoy would understand what he was saying, but clearly not. It wasn't as if he was talking in riddles, who else would he be referring to. Scotty couldn't help but snivel, out of pain and sadness. He was still beating himself up for allowing Kyle to take Lexie, for the second time. "Scotty, who's gone?" The worry in McCoy's voice was clear, "Lexie… He took Lexie…" Everything was silent, that was until Scotty finally spoke. "Please Leonard, tell Jim. He's got to find her, before he…" Suddenly Scotty cried out in agony, his whole body was hurting. "Scotty where are you?!" "Forget about me Doc, just find Lexie…" Even though Scotty couldn't see McCoy he knew he was most likely rolling his eyes, "Dam it Scotty one thing at a time, where are you? I can tell you're hurt." Scotty went to answer, but he could feel himself blacking out again. He suddenly collapsed to the floor, communicator still in hand and McCoy's voice was screaming from it. "Scotty?! Scotty?!"

McCoy's face was pure white, "Scotty?!" He yelled into his communicator again, but he didn't get a reply. Knowing full well that Scotty was hurt, McCoy grabbed his medical bag off his desk and bolted out of Sick Bay, while he called up to the bridge. "And what do I owe the pleasure for your call Bones." Kirk said cheerfully, "Jim I need you to meet me in Engineering, now!" McCoy could tell that Kirk was about to question why. "Dam it Jim! Just do it, this is urgent! Scotty's been hurt!" It seemed that was all Kirk needed to hear, since he simply answered back 'OK' before cutting off the transmission. McCoy soon came to the doors which led into Engineering, where he was greeted by a very panicked Kirk. "What's going on Bones?" "I'll explain later, for now we need to find Scotty." McCoy replied as they stepped through the doors, it would take too long for them to search the whole deck, thankfully Kirk had an idea. "Computer: Locate Lt. Commander Scott." Kirk ordered the computer, but it didn't come back with the result that he had been hoping for. "Lt. Commander Scott's current location is unknown." McCoy simply rolled his eyes, "How can the bloody thing not know where he is?!" "We can solve that problem later Bones, first we need to find another way to locate him." McCoy tried to think, when an idea came to him. "Keenser!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, it was so loud that Kirk covered his ears.

"Didn't know you could yell that loud Bones?" "I don't need to do it very often Jim, even when you're being a gigantic kid." The two of them didn't need to wait long since Keenser quickly came running, "Keenser, where's Scotty?" Kirk asked. The alien pointed off to his right, "Computer room." He grunted clearly confused as to what was going on, Kirk smiled as he patted the Engineer on the shoulder. "Thanks, come on Bones." Kirk took off running with McCoy following close behind him, at least one of them knew where they were going. They soon came to the room where Keenser had directed them to, but when Kirk tried to open the door it simply didn't move. "It's locked!" Exclaimed Kirk, "What do you mean it's locked?!" Questioned McCoy. Kirk rolled his eyes, he then noticed something sitting on a crate next to McCoy. "Pass me that tool next to you Bones, I'm going to laser through the lock." McCoy didn't bother questioning him, he simply passed his Captain the tool. Kirk quickly began to cut through the lock and soon the door slid open, McCoy didn't waste any time, he bolted into the room and was closely followed by Kirk only to be greeted by the sight of their friend lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood. "Scotty!"

All he could see was white, all he could hear was silence. If he didn't know any better, Scotty would have assumed he was dead. But something in the back of his subconscious mind was telling him that he was still alive, but it didn't answer what was happening. "Hello?" He yelled, but only his echo came back. Nothing like this had ever happened to him before, he had dreams which were slightly similar in a way but nothing that compare to what he was seeing now. As Scotty tried to figure out what the hell was going on, a scene began to form before him. There stood in a pristine uniform with a hand saluting, was Lexie. This wasn't just a scene, this as a memory. This was the first time Scotty met his young friend, it was one memory he would never forget. As he watch the scene morphed into something different, this time it showed Lexie sat near a window with her eyes staring at the music box that was in front of her. Yet again this was another one of Scotty's memories, this was the night that he found Lexie sitting alone after suffering a nightmare.

He remembered this one well, since it was the time that she told him about the death of her parents and brother, it was the night he considered that their bond was first formed. But then, instead of showing what he believe to be the next memory, it skipped ahead to one which Scotty wished to forget. He was being shown the time himself and Lexie had been taken from the Enterprise by Kyle, where he proceeded to try and break Lexie. Sitting helplessly by once was bad enough, but now Scotty felt like he was doing it all over again. Just then someone called out his name, the voice sounded so familiar but Scotty just couldn't put a face to it. Then another voice called his name, yet again it was familiar. "Come on Scotty, open your eyes." It was the first voice again, but this time Scotty could see the person who it belonged to. "Jim?" He muttered, "Dam it Scotty, wake up!" He also knew who that was. "Leonard?" So was this all a dream? If it was then why was his mind showing him these memories, was it trying to tell him something. He could figure that out later, for now he chose to wake himself up.

Slowly fluttering his eyes open, Scotty saw McCoy and Kirk staring intensely at him. "Scotty, you scared us half to death." Stated Kirk, "Sorry Jim… Didn't mean to." His Captain placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know you didn't, I'm just glad to see you're wake." Scotty forced himself to smile as he felt the bed being adjusted, so he was sitting up. "Why does my head hurt?" He asked as he tried to raise a hand to his head, but he just didn't have the strength to. "We were hoping you could tell us." Stated McCoy, "I got clobbered on the back of the head, then I remember someone rummaging through my pockets before they started kicking me." "Scotty, Bones told me you called him and said that Lexie was gone or more pacific that someone took her. What do you mean by that?" That's right, no wonder his mind was showing him memories about Lexie. Scotty's eyes widened quickly, he grabbed a hold of Kirk's arm so tightly it kinda hurt. "Jim, you've got to find her before he…" "Easy now Scotty, calm down. Who took Lexie?" Kirk placed his hand on Scotty's to try and calm him down, the Scotsman took a deep breath. "It was Kyle Jim, he's alive and he took Lexie." Kirk just stared at him, while McCoy just blinked. "You mean, Lexie wasn't hallucinating? She was really seeing Kyle?"

Scotty just nodded, "Wait a minute, Lexie's been hallucinating? Why wasn't I told?" McCoy rolled his eyes. "Not the time Jim." Kirk knew the Doctor was right, he then felt Scotty clutch his arm tighter. "Please Jim, you've got to find her before he…" Scotty couldn't bring himself to say the last part, it took a reassuring hand from McCoy for him to finish what he was saying. "Kyle's going to kill her." "Did you just say he's going to kill her?" Scotty just nodded, tears were slowly forming in his eyes. Once again he pleaded with Kirk to find her, "Don't you worry Scotty, we'll find her and when we do we'll make sure Kyle doesn't come back." Scotty once again forced himself to smile. "Jim can I have a word, outside." Kirk nodded, he patted Scotty gently on the shoulder before following McCoy outside. "What is it Bones?" "This is going to be hard for Scotty to deal with, more than the last time." Kirk tilted his head, "Why?" "Because Lexie told him about seeing Kyle, but Scotty told her that they were nothing more than hallucinations. He's beating himself up, blaming himself for her being taken." Kirk placed a hand on McCoy shoulder. "He's not the only one Bones, I may not have known about these hallucinations but I can honestly say that I would have said the same thing. Now I'm going to go start throwing orders about, take care of Scotty." McCoy nodded as he watched Kirk run down the hall, before he stepped back into the room.

When McCoy entered back into the room, he was greeted by Scotty trying to get out of bed. "And where the hell do you think you're going mister?!" He cried, "I'm going to help find Lexie." Scotty replied as he took a step, but instantly his leg gave out. He would have fallen to the floor if McCoy hadn't caught him, "Dam it Scotty, would ya quit being so bloody stubborn for once." McCoy got his friend back into bed and took a seat next to him. "I can't just lay here Leonard." "Yes you can, you're not going to be any help to Lexie if you can't even walk." McCoy could see tears streaming down Scotty's face, "We'll find her Scotty, we won't let Kyle get away with this. Believe me, he's a dead man when we find him." Scotty nodded. "This is all my fault…" McCoy placed a hand on his, "Don't say that, no one could have seen this coming. Especially you Scotty." But the Scotsman shook his head. "I should have listened to her, I should have believed her about Kyle. The lass was right about knowing when he was near. Some dad figure I am, if I can't even protect the person who calls me it."

McCoy felt terrible, he hated seeing any of his friends cry, but especially Scotty and even more so at this current moment. "Don't say that, you're a great dad figure. No one would have guess that Kyle managed to survive and certainly no one would have guessed he would find his way onto the ship." "But I failed her Leonard… I failed to protect the one person who I consider a kinda daughter… Again." Scotty sobbed loudly, he simply closed his eyes and cried. "I'm sorry Lexie… I'm so so sorry…" He whimpered. Suddenly he felt someone hug him tightly, he knew it was McCoy since no one else was in the room. "You haven't failed Lexie Scotty, you never have. Remember you're the person who's been there to help her through everything, the meeting with her uncle last year, the time Delta was taken and brain washed. It was you the kid came too. You can't sit here feeling sorry for yourself, Lexie needs you to be strong. I bet she's waiting for you to find her, of all the people on this ship I bet she wants you to be the one to save her and you will." Scotty slowly stopped crying as he hugged McCoy back, "Thank you Leonard."
