Chapter 4: Amity Part 2
Remnant, Kingdom of Vale, Amity Colosseum
POV: Team SSSN
Premise: "Sooner or later, everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences."
"3...2...1...BEGIN!" Wiz shouted
As soon as the word is said, Neptune zooms through the enemy team and skids up the mountain behind them.
Sage looks at his teammate in a confused manner, "Neptune what are you doing!?"
Neptune was now standing on a ledge near the top of the formation, yelling down to his friends, "Uh, you know, just gaining the higher ground!"
"On the enemy's side!?" Sun questioned
"Hey, it worked for Ewan MacGregor." Grif muttered from his seat
"They would never expect it!" Neptune retorted
Dew, one of NDGO's members, looked at her team, "He's not wrong."
Team NDGO's leader, Nebula, then gave her first order, "Open fire!"
Team NDGO went forward into their turf as Team SSSN followed them, Sage with his sword raised and Scarlet having ditched his coat. He came upon Octavia Ember emerging out from a nearby arch and tried to slice her with his cutlass. She ducked under the swing and continued sliding away, past the middle of Dew and Sage getting ready to rumble. Sage hefted Pilgrim overhead with both hands and brought it down, only to get knocked back by Dew's spear. He glanced up in time to see the blonde wave her weapon over the sand to create three small twisters that kick up dust in Sage's face. He looked around as they surround him, but doesn't realize the danger until they coalesce into one big tornado that picks him up off the ground. With his weapon torn out of his grip and screaming in panic, he's totally helpless as the winds throw him and his blade out of the arena.
"And Team NDGO has gained the advantage!" Oobleck shouted, while Sage fell to the ground
Octavia slid in front of Sun and Scarlet, who ready themselves to fight her just as she spun her sword around and produced a wave of flame that kicked up dust in their faces. Sun managed to jump out of the cloud just in time to call for help in fighting the redhead.
"Neptune!" he shouted at his frightened teammate
Seeing his leader fall back as Octavia attacked Scarlet again, Neptune leapt down from his position and cocked his gun. Octavia attempted to use another fire attack to blind Neptune, but he simply put on his goggles and fired a bolt at his opponent, who blocked it with her blade right before seeing Sun leap out of nowhere to deliver a neck-snapping kick to her face. Now furious, a scowling Octavia tries to retaliate by bringing her blade down onto the Faunus. But the blow is countered by Sun's Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang in its staff form as he draws the weapon, then spins it all around his body while hitting several parts of hers. He ends it with a jab that knocks Octavia on her back in the sand.
"Oh! Now we're down 3-on-3!" Port announced
"Evening the playing field, smart move." Carolina said from her seat
Sun looked at Neptune fighting with Gwen Darcy as she circled him with her flying knives and Scarlet attempting to go weapon-to-weapon with Dew. She easily dodged a kick then called upon another sandy cyclone to lift Scarlet up, and he revolves around the spiral until it launches him over the shipwreck. It seems like he's about to be eliminated as well, but he extended his arms and managed to dive onto a part of the mast. Noticing this, Nebula and Gwen rushed to pursue him. Scarlet caught the beam and flips himself up, almost losing his balance once the pole was under his feet. He eventually found his balance right when Nebula closed in and launched an arrow with her crossbow at the mast, using it to jump right up to where Scarlet is. She folded up the sides of her weapon into a blade to cross swords with her opponent, the both of them traded blows while ducking and missing, then Scarlet was struck by Nebula's hilt and countered with a kick to the head. Nebula circled the mast and deflected another blow then slammed her blade over Scarlet's and forced him to lean back on the post. Luckily, he managed to get his sword back out from the trap and feign a swing at Nebula's feet before knocking into her with his elbow, causing the NDGO leader to fall into the sand below.
From his position, Scarlet saw Gwen continue to throw her knives at Sun, and he smirks before whipping out his pistol and shooting the hilt guard as a grappling hook to get her by the ankle.
"Gotcha!" he shouted before using the cord to lift Gwen into the air while he slowly came down to the ground, only to land directly beneath her as she attempted to protect her modesty while knives started raining down from her dress. Scarlet quickly adopted a pose that somehow allowed him to miss every single blade that came crashing down into the sand at his feet, which he gave a sigh of relief to. His luck didn't hold however when Dew leapt near Sun, causing the monkey Faunus to find his new improvised weapons in the form of two coconuts he knocked out the palm tree beside him, which he threw at his opponent only to get them knocked right back at him, now spontaneously catching fire as they travel. Sun narrowly missed them both, but Scarlet got one straight to the face, and the other lands in a place that made him squeal in unimaginable pain while dropping his Aura levels into elimination.
"I know the feeling." Grif muttered at Scarlet's unfortunate situation. Remembering when he had to fight Tex in the Freelancer Offsite Storage Facility.
"Nuts!" Sun hissed before dodging a water tornado conjured up by Dew, "Uh, Neptune? Could use a little help, buddy!"
"Uh, you know, uh, it would probably be better if you came over here!" Neptune retorted, trying to come up with excuses for not going into the water, "Yeah, I can guard this... sector! We're in lockdown mode!"
Sun looked around infuriated as Nebula managed to free Gwen, "Dude, I know you're afraid of water, but you gotta-"
He was cut off however, when a blue bolt came right onwards him and hit an advancing Dew into the water.
"There! I helped! Are you happy now!?" Neptune retorted, "Also, I am not afraid of water, and I have no idea what you are talking about!"
Dew then managed to get back up as Nebula and Gwen joined their comrade, lifting their weapons and ready to fight once more.
"NEPTUNE!" Sun shouted him, now getting very annoyed
"Ok, fine!" Neptune hissed, "Just get out of the water!"
Neptune then jumped over to a spot near the coastal line next to Sun, and he unfolded Tri-Hard into its trident form before tip-toeing forwards and, eyes closed, plunges the sparking prongs into the water. The energy surges through the deep until the remaining members of NDGO were electrocuted and sunk to their knees in the water, smoking and defeated with the sound of the buzzer.
As Sun and Neptune chest pumped their victory, the announcers had a few words about the match.
"And with that, Team SSSN has moved to the double rounds." Boomstick announced, "You know what I'd call that victory?"
"Shocking?" Oobleck guessed
"No, badass." Boomstick replied, "That just sounds stupid."
POV Change: Bar
BAck at the bar in Vale, the bartender whistled at the end of Team SSSN's match, "Now that was a match!"
The man at the bar however had a different opinion, "Heh, that was a mess!"
"Come on man, you didn't like them, the Vale kids, or any of the rounds before that?" the bartender questioned, "What fight are you here for?"
The man then looked outside to see an elegant bullhead with ribbons fly towards Beacon Academy, "That one."
He then finished his drink as his view became incredibly dizzy and left dome Lien at the bar, "Happy Vytal Festival!"
POV Change: Amity Colosseum
"Aw, that was so close!" Ruby said from her seat
"Looks like the dorks made it to the second round." added
From the arena, Sun then gave a wink to Blake, who immediately blushed.
"Emphasis on dorks…" she muttered
The team then began leaving the stadium and heading for the shuttle bays back towards the surface, where they reunited with the Reds and Blues.
"Well that that was interesting to say the least." Wash chuckled at Team SSSN's match
"Named after the Roman god of the Ocean, but is afraid of water." Grif muttered, "How fucked up is that?"
Weiss then noticed the same bullhead the man in Vale noticed heading towards Beacon.
"She's here…" she muttered with some strain in her voice
