Rory sat across from Jess trying to absorb everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. She felt like she was in a dream. Yesterday she was in what she thought was a loving relationship. Today she was married to a man she knew almost nothing about.

Neither seemed to know what to say. Finally she broke the silence. "I know I said I was going to stay until Monday, but I really think I should try to get home tonight. I need to get my stuff from the apartment I shared with Logan and it would probably be better if I did that while I knew he was still gone."

Jess leaned forward earnestly. "Do you think he will give you any trouble? I wish I could go with you, but I have some more stops to make in Nevada before I keep going west. Do you have anyone that can help?"

She smiled at the question. "Jess, I have more people than you can imagine that are willing to help me. I'll arrange for my mom and step dad to go with me. Logan is too well bred to cause a scene in front of them. But, I'm sure he won't be home tomorrow. He still has another meeting before he can leave. I doubt he would cancel it because of me. Please don't worry."

He was skeptical, but he was going to have to trust her.

She grabbed her phone and started making the arrangements to get herself home. Jess realized that he didn't know where she was going to land. He knew she had been living near Yale, but he didn't know where she would go after that. He realized there was a lot of basic stuff he didn't know about the woman he had married.

She walked around the suite gathering her belongings as she waited on hold to get her ticket changed. Rory finally was able to speak to an agent and Jess watched as the color drained from her face. She was silent, listening to the person on the other end of the line. She quietly thanked them and hung up. She sank into a chair and sighed.

"Logan canceled my ticket home. Now it's going to cost a fortune to get out of here. I expected to pay a change fee, not the exorbitant price of a last minute ticket across the country. I don't understand why he is being so petty."

"Rory, look at it from his point of view, he feels like you humiliated him in front of the entire nation. He may have cheated on you, but he was always discrete. You had the gall to find someone more well known than him and it made the news. His ego is hurt. Logan strikes me as the type of guy that doesn't like to look stupid."

She nodded in agreement. It was amazing how perceptive Jess was. He could see things that she had missed for years. Then again, he had the benefit of being objective.

"Ok, I'm ready to go. So, I guess I will be seeing you?" she looked up at Jess uncertainly. This was uncharted territory, and she had no idea how to say goodbye to him.

"Do you think I am going to just let you go to the airport and hope you make it home? I'm going to make sure you get a ticket and board safely. And, you're forgetting something pretty important."

She looked at him, wracking her brain. She was certain she had packed all her things. She didn't know what else she needed.

"Rory, we haven't even exchanged phone numbers. I don't know where you are going to be living. We need to share some basic info before you can run away." He went to a leather satchel and pulled out a sheaf of papers. He sat for a moment writing on the papers and then handed them to here. "This is my itinerary. It has all of the hotels I will be at, the locations of my appearances, and I just added my home address and any number you may need to get in touch with me. I want you to be able to call whenever you want."

She was surprised by his transparency. With Logan she had to beg to find out anything about his plans. Jess had just handed her everything he knew he would be doing for the next month. It was a wonderful feeling. She smiled at Jess and thanked him. Then she held out her hand for his phone and put in her cell and her mom's landline.

"I don't have as many ways for you to find me, but these are pretty reliable." She paused, and then told him, "For now I will be living in Stars Hollow, CT. I have some job prospects, but nothing solid yet, so I will be staying with my mom until things change."

He nodded happily. It was easier to let her go knowing that he would be able to make his way back to her. Then his face clouded, "Uh, Rory, one other thing. I don't actually know your last name."

She burst out laughing. "Actually, you don't know my real name at all."

He stared at her in confusion as she continued to giggle. He wanted to be clued in, but for the moment he was happy to see the joy on her face.

She came over to him, held out her hand, and said, "Jess Mariano, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Lorelai Leigh Gilmore."

He took her hand, placed a soft kiss on the back of it, and replied, "Ms. Gilmore, it is an absolute honor to make your acquaintance."
