I sat on my seat, while the Primordial's bickered and chuckled with each other in their own. In all honesty, my seat wasn't too bad. It was a coral/shell seat with bright white streaks like chasms. But regardless I was sitting down, propped up by my elbow, thinking about the upcoming mission as my leg tapped the marble floor anxiously. To say I was daunted would be accurate, very. I had never had nor done anything this big before, the only thing that even came close was the time I met Hades, and even that happened on a simple assassination. Which he was cool with until I told him who it was, apparently Houdini was his son. Which I probably should have guessed, he offered me a deal I could not resist, a favor. So I didn't kill Houdini, I did make him explain some of his techniques, but Hades doesn't have to know about that, neither does Pontus.
Another thing plaguing my mind was Nick, I had no idea where I and her stood. The 'Friend' line seemed to have gotten to her because twice this week I've woken up to shadows creeping towards me, she wasn't in the court yet either.
I was brought back to reality by Pontus entering the wide and grand court, wearing his standard outfit. He quickly grabbed everyone's attention and making them go silent. He sat in his seat staying silent, looking around at the members indescribably. In which time I (productively) zoned out, admiring the throne room. I, of course, had never been to Olympus but I imagined it like a less toned version of ours, the dome of the room was so high we could see the night sky, littered with blinking stars. All the 'marble' wasn't marble, it was some sort of mind material, it's always shifting. Like it had a dark purple background and the dark gold whisps moved with our thoughts. Along the portions of the room were solid gold lines in the floor and ceiling, I don't know what they do, probably just look good. The thrones were set in a 'U' shape most of them harbored a teen, with stunning looks although a few were empty.
Finally, Pontus spoke, "Perseus," My head snapped over to him,
"Yes?" I asked anxiously, the tapping of my foot growing faster.
My vision went dark under a sudden spell of dizziness, then I was in the middle of the room. Pontus turned to the rest of the Primordial, satisfied that he had my attention.
"The Fates attempts to get rid of Perseus, while futile in the past, have recently grown to be an intense matter. Although the Fates have not yet before, I fear that they will soon turn to foul play." He paused taking a deep breath, locking eyes with most everyone before finally settling on me last. After all these years, I still did not know what I felt when I gazed into the endless orbs, it made me tense like I was cramping, making me feel empty inside, like the wind. "Perseus string has been ruled vulnerable, spiraling toward the most recent priority: Stealing his string." His last words echoed off the marble walls, stunning the entire room. Surprisingly, Nyx broke the silence- Wait, when did she get here.
"Are you freaking insane!?" All eyes were on her, and if the other Primordial's face were anything to go off of; They didn't know when she got there either. "Perce could get hurt or worse! W-why would you even risk that, if we make any move on the Fates, they'll cut his damn string!"
From across the room, I could see spittle flying. Pontus fixed her with a deafening look as the shadows stirred dangerously.
"Out," Pontus growled, obviously displeased with her burst of anger. Nyx held his stare for an admirable amount of time, about 3 seconds before dissipating into thin air. Pontus set his face straight, immediately focusing his spiel on me. "Perseus," He sighed. "I am bound by ancient laws, which I set in place, not to leave this realm, or I would do it alone."
I grimaced, "Poor timing, the Great Prophecy is also beginning." Pontus hummed,
"You're going to have to take care of that." He supplied. "Your immortality will be stripped away so you can age, you will have to use your connection to Poseidon to infiltrate Camp Half-Blood as before."
I thought back to the last time I did that. I accidentally burnt down the pavilion and broke several of the campers, just simply broke them. Chances are that they rebuilt though, hopefully.
"This time you can use your real name, this mission is much too long for a fake alias." A knock pattered against the large doors, everybody's head snapped over. Apollo was leaning against the wall with a blinding smile. Waving lightly and winking at the females. Pontus continued, "It'll spit you out with a group of half-bloods on their way to Camp Half-Blood, a Son of Hermes, a Daughter of Zeus, and a Daughter of Athena. Their memories will be altered which means that the acting will be all up to you." I nodded, my heart pounding up by my throat, Apollo looked to me with a reassuring smile, making me feel all that more comfortable. Pontus gestured towards the floor. An intricate set of lines flowing around a thick circle he preemptively took a step back, all too familiar with the ritual. Then all of a sudden the lines began to glow, hissing as sparks flew around them like a buzz saw was cutting it out. When the last line fizzled out, the outline of the circle popped like a balloon and a seemingly endless void filled the space. I stood on the edge of the void, staring down contemplating whether I was ready or not. Pontus walked up, standing next to me, I didn't lookup.
"I'm scared," I whispered. He stayed quiet for a moment staring down as well.
"I know, I am too." He finally murmured, too quiet for the others to hear. "Just come back alive." He hugged me tightly, letting me sink into his embrace. When I released he produced a thick chain in the form of a bracelet. I held out my wrist and he clipped it on and instantly I felt myself shrink down into a younger form probably 11 or 12, and vulnerability flooded my senses. "Some parting words, you're going to play the bad guy, when you get the offer to join Kronos, do it. Not inevitably just so you're liked on both sides. Also when the daughter of Zeus takes her last stand, let her die." He stepped away, leaving me to stew about how I probably would have joined Kronos either way if it weren't for Apollo and Hermes. Aether was the only one who stood up to send me off, I expected as much from my mentor.
"Remember Perce, you have the skills just apply them to the situation." He hugged me tightly, "See you in a bit. Hemera sends her love." He said, implementing his wife. I nodded,
"Thanks, Aether. Hopefully." I replied. Pontus suddenly appeared out of nowhere, making me jump as his callused hand rested on my shoulder, I whipped around to meet his deep blue eyes, clashing with the white of his eyeballs like the crest of the untamed waves, bobbing around the Pacific,
"Perseus," He rumbled, "I almost forgot." He handed me a bronze pen and backed away toward his throne. I stared down at the pen in my hand, I knew had felt its overwhelming aura before, although I couldn't quite place it. Meanwhile, Apollo made his way over, crushing me in a bear hug.
"Apollo." I wheezed, "You can still come to see me." I pointed out after he let me go.
"Hm. Oh yeah. I guess I'll meet you down there." He shrugged. I laughed as he flashed out. Once I calmed down, I stepped to the edge of the circle, hovering one foot over the portal teasingly. I spun around, still, on one foot, I gave a mock salute to everyone, before letting myself fall backward slowly. I closed my eyes, letting the stale air rush past me at high speeds, the empty feeling travel through my gut making me feel free. Then I was staring at the cloudy sky.
A/N: Voila, 3rd Person. Also, the timeliness has been edited slightly so just a fair warning.
Percy snapped awake, he sat up noisily, crunching the dead leaves underneath his sleeping bag. In the early morning, the surrounding trees stood crooked and angled, the wind hissed through the dry branches, and the sky was dark blue. For a moment, Percy laid perfectly still, his heart beating rapidly. Slowly, Percy got up, untangling himself from his sleeping bag and nearly tripping over Annabeth's small, sleeping figure. Her princess blonde curls were tucked into a sloppy ponytail, and her eyes were clenched tightly, a dollop of sweat trailed down her face and her muscles twitched. A slight feeling of concern molded itself to Percy's face before he heard Thalia stirring. He made his way through the brush, doing his best to keep up with the almost frantic pace of his mind. Percy could hear the faint sound of rushing water trickling by. He stumbled into a small space with a stream that cascaded down a maze of boulders. He began fidgeting with a chain on his wrist, making him look like an escaped convict.
Percy sat down with a sigh on the pebbled bank of the stream, letting his feet rest in the trickle of water, he sighed tiredly. Despite him supposedly waking up in the sleeping bag, he had not gotten any sleep for multiple days and now that his immortality was gone, he could feel the effects wearing on his body. As if on queue, trampling in the bushes alerted Percy to someone's presence. Hermes came running out of the brush in a jogger's outfit, stuffing his phone into a pocket and running a hand through his hair.
"George, shut up. And Martha stops teasing him." He gave Percy a ruffled smile, "Hey Perce, how have you been?" He roughly let himself down next to me with a deep sigh.
Percy smirked, "Probably better than you, by the looks of it." He chuckled lightly, the god let out a bark of laughter, elbowing Percy in the ribs.
"Well, either way, I'm sorry for missing your send-off." He gave a mocking salute as Percy had earlier. Percy began to reply but another sound of trampling made its way to Perseus' ears and Hermes' as well. Hermes gave a wink to Perce before flashing away just as Annabeth made her way into the clearing, swinging her arm around Percy lazily, tossing her princess curls over her shoulder. Percy acted amused with the exhausted daughter of Athena, slinging his arm around her as well, he decided to speak first.
"Are the others up yet?" He spoke cautiously, unsure of how to act seeing as he had no memory of their time together, internally cursing Pontus.
Oh. I forgot.
A blur of colors and emotion rushed past his retinas, He saw Luke holding up a 100-dollar bill after bumping into some guy. Annabeth reading a book, talking to him as he struggled to keep up with her. All of them swimming in a large pool of water, splashing each other and laughing pleasantly. A million other memories intruded on his mind, flooding him with feelings of everything, a strange familial sense, and an odd burst of nostalgia, seeing as he had never met these people before.
A pale hand waved in front of his face flashing across his eyes,
"Percy?" Annabeth yawned, "Anybody home?" Perce hummed lightly,
"Uh. Yeah, yeah, I'm here." He replied quickly, although not quite true. Annabeth smiled, struggling to her feet,
"By now they're probably trying to find breakfast," She paused for a moment, shrugging when she spoke again. "Or making out." Percy laughed, getting up with her, but when he stood up something fell out of his pocket and clattered against the stones on the bank. A unique ring, glowed white on the ground, he cocked his head in confusion, he had never seen this item before, slowly and cautiously he bent down and picked it up. He inspected it carefully and thoroughly as if it would bite, but when he saw the golden Caucasus chiseled inside the band, he smiled, a telltale sign of the god Hermes. Slipping it on his finger, he instantaneously felt a burst of agility and speed, his eyes widened slightly.
"Percy? Are you coming?" Annabeth called softly from the tree line.
"Yeah," He replied, thanking Hermes with a smile. He followed Annabeth through the overhead pine trees toward the campsite, laughing and joking about everything. When they reached the campsite it was empty as they had suspected, the bones of the fire had pathetic wisps of smoke trailing into the air and there were no flames. Annabeth sat down on her rolled-up sleeping bag and pulled out a Navy blue Yankee's hat and started pulling at a loose string, she seemed to be lost in thought while Percy looked around suspiciously. He could feel the tense nature in the air littered around the campsite, and it wasn't between him and Annabeth, a pair of fresh tracks led into some nearby bushes and the fire had enough fuel earlier to last it another hour. As he slowly pieced the strange, seemingly coincidences, together he heard a tight and slow sound.
Twang!
He grimaced and put his hands above his head, he had heard the sound of a bow being drawn more than once. A second later he felt something cold and sharp prick the back of his neck, he winced as he felt a droplet cascade down the back of his neck.
"Move." A female voice growled, spinning him around where another group of girls had their bows drawn and aimed lethally toward him. He groaned when a certain pale moon goddess emerged from the crowd in the form of a 13-year-old girl. Her auburn hair was tightly wound in a braid with feathers and ropes woven in, her skin glowed like she took showers in liquid moonlight, and muscles corded her body that wasn't covered by her parka and garb. He could see the resemblance between her and Apollo in their razor-sharp jawline and high cheekbones, speaking of Apollo,
Percy was desperately trying to contact him through their link.
Apollo! He shrieked mentally, Your crazy bitch of a sister is here! He quickly glanced at Artemis who was glaring heavily at him, And she wants blood! Apollo's voice came through yawning,
…Ok. Just give me a few minutes I gotta put the sun top up and start my run.
Percy would have argued his case further if Artemis hadn't decided to speak up at that wonderful moment when his face was contorted awkwardly.
"Boy." She spat calmly, obviously addressing him with narrowed eyes. "What are you doing with these young maidens?" Percy sighed quietly, Percy had also spent his fair share of time with the moon goddess, although both times ended with him having a glowing arrow pierced through his leg.
"Artemis, we are just on our way to Camp Half-Blood." Artemis drew her bow and notched the arrow so close to his nose he had to cross his eyes to watch the point. So maybe he was a little salty about the arrows to the leg.
Artemis snarled, nearly frothing at the mouth from the slight disrespect he showed by calling her 'Artemis'. Luke who had been dragged up next to him and was thrashing against Hunter's grip, froze when he heard Percy utter 'Artemis'. Immediately he tried to stoop down into a bow but was ultimately held up by the Hunters. An outburst among the group of girls quickly followed shouting dirty things in their native languages and curses respectfully, one voice particularly stood out of the crowd.
"You dare disrespect our Lady, filthy Malaka!" Perce scanned the crowd, he had heard the voice before somewhere, it was on the tip of his brain, he remembered the voice but not the face. He could remember the way she felt, the way she tasted, but for everything in the world, he couldn't find the face that was meshed somewhere in the dusty and cobweb-ridden side of his brain. He continued sifting through the faces in the group, looking for some sort of reminder. Then he saw it, the baby blue eyes glaring into his skull, impossibly illuminated through the bodies. A shiver traversed down his spine like a spider, coiling around vertebrae and decompressing his lungs. It was all coming back, all the emotions all the adventures everything flowed Luke an untamed river, shifting dangerously, threatening chaos if it didn't go somewhere. Still, he closed his eyes and sucked in a musty breath, when he opened his eyes again she was gone. The sun began to peek from the edge of the world, making Percy smile gratefully, all he had to do was stall. The angry mob eventually ran out of insults and mocking performances to give so Percy took this time to apologize formally.
"Forgive me, lady Artemis, I mean no disrespect." He said lowering his head in a bow, putting extra emphasis on 'Lady. After a moment Artemis stiffly nodded her head, moving towards Luke at which point Percy began to wonder where Thalia and Annabeth were, no doubt in his mind they were safe. As if on queue, a loud shout echoed from the forest, obviously Thalia's thundering voice and the voice he heard earlier. Everybody's head snapped over to them, and all the present hunters shuffled out of the clearing toward the bushes. Beside him, he saw Artemis mutter something under her breath and shake her head, although he couldn't fully hear the conversation, he caught snippets.
"You dare disrespect Lady Artemis?!" The voice shouted angrily.
"No, I'm disrespecting you!" Thalia replied spunkily, making Percy wince he could practically feel the electricity coming off of her. Thalia began to say something else, but the voice cut her off, lowering her voice harshly.
"Pathetic. Art thou going to spend the rest of thee life being a lapdog to the likes of men?"
Percy didn't know what happened next considering that he was relying on hearing alone, but it was silent for a moment and then a big eruption of growls and screams filled the air followed by a big crash and the sound of flesh hitting flesh. (Don't say it). Artemis groaned and took after her apprentices, leaving Luke and Percy alone and unguarded, for a moment they locked eyes before trudging over to where the moon goddess had entered, not exactly excited to get zapped by bolts of lightning. When Percy pushed through the poison ivy he nearly got barreled over by Zoe flying through the air aiming to tackle Thalia. When she missed and landed she quickly scurried to her feet, pulling out her celestial bronze knife and circling Thalia's electric spear and knockoff Aegeus. Luke instantly went over next to Thalia's side and squared up against Zoe, but Percy instead chose to go sit by Annabeth who was curled up at the edge of the tents, eager to separate Zoe from his mind. He plopped down next to her and produced two chocolate bars from his pockets that hadn't been there before, Houdini was a good teacher, he tried to hand one to her and she shook her head.
"C'mon, everybody likes chocolate." He said, insisting slightly. Her stormy grey eyes met his, surely there was an entire system rapidly moving under those orbs, he thought to himself. She shook her head again,
"Not me." Percy shrugged, ripping the packaging open and taking a bite. He watched Thalia and the supposed Zoe get lectured by Artemis, Thalia didn't seem to be listening by how much she rolled her eyes though, he thought about how crazy it was that Zoe was alive after all this time as he chewed. Once Percy finished his candy bar he stuffed the wrapper in his pocket, turning to Annabeth.
"So what's on your mind, kid?" He asked, cringing internally, to her he was only one year older than her (Percy, 11 – Annabeth, 10). She cocked an eyebrow quizzically,
"Kid? Who're you calling kid?" She asked, amused.
"Sorry." He said sheepishly, "Don't avoid the question."
"Nothing." She said, looking down at her shoes again, her expression settling into a scowl again. He studied her contorted face, and he probably would have said something sarcastic and stupid but Artemis called his name.
"Boy!" She shouted, he got to his feet.
"Yes, milady?" He replied, a thin layer of sarcasm underlying his tone. She narrowed her eyes scanning for disrespect,
"Take the son of Hermes and wait on the other side." He quickly went over and grabbed Luke's arm, leading him through the bushes. He still looked in awe of coming face to face with a goddess, Percy waved a hand in front of his face,
"Luke," He said, "Are you in there?" Percy touched his cheek and Luke still didn't move, Percy snapped his fingers and Luke flinched,
"Uh, yeah. I'm here." Luke stuttered, Percy nodded leaning against a thick tree trunk, keeping the water droplets off him dripping from the branches. He closed his eyes and rested his head up towards the smooth navy-blue sky. He was nearly asleep when Apollo's voice cut in,
Percy, I'm almost there, be ready to run. Percy groaned slightly, he was exhausted, his muscles were twitching uncontrollably, and his arms and legs felt like lead. He pushed off the tree and tapped Luke on the shoulder, leaning down to his ear.
"Watch this," Percy strolled toward the bushes, pushing a clump out of the way and peeking in through the foliage. Thalia and Annabeth stood outside the grand tent where Percy wagered that Artemis was talking to Zoe. Apollo's voice cut in,
3, 2, 1. Blast off.
Percy sprinted into the bushes and wrapped his arm around Annabeth, picking her up from the waist and leading Thalia out. He clamped his hands over their eyes and shut his own, telling Luke to close his. A blinding flash followed immediately afterward, leaving the smell of a campfire and a rapidly fading morning light, he heard a car door shut and two quick chirps.
Chirp, chirp.
Crunching in the dead and now singed leaves followed and finally Apollo's voice was found,
"Little sister, how have you been?" Percy dropped Annabeth and peered through the leaves, Apollo's blinding smile and golden blonde hair were on display as his 17-year-old form leisurely made his way to Artemis' glaring form, stopping only to wink and smile at a few of the Huntresses. He wore a pair of worn-out and a V-neck t-shirt depicting a few very graphic sentences. He wrapped her in a hug looking over her shoulder and meeting Percy's eyes, his wide eyes glancing toward the sun car and back at him. Percy nodded, turning back to the group with a finger over his lips, they all looked at him with confusion, but he ignored it. He led them around the woods where Artemis was arguing with Apollo, they were so loud it was pretty easy to navigate where the edge of the encampment was. Percy marked out the glowing orb as Apollo's chariot, he looked back at them and pointed at the car silently. Annabeth shot him a curious glance as if asking him what he was getting. Luke and Thalia, a bit older with a bit more understanding knew what he was trying to do they both shook their heads vigorously, but Percy grabbed Annabeth's hand gently, for a moment he thought about how soft and warm it was, then he shook his head and led her toward the red Mustang. He tried to pull open the back door, but the handle clicked quietly, and the door didn't budge, a splash of dread exploded all over him. He yanked on the door again a bit rougher this time, once again nothing happened. He paused, a quiet and nervous chuckle escaped his throat, he began to frantically pull on the handle before Annabeth stopped him. She held her hand on his arm and clicked a button on the handle that he had missed, the door popped open with ease afterward when she opened it. He bit his lip, feeling the blush creep up his cheeks and ears, he gestured for her to get in and then ushered Luke and Thalia from the tree line, they eventually came after a couple of seconds and once they had crammed into the backseat Percy scampered in after them, shutting the door behind himself as quietly as he could.
A/N: Percy P.o.V. (Tell me if you guys like 3rd Person or P.o.V. better)
Apollo had come prepared this time in a sort of correct car, I guess he just didn't have it in him to change it out sports mode. Although the seats were made of the finest leather and accented with cotton that made you feel like you weren't even sitting down, the dash and whatnot was gold, obviously, but with carbon fiber lining everything looked clean. I wasn't worried whatsoever about the hunters peering through the glass, Apollo's windows were so tinted they were like brick walls, nothing could see through them. The seats only held 3 people so we were all a bit squished, eventually, I shuffled over the center and slipped into the front passenger seat. I relaxed, letting myself sink into the foam seat, sending a mischievous smirk back to where they were packed like sardines. I popped open the center console, last time I was in here I had left some food and drinks, Apollo's car, or more specifically center console, was enchanted to have infinite space, it was trippy because as you reached down the seemingly shallow compartment it just kept going and elongating your arm. My hand finally clasped around the six-pack of soda, I retrieved my appendage, and my prize, with a grin. They had stopped selling these more than 50 years ago and ever since then I had the sweet vanilla carbonation sizzling on my tongue, I quickly wiped off the dust coating the bottles and swatted off the spiders before Annabeth could shriek and draw attention to us.
"Catch."
Luke lifted his hand and smoothly snatched it out of the air, as he did this I noticed a flash on his wrist, dangling off of the leather bracelet that he wore. It was a silver scythe, and the blade still looked sharp enough to draw blood.
"Kronos," I thought, wondering how long until Luke approached me about the idea. I shook it off and took two more glass bottles to hand to
Annabeth and Thalia respectively, neither one of the young girls wanted it, frowning and shaking their heads disapprovingly. I shrugged without care and clinked bottles with Luke who was happily downing the sweet nectar, I studied the gritty paper that was glued to the bottle and the cartoony bubbles that were hand-drawn perfectly, I popped open the lid and savored the burst of candy air that so quickly evaporated into the air. My lungs emptied as I met my lips around the rim and finally got the liquid bliss of heaven until Luke started chattering. He let out a big belch and sighed contentedly before he tried to strike up a conversation.
"So, uh, Percy." He said, implicating something I sure as hell didn't know.
"Yes?" I drawled, still sipping on the root beer.
"Do you, uh, actually know Apollo?" He asked making a face, possibly jealousy.
"Yeah," I replied, not elaborating any further. "But call him Fred, he likes the name, Fred." I went back to sipping the soda as the car fell into
silence once again. I closed my eyes after I finally finished my delectable drink, as I said earlier, I was exhausted but there was still something keeping me up. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why the girls were so quiet, I ran through all the scenarios but nothing fit, I tried to ignore it and get a good power nap in, but another thing was plaguing my mind. Zoe. I mean, what are the chances that after all this time we meet up during the very beginning of a mission, I never thought I would see her again after stealing the golden apples. Although that thought was interrupted by the opening of a car door. My heart rate accelerated as I thought the hunters had realized our position, but it was just Apollo backing away from the wrath of the huntresses.
"I'll see you, ladies, later, remember, OnlyFans is a thing nowadays." He smirked slyly, causing an up rage between the hunters, he quickly scrambled into the car and shut the door. Begrudgingly I cracked one eye open, Apollo had his hand parked on the shoulder of my seat and was looking back at Luke, Thalia, and Annabeth while he reversed. He was saying the usual, asking their names and getting to know them but suddenly Thalia and Annabeth started to speak up again, making witty remarks, and their cheeks tinted with red that wasn't from the cold.
"Fred, new rule; don't flirt with my people," I said, closing my eyes again.
"Whatever, Perce." He chuckled lightly, his voice like a lullaby to my sleepy ears. He continues talking to Luke and the girls as he shifted into gear and flipped a few switches, a rumble vibrated underneath my seat, turning it into a massage chair. Before I knew it, I was passed out in the passenger seat and we were soaring miles above New York City, the floating feeling in my stomach never leaving. In a clear and obvious display of my rotten luck, I was awoken to the sound of shouts ricocheting around the small vehicle, and an immediate terrifying view of the ground screaming toward us at Mach 2. My head snapped towards Apollo who was slumped in his seat, his neck at an odd angle and his tongue flopping out of his mouth stupidly. I grabbed the wheel and tried to maneuver the car back to the right angle but it wouldn't work because I couldn't get to the gas pedal by Apollo's foot. A thick layer of panic set in at the exact moment another car beside us, identical to ours evened out with us, our hoods practically racing to their doom. What shocked me about this encounter, besides everything about it, was that the guy in the passenger window had a panicked look and raven-colored hair with green eyes that could pierce through anything, it was me. In the back, Luke and Thalia, and Annabeth were also freaking out and less than a football field's length from the ground Apollo woke up as if he had never been asleep. His eyes went wide and he latched onto the wheel as my mental meter stick ticked down.
80 yards. 70 yards. 60 yards.
We started to bottom out as Apollo finally got his foot on the gas and pulled up hard on the steering wheel. Suddenly the transparent doppelgangers that were streaking alongside us flickered in and out of view.
50 yards. 30 yards. 20 yards.
The panicking grew louder as the rest of the group began to flail their arms and grab the seats as if it would help. We were at the point where we were close enough to singe the wet grass, luckily there were no trees nearby or we would have an exceptionally large campfire on our hands and no way to put it out. Apollo gave a strained groan of effort and panted harder, his arms were glistening in sweat and his jaw was clenched so tightly he probably cracked a molar. With only ten yards to go Apollo spoke for the first time,
"Brace!" He yelled, barely managing to get the single word out. I looked back to make sure that my companions were properly braced, with the
reassurance that Thalia and Luke were braced and getting Annabeth into formation. We were still at a 20-degree angle towards the ground and going upwards of nine hundred miles an hour. As we approached the ground our front wheels clipped and instead of smoothly sliding along the grass they caught and immediately flipped us onto our hood and sent us rolling as the engine sputtered and died. We went tumbling through the cabin and yet death wasn't on my mind, the only thing that invaded my mind was that silky smooth flight attendant voice of my imagination.
"In case of a water landing, there are rafts on equipped on the side-"
A particularly vicious barrel roll caught an edge, and we flew into the air. Time slowed down and my root beer bottle levitated by the windshield, I did my best to reach for it, desperately needing a quench for my dry throat, unfortunately, gravity kicked in and the bottle flew down by my feet and my neck got whipped back into my seat. When we finally stopped rolling, we were flipped on the hood of the car. Somehow, we had made it onto the concrete road and were just sliding down the street on our roof, sending sparks everywhere. I was breathing heavily through my nose, trying to control my breathing. Since it was a god's car there were absolutely no scratches or dents anywhere, in fact, the passengers inside had more scratches and dents than the vehicle ironically. I was the first to move, the sun chariot creaking on its side as I gripped the door handle and scraped it along the road. Climbing out of the vehicle I circled the back and opened the door to the side of Annabeth. When I opened the door, I quickly dragged her out, her blonde curly princess hair was matted down with crimson blood and she wasn't moving. I looked around shiftily, searching for Apollo. He was leaning on the side of the car, studying the surrounding area.
"Apollo!" I yelled, beckoning him over. He hustled around the car and bent over Annabeth. He began to mutter something under his breath and pressing his hand to her forehead. The blood began to seep in reverse, soaking into the cut where it originated, and eventually, the skin closed over, and she awoke with a gasp of air. She clutched my arm that was supporting her neck, her eyes panicked and wild.
"Hey, hey. You're good, I got you. I got you." I said, trying to calm her down and get her to breathe. After a minute or two she stood up wobblily on her own, in which time Thalia and Luke exited the car. I finally got to look around, on either side of the lone road were big fields where cows grazed lazily, staring at us, and an electric fence separating us, up ahead there was a large hill leading into a supposed valley. Even after so many years, I recognized exactly where we were, hell, I was there when they founded it. Camp Half-Blood.
A/N: Duh, duh, duh. And I'm back with the 4th installment in the series, who will the rose go to? Zoe? Thalia? Nyx? To be honest, even I don't know, we're both going to be figuring this out, I'm reading this just the same as you. But on a more serious note, who do you think I should pair Percy with? It's pretty much up to the votes I get in the review box, if you think I should do a certain pairing tell me. But please don't just say 'Perzoe' or something like that, explain to me why you think I should write it. The best explanation is probably going to win, be ready for the next chappie which is very interesting, to me at least, a possible bit of Perlia. Also, I thought it made sense to have Percy a bit of a heartbreaker just because his flaw is loyalty, and when that was broken he kind of got broken himself.
I dunno tell me what you think, IJD.
