The orcs and humans were confused at this turn of events. They could have sworn that they just saw a demon but this demon wasn't with the Legion. In fact, the demon was even called by Malfurion as 'brother'. They didn't even get the chance to ask as Malfurion quickly headed into the World Tree itself while the demon just went to the gates and sliced up more undead. What was really surprising is that how easily he dispatched the undead
Illidan was right outside the last line of defense, slicing up both demons and undead while using his free hand to fire chain lightnings as needed, mostly targetted at Fel Bats or Gargoyles. Eventually, the Doom Guards began charging through. Since he was outnumbered, Illidan put out his free hand and another blade appeared, this blade was in the same shape as Illidan's Falchion sword but only about two thirds the length. With both blades, Illidan cut through the Doom Guards with ease. Infernals, Fel Reavers, Abominations and many other more powerful minions. Like with his assault on the Skull of Gul'dan, he received a few injuries but at the same time, his demonic powers enhanced his fighting abilities to an extent
Archimonde had watched the entire battle, all the while intrigued. During the invasion, Archimonde wondered where Illidan was since there was no way that the one who gained the moniker of 'demon hunter' would just sit this one out. He knew that Illidan would go to any lengths to defeat his enemies but this was a whole new level. The Eredar was someone that had millenia of experience and never has he encountered someone this brave, or rather, insane. Now he understood how Illidan defeated Tichondrius. Archimonde wasn't too concerned that Illidan was just stopping wave after wave of attacks but he still knew that he had to act soon on the off chance Illidan actually ends up slaughtering all his minions. Anetheron was killed by him, the second dreadlord of this invasion that was killed by the demon hunter, Winterchill and Kazzak were defeated earlier so that left only Azgalor. At this point, Archimonde had decided to see how powerful Illidan had truly become
It didn't take long for Azgalor to lose his patience. He wanted to kill Illidan himself but many undead and demons just charged through that the choke point could be a death sentence but now, many were dead and the path was clear. Azgalor was firing energy blasts from his spear as he was charging. The first one hit its target but Illidan quickly blocked the rest by summoning a fel shield. Since the demon hunter knew that this was gonna get intense, he jumped and threw both blades at the incoming pit lord. Azgalor merely swatted them aside but at the same time, Illidan rushed at his enemy and landed right on Azgalor's belly armor, shattering it in one hit and inflicting a deep wound. Since the demon hunter now had wings, this also gave his enemies a new target. Azgalor, despite being injured, was too furious to care and grabbed Illidan by his wings and threw him away. The pit lord then quickly turned around and slammed the demon hunter with his tail, completely scarring his left arm, making it bleed fel green blood. Now Illidan was pissed off. Pit lords are huge creatures and thus, they don't have that much mobility, at least when it comes to dodging hits left and right. In exchange, their attacks hit very hard. As Azgalor was preparing another tail attack, Illidan merely sidestepped, causing the huge tail to hit the ground and sent a landslide down the side of the mountain. Not giving the pit lord another chance to attack, Illidan sliced the tail in half
Anyone conscious looked from the edge of a cliff, surprised at how the battle was faring
"We have to help him." Arthas said and readied his hammer
"No, not yet." Tyrande said and surprised everyone with her decision. "Illidan has fought and killed many powerful demons before. I'm not sure how he did it even to this day and he is now far more powerful than he ever was. At this point, I would dare say that only Archimonde in this whole invasion can defeat Illidan." she continued which only furthered the surprise. "If we are to help him, it has to be when Archimonde comes so we should save our strength." she said before looking at the World Tree. "Malfurion should be finished with what he's doing soon and we will need to get Illidan out of there. It won't be long before Archimonde decides to personally join the fight."
Azgalor yelled in pain and fury and he turned around to face his enemy. He saw Illidan cut his severed tail in half once more before throwing the very tip at him, hitting him in the head. This threw off Azgalor for a bit and when he recovered from that hit, one of Illidan's blades was flying through the air. The pit lord barely dodged this but was struck by a massive lightning bolt, making the earlier inflicted wound deeper. The demon hunter then finished the battle by cutting off one end of Azgalor's spear before driving it through his head and firing an eye beam right at it, killing him, for now
Everyone else, including Tyrande, Arthas and Thrall, watched the battle in awe. This 'Illidan' fought a pit lord on his own and won. The latter two also fought a pit lord but they were horribly outmatched and while Azgalor was not as powerful as Mannoroth, his power was still nothing to scoff at and Illidan just defeated him. At this point, Malfurion came back
"It's ready. Tell Illidan to retreat." Malfurion said before noticing that Illidan was standing on top of a dead Azgalor. As soon as he saw what had happened, he was surprised and he was starting to regret the last time they met. Despite everything, Illidan was still himself, someone who opposed the Legion. Before anyone could move, Archimonde suddenly teleported and slammed the demon hunter into the side of the hill
"Impressive, Illidan Stormrage." Archimonde said as after he saw the damage Illidan had done. The Eredar still had a lot of minions to use but they were all lesser minions. All the commanders are now dead, two of them even killed by the demon hunter but it didn't really matter. The only thing standing between Archimonde and the World Tree was Illidan. "I thought that you were a dangerous foe but this is something completely unexpected." he complimented before summoning a dark purple orb. The demon hunter instantly knew what it was, a soul gem, meant to trap souls. "It would be such a waste if someone of your talents doesn't become of service to the Legion." he said and as he was about to trap the demon hunter's soul, he was suddenly attacked
Arthas, Thrall and Tyrande came down and attacked the demon lord. Archimonde was annoyed at this and was about to counter attack but more trees came to life and he was suddenly trapped in vines. He looked up and saw Malfurion trying his best to contain him as his allies and lover get Illidan out of there. The demon lord considered his options and decided it didn't matter if Illidan escaped. He could simply hunt him down later once his business here was done and the hunter would become the hunted
As such, Archimonde, despite all his commanders now dead, ordered the rest of his remaining minions to attack. He was slightly amused that even his own underlings chose not to interfere in Azgalor's battle. It reminded him of his fight against Malorne so long ago where both elves and demons just watched as two powerful beings fought each other. As soon as he arrived right outside the last base, all defenders instantly retreated. The rest of the demons and undead quickly chased after them while Archimonde just shattered the gates to the World Tree. On the way to the Tree itself, he noticed that a lot of wisps have gathered however, they seemed completely harmless and ignored them, thinking that regardless of what happens, he has already won. When Archimonde finally grabbed hold of the Tree, he suddenly felt his energies slowly being sapped. He turned around, readying his magic but it only ended up accelerating the rate he was losing his energies. He quickly realized what was happening, the nearby wisps were sapping it but there was something out of place, how could wisps even do that?
The demon lord then summoned a sword to his hand, intent on slaughtering the wisps but he then saw that multple magical runes appeared on the ground, leading right beneath the World Tree. This was when he realized his mistake, the World Tree isn't a source of power, it merely hides the true source of power, one which Archimonde was all too familiar with, the Well of Eternity. He wasn't even able to harm any of the wisps as when he got close enough to destroy one, it exploded and with his energies being sapped, it actually damaged him. More runic lines soon appeared with him at the center and all the other wisps detonated as well. His energies drained, Archimonde was helpless as his body was completely obliterated
"It's finally over." Thrall sighed a breath of relief as they all retreated to the other side of the mountain
"Even the second war seemed easy compared to this." Vereesa commented and got curious looks from both the humans and orcs. "What? None of the orcs or trolls were as powerful as the demons." she pointed out
An awkward silence took over since she wasn't completely wrong. After a while, Malfurion and Tyrande came down from where the druid used the horn
"Is everyone alright?" Malfurion asked worriedly
"I've seen better days." Arthas said as he saw Cairne, Kael, Jaina and Rhonin were still unconscious along with many more
"Agreed. At least we have won." Sylvanas said, everyone still reeling from their injuries. Malfurion then summoned another rain which helped them
The sound of flapping wings got everyone's attention and they all saw Illidan fly towards them, his left arm scarred but otherwise, he seemed fine
"Illidan? Are you alright?" Tyrande said in worry before noticing that the demon hunter was healed except that it looked like his left arm was bleeding, but it wasn't. The injuries from his battle with Azgalor scarred it. "Wait, how did you recover from the battle that quickly?"
Illidan merely let out a slight laughter. "It's something that demons possess. Whenever a living creature is killed, energy is released into the atmosphere. The amount varies and we demons can absorb those energies to heal ourselves although not by much. With the amount of energy released, it basically healed my body but most of my power is still drained." he answered
"Where have you been anyway?" Tyrande asked suspiciously
"Destroying the Legion's gunships." Illidan answered. Tyrande was in disbelief. They had done nothing but criticize and exile the demon hunter since she released him and he still did something for their sake. "None of you realized how much firepower those gunships possessed. They could have easily turned the tide of this battle. We got lucky that Archimonde wanted to kill you personally otherwise this battle would be lost."
The arch druid just sighed at this revelation. "I just don't understand you, brother." Malfurion said and got all the attention. "You were on the Highborne's side for most of the war ten thousand years ago, you created the second Well of Eternity and became a demon yourself, yet..."
"That's the difference between us, my brother. You believe that you should face your enemies with your own power and that will be enough to stop them just because you're not doing anything wrong." Illidan said with a hint of annoyance and he wasn't exactly wrong. "You say that I've been consumed by power my whole life but that couldn't be further from the truth and you still refuse to see the reality that the Legion is more powerful than you would admit and that they are not ordinary enemies. You saw it yourself when we were almost killed, twice now. I will admit, I was seeking power for most of my life but that was all so I could stand at the level of the demons." he said. His last words left an unanswered question, what does 'level of demons' mean. Illidan did lie a bit about that as his goal wasn't only that
The twin brothers merely looked at each other for the next few minutes while everyone else just observed, wondering if the two would actually go at it. To their surprise and relief, they didn't. They merely nodded at each other in some sort of understanding
"What was that thing you gave me, Illidan? I've never heard of that before." Malfurion eventually asked after realizing that Illidan had no intention of explaining about the level of demons
"It's called the 'Resonance Orb'." the demon hunter answered and merely received curious looks. He considered not revealing what it was especially since outsiders were around him but ultimately, decided it didn't really matter. "As you know, the well was a source of massive pure energy, one that can be manipulated in any way one sees fit, but the problem was that everyone can use it. Because of this, when the first elves discovered it, they used the well's powers to in a way, seal it, effectively ensuring that it only becomes a source of arcane, one that could only be used to enhance one's ability to use it, nothing more. These orbs were created to unlock the well's power, allowing whoever used it to use the well's full power however they want. The one I gave you is the last one." Illidan answered, not bothering to explain what happened to the other two, and everyone listened intently
"Wait, wait wait." Vereesa called out. "Does that include the Sunwell?" she asked, not realizing that the night elves didn't know what the Sunwell was
"Yes." Illidan said simply, surprising the High Elf. "When the war ended, the Well of Eternity was destroyed and the result was most of the world sunk beneath the waves. Before it was destroyed, I saved a few vials of its waters, one of them was stolen by Dath'remar Sunstrider. The waters of that vial is what he used to create your Sunwell."
"How do you even know what the Sunwell is?" Sylvanas asked curiously
Illidan looked at Sylvanas for quite a long while. The answer to the question had something to do with how he became a demon, which he had a guess on how Malfurion and Tyrande would react. The biggest question is if it would really matter. They were not his enemies, not at the moment and he didn't know if it would change sometime in the future. Eventually, he decided that if these people would become his enemies, then so be it. There was still something he had to do and he was not about to let anyone or anything get in his way. "Earlier, you heard that I became a demon. That is true as I was born as a night elf. A few hours ago, I absorbed the powers of an artifact belonging to the Legion and you might be familiar with the name, Sylvanas." he said, surprising the ranger on how he knew her name. "The Skull of Gul'dan." and almost immediately, he surprised the humans, high elves, and orcs as they were well aware of the infamous orc warlock. "When I absorbed his skull, I also inherited his memories along with his powers. Since Gul'dan was using the very same powers the Legion uses, it warped my body to what you see now."
"So, that's how you knew my name." Sylvanas said as she, along with everyone else took in what the demon hunter had just said. They were all torn between impressed that he would do something like that or horrified that he was insane enough to do that
They were all brought out of their thoughts when someone approached them, carrying all of Illidan's weapons. "I brought these from the bottom of the mountain. I believe they're yours, Illidan." the newcomer said
The demon hunter look at the sentinel. He didn't recognize who she was but he was surprised that someone actually went through the trouble to do something for him. "Thank you." he said, surprising the other night elves present as he was never known to ever say those kinds of words. "Who are you?" he asked
"Kor'vas Bloodthorn." the sentinel warrior simply replied, looking somewhat intrigued by the demon hunter as she heard the last end about his story. She was then surprised when Illidan's weapons suddenly vanished. She looked at the demon hunter and realized it was his doing
"That reminds me, Illidan." Tyrande called out and got his attention, who looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Where did you learn to fight like that? I've always wondered how you did that and you even defeated many demons on your own. I can tell, you did not learn to fight the way you do from Lord Ravencrest." she pointed out
Illidan smirked at this. "It's funny. I guess being imprisoned for ten thousand years does make one rusty." he commented, knowing it would irritate Tyrande by dodging the question. Before she could respond, Illidan decided to just spill it out. "From Azshara."
This revelation struck the night elves to their core as this was not what they expected. In fact, it went against everything that they could expect as an answer to that question
"Azshara? As in the ancient Highborne queen?" Tyrande asked in complete surprise. "Since when does she know how to fight?"
The demon hunter let out slight laughter at this. "That's what she wanted you to believe. In fact, out of everyone on the planet, only one of her handmaidens and myself were the only ones who knew who she truly was. Someone who was not only the most powerful mage on the world, but also a very deadly assassin. I will not go into the details. All you need to know is that Azshara was the one who trained me further and into how I fight now. The queen loved to portray herself as a vainglorious attention whore to hide her true, dangerous, nature."
"And you never told us?" Tyrande asked curiously. She could understand not telling Malfurion but she and Illidan didn't really have that much of a falling out until he was imprisoned
"That was what Azshara asked. In exchange for training me in both my magic and fighting, I would not use it until I absolutely need it, just like today." Illidan answered before moving to the edge of the hill they were on. "Just know this brother, Tyrande, whatever I may be, whatever I may become in this world, no matter how much power I gain, I will use it all to destroy this world's enemies." he said before walking to the edge of the cliff and flying away
"Where do you think he's going?" Kor'vas asked as they all watched him leave
Nobody gave an answer as none of them have the slightest clue on what Illidan was gonna do now. Since everything was over, or that they think it's over, they all decided to recover their strength as this battle was the toughest one they've all ever been in
A few hours later, despite still being somewhat injured, the Alliance and Horde were packing up their things
"Are you sure you want to leave this soon?" Malfurion asked
"Yes. We still have to find out what happened to my homeland. We haven't heard anything from my father since we left." Arthas answered and the rest of the Alliance leaders agreed
"We will be leaving as well. With the Legion gone, maybe we can finally regain the peace that the Legion took from us." Thrall added
"We are wid ya, Warchief." Vol'jin said
"At the very least, stay here a few hours. There might be more demons lurking around Ashenvale." Tyrande said before looking at Malfurion who agreed
"I agree. We can at least find any lurking demons and kill them." Shandris added before ralying some Sentinels
"You have our gratitude, Tyrande, Malfurion." Jaina said softly before noticing something. "What's wrong, Arthas?"
They all raised their eyebrows when Arthas was absent minded
"Arthas?" Jaina asked once more as she put her hand on his shoulder
"What?" Arthas asked in confusion. "Oh, I'm just worried about father and Uther. How did they fare during this whole war?"
"We will help you if we can." Thrall offered and surprised them, especially the high elves. "With the Legion gone, I'm hoping that we can finally put our troubled past behind us."
"I really hope your people share your sentiment, Thrall." Sylvanas commented, something that no one expected
"That's surprising coming from you, Sylvanas, considering that the orcs killed your brother." Kael commented
Sylvanas just sighed at this and looked at her sister, who shared her sentiment. "Be that as it may, I just want this fighting to stop. We just lose people on both our sides."
"She's right. Maybe we can finally live in peace." Kael said and extended a hand to Thrall, who shook it. Arthas and Jaina didn't really join in. Despite both of them being the leaders of the humans that went with them, they were a bit too young to remember exactly what they did
"At any rate, I think you should all watch yourselves out there." Malfurion commented and drew everyone's attention
"What do you mean?" Kael asked curiously
"It's Illidan isn't it?" Sylvanas said with narrowed eyes
"Yes. I am worried about what my brother would do out there." Malfurion answered
"Shouldn't you give him some credit? He did buy us the time we need to stop Archimonde." Thrall argued
"That's exactly why we're worried about this. Illidan knows a lot more than what he has revealed earlier and there is no telling what he will do. If Illidan will do something, then I'm sure all of us will get dragged in whether we want to or not." Tyrande reasoned and the others just had made a thoughtful face
"Thank you for the warning and your hospitality." Thrall said eventually. Before the night elf leaders can respond, they suddenly heard someone storming up to them
"Where is he?!" the newcome yelled as she stormed up to Malfurion
"Maiev? Where have you been?" Malfurion asked out of surprise
"Don't ignore my question, Malfurion. Where is the betrayer?" Maiev demanded to know
"He has earned his freedom, Maiev. He was the reason on why we are still standing right now." Tyrande said
"You. You were the one that released him. You killed my Watchers and set the betrayer free." Maiev hissed as she glared at the priestess. She then realized that neither Malfurion nor Tyrande had any intention of helping her. "Fine. I'll find and imprison him myself." she said before storming away
"Maiev, Illidan has atoned for his crimes. He is no longer a threat..." Tyrande said but Maiev already blinked away
Unbeknownst to the two night elven leaders, one of their own observed their conversation with the leader of the Watchers. Midway into their conversation, she decided to split while they were distracted
In the meantime, those nearby were able to hear what they were talking about
"What was that about?" Thrall asked curiously, not sure if he would get an answer
Malfurion just sighed at this. He felt that he had to stop Maiev and for good reason. Illidan had contributed a lot to defeating the Burning Legion this time. "Ten thousand years ago, Illidan nearly killed her brother and she became her warden when he was imprisoned."
"And I let her go without her consent. I can't blame her for the way she acts." Tyrande said in sadness
"The bigger question is why couldn't she see that Illidan had helped us a lot?" Arthas wondered aloud but neither night elves replied to this because they didn't know the answer
In the meantime, Maiev returned to the Barrow Dens where the rest of her wardens waited
"Mistress, what news from Malfurion?" Naisha asked as Maiev entered the prison
"They were of no help." Maiev hissed which surprised the rest of her subordinates. "They didn't tell me where he went. Pack your things. We're hunting down the betrayer." she ordered
"May I come with you?" a voice said from the entrance. All of the wardens readied their weapons and looked where the voice came from and saw someone enter
"Who are you?" Maiev asked this new night elf
"Kor'vas Bloodthorn. I know what Illidan has become and what you can expect to face. I know this because I have seen him myself and he is far beyond what you are capable of doing and if you recklessly chase after him, you will die." Kor'vas answered, not afraid that the other wardens were ready to kill at a moment's notice
"What exactly do you mean by 'far beyond what we are capable of doing'?" another one of the wardens asked
"Illidan has absorbed the energies of an artifact that belonged to the Burning Legion. I am not sure which one but the powers he gained from it was enough for him to overpower a Dreadlord and one of the Pit Lords." Kor'vas answered without hesitation
"If that is true, we will need to be prepared otherwise he will just kill us all." Naisha said and looked at Maiev. "So, what do we do, mistress?"
Maiev narrowed her eyes at this. She did not expect this at all. Illidan was already powerful enough and it took a good amount of effort to imprison him the first time. If he gained enough power to overpower both a dreadlord and a pit lord on his own, then the wardens were in trouble. There were only about forty of them as far as she could tell. She didn't trust Kor'vas at all but her information was most useful. One of her Watchers was able to observe the Battle of Mount Hyjal from afar but the information that Illidan became a demon only confirmed what her warden was able to gather. "And why exactly do you want to come with us?" she asked eventually
"I don't trust him. He wields the power of the Legion so it's only natural that I would want him captured. If he was still himself then I wouldn't mind him loose but him being part demon, who knows what he will do out there." Kor'vas lied, knowing exactly how the wardens would react to it
All the wardens were silent at this, only waiting for Maiev's decision. They were really hoping that Maiev won't make a reckless decision as none of them wanted to die at Illidan's hand
"Naisha, prepare as many poisoned weapons as you can. Kor'vas and I will pick try to pick up Illidan's trail." Maiev ordered and surprised Kor'vas and the rest of her wardens. "Let us see if you know how to track down someone. If you can't do that then you are of no help to us and there would be no point in bringing you along."
"I understand." Kor'vas said. Maiev then left the barrow dens with Kor'vas following her. Kor'vas then led Maiev to Felwood
"There." Kor'vas said, pointing towards a certain spot. "This is where Illidan absorbed the energies of the artifact."
"He couldn't have gotten that far. It hasn't been two days since he was released." Maiev commented and tried to pick up any clues but had no luck
"Should we check the ports? Illidan was exiled by Malfurion but he stayed to help us against the undead and Legion." Kor'vas suggested
"Not bad. Maybe you will be of some help." Maiev said before looking at the direction of the nearest village that would have ships or boats. "That still leaves the question, where would the betrayer be headed."
As the duo were moving through the forests, Kor'vas suddenly pulled Maiev as the warden was distracted thinking. Maiev gave her a glare but realized her mistake as soon as Kor'vas pointed out to some nearby demons
"It hasn't been a day since Archimonde's defeat. We should be careful of any demons still lurking around." Kor'vas said. Maiev nodded in understanding and the two of them soon killed a small group of demons which consisted of Fel Guards and Shivarra
"Die before the Legion." a Fel Guard yelled but the elven girls were able to dispatch them without too much trouble
As they were moving, they soon came across a crashed gunship. "Is this the Legion's?" Maiev asked in surprise
"I would imagine so. None of the orcs, humans or us use these kinds of thing." Kor'vas answered and it didn't take them long to realize who was responsible for the gunship's destruction
The two of them soon arrived at the first fishing village and found it in complete ruins. All the village houses were on fire, corpses were everywhere and corruption could clearly be seen
"There's nothing here." Maiev commented as she observed the deaths around her. "The port of Nendis is just to the north of here. We shall see if the betrayer has picked up a ship from there." she said and led the way
Kor'vas was irritated at how Maiev kept referring to Illidan as 'the betrayer' when she wasn't even there in the battle against Archimonde but she was surprised that Maiev was keeping her along. She silently followed her and the duo snuck behind the trees. This effort proved futile as all the demons in the area have been killed
"They haven't died that long ago. Only about four or five hours on a wild guess." Kor'vas said as she turned over some demon corpses
"It must be Illidan." Maiev commented and quickly rushed towards the port. When they arrived, they saw a ship that had just set sail and they quickly realized who was on board. "Illidan." she said as she glared at the ship and she could swear that Illidan was smirking at her
In the meantime, Illidan went to the port of Nendis, a port which was still occupied by remnants of the invasion. Since it was just a few Fel Guards guarding the path to and the port itself, it didn't take much effort to kill them all. To his surprise, there were still a few ships that were mostly intact with only few damages. He spent the next few hours fixing up the least damaged ship. When he was finished, he set sail to the east, knowing that this wasn't over yet. Right before he got out of sight, he turned around and saw two people standing portside and he was all too familiar with one of them but the other one surprised him. He observed Maiev with a smirk as he knew without a doubt that she would come after him
"All the other ships here are damaged. We'll have to repair them if we hope to chase down Illidan." Kor'vas said
"You're right. Pack your things and meet us here in an hour." Maiev ordered before blinking away
Kor'vas watched the warden go. This was a complication for her as her stuff were at the Sentinel base and it would be suspicious if she would just pack up and leave. So, she decided to just find any fallen Sentinel warrior and take her weapons. She doesn't really have any things. Many night elves don't, not anymore at least
An hour later, the rest of the Watchers arrived at the port of Nendis. Kor'vas was already there waiting for them with her bow, arrows and her swords. As expected, she didn't really have that many belongings to bring. The rest of the Watchers however, brought a lot of poisoned weapons, a cage, some healing herbs and traps. Right before the Watchers could begin their repairs, a war cry was heard
"For the Legion." and more demons came charging
"Damn it. Ready your weapons." Naisha yelled as she drew a sword
The Watchers soon got into combat with this group of demons, which was only a small group. They didn't take long to dispatch their opponents and they only suffered minimal injuries
"There might be more demons lurking about sisters. Send two groups of four to patrol the nearby area. We cannot allow the demons to interrupt us otherwise we might lose the betrayer's trail." Maiev ordered and the Watchers split up with most of them going for repairs while eight of them went to patrol the surroundings. "Naisha, send a few owls and see if you can pick where Illidan might have gone." she suddenly ordered
"Yes, mistress." Naisha said and she, along with a few more watchers, summoned some owls and they had them fly out to the sea. 'Strange. The Legion brought an army of the undead and yet, only demons were lurking about.' she thought to herself as she realized that they haven't encountered a single undead since the battle at Mount Hyjal ended
It took them a little over a day to fix at least three ships and even then they were rushed jobs. They had to make sure of a lot of stuff otherwise they would sink on their chase
Here's the end of the Battle of Mount Hyjal, which means also the end of the prologue arc. This means that the next chapter will officially begin the first part of the story
Now, those resonance orb and about the Well, I just made it all up, the same goes for how it was sealed. There wasn't anything that mentioned something about the well so I thought I would add something as the final WCIII mission seemed too convenient, especially how Archimonde was killed by wisps of all things. That soul gem is also similar to what Thrall used to capture Grom in the final orc mission. I'm not sure what it was called exactly but the concept is the same. I did also change Azshara's background. I think those words kinda fit her since in the Well of Eternity machinima, she was called a very long title which I can't even remember half the words of. I won't leave you confused about this. The part about Illidan and Azshara, along with how he got the moniker 'demon hunter' will be revealed in the next few chapters. Speaking of, I never understood why Illidan was called a demon hunter all because he got the powers of the Legion so I'm going to change that into a moniker or title instead, at least before it becomes an official name for his followers. Since I already revealed a part of Kor'vas' story, you can probably have an idea of what will be included in this chapter
I'm also not sure if Gul'dan was aware that Sylvanas was the ranger general so that part might be wrong but whatever. That part about Maiev agreeing to bring along Kor'vas, well, a deal is a deal
That little speech about Illidan telling Malfurion the Legion are not ordinary enemies, that was actually based from TfT where Tyrande revealed that she chose Malfurion. She said 'raw power is no substitute for true strength' and it might be odd but that was something I based that statement and their differences on
Spoilers. Major lore changes in the next chapters
That's about it for now
