Lost sense of purpose
Chapter Five
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs had found himself once again inside the white tunnel with that damn table he was sitting on again. His mind was in a fog trying to figure out what had happened to him.
He wasn't able to feel anything at the moment. When all of a sudden a female walks up to him to be Jenny Sheppard for the first time to show up.
"Hello, Jethro. I think it's time we finally talk after being killed in the diner in that damn desert. I believe you're going to be suffering once again for a while after making another big mistake of your life with those jackasses on broad the carrier?" she said directly in front of him.
"I don't need to be reminded Jen after all of these years. Why now to be showing up like this Jenny?" he cried out with trying to get up from his chair without success.
"Because you're going to be needing the help now that the doctors will be able to repair the damage to your back and shoulder. Hower the bullet cause damage to the lower spine is going to take time to recover from the trauma."
"I am going to be paralysis with the back?" he responded with a tear falling from his eyes.
"Yes, Jethro as this is going to set you back with your work for NCIS. Even though this is going to have you make that decision to retire," she responded with a hand on his head as part of her emotional response from an angel.
"Jenny, I wanted to tell you years ago that I was truly sorry after hearing it from Ducky that you were dying from a brain tumor. Even Mike Franks didn't have the nerve to tell me after going back to Mexico. I was afraid to tell you that I had been in love with you and just couldn't commit myself further."
"Yeah, I know. However, Shannon and Kelly are alive and well. After being with the Witness Protection Program for 24 years and ten to start a new life." she took a deep breath into her lungs.
"Tell me something did everyone I loved or cared that had died really knew about them?" Gibbs needed to know the truth.
"Yes," she said to have Gibbs angry. And why he needs to fight now with his latest injury.
She disappears to have Gibbs find himself back in the operating as the spine specialist Doctor Brussels age 62 working for the spine department for the past 20 years. Doctor Cyril Taft and Doctor Gilbert were on hand to help out.
It wasn't looking all that good for Special Agent Gibbs even though Doctor Brussels was able to remove the bullet fragment from the lower spine lodge in between. However, there was going to be a lot of swelling and pain once Gibbs wake to indicate that we won't be able to stand or walk for now. Otherwise, the bullet fragment was removed from the shoulder with more muscle done over the years.
Sometime later on board the carrier.
Agent McGee, Torres, and Lt. James Brown arrived with Captain Duane Reads welcomed them with taking them to the crime scene for where Gibbs was shot in the back and shoulder.
Walking inside the gym/track. There were those that were there for when Gibbs was shot. They all claimed that they didn't see anything. But they did say that Gibbs was running when Janey, Kohl, and another member were angry at Gibbs for some reason.
So they decided to speak with the three in Communications, engineering, and the bridge. Neither of the three was saying anything other than the fact that Gibbs/Higgins had broken up crap games with them and others that the captain didn't know about.
"Crewman Kohl do you think that there were others that had them upset at Commander Higgins due to stopping the games?" McGee didn't give it away as to the fact that Higgins aka Gibbs was an NCIS agent.
"Maybe! But I don't know for sure Agent McGee. How is Commander Higgins doing?" he asked as if it was a joke to him.
"Take that god damn smirk off your face or I will wipe it off you?" McGee was angry at the possible suspect.
He shut up with the others around him in Communications. Meanwhile Torres and Brown basically were getting the same story.
They had met up at the breakroom on level H for where Captain Reads had met them for a break and a well-deserved coffee and a sandwich with apple pie.
"So tell me Captain Reads do you happened to know whether there are any secret security cameras in the gym area?" Lt. James Brown was the one to answer the question.
"Come to think of it there is Lt. Brown," he said to have McGee's brow raised liked Mister Spock.
"Let's head back to the security area after a break and then we will be able to find out."

When they saw Sergeant Janey Milly shoot Gibbs in the back and shoulder before running out.
"That's it, gentlemen! I will put out a full alert for the sergeant of his whereabouts." Captain Reads said. When the communications officer gave him a message. "It looks like Gibbs wife Marcie is flying here by helicopter and will be arriving within the hour to be with her husband's recovery if any!" he cried out.
"Where does Sergeant Janey Mills usually hang out when he's not working?" Senior Field Agent had to say to him.
