Don't be shy to write a review or two; if you have ideas that you want to share, let me know. I'd love to get some help and advice to improve the story.

The chapter begins in Masaru's point of view.

Chapter 5: Digital World, Here We Come

After that dip I took in the ocean (Thank you very damn much, Drimogemon!), I managed to swim to a bridge where Agumon was waiting for me.

"Boss, you okay?" Agumon asked concernedly.

"Yeah, I'm fine", I nodded as I climbed onto the bridge. Just as I made it out of the water, I sneezed loudly as a cold breeze blew around my wet body.

"Are you sure…?" Agumon asked hesitantly.

"Yeah", I wiped my nose before I stood up on my feet. "Where's Drimogemon?"

"Right here!"

I looked where Agumon was pointing. Gaomon was pushing Drimogemon toward the harbor. Perfect!

"Talk about teamwork!" I smirked. "They're delivering Drimogemon right to our path!"

"Yeah! Great job, Gaomon, Thomas!" Agumon smiled. "Pepper Breath!"

The fire ball hit Drimogemon in the face who cried in pain and walked back to the main land. Gaomon got pushed aside by the mole's giant drill before it started spinning around.

"What are you two doing?!" Thomas yelled.

"Defeating Drimogemon, what else?!" I shouted.

"We were going to trap him by the water so he doesn't escape, you fool! If he gets back to land, he can get away!"

I blinked my eyes as I realized my mistake. Oops!

"Boss, he's getting away!" Agumon called just as Drimogemon had dug a hole on the ground and escaped to who knew where.

"Damn, that giant mole is a chicken!" I growled as I stared down at the hole.

"Change of plans!" Thomas called as Gaomon joined him. "We must intercept him! Gaomon!"

"Sir, yes, sir!"

Thomas grabbed his Digivice and activated his DigiSoul. "DigiSoul Charge!"

"Gaomon digivolve to…Gaogamon!"

Thomas climbed onto his partner before they ran off, leaving me and Agumon behind.

"Teamwork, my butt!" I growled.

"What do we do now, Boss?" Agumon asked.

I looked down at the hole Drimogemon had made and got an idea. "We can catch up to Drimogemon much faster if we follow him in his own hole."

"Oh… That's a smart idea!" Agumon nodded. "I didn't think of that!"

"See, I can be smart too", I grinned proudly and patted my chest. "Now, let's go!"

Agumon and I jumped down in the hole and slid down until we reached a flat part of the tunnel. We ran as fast as we could after Drimogemon while dodging broken pipes that sprayed both clean water and wastewater. I groaned when I got wet by the nasty wastewater and gagged at the smell. I didn't want to deal with this again!

We soon caught up with Drimogemon who made it outside, but then crawled back to the tunnel, except we blocked his path. I activated my DigiSoul and jumped up.

"Oh no, you don't!" I yelled before I punched Drimogemon in the face.

I put as much strength as possible to punch him out of the tunnel and I did it! Hehe, I've been getting stronger since I joined DATS, that's for sure!

Drimogemon crashed outside where Thomas and Gaogamon were waiting. The blondie got stunned to see me and Agumon. "No way! You chased after him in his own tunnel?!" Thomas exclaimed.

"Yep! And be happy we did it, or else he would've run away!" I retorted before Agumon and I jumped out of the hole while I grabbed my Digivice. "DigiSoul Charge!"

"Agumon digivolve to…GeoGreymon!"

Drimogemon got up on his paws and growled at GeoGreymon before we all heard a weird noise. I looked to my left and spotted a large gate-like thing appear on the concrete.

"What's that?" I asked.

"It's a Digi-Gate!" Thomas gasped in shock.

Drimogemon turned his attention at the Digi-Gate and stared at it. His aggressive behavior quickly changed to a joyful one as he hurried to the gate. "Home… Home!"

Home…? Could it be he wanted to go home?

"Gaogamon, attack Drimogemon immediately!" Thomas shouted. "We can't let him escape!"

Huh?! Wait, didn't Thomas hear Drimogemon saying he wanted to go home?! We should just let him go! We didn't have to devolve him into a Digi-Egg!

"Spiral Blow!"

"GeoGreymon, stop Gaogamon's attack!" I shouted.

"What?!" GeoGreymon rumbled.

"Just do it!" I growled.

GeoGreymon nodded before turning toward Gaogamon. "Mega Burst!"

Drimogemon had stopped on his tracks when he saw Gaogamon's attack coming at him. He then saw GeoGreymon's attack, which made him panic. He crouched down and shielded his head before the two attacks clashed above him.

The two attacks created some kind of visible force between then and caused the attacks to cancel each other out without hurting Drimogemon.

"What are you doing?!" Thomas yelled in surprise.

I ignored him as Drimogemon looked up and saw he was unharmed. "Go!" I shouted to the Digimon. "Hurry and get to the Digi-Gate! Go home!"

Drimogemon looked confused, but then snapped out of it. He hurried to the gate and jumped into it just before it vanished. GeoGreymon and Gaogamon stopped their attacks now that the rogue Digimon was gone.

"Masaru, what did you do?!" Thomas yelled angrily. "You let Drimogemon escape to the Digital World!"

"Hey, he said he wanted to go home!" I argued, feeling angry that I was getting scolded. "He went back on his own! He should no longer be a threat to us, right?!"

"'No longer a threat'?! Masaru, you-", Thomas began before he stopped himself and sighed deeply. "I can't take it anymore. I will no longer be partners with you!"

"Good! I'm sick of working with you anyway!" I retorted.

XXXXXXXXXX – Eve's POV

"What did you just say?!" Father yelled angrily.

Masaru and Agumon flinched by the strict tone as they stood in front of the commander desk. Thomas was glaring daggers at them while Gaomon remained silent and looked on with a nonchalant expression. Yoshino, our Digimon, and I watched in the background as we were worried about the outcome of the Drimogemon case.

"I-I thought it would be best to just let Drimogemon go home when that Digi-Gate appeared, so that's why I told GeoGreymon to stop Gaogamon's attack…", Masaru explained with a low voice. "We're supposed to send the rogue Digimon back to the Digital World, right? That way, we didn't have to turn him back into a Digi-Egg-"

"Quiet!" Father yelled.

Everyone in the main room grew stiff and silent after the outburst. The only thing I could hear was the noise from the computers. No one dared to take a breath.

"Yes, we give leniency to rogue Digimon if we find them harmless and they wish not to hurt humans", Father explained calmly while his aura was burning in anger. "However, if the Digimon loses control and causes havoc, which Drimogemon did, we have no other choice but to devolve them into their Digi-Egg forms."

"We Digimon are just like you humans", Kudamon spoke up. "If we find the human race a threat, we might choose to fight back to destroy you."

"Which is why it was necessary not to let Drimogemon get away!" Thomas hissed angrily. "Who knows what he could be doing in the Digital World right now, all thanks to your naivety, Masaru!"

Masaru looked guilty enough to realize his mistake. Agumon looked worriedly at his partner before getting a defeated glance.

"We're sorry…", Agumon whimpered.

"Now we have to be on the lookout for Drimogemon", Yoshino added as she held Lalamon in her arms. "Who knows what big army he could bring along after spreading the word that we humans are bad people?"

"And we don't know how powerful those Digimon could be", I added. "If Ultimate and Mega Digimon join forces, we could get defeated in the blink of an eye because none of us can digivolve our Digimon into their Ultimate forms yet."

"In other words, we're not properly prepared for an army", Dorumon added.

"Commander! I request permission to use the Digital Dive!" Thomas said determinedly and out of the blue.

"What?!" the majority of us exclaimed in disbelief.

"Thomas, don't tell me you want to use the Digital Dive and go to the Digital World?!" Yoshino said in disbelief.

"Wait, can you transport humans to the Digital World?" Masaru blinked confusedly.

"Commander, if Gaomon and I go to the Digital World and confront Drimogemon before he returns to the Real World, the chances of an invasion will decrease enormously!" Thomas explained.

"Permission denied!" Father exclaimed. "We don't know for a certainty whether the Digital Dive works on humans! And I will not risk one of my teams' lives by sending them to an unknown territory!"

"But, sir-"

"No more arguments! We shall prepare ourselves for a suspected invasion, and no one is allowed to use the Digital Dive! Understood?!"

"Yes, sir!" the rest of us saluted.

Thomas bit his lower lip before he saluted too. "Yes, sir…"

I was getting a bad feeling about his behavior. I just hoped he wouldn't do something foolish and go against Father's orders.

XXXXXXXXXX

I still couldn't shake off the feeling that Thomas might do something reckless, so I decided to return to DATS next night, even though it wasn't my shift. Dorumon and I managed to get some sleep after last night's event, so we had clear heads. I had even brought my special katana with me that was strapped onto my back in a sheath.

"Why do you think Thomas might go against Commander's orders?" Dorumon asked as we walked through the corridors. "He wouldn't be that reckless."

"Yes, but I feel like Thomas has changed since he came back from Austria", I replied. "He wants everything to be perfect… It almost feels like he's forcing himself to act like this."

"Do you think…it might have something to do…with his family?"

"Yes… That father of his… And Relena…", I mumbled as I clenched my hands into fists in frustration. "I just wish…Thomas could talk to me and ease his soul-"

"Hey, open the door right now!"

I snapped my head up when I heard Yoshino's voice. I hurried my steps and saw her pound on the door to the main room with Lalamon next to her. They were on the nightshift, but something was wrong.

"What's going on?" I called as I reached the duo.

"Eve! Dorumon!" Yoshino gaped. "Someone's inside and they locked us out!"

My eyes widened in shock. Don't tell me it was Thomas's doing?!

"Hang on!" I said.

I went to the emergency panel that was outside of the main room and started typing on it to unlock the doors. I picked up a card from my pouch and swiped it on the panel before typing the password for the emergency lock. The red lamp soon switched into green, which meant the doors were unlocked.

"Done!" I nodded.

The automatic doors opened and we rushed inside to see the last light of the activated Digital Dive. The room was empty, which meant whoever had been in here managed to transport himself to the Digital World!

"W-Who was it?!" Yoshino stuttered in shock.

Dorumon smelled the air. "It was Thomas."

I knew it! My sixth sense was right! Thomas went against Father's orders and went to the Digital World!

"This is an emergency", I stated. "We have to call Commander and the others at once."

"R-Right!" Yoshino nodded.

XXXXXXXXXX

It didn't take long before everyone returned to DATS, even Masaru and Agumon since I told Sayuri this was an emergency and her son had to come. After giving Father an update on what happened, he ordered Miki, Megumi, and their PawnChessmon partners to immediately locate Thomas in the Digital World.

"I can't believe Thomas went to the Digital World before me!" Masaru growled softly.

"Wait… You wanted to sneak in and go to the Digital World too?" Lalamon asked.

"Well… Yeah, that was Boss's plan", Agumon nodded.

"Do you even know how the Digital Dive works?" I asked.

"Umm… No", Masaru laughed sheepishly. "I would've just given it a big whoop to start it up. That's how it usually works in the cartoons."

"What cartoons have you been watching?" Dorumon commented.

"Guys, reality check, please!" Yoshino said as she looked frustrated. "Thomas and Gaomon are in the Digital World and we don't know if they're in danger or not!"

"Access to the Digital World… Now!" Miki called.

The main monitors displayed a map layout of the location where Thomas's Digivice got traced. The blue dot was moving, meaning Thomas and Gaomon were heading to who knew where.

"We've located Thomas's Digivice!" Megumi announced.

"Hurry and bring Thomas back immediately!" Father commanded.

"Yes, sir!" Miki and Megumi said simultaneously.

But just seconds after that, the blue dot disappeared from the screen and got replaced by a window that said "SIGNAL LOST".

"Oh no!" Lalamon asked.

"Something must have happened to Thomas and Gaomon", Kudamon commented.

"They might be under attack!" Dorumon cold sweated.

If that was the case, then I couldn't stand around here and roll thumbs. "Commander, I demand to use the Digital Dive!"

"What?" Father said in surprise.

"Eve, don't tell me you're going too?!" Yoshino gaped in disbelief.

"One of our friends is in danger! I refuse to stand here and do nothing while Thomas and Gaomon could get fatally hurt!" I argued.

"Eve, I understand your concern, but we know very little about the Digital World!" Father argued.

"That's why we must take this step and go to the Digital World to learn more!" I retorted. "Thomas made it to the Digital World with the Digital Dive, so the rest of us should be fine too!"

"I agree with Eve, Commander", Masaru spoke up as he stood next to me. "I know it's my fault we're in this mess now and I don't like being teamed up with Thomas, but I don't want anything bad happening to him."

"Me too", Yoshino added as she joined us. "We can't just wait and see whether Thomas and Gaomon are safe or not."

My heart beat in joy that my friends were taking my side. This was also a situation we could no longer ignore. There was a policy we should only use the Digital Dive with Digimon and Digi-Eggs, but now we had to break it to save our friends.

Father was silent for a moment before he exhaled deeply through his nose. "Very well… Eve, Masaru, Yoshino, your mission is to go to the Digital World and bring back Thomas. Do not get sidetracked because you're curious about the Digital World."

I couldn't help but smile when Father told us we could go to the Digital World. "Yes, sir!" all of us saluted.

Yoshino, Masaru, and I called our Digimon partners into our Digivices since there wasn't enough space in the Digital Dive. Miki and Megumi gave us the coordinates we were going to end up in and return to when we found Thomas.

I closed my eyes as the Digital Dive activated and allowed the data to transport me and the others to the unknown world.

XXXXXXXXXX

I opened my eyes and found myself alone in a dark universe. Masaru and Yoshino were nowhere near me.

"Hello?" I called.

My voice echoed in the mysterious universe. Was this the Digital World? No, it couldn't be.

I grabbed my Digivice to check on Dorumon, but, to my horror, I discovered it wasn't strapped onto my belt!

"Dorumon?" I called again. "Where are you? Yoshino? Masaru?!"

Panic was slowly building up within me. Did something go wrong with the Digital Dive? Did I end up in another world?

"N-No…", I mumbled as fear started getting over me and tears collected in my eyes. "No… D-Don't leave me alone…"

"Fret not. You are not alone, Eve."

I turned around and came face to face with a humanoid spirit that sparkled in golden DigiSoul. I couldn't recognize who it was, but for some reason I felt comfortable with him.

"W-Who…are you?" I asked.

"I am a being who lives within you, Eve", the DigiSoul spirit responded as he pointed at my chest.

"W-Within me…?" I stuttered in shock. "But how…?"

"Unfortunately, I cannot tell you everything now", the spirit shook his head. "All I can say is that, you traveling to the Digital World, has awoken me from my deep slumber."

"Slumber…", I repeated before I gasped in realization. "Are you a Digimon?"

"The remains of a Digimon, yes."

The remains? What did he mean by that?

"Time is running out for your friend", the spirit suddenly said before he slowly dissipated. "Hurry…before it is too late."

"Wait! What's your name?!" I called as I felt my spirit fading away.

"Call me… A.H. And do not be afraid; I shall always be with you."

XXXXXXXXXX

I felt a sweet-scented breeze before I opened my eyes and gasped in surprise. The landscape was green and lush with some trees, bushes, and a river close to me. I looked around and saw Masaru and Yoshino were looking around in awe as well.

At the same time, I felt like I was home. Was that because of A.H. who was living within me? Was he getting the nostalgic feelings and I was being affected by them?

"Yes, Eve."

So my encounter with him hadn't been a dream. It was real. Did it mean he was also the key of my forgotten memories?

"Wow… We're in the Digital World!" Masaru exclaimed in awe.

"It looks similar to the Real World, except for some structure in the distance", Yoshino said in her analyzing voice.

"Hey, can you let us out now, please?" Agumon whined from Masaru's Digivice.

"Right! Sorry, forgot about that!" Masaru said sheepishly.

The three of us called out our partners so they could have a look around. There were a few Digimon nearby, but they ignored us and moved on. Some stayed behind, especially curious In-Training Digimon, before they continued their doing.

"So this is what our world looks like…", Lalamon said in awe.

"It's way cooler than I thought it would be", Agumon nodded.

"You mean you've never been in your own world before?" Masaru asked.

"That's right", Dorumon nodded. "The Digimon at DATS got to the Real World in Digi-Egg forms, so we really don't know anything about the world where we came to."

I clapped my hands to get everyone's attention. "We can admire the Digital World later. We must find Thomas and Gaomon before it's too late."

"Right", Yoshino agreed. "We got transported to the area where we lost Thomas's Digivice's signal, meaning we should be close. However, the area is really big. The best idea would be we split up to cover bigger ground. We should put up something as a landmark so we know where we have to return so DATS can transport us back."

I looked around and spotted a few broken branches on the ground. I grabbed them and made a campfire base without putting it on fire. "We can use this as landmark", I said.

"A campfire without fire?" Masaru raised an eyebrow.

"It's better than nothing", Lalamon nodded.

"We should also decide what time we must return here to make sure we all make it back safely", I added before I checked the time on my Digivice. "The time right now is 1:35 am. We should make it back here by 5:00 am. If anyone of us finds Thomas before that, just get back here and wait for the others."

"Sounds like a plan", Agumon nodded.

"You girls go in your own group", Masaru said. "Agumon and I'll go on our own."

"Are you sure you won't be reckless this time?" Yoshino asked with an "I-don't-trust-you" look.

"And not start a fight with Thomas?" Lalamon added.

"I'll go easy on him…for now", Masaru shrugged. "But if we spot Drimogemon…" He punched his left fist on his right palm. "We'll beat him up."

Yoshino and I looked at each other with uncertain glances before I sighed in defeat. "Just…be careful", I said.

"We will", Masaru nodded.

"And be back on time!" Yoshino added with a serious voice.

"Yeah yeah."

XXXXXXXXXX

Yoshino, our Digimon, and I walked around in the large area while we couldn't help but look around in awe. It was like we discovered something new once every meter. We found a weird plant that had large television screens that showed random numbers. We climbed up a tall hill to have a better look at the area and find traces of Thomas and Gaomon.

We even asked a few peaceful Digimon if they had seen our friends, but the answer we got was no.

After a few hours, we decided to take a break underneath a large tree to hide from the bright sun.

"This could take days…", Yoshino sighed.

"Where do you think they could've gone to?" Lalamon wondered.

"Who knows…", Dorumon mumbled as he rested his head in my lap.

Yoshino leant back against the tree trunk and sighed once again. This time, her sigh sounded a bit frustrated. I barely heard what she mumbled, but I caught this; "I hate feeling like this…"

"Feeling like what, Yoshino?" I asked.

Yoshino gasped in realization that I heard her before she shook her head. "Nothing. Forget it."

I had been feeling this for a while, but there was something that distracted Yoshino lately. I thought it was something she could deal with, since she's always a serious person, but I guess everyone had things they had a hard time taking care of.

Like my fear of being left alone.

I got a bit traumatized of the knowledge that I had been abandoned by my biological family. Did I do something unforgivable and they didn't want me anymore? Would that happen again that could case Father and everyone at DATS to abandon me? Even Dorumon?

I shook my head to get rid of those negative thoughts. I caressed my partner's fur as I tried thinking about the current situation. Why couldn't we locate Thomas? If he wasn't above ground, could he be…

"No way…", I mumbled as my eyes widened in realization. "I think the reason why we lost Thomas's Digivice's signal is because he must be underground."

"Underground?" Yoshino said.

"Yes", I nodded. "It's possible he and Gaomon found Drimogemon and they were somehow forced to go underground. Remember, Drimogemon is a mole Digimon. He could also be sensitive to sunlight like actual moles, so that's why he stays underground, making it hard for us to find him."

"You've got a point there", Yoshino nodded.

"If that's so, then where should we start looking?" Lalamon asked.

"That's a good question…", I mumbled softly.

"Maybe we should go looking for unnatural holes in the ground or on mountains?" Dorumon suggested.

"The mountains are miles away from here", Yoshino pointed out. "It's too far to walk on foot. And the boots we have aren't designed for hiking."

"There is an alternative way, Yoshi", Lalamon chirped. "We can fly instead."

"Good idea", I nodded. "Let's digivolve Dorumon and Lalamon."

"Yes!" Yoshino smiled.

We got up on our feet and grabbed our Digivices while activating our DigiSoul. "DigiSoul Charge!"

"Dorumon digivolve to…Dorugamon!"

"Lalamon digivolve to…Sunflowmon!"

I climbed up on Dorugamon's back while Sunflowmon picked up Yoshino in her large palms. The two Champion Digimon flew up to the sky where we had a greater view of the area. It felt amazing every time to fly on Dorugamon.

We headed toward the mountains when I looked down and spotted a purple figure running on top of the ground. "Dorugamon, get down a bit!" I called. "I think that's Drimogemon!"

Dorugamon and Sunflowmon flew down enough for me to verify it was Drimogemon, but I also got a large surprise. Masaru, Agumon, Thomas, and Gaomon were clinging onto the Champion Digimon's fur to make sure they wouldn't fly off.

"It's Thomas and Masaru!" Yoshino gasped in relief.

"They're all okay!" Sunflowmon added with a happy face.

"But where are they going?" Dorugamon wondered.

"Let's follow them!" I shouted.

I observed Masaru who was steered Drimogemon by pulling his fur on his head. It didn't take long before Drimogemon was forced to run into a colosseum-like structure that was made entirely by ice. It was a clever idea! Ice would be too hard for Drimogemon to drill through, so he was trapped!

Sunflowmon and Dorugamon flew into the colosseum just as Agumon and Gaomon digivolved into their Champion forms. Yoshino and I jumped off our respective partners and hurried to the boys. I could see a red stain on Thomas's leg, meaning he must have gotten injured at some point.

"Masaru! Thomas!" I called.

"Hey, guys!" Masaru smiled.

"Are you two okay?" Yoshino asked.

"Yes…", Thomas nodded, but he then grunted in pain and almost lost his balance.

"Whoa, easy, man!" Masaru said before he quickly grabbed Thomas's right arm.

I also quickly stepped forward and took hold on the blonde's left arm to help him stand. "You're hurt. Don't overdo yourself."

"That's what you get for doing something so foolish and going against Commander's orders!" Yoshino scolded Thomas.

"Sorry…", Thomas said softly.

"Everyone, something's wrong with Drimogemon!" Dorugamon shouted, getting our attention.

We turned at the battlefield and saw how Drimogemon was shaking violently. He was making weird noises before his body got enveloped with data particles.

"He's digivolving!" Gaogamon yelled.

"Drimogemon digivolve to…Giromon!"

"It digivolved?! Into that small Digimon?!" Masaru exclaimed in surprise before laughing hard.

Well, I could understand his reaction. Drimogemon was a large Digimon and now he had digivolved into an Ultimate form that was thrice as small. It looked like a devil orb that was holding a chainsaw. It even had a red grenade strapped on its back.

"Don't underestimate the Digimon, Masaru!" Thomas retorted. "Giromon is an Ultimate Digimon! Our Champion Digimon might be unable to defeat it!"

"Even if there are four Champion Digimon?" Masaru asked.

"Big Bang Boom!"

Giromon grabbed the grenade on its back and threw it at our Digimon. The grenade exploded before impact and created a thick smokescreen around us. I covered my face with a hand and tried not to inhale the smoke. I could hear sounds of fights in front of us and our Digimon partners' painful cries.

"W-What's going on?!" Masaru coughed.

"Our Digimon are in danger!" Yoshino shouted before coughing.

The smoke cleared up to reveal our Digimon were down on their stomachs and Giromon was laughing like a devil at his work.

"GeoGreymon!" Masaru shouted worriedly.

"Sunflowmon!" Yoshino gasped.

"Gaogamon!" Thomas shouted.

"Dorugamon!" I called.

Giromon laughed before he turned his eyes at us. He smirked before revving up his chainsaw with a cold-blood glance.

"Don't tell me Giromon is going to attack us?!" Thomas exclaimed.

"Guillo-Chain Saw!"

Giromon flew past our fallen partners and came toward us with his chainsaw that was revving like a monster's cry. Everyone cried in shock and fear as the Ultimate Digimon approached us.

I was about to panic when I felt a change of mood within me. It was like someone took control over my body.

"Fret not, Eve. Relax your body and allow me to assist you."

It felt like everything was going in slow motion. I ran forward while grabbing my katana made of Chrome Digizoid, unsheathing the weapon as Giromon came closer. We made eye contact as my katana got enveloped with my purple DigiSoul. Giromon swung his chainsaw before our weapons clashed against one another, creating a metallic echo.

I grunted softly as I fought against Giromon's strength. I glared at the Digimon as he looked surprised that I could hold him back from hurting me and the others.

"Eve!" Yoshino shouted in disbelief.

"R-Run!" I shouted as I never allowed my eyes to leave Giromon's.

"No way! We can't leave you!" Masaru called.

I heard GeoGreymon's grunts as I saw from the corner of my eye how he got up on his feet and ran toward us. Giromon noticed him and quickly flew back, making me relax the muscles now that the danger was gone.

Gaogamon pushed himself up on his feet as well and chased after Giromon who threw one grenade after another. It was like they were playing "Cat-and-Mouse".

"Won't you stand still for a second, you stupid bomb?!" Masaru shouted irritably.

I sheathed my katana as A.H. retired somewhere in my soul. Dorugamon and Sunflowmon had devolved back into their Rookie forms and lied on the ground with bruises. Yoshino and I called them back into our Digivices so they wouldn't get more hurt by the battle around them.

"Wait!" Thomas shouted. "Gaogamon, GeoGreymon, stop chasing Giromon!"

The two Champion Digimon stopped in their tracks and looked over their shoulders, surprised by the command.

"What is it now, Thomas?" Masaru asked.

"I just got a hypothesis", the blonde boy said. "Last time, our Digimons' attacks cancelled each other out. What if our Digimon combine their attacks and unite their power to defeat an Ultimate Digimon?"

"That sounds crazy, but it's worth a try", Yoshino commented.

"We have no other options", I nodded.

"Then let's go with that!" Masaru nodded determinedly.

"Guillo-Chain Saw!"

Giromon activated his chainsaw and flew towards the two Champion Digimon while laughing like a mischievous imp.

"GeoGreymon…"

"Gaogamon…"

"ATTACK!" the boys commanded.

"Mega Flame!"

"Spiral Blow!"

The two attacks were launched by the Champion Digimon as they stood side by side. It didn't take long before the attacks combined into one instead of cancelling each other out.

"Whoa! It's a flaming tornado!" Masaru gaped in awe.

Giromon got swallowed by the flaming tornado and cried in pain while the fire ate him up. A Digi-Egg soon fell out of the tornado and landed on the hard ice. Luckily, it didn't get any cracks, so everything was okay.

"Alright! We did it!" Masaru cheered.

"Great job, Gaogamon", GeoGreymon said.

"You too, GeoGreymon", Gaogamon nodded.

"Nice to see how you two can actually work together", Yoshino giggled softly.

"Well… I guess we can make a team, after all", Thomas said embarrassingly.

"It actually feels a whole lot better working together instead of arguing", Masaru confessed before he rubbed the back of my head. "Thomas, I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused. I guess my pride got over me all the time."

"I'm sorry too, Masaru", Thomas nodded. "I've always been the kind who calculates everything to come up with a 100 percent strategy, but I guess I still have much to learn to think outside of the box and improvise, depending on the situation."

"I guess you both can learn from each other", I pointed out before I got stoic serious. "However, Thomas…"

"Y-Yes?" Thomas stuttered when he saw my angry glare.

"You better prepare yourself for an earful from Commander. You disobeyed his orders, so you will get punished for your reckless actions."

"No…", Thomas's face got pale by the thought of Father punishing him.
