- (Epilogue 1) -
One week later.
Natasha didn't want to wait any longer. She's ready. She had asked May to come to the tower.
When May arrived not sure what to expect, she took one look at Natasha and almost burst into happy tears, she could tell what Natasha wanted. "You have my blessing." May knew that she'd already unofficially given Natasha her blessing, but she felt it was important to say it again.
"Thank you, that means a lot to us both." Natasha said
She had waited until Peter was out patrolling and the rest of the team is out doing stuff.
They went to go find Pepper.
"Pepper, it's time, I need them."
Pepper at first didn't know what she was talking about. Until Natasha held up her left hand wiggling her ring finger.
"Oh… OH, okay… yeah let's go get them."
Natasha smiled at how excited Pepper got. "FRIDAY please ask Karen not to say anything to Peter yet. I want to surprise him."
"Of course, she and I are more than happy to do that." FRIDAY sounded just as excited as Pepper. "and may I say congratulations from both Karen and I."
"He hasn't said yes… yet." Natasha told her.
Pepper almost skipping in giddy happiness, to the elevator to take them to the penthouse level.
Pepper got the rings out. Mary's engagement and wedding rings and Richard's wedding ring. "They have both been expertly cleaned and the jeweler fixed the little issues due to their age and the wear and tear, they will be like new, but still the family heirloom. They have been sized to your fingers." Pepper said proud to have done her part in this.
Natasha took Mary's rings out and put them on her finger. She held them up to admire the way the simple rings glitter in the light. She felt her eyes well up in happy tears.
Mary had good tastes and was very practical, this is a good ring for a spy to have.
Nothing complicated, and few sharp corners to catch on anything, low profile.
She couldn't have picked a better ring herself.
She looked up when she heard sniffling. She could see happy tears in May's and Pepper's eyes. "If you both don't stop, I'm going to cry. Then Peter will know something's up." Natasha said smiling.
She almost couldn't take them off, but Pepper gave her the boxes for the rings to be kept safe in her pocket.
"What is your plan?" May asked.
"I'm going to ask him tonight, in the common room. If I don't do it in front of the team, Clint and Stark will whine about it." Natasha said.
"Oh… I'm going to start crying again…" Pepper said wiping her eyes.
May with a smile turned to her and teasingly said, "get it together, woman…"
They spent the rest of the afternoon, planning, May and Pepper kept throwing out suggestions, but Natasha wanted to keep it simple.
Dinner was both achingly slow and way too fast for the three women. Two were doing a better job of keeping it together, then the third.
Oddly it was Natasha, that grew more nervous, as the night went on.
May and Pepper had gotten most of their nervous energy out of their system this afternoon.
The more nervous Natasha got, the more Peter looked at her concerned, and the more May and Pepper had to bite their lips to keep from giggling from amusement and excitement.
Finally, they finished dinner and cleaned up, the guys were ready to relax with a movie. Natasha bit her lip as she took Peter's hand and dragged him to the same couch she sat on when Peter had told the team about their relationship.
By now the rest of the team had picked up on Natasha's nervousness and how May and Pepper were getting more giddy. Even FRIDAY is unusually cheerful, even more than usual.
"Peter… stand there, I, uh, I have something to ask you…." Natasha put one bent knee on the couch and turned to face Peter, she had thought about doing the traditional thing, and get on one knee, but that didn't feel right, and he's already a couple inches taller than her.
"Okay… Nat honey are you okay?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, I'm just nervous."
A shocked look crossed all the guys' faces, they had never heard her admit that.
"Peter, will you marry me?" Natasha just blurted out.
She reached in, to pull out the box with Richard's ring.
She had planned that when he says yes, she would put the ring on his finger, then have him put Mary's engagement ring, on hers.
Peter's brain shut down for several seconds but then he saw the box and the words registered in his brain. He shouted "YES!" Then pulled her into his arms, to kiss her passionately.
The rest of the team sat stunned for a few more seconds, but the clapping and cheering from May and Pepper woke them up.
Soon they were all shouting congratulations and crowding around the newly engaged couple, as they broke off the kiss.
Natasha and Peter both had huge smiles on their faces, matched by the rest of the room.
Natasha took Peter's left hand and slid the ring on his finger. She then pulled out the other box and handed it to Peter.
Peter with shaking hands, opened the box and pulled out the engagement ring. Then he got down on one knee and taking her left hand, he slid the ring on it.
She pulled Peter up for them to kiss again as a second cheer went up from the rest of the room.
"We need champagne, we need to toast this occasion." Tony said suddenly. His smile and happy tears matching the rest of the guys.
Natasha and Peter didn't hear the rest of the room, they are both lost in each other's eyes, their foreheads resting against the other's as they each whisper 'I love you.'
Pepper went to the kitchen and pulled out the bottle she'd put there this afternoon. Then she and May started to grab the champagne flutes, as the rest of the team went to help out.
Soon May took the happy couple their own glasses.
Pepper brought May's glass over to her. They stood around the couple, and May lifted her glass, "I knew when I first saw these two in the same room together, that this would be their destiny. They have overcome many obstacles and troubles to reach this point. Despite the fact that adversity breeds success… here's hoping life, will give them a break every once and a while. To Natasha and Peter!"
"Here, here… to Natasha and Peter!" everyone echoed.
Natasha and Peter looked into each other's eyes again smiling as they both took a drink from the glass. Natasha pulled Peter close and kissed him, she whispered "партнеры во всех отношениях." (Partners in every way.)
Peter smiled and quickly whispered back, "потому что это реально." (Because this is real.)
They were both pulled apart by the team wanting to hug them both.
It took an hour before everyone calmed down, and the team asked about the rings. Peter and May told them how they were Peter's parents.
The elevator dinged as the door opened and the team looked over to see Fury walk in.
FRIDAY had contacted him knowing he would want to know.
"Fury?" Tony asked surprised.
"FRIDAY told me, that Romanoff got her trophy husband." He said smirking.
For the first time in a long time, Natasha lightly blushed.
Which caused surprised looks then laughter.
Fury walked over to see the ring. "Mary refused to take it off, when Richard first asked her. I had to remind her several times. Even then I couldn't bring myself to do it unless it was really necessary." Fury looked at the two, "Congratulations, not just from me but also from Coulson and Hill. I believe Coulson owes Hill $20 now since Romanoff did the asking." Fury said smirking. "Plus, I was just looking for an excuse to come and give Peter something. I'm glad you did this tonight, because I have something for you as well Romanoff.
Fury pulled out two SHIELD badges. "Romanoff, I know you have a badge, but I think you might like this one better." He added cryptically.
He handed Peter a badge, "by the power vested in me by the SHIELD council, I now officially confer the rank of SHIELD agent upon one Peter Benjamin Parker." He shook Peter's hand. Then he added, "by the way that's not just any badge, that was your father's badge."
Fury handed Natasha a badge as well. "this was Mary's badge."
The rest of the room was shocked into silence. May and Peter had tears in their eyes.
"Thank you." Peter whispered through his tears.
"Mary and Richard were my trusted advisers and close friends. I couldn't let their badges just go back into rotation. I had always hoped that you would eventually follow in their footsteps. So, I held on to them. Waiting for this moment." Fury looked at Natasha, adding "I know that Mary would be proud that you will carry her badge."
Peter hugged Fury, Natasha feeling the same hugged him as well.
Fury smiled, not surprised that Peter hugged him, but wasn't expecting Romanoff too as well.
He softly told Peter, "I know your parents would be very proud, of the man you've become. I know I am."
He stepped back and then turning to the rest of the room, smirking at the shocked look. He jokingly said, "Barton, Stark, don't even think about it." He could see both men were thinking of getting their own hug. Mostly as a joke, but for Stark he's just so happy he doesn't care.
Fury had another reason for giving Natasha and Peter his parents badges, not just for sentimental value but like Coulson they are part of his contingency plan, if everything goes to hell. The badges are a way for him to communicate with them that can't be traced. Only four people have those special badges, Coulson, Hill, and now Romanoff and Parker.
Fury begged off staying, telling them he has to get back, but as he leaves, May walks up and hugs him. "I have missed you, my friend. Are you going to visit more?" May asked, she'd known Fury back when Mary and Richard would drag him with them to their family gatherings.
"I'll try. You did good with him." Fury said quietly.
"He got it mostly from his parents, I didn't have to do much."
Fury left and for the first time in a long time, felt better about the future.
Peter sat next to Natasha, she's practically in his lap. She handed him her badge to let him look at it.
Peter held both badges in his hands.
On impulse he opened Mary's badge and bringing it to his nose, he took a deep breath and suddenly a long-forgotten memory sprang up from the scent.
"Peter, where are you?" He heard a vaguely familiar voice callout. He can see he's in a house he thinks is familiar and he's holding the same SHIELD badge that he has now.
"There you are…" young Peter looked up and smiling he said "Momma…"
"Are you, my little secret agent man?" a beautiful brunette woman with very familiar features is looking down at him. He knows that this is Mary Parker, his mom. She picks him up and puts kisses all over his face as he giggles, trying to get away from the tickling. "I've got you now, secret agent man… mwah, ha, ha, ha." Mary said as she continued to tickle young Peter.
He spotted movement and looking over young Peter gleefully shouted, "help me daddy, mommy's got me."
Peter saw a tall handsome man that Peter knew was his father, "Oh she does, does she… I'll save you."
Richard walked over to help Mary tickle Peter who's squirming and laughing so hard he's got tears running down his eyes.
They sat down on the couch and both Mary and Richard kissed Peter all over his face. Then as young Peter calmed down, he put his little arms around both his parents. "I love you."
Mary pressed a kiss on young Peter's forehead, as both she and Richard softly said, "we love you too baby."
Peter came to, with Natasha looking concerned at him. "what is it, are you okay?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You're crying."
"Huh?" Peter reached up and sure enough felt tears on his face, "Oh no, it was happy tears, I recalled my parents… my mom's badge. I could detect her scent in it, and I remember being in a house and playing with the badge. My mom found me, and called me her 'little secret agent man,' then my dad was there. I remember telling them I loved them, and they told me they loved me back." Peter said with a soft smile as he told her.
Natasha smiled and pulling him close she softly kissed him.
May sitting next to them, smiled herself, she'd known even though Peter had never said, that he could barely remember his parents. She's beyond happy for him, to recall a memory. She looked over to see Tony and Pepper looking concerned at Peter. They had noticed Peter's tears.
May smiled and softly shook her head 'no,' that it's okay. She mouthed 'happy tears' to them. Causing them to smile relieved.
The rest of the evening was spent happy and relaxed. When Peter and Natasha left, Natasha reluctantly handed the ring box that had Mary's wedding ring, back to Pepper, to keep safe. She hadn't taken the engagement ring off all night, and had spent most of it just touching it, to make sure it is still there.
Peter knowing, he should do the same, very reluctantly took Richard's wedding ring off, and put it back in the box, for safe keeping.
Even though he'd only had it on, for less than a couple of hours, he felt naked without it.
Clint teased Peter, when he said that, telling him that it's just incentive to not drag out the wedding.
Clint knows exactly what Peter is going through, he too had trouble taking his wedding ring off, when he first got married.
Peter spent the next week just randomly taking Natasha's left hand and kissing the ring.
Natasha would randomly touch it, as well.
- (Epilogue 2) -
Sometime later.
A portal opened up in a deserted alley and three people walked out. A tall brunette man, holding the hand of a beautiful red headed woman. Followed by a tall strawberry blonde woman.
They walked towards Stark tower.
As they walked in, the man looked around, noting the way it's familiar and different, from the others that he's seen.
He looked up and smiled knowing that FRIDAY has already spotted them. Likely alerting whoever is upstairs.
A security guard noticed them and walked over, "excuse me can I help you?"
The man smiled and said "nope, we've got it." He felt his sense lightly vibrate, as he spotted his younger doppelgänger, walk into the door. "Peter." He called out.
He's careful not to make any sudden movements, not wanting to scare FRIDAY or security.
Peter looked up, at hearing a familiar voice, call his name. He looked over and saw a man and two women. One of the women didn't look familiar at all, but the man and the woman standing next to him look very familiar.
The man suddenly said, with an easy smile, "disconcerting at first, isn't it."
Peter walked towards them; he doesn't feel any danger, in fact, his senses seem to say that he can trust them. he felt a slight vibration as he got closer. "Who are you?" Peter asked.
The man smiled again and said, "I'm a version of you, roughly 10 years, in the future, Peter."
They heard the elevator ding and both Peter and the man looked over to see a familiar redhead step out.
Natasha had been upstairs, when FRIDAY had alerted her, to a group of unusually familiar people, that just walked into the lobby. She headed down and stepped into what she could only describe, as the twilight zone.
She walked to Peter, and looking at the group, the woman looks like an older version of her, and the man looks like an older version of her fiancé.
As with every time she thinks of Peter, and their engagement, she felt her thumb brush the engagement ring, she wears as much as she can.
She noticed the older looking version of her, saw her touch the ring and a strange look crossed her face.
The third woman spoke. "I know this is confusing but is there someplace private we can go to talk; we have a lot to tell you." The woman was looking mostly at Peter.
The man added, "wherever you feel comfortable, I know this is a lot to take in, but I promise you that we mean you no harm, we are the good guys. Technically I'm you." The man added.
Peter turned to Natasha, "I trust them, my senses are telling me to trust them." he whispered to her.
Natasha being naturally more suspicious also doesn't feel any danger from the group.
"Okay let's go upstairs." She said turning to head back to the elevator bank.
Peter immediately started to follow her.
The group made their way behind them.
As they reach the private elevator, FRIDAY already opening the door.
"Okay so you are familiar with the multi-verse theory, right?" the man asked.
"The theory that there are an infinite number of worlds out there that all vibrate at different frequencies, so they don't interact."
"Yep, well it's true. We are from a different universe; you had the number 575 pop into your head when you felt your sense vibrate didn't you."
Peter looked surprised.
"That is part of your spider-sense. Whenever you are around another person with spider-powers, your sense will vibrate, and if they are from another universe, their number will pop up. We…" the man pointed to the two women with him. "are from universe 575. I'm Peter Parker, AKA spider-man. This is Natasha Romanoff AKA the black widow and avenger. And this is Julia Carpenter, AKA madam web. We were told it was the right time for us to make contact with your world."
At this point the elevator doors opened to the avenger's area. It is empty but most of the team is around. They all head into the common room.
The man… Parker, continued speaking, "my version of Karen and FRIDAY would like to speak to you FRIDAY, they can show you what I'm talking about." He looked up at the ceiling.
Before anything else was said, Tony walked out of the elevator, FRIDAY had shown him everything.
The man turned to him, "Mr. Stark."
The woman sitting next to him, also said "Stark"
Tony looked at the new group, "well you certainly have our favorite couple's mannerisms down."
"Would you like to take a sample of my blood to make sure I'm who I say I am, and not a clone?" Parker asked.
"That would help." Tony told him, hiding the surprise.
The man looked at the woman sitting next to him, they seem to communicate between each other. "You can also have a sample of mine, but I'm a version of her." The woman said as she pointed to Natasha.
The third woman spoke, "you could have a sample of my blood, but there's nobody here to compare it to. This universe doesn't seem to have a Julia Carpenter, or a Jessica Drew."
Peter spoke, "Mr. Stark, I trust them, my senses are telling me they are, who they say they are. And I want to hear what they have to say."
"FRIDAY? Can you check your surveillance, on the northeast corner of the building, you should be able to see the portal we used to arrive here?" The man said.
"I have already done so, and the sensors detected dimensional energy." FRIDAY said, she had back traced the group, as soon as they walked in the building. "Also, I would be willing to speak to your AIs" She had weighed the options and will be extra cautious.
However, given their information, and Peter's easy acceptance of them.
Plus, she's observed the group, the man that says he's an older version of Peter, acts like him. Using an aged-up photo, they both look very similar.
The man pressed a button, on his watch. "There you go FRIDAY."
Tony looked the group over. "okay until I hear otherwise, I'll believe you. How can we help you?"
Parker smiled, "we don't really need anything, we are just making contact to let you know we're around, so to speak. We do however have some information for Peter and Natasha and a question for them. But mostly we are here to say 'hi' and also give a warning. There are unfortunately, bad guys that have access to the multi-verse. One group in particular like spider totems… that is people like us, that have spider-powers. We're also here to answer any questions you might have about your powers. Because even though there are usually small differences, between the way we get our powers, the basis of the powers is mostly the same. We could take you all to the meeting room, it will help explain everything better. I can give you a program that will let your FRIDAY connect to it as well."
Peter can't help but be excited.
Natasha noticed that the older woman, that is apparently 'her' or at least a version of her. Saw Peter's excitement and a fond look crossed her face. When the woman looked at her, she simply said, "Parkers regardless of what universe all seem to share similar traits. He looks just like this one." She pointed fondly to the man next to her.
"FRIDAY?" Tony asked.
"Yes, boss, I have spoken to several other versions of myself and Peter's Karen and they've shown me this meeting room. I have downloaded and scanned the program and I will be able to communicate with you there. They are who they say they are. It's incredible, to see how different and similar the universes are." FRIDAY said her voice full of wonder.
"My version of FRIDAY, after she yelled at me for not telling her about the spider-verse sooner, had a similar reaction."
"Spider-verse?" Peter asked.
"That's what we call our little corner of the multi-verse that we watch over. Do you want to go?" Parker asked Natasha knowing Peter would go, and even Tony in scientific curiosity would want to go. However, Romanoff's also share similar traits much like Parkers.
Peter looked at his fiancée and she could see his excited look. "I guess."
"Great." Parker stood up and pressed a button on his watch and a portal opened up. "I'll go first just to show you it's fine. It's like stepping through a door." He said as he stepped through.
Peter jumped up and ran through. The two women from the other universe walked through next. Natasha and Tony followed along shortly.
As soon as Natasha stepped through, the portal closed, and she became alarmed. However, Tony held up his watch, "FRIDAY?"
"I'm here boss. I see all three of you."
Natasha felt a little of her concern be alleviated.
The man came back with Peter. "This is the meeting room, it's for lack of a better term, limbo. If you look around you see a few versions of us," he pointed to himself and Peter. "However, we've discovered it's better not to have a lot of people around when new people show up."
"Including Spider-ham." The older Romanoff said as she stood nearby.
"Spider… Ham?" Tony asked.
"He's… different. You have to understand that IDIC is a real thing."
"Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations?" Peter asked.
"Yep, there are an infinite number of worlds out there, most we've not yet discovered."
"IDIC?" Natasha asked, it sounded familiar, but she'd never heard of that acronym
"It's a Star Trek thing." The older Romanoff said, amused.
"Anyway, the best way to explain things is to show you the monitor." Parker said as he directed them to a large monitor. "This is the spider-verse as we know it. The worlds in the center of large groups of clusters are main branches. The prime world, if you want to call it that. Is earth 616. As you can see it has the biggest cluster. However, earth 1610 and earth 199999 are also large clusters. Your earth is classified as earth 73837." Parker pointed to an earth with that number. "Like I said before, we…" Parker pointed to the two women with him. "we're from earth 575." He pointed to an earth on the map.
"What do the colors mean?" Tony asked.
"Just like a stoplight Green means 'go,' everything is fine, there is at least one being that is aware of the spider-verse. If it's flashing that means they need help. We have a group of spider people that we call web-warriors who can go and help if need be. Yellow means the world is fine, but there is either no spider-powered people there, or they are not aware of us yet. Your world was yellow until just a little bit ago. Lastly red means no go, either that earth or universe is destroyed or it's hostile to us. There didn't used to be as much red, but those beings I mentioned that like spider-powered people, they were very powerful and did a lot of damage before we could stop them. they are the biggest reason we do what we do now. Most of us are content to stay on our own earths and just protect it, but we can't. 'with great power comes great responsibility.'"
Peter looked up, "Uncle Ben…"
"Used to say that, I know. Most of us have very similar histories. For better or worse." Parker said.
"You said you had information and a question for Peter and me?" Natasha said.
"We do, but first I want to tell you my role." Julia spoke. "I am madam web, what we do is act as a go between for spider-people and the master weaver." She didn't wait for them to ask, "the master weaver is a being of immense power, it is responsible for your spider-senses. It is outside of space and time so it can see things that haven't happened yet. I've been assigned to your world. If we need you for any reason, or you need us… I or if need be, another madam web will be able to show up and help. Even if it's just a matter of getting another Parker like him." She pointed to her version of Peter standing there. "He's been doing this for almost 10 years longer then you, so he can help."
"Oh wow… okay, how do I, uh, you know call?" Peter said it's like finding out he's got a big brother. Or I guess in this case lots of big brothers.
Parker smiled as he walked over to open a drawer, he pulled out a watch similar to his. "Here you go little brother. I'll explain how it works later, but your FRIDAY should have been briefed on them as well. Sorry Mr. Stark, none for you." He smirked.
"You, know what I was thinking?" Peter said, surprised when Parker called him little brother.
"Yep, there are differences between you and I… not counting our age, but we are a lot more alike, than you might think. We are all brothers and sisters here. I consider everyone here my family. Strange and unique some of them might be, but family nevertheless."
Peter wanted to hug the man, but hesitated.
"Timecop isn't real, come here." Parker smiled and wrapped Peter in a hug.
"Timecop?"
"you know the movie 'the same matter cannot occupy the same space at the same time.'" Parker said to Tony. "It's a Parker thing, don't worry about it."
Julia suddenly looked up, "I need to go, if it's okay, I'll stop by sometime, so we can get to know each other better." She said, mostly for Natasha's benefit.
With that she disappeared.
"Whoa…"
"Yeah, she does that, you'll get used to it. Personally, I think she does it just because she can." Parker said. "Do you want to go back? We'll explain the other reason we made contact back there."
they nod their heads and Parker pressed a button on his watch and the portal opened again. He went through first with his Romanoff. The other three followed, Natasha having to grab Peter, "come on I'm sure we will have time to come back, you have the watch now, remember?"
"Oh yeah."
They arrived to find the rest of the team wearily watching, the two older versions of Peter and Natasha. Parker introduced them and gave a brief overview, of who and why they are there.
The rest of the team seems to relax when it's clear that Peter, Natasha, and Tony are not concerned.
The older Parker and Romanoff sat down together and then he started to explain. "So, earth 1078 is similar to my world. However, the Natasha Romanoff of that world was killed…" Parker trailed off and a pained look crossed his face. Romanoff took his hand and gave it a squeeze; she knows what he's thinking. His fears of losing her. "Anyway, the Parker of that world was discredited when one of his enemies who was dying, transferred his conscience, into Parkers body and suppressed Parker's conscience, causing all kinds of trouble. Eventually Parker was able to regain control of his body, but his life was ruined. Meanwhile, the red room cloned Romanoff the woman calls herself Galina Tsarfin. The red room using Parker's research they gave her spider powers like Parker. If that was it, we wouldn't be concerned. However, the red room and the KGB wasn't satisfied with just that…" both Romanoffs in the room snorted softly at that. Neither were surprised when they heard that. "They took Parker's DNA and impregnated Ms. Tsarfin. It doesn't end there, in the red room's… zeal they overdid it. Galina Tsarfin will have 123 children." Parker paused to let that sink in.
"Whoa, did you say 123?" Clint asked.
"Yep, it's a spider-thing, and thankfully no it's not normal."
"Okay so why talk to us?" Pepper asked, she'd been informed by FRIDAY what's going on.
"We are making contact with different worlds, especially worlds where Peter Parker and Natasha Romanoff are together. Galina Tsarfin the clone of Natasha Romanoff, and Peter Parker are going to have 123 spider powered children. Not only have we decided that the red room can't have them, but they couldn't take care, of that many children. We've talked to the parents; they are willing to let others adopt the children. So, we are going to the few worlds, like this one, where Peter and Natasha are together. What better parents, then the people who are the genetic twins, of the children's parents. They are after all the children of Peter Parker and Natasha Romanoff, the fact that they are from a different universe, won't matter."
Peter and Natasha looked at each other in shock, when Parker told them about adopting.
"What?" Tony asked seeing the two looking at each other.
"You remember when I told you about my dream, before I told Natasha how I felt?"
"Yeah, you told me you didn't want to say."
"The dream…" Peter swallowed, his hands shaking, the possibility. He looked over to see Natasha, with the same look of wonder, hope, and fear in her eyes. "the dream I had was of two little girls, Natasha and I were on one of the tower's observation decks, there was a little playground set up. I knew as soon as I saw them that they were our twin daughters. That didn't make sense because neither Natasha nor I can have kids. But I knew, Mary and Mila Parker were our daughters. I was pushing them in the swings, and they were cheerfully shouting 'higher daddy, higher' it was so real… I, it didn't feel like a dream." The rest of the team was quiet, they could read the emotions, on Peter's face.
Parker smiled, "You most likely had a future memory, sent to you by the master weaver." Parker looked at his Natasha, "We have been having dreams, I believe… I hope, it's a future memory of our twin children. We've already told the parents we want to adopt a boy and girl."
Peter and Natasha felt their hands grip each other. "We, we'll talk about it." Natasha said, but she's sure that they will say yes.
"That's all we ask; we'll arrange a time for the two of you to meet Galina so she can meet you." Romanoff said, but she knows they will say yes.
"Now I know we've dropped a lot of information on you all at once. Peter I'll show you how to use your watch, then we'll get out of your hair." Parker said getting up.
Peter got up and took the watch out of his pocket. Walked over to where Parker is standing.
"So, congratulations I saw the engagement ring on her hand."
"thanks, it's still pretty new. What about you guys?"
"We, well we spent some time together when I was about your age, but things didn't work out, and we went our separate ways, but recently she and I… rediscovered each other. However, I never stopped loving her, even when I was with someone else… I assume you have an MJ in your world, is it either Michelle Jones or Mary Jane?"
"Whoa, Michelle Jones, but I used the name Mary Jane once…"
Parker smiled not surprised, "we've discovered that there's two main differences, when it comes to Peter Parker. The ones like me, we went to school, with a red headed green-eyed woman, name Mary Jane Watson, or MJ for short. Most of us, end up marrying her. However, the versions like you, MJ is Michelle Jones, and since you guys, are on average, 10 years younger. There's no telling how it will turn out. Anyway, some things like the name Mary Jane can bleed through, to other universes, we don't know why. So, the fact that you thought of that name doesn't surprise me." Parker explained how the buttons work and reminded Peter that FRIDAY is also familiar with it if need be. "Don't be surprised if Julia shows up out of the blue, she likes to do that at times. With her connection to the master weaver she knows when she should and shouldn't show up." With that Parker got up he and Romanoff said their goodbyes as they stepped through an open portal.
Peter sat down next to Natasha, still feeling a little shell-shocked. "Well what do you think?" he asked the room.
"That was really your dream?" Bucky asked.
"Yeah, it… didn't feel like a dream, that's why I thought, that maybe I was seeing another Peter Parker and his family. I, I never thought it could be just a future version of us…" Peter looked at Natasha.
"So, I guess we're going to have to figure out how, to spider-child-proof the tower." Tony said, he could see how hopeful Natasha and Peter are.
Peter looked over in surprise, to see the rest of the team smiling and nodding. They are all excited about the possibility, of their favorite spider-couple, having children, to go with their marriage.
"FRIDAY, what did you find out?" Tony asked.
FRIDAY spent the rest of the evening, relaying what the other AIs had been telling her, about the history of the spider-verse. She mentioned some of the differences, between the different worlds.
Later that evening, Peter and Natasha went home. As they got ready for bed, they both kept thinking about how the need to move became more real.
As much as they love this place, it's not really designed for children. Also, the need to be closer to either the tower, or May, became much more important.
Plus Mr. Stark mentioned something, about having a place for them, soon.
As Peter and Natasha lay in bed, both still processing all they had been told, Natasha suddenly said, "so Mary Jane, huh."
"How did…"
"The other Romanoff told me, a little about the shared history. She's interesting, she kept looking at my engagement ring. She would get a look, I could only describe, as longing."
Parker told me about how Michelle Jones is MJ here, but in his… set of universes, it's Mary Jane Watson. I, I want to adopt them." Peter said giving voice to what they are thinking.
"I know, I do to. I wish I could have seen that dream or future memory…" Natasha said. The dream would come up in her mind every now and then, especially if she would see two little girls.
They talked a little more about what might happen and tried to plan for it as best as possible. Eventually they made love then went to sleep.
Natasha opened the door, to one of the apartments, in the tower. She looked down to see two little girls, playing with Peter. She knew as soon as she saw them, they are their daughters, Mary and Mila. And Natasha doesn't have to look down at her ring finger, to see the wedding ring, to know that Peter is her husband.
She smiles when she watches, the toddlers start to waddle towards her, shouting 'momma, momma,' it sounded so beautiful to her.
She saw Peter pick them up and walk towards her. She softly smiled when Peter told them, 'yeah that's your mommy isn't she.'
He then reached over to kiss her hello. He transferred the two squirming girls who are reaching for her.
She softly laughs, when the girls pat her face, and Mary leans over, to give her an open mouth kiss, on her chin.
Natasha pulls them close and felt Peter wrap his arms around her and the girls. She can see the content peaceful look on his face, that she knows she has on hers.
"Come on, I fixed dinner, the girls are getting hungry. When they go down for the night, I'll have your welcome home present." Peter said, with a hint of naughty teasing.
"Hmm, I like that plan." She said.
They walked into the kitchen, Natasha watched herself, as she seems to know what to do.
They put the girls in their highchairs and feed them their dinners.
Peter did a better job of getting more of the food into Mary, then Natasha did with Mila, but she knows that's because Mila, is more of a fussy eater then her easy-going sister.
Plus, she knows that Peter is the one that does most of the household work. He's her househusband, as well has her trophy husband. She jokingly told him that, which he groaned good natured, about.
They spent the evening playing with the girls, and then getting them ready for bed.
After they were down for the night. Peter picked her up and carried her into their bedroom, where he made passionate love to her.
They cleaned up and went to sleep.
Natasha woke up to find tears in her eyes and see Peter watching her. "are you okay honey?" he asked.
"Yeah, just had a wonderful dream…" she said, smiling, her tears were happy tears.
"Let me guess, you came home, and we spent the evening with our twin girls, then afterwards I made love to you?"
"Yeah… you had that dream to?"
"Yep, do you really see me, as your trophy husband?" Peter asked teasingly.
Natasha just laughed as she smiled and pulled Peter close to kiss him. "Yes, and you are my househusband to. I'll be the one out earning the money while you stay home barefoot in the kitchen."
Peter smiled but shook his head fondly.
He knows from the dream that he works at SI, so work is only down several floors or his personal lab across the hall.
Natasha suddenly said, "they are so beautiful, and they are ours… yours and mine… it doesn't seem real, I never thought I would have that. A family, with the man I love. It's a dream come true…" she felt her eyes well up again, at how peaceful and happy she felt, in her dream, with her family.
"I know, in my dream to. I know I said I wasn't sure I wanted children, but ever since, I had that dream. I knew I did… so-call Parker curse or not."
Natasha just pulls Peter closer to her, they fall asleep smiling, at the dream, or future memories, or whatever it is.
The End… For now.
