Chapter 5: Time Was Wearing Thin

Santana was spitting mad and Kurt... was strangely quiet and calm. Sebastian picked Kurt up for a date on Sunday like they planned after Wes interrupted their weekend nesting. He met the parents as well and Burt had eyed him oddly as he shook his hand. He looked to Kurt for reassurances and Kurt smiled wryly and explained later that Burt was concerned about the bruise. Kurt was concerned about the bruise and Sebastian let Kurt kiss him, it, better. It was a silent apology though for Blaine's behavior and how they'd dragged Sebastian into it.

"It's a pattern of behavior." Sebastian pointed out. "Though I am fine. He could have done worse to me and he could do something still to you."

"He won't hurt me." Kurt brushed off.

"He tried to force you to have sex in the back of Carole's car."

"He had a big ego that night, besides he was drunk and horny. It was just a bad combination and he did stop. He didn't hurt me."

"No, he just hurt me." Even though it hadn't really hurt that badly, it just bruised large and black by today. "He still has a big ego but he was pissed and horny too."

"Horny? For you?" Kurt wasn't sure, he knew that Blaine had been pleased by the attention but he hadn't acted on it. Not that it wasn't something he'd fault Blaine for, Sebastian was gorgeous.

"For you, it's been 5 months since he got his rocks off for the first and only time. He's wound up because he wants to have more sex, with you. Although at one point he could have had me, even before he lost his virginity. Not now though."

"Oh good, not now." Kurt agreed with a sassy tone.

Still, that was after they got out the door and he knew Kurt was just mocking him.

"It's not too early?" Burt asked in addition to the questioning look and Kurt crossed his arms over his chest, set in his path and they all knew it too. They wouldn't be able to convince Kurt of anything different, not that Sebastian wanted to.

"I have known Sebastian for awhile now and no, it's not too early. Things should have ended with Blaine half a year ago, honestly. Sebastian's been a saint for waiting for so long until I got myself together and was able to end it with Blaine properly."

"If you're sure." Burt looked to Sebastian again. "Don't mess with him."

"I'm not going to-" Finn chose that moment to come down and ruin any reassurances Sebastian could make to Burt. He went off on all the misdeed Sebastian had done, including his involvement with Karofsky's suicide attempt. Sebastian glanced at Kurt startled. He hadn't been aware that anyone else knew but the three of them about Sebastian's role in all of that.

"Kurt... This isn't a good idea actually. I don't think this is the right time to be getting into a relationship with Sebastian. You've already got a lot on your plate and you've just broken up with your boyfriend of over a year-"

"No, dad." Kurt put his foot down figuratively. "There's a lot you don't know or understand and Sebastian has worked hard to change. He-"

"You've just basically told me you've known him less than six months and you can't be sure if he's really changed or is just putting on a front. If he's just trying to get into your pants-"

"I'd have already succeeded and am still here." Sebastian spoke before he realized he probably shouldn't, he was just so used to antagonizing people who thought poorly of him, putting them off balance by being so blunt with an uncomfortable subject.

Kurt closed his eyes with a moan while Burt darkened to a ruddy hue. "Kurt! I really don't think it's a good idea for you to go anywhere with him. What do you really know-"

Kurt's eyes snapped open and he stepped between Sebastian and Burt. "I know that you always taught me to believe in myself and my instincts. My instincts are telling me that Sebastian's really trying here, not putting on a front. If I'm proven wrong, that's my bad, but it's still my choice."

"You're 17, technically, I still have a say in all this and if he's hurt Karofsky what do you think he can do to you?" Burt argued and Sebastian stepped up behind Kurt.

"Sir, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to prove to you that the behavior that contributed to Karofsky's suicide attempt has ended. I would never do anything to harm Kurt or endanger him in any way, including from himself-" the thought was too much for Sebastian to contemplate and so he forced right passed all the thoughts cropping up in his brain. "I won't say I'm perfect or I have a perfect past, or that I will be anywhere close to perfect at any the time in the future, but for Kurt... for Kurt I'm willing to try. I also know that I had to change myself for myself and the public at large. Karofsky's suicide attempt woke up several people, chiefly me."

Burt's lips pressed together, eying Sebastian, trying to read him and uncover all the hidden depths of his soul, all the caverns that held the secrets and wanting to expose them then and there. He wouldn't find them all, Sebastian had hidden some of them even too well from himself. "If anything does happen to my boy – I'm going to find you and I will be the last one who did."

Sebastian swallowed hard at the idea, knowing that Burt Hummel was Kurt Hummel's father and based on what he knew about Kurt, he was certain Burt would follow through. "I understand sir, and I may just help you if it came down to that."

Kurt rolled his eyes. "Ok dad, that's enough. Are you satisfied?"

"Not even remotely but time will tell us exactly who Sebastian is." Burt dragged Kurt into a hug. "Have fun but the clean kind, ok kid?"

"Dad." Kurt was very embarrassed by any talk about his sex life with his dad, even something as vague as that.

Sebastian linked his fingers with Kurt's and tugged him toward the door. "You're not seriously going to let those two go out on a date, are you? He photo-shopped my head on another body-"

"Everyone knew it was photo-shopped, obviously, Finn. Your brother is almost an adult. I need to let him make his choices and if those choices are mistakes, at least he's under my roof making them and I can be there to help him pick up the pieces. Life is full of choices, some work out and some don't, and I want to be there to support him which ever way things go. The more experiences and choices while living under my roof the better, so he's more prepared for the world out there when he's on his own."

Sebastian felt Kurt's fingers tighten around his as they overheard the conversation that had no attempt to hide it from them. They were heading out, yes, but they weren't quite out the door yet. Finn and Burt were talking in the kitchen while Sebastian and Kurt were putting on their shoes and jackets. It was a windy spring day out there.

Sebastian looked over to Kurt who smiled at him reassuringly, but he wondered if there wasn't a faint line of worry around those lips. Kurt didn't fully trust him either.

At dinner, Kurt explained that Karofsky had told Finn about Scandals and his run-ins with Kurt, Blaine and Sebastian himself. Finn was uncomfortable to learn about a gay bar and that it was worse than he was expecting but he supposed he should be happy Kurt had a place where he was somewhat safe. Although a gay bar was a good target for hate crimes too.

"Carole didn't say anything." Sebastian pointed out while they ate dessert and he was pleased to note Kurt's enthusiasm over the cheesecake. He wanted that wicket tongue on him like that. Even though he'd brought up the subject, he was kind of distracted after watching that tongue wrap around his fork.

"Carole won't either, not unless she needs to and she hasn't needed to yet. I'm sure she and my dad talk in private but she won't make a comment on my relationships out loud to me and definitely not in my hearing vicinity if she were to talk to someone else about it. I highly doubt it though, I'm not her kid, I don't think she had much interest in me outside of my being her husband's son and Finn's friend and now step-brother."

"That seems nihilistic of you." Sebastian frowned lightly. "Do you not get on?"

"We get on fine." Kurt shrugged. "It's just the truth. Dad's more blunt in his opinions about Finn but Carole's not with me."

"Maybe she sees that you're more mature in your decisions and doesn't need to interject when she agrees with you?"

"Sometimes it would be nice to hear that, especially with my stubborn and determined father. It's hard to get him to see my side of things." Sebastian wisely held his tongue with his response to that. Instead he made a comforting noise.

Still though, he was worried about what Blaine was planning to do the next day and what Burt would say or do when Kurt got home. Finn already made his stance clear, he had not won over the favors of his boyfriend's brother.

Sebastian chortled when he found out what went down on Monday though. Santana had a blast reporting it to him. Neither Kurt nor Sebastian were violent people, they didn't fight with fists, they used words instead. Sebastian had obviously been known to do more than that, but it still held true that he had never punched anyone even if he had back handed someone before. He'd also slapped one of the wives when she was hysterical and it did bring her some clarity and sense.

Kurt verbally harangued Blaine in the middle of a crowded hallway. Blaine had never been on the receiving end of a Kurt going full-force with a long train behind him. Blaine kept trying to interject but Kurt kept talking over him, determined to be heard for once. Sebastian wasn't pretty sure Blaine didn't hear or if he did, wasn't actually listening or have a single care about what he had to say. Everyone else did though (except Rachel, Tina and Finn).

Blaine just pressed Kurt back slightly (without hurting him, just needing space to belt out), totally furious himself with what he viewed as Kurt's betrayal, Wicked Little Town.

The entire Glee force came down on him then, except Tina and Rachel, but even Tina was not exactly in his corner with that performance.

Everyone looked at Blaine oddly for the rest of the day and he hid with his tail between his legs whenever he noticed those looks; which sufficient to say, was often.

He was less pleased to hear about what went on the rest of the week. There was a haphazardous apology in front of everyone in Glee and they all forgave him, except Kurt and Santana. They all thought that Blaine and Kurt would get back together now.

Blaine practically hung off of Kurt whenever they were in the same room together. It wasn't often, but Blaine had started coming around to walk with Kurt to Kurt's next classes. He was plastered up against him and Santana had to step in on Wednesday when she decided enough was enough. Kurt was incredibly uncomfortable and kept trying to peal himself away but Blaine just held on tighter and jabbered as if they were still dating and never had an argument or break up to begin with.

At one point, Santana literally grabbed Blaine by the collar of his shirt and pulled him off of Kurt, hard. He fell to the floor but he took Kurt with him. Kurt promised when Sebastian called after hearing about that, that he was ok, it wasn't a hard hit. He had gotten used to hard hits and this was nothing like that. Santana muttered about it all day long on Thursday, but she plastered herself to Kurt's side, saying she was just keeping him warm for Sebastian. She even sat on his lap during Glee, not that they had a competition to train for or anything, they were just keeping it up since they were friends and a team and the younger kids still needed to practice.

Rachel and Finn had decided to hold off on the wedding until Kurt and Blaine were fully back together but they were still planning on getting married before summer's end.

Brittany sat on Kurt's lap on Friday and the entire day either Santana or Brittany were linking arms with Kurt. Sebastian came over and was in Kurt's room – with the door open.

Sebastian pulled Kurt's face to his and gave him a kiss before pulling back to look him over. "The door-" Kurt protested when Sebastian started moving clothes out of the way as he sought answers for himself.

"If your father thinks I give a damn about whether a door is open or not-" He caught Kurt's harassed look and he stopped what he was saying. He would try to be respectable for Kurt's sake. "I just want to make sure you're not injured anywhere."

"I've already told you, I'm not." It had taken great restraint for Sebastian not to drive out Thursday when Santana had told him about what was happening. He'd made her promise to keep Kurt safe, to keep him from being molested like that. It had been the right word to use, there was a lot of history in the glee club when it came to Kurt being touched and they had all felt incredibly guilty not to get ahead of it at the time. Most of them would go against their love for Blaine if it presented in that manner, not that Santana had needed it, but it did stir her up more, which was what Sebastian had been hoping for.

"Why was it Santana telling me everything that happened this week and not you? You chatted about so many other things but not one word about Blaine or ending up on the ground-" Sebastian had to be satisfied that he was unharmed from what he could see. They weren't allowed back on Dalton property together, Kurt not at all, and so they had to take their relationship back to PG status, which annoyed the hell out of Sebastian now that he'd gotten to go X-rated with Kurt. Kurt wasn't exactly pleased by it either.

"I told you about Blaine-"

"That he was being annoyingly present, not that he had basically been your second skin. Was he touching you too?"

"No! Not like that." Kurt rubbed his eyes. "This is why I didn't tell you, I knew you would be jumping to all sorts of accusations-"

"Not of you." Sebastian was quick to reassure. "I trust you, I do not trust Anderson."

"But to think I let him touch me- that's a criticism of me."

"I don't think you would willingly let him touch you. Though why he was still able to cling to you like that-"

"I tried to get him off of me. He's very much a koala, the more I tried, the harder he clung." Kurt glanced toward the open door and saw Finn walking by. It wasn't the first time in the last half hour. He wasn't even sneaky about his intentions, he kept looking in, holding Sebastian's gaze and then walking off. Kurt huffed in frustration and walked over to the door and slammed it shut. He went back to the bed where Sebastian was lounging on and straddled his legs. "There is only one pair of hands I want on me besides my own." He tilted forward so he could properly kiss Sebastian.

"Why is this door closed?" Finn asked, opening it wide and grabbing a book off of Kurt's desk to wedge it open.

"Finn!" Kurt pulled away to yell at his brother. "Don't you have a fiancee to bother?"

"No, she's with her dads right now picking out a wedding dress." Finn shrugged and leaned against the frame. "So? Do you have an explanation for why it was shut?"

"It was the wind." Sebastian said just as Kurt retorted.

"Do you keep the door open when you have sex with Rachel?"

Finn turned bright red at Kurt's words and Sebastian looked to his boyfriend in complete shock, never in a million years would he have expected Kurt to say that like that. Yes, he could see him saying that to Finn but not now, not under his dad's roof, not at this age. "We were going to have sex just now?" His mouth ran away from him but it was a true enough question.

Kurt glanced at him as if the answer was duh. Sebastian smiled pleased, so they weren't on complete lock down now.

"It's not the same thing!" Finn argued. "Rachel is my girlfriend, we've been together for ages. You and Sebastian have just started seeing each other and he's the enemy and cruel."

"He's never been cruel to me." Kurt said calmly, knowing that his stepbrother was going to have a problem with Sebastian for a very long time if they didn't deal with matters soon.

"He tried to slushy you with rock salt! He nearly blinded Blaine."

"That was never going to hit Kurt. I waited until Blaine was in the way before I threw it and made sure the arch would hit Blaine and not Kurt. It was still a little high, granted, when it hit. I was not intending to nearly blind him."

"He and you argue constantly."

"We bicker, not unlike you and Rachel." Kurt lifted a brow, wanting Finn to go on.

"We bicker about being right, you and Sebastian have said incredibly hurtful things to each other." Finn argued, crossing his arms but his outrage was lessening, slowly.

Sebastian and Kurt looked at each other. "Have you ever been hurt by my words?" Kurt asked.

"Never. You?"

"Only when you called me a bitch, but I suppose I can be one, so no, not really." Kurt smirked when Sebastian's face fell but then Sebastian smirked right back as Kurt finished what he was saying.

"You haven't been hurt by the hateful things you've said to each other?" Finn was very confused.

"Why would dressing like a Puerto Rican Gay Pride Float hurt me?" Kurt asked honestly bewildered by what was harmful in that. "I am showy and bright and I like glitter. I just don't show off a lot of my body, so that wasn't completely accurate."

Sebastian snorted. "As if smelling like Craig's List made any sense, what does Craig's List smell like? I know there's both good and bad things on there."

"But- he called you gay face."

"I've been obvious and out since the day I was born, I think he had a right to call me that. Artie and the teachers made it even clearer that I'll never pass, might as well suck it up and accept that I look like what I am."

It was actually an unfortunate case of the gay face but Sebastian wouldn't point that out, it still held true, either way you said it and he didn't think it was unfortunate at all, he liked Kurt's face. "Horse teeth are straight and strong." Sebastian said before Finn could try to break them up. "Freddie Mercury had what some people would call horse teeth. I'm in good company there."

Finn grumbled but still didn't move. "What is this really about?" Kurt asked, put out and Sebastian reached for Kurt when he started to move off of him. That was not the best idea right then.

Sebastian caught and held Kurt in place. "I think I know. I'm sorry that you thought people would believe that the picture I photo-shopped was real. It was obviously not, considering there were ladies legs, a male anatomy that was totally a different color and a girdle poorly holding in a beer belly. Everybody knows you don't look like any of that. The only things in that picture that was yours was your head and everyone knows it too."

"That... is not an apology." Finn said, master of those kind of not-apologies himself.

"I apologize for hurting your feelings and making you worry about your reputation." Sebastian lifted a brow and waited.

"What about Rachel?"

"What about Rachel?" Kurt spoke slowly and sharply.

"I think he ought to apologize to her too."

"For what?" Sebastian couldn't remember what he would have said or done to the little girl.

"I'm sure she has a list." Kurt reassured him. "Best if you see the list first and then you can just go down it crossing each off as you apologized."

"I can handle that." Sebastian nodded. "Will you go now and close the door on the way out?"

"I don't trust you, but I will go because I accept that you will apologize to her too." Finn left, but he didn't close the door.

Kurt rolled his eyes and went to close it but Sebastian held him in place. "Don't go, you feel so good right there." He closed his eyes and just took in the warmth of Kurt surrounding him and his member. He wasn't moving and while he was fully erect, he didn't make this purely sexual.

"If I get up and close the door, I can make you feel even better." Kurt promised and bent over to whisper in his ear. "Sébastien."

Sebastian groaned and quickly released Kurt. "Go, go, do that. Go."

Kurt chuckled and easily got up and off of Sebastian and the bed and crossed over to close the door again, sliding the book out of the way with his foot and then for good measure put it on the other side and the chair to his desk under the handle.

"That's not going to work the way you want it to, it has to be tilted but it's the wrong chair to handle ratio." Sebastian pointed out and Kurt lifted a brow.

"How are you with it enough to criticize my attempts to keep my family out of our sex life?" Kurt popped back up onto the bed and started unbuckling Sebastian's belt.

"Huh? I totally lost all ability to focus once more." Sebastian teased but he was partially serious too as Kurt released him and his thoughts scattered. When Kurt's head lowered and his mouth embraced him... they short-circuited all the way.

Sebastian stared up at the ceiling afterward as Kurt snuggled into his side. They both had their clothes back in order but there was still a lingering smell to the room that Kurt was trying to air out by having his window open. It was still fairly cool outside but it was comfortable enough. His fingers were tracing Kurt's shoulder. He was in a daze and Kurt tilted his head back to look at him, sensing that Sebastian was not with him. "What is it?"

"I never bottom." Not that he never had before but this was the first time in a very long time and several men later.

"Oh." Sebastian hadn't even tried to change it, hadn't said anything, had appeared to be just as eager as Kurt when it was obvious it was heading that way. "Was it ok that you did?"

"With you... yeah, yeah, it was ok, it was fantastic, actually." He would do it again, and that thought actually scared him. More than anything else he'd shared with Kurt, anything that being with Kurt or wanting to be with Kurt had led him to do... wanting to bottom again was terrifying in it's intensity of emotion and commitment and trust he'd placed in Kurt's hands. He had thought he'd known what he was doing but it really hit home just then and there.

He would have run, he would have, had Kurt not been snuggled up against him, had he not wanted this man so much, still. Had Kurt not become his best friend in all of this as well as another to share his bed, he may have. Yet that was just it, wasn't it? It was more than just physical or even emotional. It was mental too, it was history now that they shared as well as the rest of it. Even before this, he'd already been planning on a future for them together. This was just further proof he was on the right path, that his gut instinct had been right.

"The great Sebastian Smythe, changing for little me?" Kurt teased but there was a look of wonder in his eyes too.

"Yes." He said it so honestly, that it gave Kurt pause and Kurt thought about it even if he didn't say more and laid his head back onto Sebastian's chest. It was his turn to be lost in thought and in a daze. "You're surprised? Why? Because I can change?"

"You still being here at all, actually." Kurt's words were so raw and it hurt deeply but it was nothing less than Sebastian deserved.

"I'll show you that there's no place in the world I would rather be. That I'll always be right here." He started to sing Adele's Make You Feel My Love. It wasn't loud, it wasn't for anyone else's ears and when he sang it, it was heartfelt. He put special emphasis on the verse: "I know you haven't made your mind up yet. But I would never do you wrong. I've known it from the moment that we met. No doubt in my mind where you belong." The entire song could fit them, fit Kurt, but he wanted to make sure Kurt heard that part, he would sing it to him a million times or more if he had to, to make Kurt understand.

Tears fell from Kurt's eyes and made a cool puddle on his chest. He didn't know why Kurt was crying but he wasn't pulling away either, so he hoped that was a good sign.

Kurt lifted his head and Sebastian reached up to wipe the tears away with the pad of his thumb, he could only get the one side without moving awkwardly underneath Kurt's slim form. "You really are in this for the long haul, aren't you? You're not just going to one day laugh in my face and say it was all a joke and I fell for it."

"It's never been a joke to me and I would never do that to you."

Kurt bit part of his bottom lip as he thought and considered Sebastian's words. He knew that Kurt was drawing incomplete conclusions but Sebastian wasn't there yet to lay out his whole heart bare and raw and vulnerable. He didn't know it himself yet. He kept thinking that one day he may wake up and think, well, that was a fun experience, time to move on to the next lay. This was so unlike him but at the same time he knew he would never, ever, hurt Kurt. Not emotionally, not physically and he would rather be slashed into a million times than even contemplate it.

Sebastian did not know what this was yet, but he did know that he was going to throw himself into it 100%, that's just what he did. Most of the time it was easy to do, because he knew it would be a night of thrills and then he'd be walking away, so might as well make those thrills the best they could be. This was like that but so much more too. He didn't guard his heart, he never had to in the past because it was never threatened. So he didn't now either, not that he wanted to or feared what would happen if he didn't.

No, he knew Kurt was the one holding back, trying desperately to keep his walls up so he wouldn't get hurt again but at the same time interested and wanting this. So giving it a tentative try but putting himself more into it than he had even with Blaine. Sebastian knew this, it was a weird struggle to watch. He was throwing himself in because love required being all in, trying, if it were to work but also knowing he'd tried it in the past and was hurt, hard, and was manipulated. Feared he was being manipulated again, not fully trusting himself or Sebastian and Sebastian had a past to contribute to that fear and worry and distrust, unlike Blaine with his spotless record.

In this, Sebastian felt like he had all the patience in the world. He would give Kurt the time and reassurances he needed without once begrudging him of his worries. There was an unlimited well that Kurt could draw from and drink it in. Sebastian was willing to be questioned, to be judged and worried upon. This, this he would not fight Kurt about, would just continue to give, no questions asked.

Sebastian was just beginning to place a label on this. He wasn't scared of the label, the opposite in fact, it was something he had always known was inevitable. He couldn't have picked a better person for it to attach itself to, for him to have in his life and he thanked his lucky stars they wanted him back. Because of this label, he was able to be who he was now.

After all, wasn't love supposed to be patient and kind? He could be both for the man in his arms. He'd already proven that he could be in other ways. This wasn't a challenge for him.

No, the challenge for him was waiting out the school year when ever day he wanted to punch Blaine's clock. He was still refusing to believe that he and Kurt had broken up.

He rolled up the following Saturday at Kurt's house, dressed up in a suit and carrying flowers. Burt had answered the door while Kurt and Sebastian cuddled together on the couch with a blanket wrapped around them. Finn and Rachel were in the room as well, also cuddling. He and Carole were as well on his recliner and all six of them were watching a movie. When the bell rang, Carole went to go get it but Burt insisted that he should and he eyed Blaine standing there dubiously.

"What are you doing here?" He had never liked Blaine, or so Kurt had told Sebastian. Sebastian got to see it first hand now and Burt seemed like he was trying to be kind. He wasn't eying Blaine with quite the same look he'd given Sebastian but it was close. Both had wanted the same thing from Kurt and both had gotten it and so Burt had to treat them both with kid gloves until he came to his own decisions and relationships with them.

"I'm taking Kurt out on a date." Blaine said honestly.

"Oh, that's it." Sebastian got to his feet and stalked over to the door with Kurt tugging on his arm as he went, practically dragging Kurt with him to the door as he went. "You're so completely delusional. I think you belong in a psych ward-"

"How'd you even know I was here?" Kurt asked cutting into Sebastian's tirade.

"Wes told me you weren't allowed back at Dalton, so the obvious conclusion was that you'd be here."

"We could have been out-" Kurt was still trying to hold Sebastian back and because he wouldn't hurt Kurt, he didn't even try to brush him off.

"Rachel text me to say that you were watching a movie with her and Finn."

Kurt let go suddenly and spun around to face the culprit. "Rachel!" He stalked toward her, forgetting all about Sebastian and Blaine as he had a new target in his sights. "How dare you? You know that we've broken up. I get that doesn't fit into your little plan but guess what, not everything will!"

"Don't you think I know that?" Rachel sniffed as if the waterworks were already coming. "I was rejected from NYADA, I have no plans for the future. My life is completely derailed. I'm sorry if I was just trying to make sure yours wasn't going the same way!"

She did not just say that – Sebastian was tempted to whirl around and give Rachel a piece of his mind but Kurt was already doing it, not falling for her tears this time, not while she attacked his relationship with Sebastian.

Yet even after he put her in her place, he was wrapping her up in a hug and comforting her. What a strange relationship, one that he would never understand from the outside. She had Kurt wrapped around her little finger. As long as the rest of Kurt was wrapped around him, he wouldn't pry at them too hard or too much. Once upon a time, Kurt had said that Rachel was a female version of Blaine and he was seeing that for himself. Yet Kurt could handle her, he played her right back when he needed to. As long as he remembered he could do that and did so, then Sebastian wouldn't interfere.

"You should leave, kid." Burt said and for a second, Sebastian thought he was talking to him, but when he looked back around, Burt had completely bard the doorway so Blaine couldn't get in. "Kurt's made his decision, you need to respect that." Then he closed the door in Blaine's face.

Sebastian stared, not expecting Burt to pick his side. It took him a moment to realize that he hadn't, that he'd just chosen to support Kurt in breaking up with Blaine. Maybe it included his acceptance of Kurt choosing Sebastian, but it wasn't obviously there. Sebastian's shoulders slumped and headed back to the couch.

"None of us will let him in, not unless you want us to." Carole finally spoke up about the relationships her husband's son was entangled in.

"Thanks Carole." Kurt gave her a half smile, thankful that she wasn't falling for Blaine's charms or intending to either. Sebastian hooked his legs over Kurt's and struggled to get smaller so he could rest his head on Kurt's shoulder but it was just not the way the two of them were designed to cuddle. Kurt laughed and slid up the couch some more to help him out and finally he found a comfortable position.

At school for the final weeks he sang broken hearted love songs one right after the other. I Want You Back. Even ones that didn't make any sense if you actually listened to the song lyrics, When She Was Mine, even if he did change the pronouns. When You Were Mine, angry and yet wanting him back... he just kept going. Those were only top hits from the songs Kurt told him about.

Sebastian on the weekends could see that Kurt was not sleeping well, he was incredibly stressed out and it was just getting worse as the school year finally drew to a close. He had been putting in more shifts at the garage to help make as much money as possible and in addition to those he'd been applying around town for a second job. The Lima Bean hired him on, knowing him well, knowing he knew his coffees and liking his sass, they needed some of that.

Burt said he would contribute to the school's tuition but it was steep and even if he made decent money, which he did, he still had a shop to run and his own medical bills to pay off. Kurt took out a student loan which Burt cosigned. It would be easier and cheaper for Kurt to pay his off than the other way around, what with the year deferment after he graduated and no interest gathering in the meantime. Still, Burt put away some money through the years for Kurt's education and was going to put money up for his living quarters, something the loan didn't cover even though technically dorms were supposed to be part of that. He should have been able to use his money anyway he pleased but they specified in their contract tuition only, for whatever reason. Perhaps it was because of the school and field Kurt was going into, perhaps it was because of the steep cost of tuition alone, not to mention what housing in New York was like.

Sebastian didn't like it.

He liked it even less when he was not invited to Finn and Rachel's wedding the last week real week of school and they tied the knot only for Rachel to get home on Monday to find out that Madam Tibideaux changed her mind and allowed Rachel to attend in the Fall along side Kurt.

She squealed and danced and talked about the two of them getting their own place. Kurt wanted to try and live in the dorms but when Rachel got in, he threw in the towel and went along with her. Later, Kurt explained, or rather asked. "Can you really see me living in a shared dorm room and sharing a bathroom with 19 other men?"

If it were Sebastian, the answer would have been a very easy and excited yes, but he considered that it was Kurt they were talking about. While the eye candy would be nice, no, Sebastian supposed Kurt would have hated sharing a bathroom with 19 men who would be anywhere in cleanliness from Finn or Puck to himself and he would have to deal with more than just one Finn or Puck or even the two of them combined. Even Sebastian when he thought about it was sure he wouldn't like it either.

This way at least, it would be easier for Sebastian to visit and spend the night. They'd get actual privacy. "Can I throw some money toward this place too? Afterall, I'll be there 2/3rds of the weekends give or take. I might as well contribute a share."

Kurt was about to say no but paused and considered Sebastian's words, thankfully. "I am not opposed to that, it could get us a nicer place, closer to work and school."

"You're going to work too?"

"Of course." Of course was right, Sebastian should have known that. "I'm just not sure yet what I'll be doing. I have a varied career history now." He joked as he put a cup of coffee in front of Sebastian. They were at Kurt's but he was serving them breakfast. Burt and Carole were still upstairs, asleep and Finn was at his wife's dads' house. What a weird concept to think about. Though the two had an argument about getting into NYADA.

"When will you have time to see me, then?" Sebastian questioned with a small pout and Kurt leaned forward to kiss it off, not buying it at all anymore.

"I'll make it work." Kurt would too, somehow.

Graduation happened fast after that and they had a McKinley only party, which excluded only exactly one person, Sebastian. Kurt had argued until he was blue in the face, Santana, Brittany and Sam had argued, even Puck said it was cool if Sebastian wanted to come.

Rachel, Finn, Blaine and Tina were adamant that no, he could not. Mercedes and Quinn didn't weigh in at all, already planning their next steps and forgetting all about life in Lima and those that came with it. Most were moving East, Mercedes was moving West. Quinn was moving Northeast and was going to be about an hour away but they'd never see her. The rest were staying in Lima and McKinley for another year.

Santana and Kurt both suggested for Sebastian to show up with Kurt anyway and the others could suck it. Sebastian politely turned down the offer. He didn't want to step on any toes the last time they'd all be together like this. He just asked for Santana to have Kurt's back at the party and make sure Blaine kept his distance. Santana responded that she was planning on it even without his request.

Blaine had tried otherwise but Santana made sure he didn't get his hands all over Kurt. Though as he got drunker it was harder to do. He made more plays to touch Kurt, was harder to shake off or move away or redirect. He was like a homing missile and his target was Kurt. Santana had enlisted Brittany and Sam's help with Blaine but while she was in the bathroom, Sam got distracted by Mercedes and Brittany was trying to get Blaine to go away but he had brushed aside her and clamped on. Kurt was trying to literally push him away, with one hand on the side of Blaine's face and the other picking at the hands locked around his middle. Blaine kissed his hand and leaned forward to kiss more of his flesh.

"We're not together Blaine and even if we were, I don't want this. Get off of me!" Kurt kept his tone casual and straightforward but Santana could see the panic starting to stir within him. He'd never panicked with Blaine's touch before, even in the car. He had to be forceful and direct but never worried Blaine wouldn't listen in the end. Blaine wasn't even touching him inappropriately at this point either but was trying to kiss him.

Santana returned from the bathroom, stopping by Brittany's side and learning that he'd been on Kurt the moment Santana was out of the room. "Puck! Sam!" Santana called out for the boys and both of them while drunk in varying levels themselves appeared at her side, noticing her call for them but not the struggle between the two boys. "Time to take out the trash." Even though Kurt was technically taller than Blaine, he was a lot smaller than him in many ways and looked absolutely tiny near some people. Blaine and Kurt had always looked balanced but tonight that look disappeared.

Puck and Sam moved forward with Santana and she grabbed a hold of Blaine's ear, tugging hard and then pulling on it. Blaine barely noticed it with drunken anesthesia. Sam went for Blaine's hands while Puck wrapped his arms around Blaine's middle and lifted him off the ground.

"What are you doing?" Rachel screeched. "Put him down!"

"Nope." Santana whirled onto the shorter girl. "He's leaving, now."

"I'd rather leave, actually." Kurt was still pressing against Blaine, trying to pull away and break free of those arms.

"You are not leaving. You're going to have fun." Santana hissed.

"Great, more people telling me what to do." Kurt dryly intoned but he didn't argue further. He was freed shortly after and Blaine kept reaching out for him. Kurt breathed a little easier once he put space and a table between him and Blaine. He shrugged off Finn's hand on his shoulder. "I'm fine."

"You're not fine." Santana argued as the other boys dragged Blaine out, ignoring Rachel's protests. "But you will be." She pressed a drink into his hand. "Drink it out."

"That's not a healthy solution." Kurt argued but he took a sip anyway and made a face. Santana tipped the glass up.

"Not all the time but today is supposed to be a celebration. You're going to enjoy tonight, I'm going to make sure you do."

"Don't tell Sebastian about what happened. He's rich but so is Blaine and I'd rather not have to visit my boyfriend in jail."

It took a moment but Santana finally promised.

Sebastian didn't hear about all the details of the party that night until a few years later when Santana 'accidentally' let it slip when Blaine did something else that royally pissed her off. She didn't think through the consequences though.

All Sebastian heard was that Blaine left the party early and Kurt got utterly smashed, threw up in the bathroom and slept curled around the cool toilet in the basement and promising to never drink again. He'd seen him the morning after and thought his squinty face was just so cute, especially as he tried to don dark sunglasses that Sebastian kept stealing so he could see those beautiful blue, green, gray and yellow, and bloodshot eyes. He kept laughing as Kurt scowled at him and stealing his glasses back and putting them back on.

"You're cruel. Why am I with you again?"

"Because I buy you strong coffee." Sebastian handed him his second round. "I take you shopping for new clothes because yours are all wrinkled and thrown up on." He had gone in himself and bought the clothes under Kurt's direction. "I do your hair for you in a way that you wouldn't mind too badly without a pound of hair gel in it. I make you presentable for your father after an underaged night out with your friends and stepbrother who somehow is doing better than you with more alcohol in his bloodstream."

"Finn is twice my size, he can handle more alcohol. Besides, he's not exactly new to it."

Whereas Kurt had only really drank once before and thrown up all over Miss Pillsbury.

"Why did you drink so much if you're such a teetotaler?" Sebastian asked in genuine concern when Kurt just nursed his cup of coffee. Kurt shrugged. "Seriously, Kurt, what happened?"

"Santana thought it would be a good idea." Puck had encouraged him too.

Sebastian frowned. "Santana of course thought it was a good idea, but you've never bowed to their peer pressure before."

"It was graduation night." Kurt shrugged again. "It was a once in a lifetime situation."

"I suppose..." Sebastian continued to watch Kurt though the rest of their date, Kurt did not look good. "Those must have been some strong drinks."

Oh, when Sebastian encountered Santana later that day, she admitted they were very strong. He drank more than any of them had been expecting with his personal history of holding off. He questioned her about why he might and she gave him the same kind of answer Kurt did. It was a celebration.
