Epilogue: Outdaughtered

Just pure fluff here…

"It's a girl." The midwife stated after running the test to determine the sex.

Severus sighed. "Of course, it is."

"Well, the man does determine the sex." Hermione said, egging Severus on.

"I'm already outnumbered as it is." The man huffed.

"Oh, stop your whining." She chided him. "Besides we can try again for a boy if that is what you want." It took much courage for Hermione to say that. After what happened, they were being extra cautious with this pregnancy. They didn't even tell anyone until after her first trimester. They were now a month and a week into her second trimester.

He beamed at her. "I would like that very much."

Shaking her head, she chuckled at him. "You just like the practice as well." She stated.

A clearing of a throat reminded them that they weren't alone, and they dropped their conversation.

Lily after being told that Hermione was carrying a baby girl in her belly had taken to talking to her sister at all times throughout the day. She would even come in first thing in the morning which caused some close calls for Severus and Hermione. Lily had even taught Pandora the word baby which she spoke while pointing to Hermione's stomach. Both parents found it endearing.

The first time Hermione started spotting with this pregnancy, the parents immediately rushed to St Mungo's. Their healer ran tests for them and confirmed that their baby was alive and well. She also reiterated that some spotting was normal with pregnancy.

Severus was very attentive to his wife almost to the point that he was driving his wife crazy. Although Hermione did not complain about the foot rubs when she was in her third trimester.

It was the middle of the night when she felt her first contractions. She didn't want to wake her husband though in case it was another case of Braxton hicks. When her water broke, she knew then that she should wake up her husband.

"Severus." She patted his shoulder. "Severus, wake up!"

He grunted and then rolled away.

"Severus wake up." She shook him again.

"Huh?" Severus slowly blinked his eyes open and then looked over to his wife.

"It's time." She spoke.

"Time?" He questioned and then looked down at the wet spot on the bed. "IT'S TIME!" He yelled, beginning to panic.

"Severus, calm down." Hermione yelled back. "I need you to get dressed and then floo Draco and Susan to watch Lily and Pandora."

He gulped and then took a deep breath. Nodding, he went to his dresser to get dressed.

Slowly getting up, Hermione waved her wand to clean up the mess on the bed and then she did the same with herself. She made her way over to her dresser to get dressed herself.

She heard the floo activated once she was finished getting dressed.

Once Draco and Susan joined them, they exchanged quick pleasantries before Severus went back upstairs to get the go bag. Once ready, they left to go to St. Mungo's.

It was twelve hours of labor, but then Hermione gave birth to a beautiful baby girl that they named Calliope Minerva Snape.

An hour passed before they were descended upon by their family. Minerva brought the Grangers with her. Draco, Astoria and Scorpius came while Susan and Padma brought Lily and Pandora. Everyone fawned over the newborn. They decided to have two godmothers for Calliope and asked Astoria and Padma if they would do the honor. Both accepted quickly.

Severus and Hermione had experience with a newborn, but now they had to navigate being a family of five. It took some time, but they seemed to manage.

Six months after they had their daughter, they decided to try again for the boy that Severus wanted only for him to be slightly disappointed with another girl.

"What if we never have a boy?" Hermione asked.

"Well then I will forever be doomed to be outnumbered by women."

She chuckled at her husband. "We are already outdaughtered as it is."

"Too true. Why did we decide to have kids again?" He asked.

She chuckled, shaking her head. "You love each and every one of our daughters Severus and you spoil each and every one of them. I'm sure you will be fine. And if you want a boy so badly, we could always adopt."

"Don't you think we will have enough already as it is when you give birth to this little one?" He asked, stroking her stomach.

"Well, I never thought that I would have as many kids as the Weasley's even though we are not there yet. However, I am happy with the life that was dealt to me. As much as I still miss Harry and Luna, would we have even gotten together if we weren't named as guardians of Lily and Pandora?"

Kissing his wife's neck, he sighed. "I'm sure that things would have worked out eventually. I can't imagine my life any other way now."

She placed a sweet kiss on his lips. "Me either."

"I love you Hermione Snape."

"And I love you Severus Snape."

"And I love you both." Lily interjected running and jumping on the bed right in the middle of the Snapes. "Just like I love mommy and daddy in heaven."

Hugging their daughter to them, they smiled. "We love you Lily and you Pandora." They said, noticing that Pandora came into the room as well. She joined them on the bed. Hermione grabbed Calliope from her crib so that all the family was together on the bed.

"Now this is the life." Severus sighed contently.

"Yes, the life as we know it."

The End
