AN: just wanting to say, welcome to chapter 4! where we finally, kind of get a glimpse into what yugi and the gang are up to. before we get to the chapter, a quick clarification, because i see it becoming a problem well ahead of time. yes, this still takes place in Battle city, but its pretty close to the end. in my own mind, Kaiba more than likely expected the tournament to last, maybe a week (considering the blimp ride and all to the tower) so i would not be surprised if the tournament Qualifiers took at least a week as well. so! i have it to where all the crazy stuff with Marik, Yugi, and joey has come and gone. its maybe two days before the semi-finals. also, yes, Ramzie will participating in the Battle City tournament. how does he get six locator cards? well, just wait and see. ALSO FINALLY WE HAVE A MAIN YUGIOH CHARACTER IN THE TAGS FOR THE STORY! I KNOW, ITS A MIRACAL.

Now than, onto the fiction; just like normal, i don't own yugioh. the only thing i own is Ramzie and the Rest of the time force (if they ever show up!)

Chapter 4: New Friends

For Yugi Muto, the battle city tournament wasn't exactly what he would call, 'fun'. So far, his friends have been hurt, kidnapped, and brain washed. So when he got a phone call from his grandfather telling him he had someone he wanted yugi and his friends to meet at the game store, he was on the defensive.

"do you think Marik would attack Grandpa?" yugi asked out loud. To the normal person, it would simply be someone talking to themselves, but to yugi, he was speaking to the spirit of the millennium puzzle. A being that was trapped in the puzzle that looked just like yugi, but a little taller and bright Red eyes. Yugi himself stood out, with large spiky black hair with a purple high light that stood on the edge of it. Through out his hair where streaks of gold, mostly in the shape of lightning. His eyes, where purple, unlike the trapped spirit.

"i think he would. Marik has shown that he is not afraid to attack those we care about." the spirit spock, his voice low and calculating. Yugi could see the form of the ancient pharaoh. His arms where crossed and his face was unreadable. "we must remain vigilante."

"right, its better to be ready just encase this is one of Mariks goons." Yugi said, determined. If it was one of Mariks rare hunters, than he needed to be ready. The golden pyramid shaped puzzle that was hanging from the silver chain around his neck glowed bright for a second and the two beings swapped placed. Yugi's purple coat that he had been wearing hung off of the pharaohs shoulders, a black tank top showing under neath. His black leather pants seemed to become a tighter fit then they once where.

Then he began walking back to the game store. As he walked, his friends managed to locate him and began running to him.

"yugi!" a young female shouted, her voice carrying over to him. Yami stopped and turned. There was his and yugi's best friends. Tea Gardner, Tristan Taylor, and Joey Wheeler. Tea was taller then yugi was, but not as tall as joey or Tristan. She was wearing a bright green button up sleeveless shirt and a black skirt. She had on white thigh high socks and blue shoes. Tristan was wearing a dark brown coat that looked rather tight on him, with a white under shirt. He was also wearing a pair of black pants and a belt. Joey was currently in his favorite navy blue coat with his white and blue under shirt. He was also wearing a pair of bright blue skinny jeans.

"Finally caught up with ya, man." Joey said, all of them looking out of breath. Yami turned to them and nodded.

"My apologize. I did not realize you where behind me." he said.

Tea and Tristan nodded in response to what he said. They all noticed the fact that the pharaoh was currently in control, but didn't really say anything about it. Instead they wanted to ask something else.

"hey, Yug. Did your Grandpa call ya?" Joey asked, his voice full of concern. Yami gave him a nodded.

"did he call you all as well?" he asked, his voice confused.

Joey nodded and Tristan shrugged. "honestly, I was with him when he got his call." Tristan said.

"i had just gotten off the phone with Mr. Muto when I say Joey and Tristan and then joey got the call. Honestly its really weird for Mr. Muto to call out of the blue like this. Especially with the battle city Tournament going on and all." Tea said, her voice full of worry. "you don't think Mariks behind this, do you?"

Joey clenched his fist in anger. Its only been a day sense what happened to him and yugi down at the docks and he was still upset about it. I mean, who wouldn't be though? "i bet the creep has something to do with this! He seems to be messin' with everything we've been dealing with! Plus, it would be just like him to try and start something right before the finals!"

Yami nodded. He diffidently agreed with joey. Marik has been apart of almost everything that has gone on with this crazy tournament and it doesn't seem like its going to end anytime soon. The little group began walking again towards Kame Games, all of them looking ready for a fight. Once they arrived at the game store, they all watched as they saw Mokuba exiting the game store with roland right behind him.

"Mokuba?" yami questioned out loud. "what is he doing here?"

"don't know, but lets find out!" joey said, running ahead of the group.

"wait, JOEY! Don't run in front of use!" tristan and Tea shouted, almost at the same time. The three of them began running as the door to the game shop closed and mokuba noticed the four friends running to him. "oh, hey guys!"

as the group got closer, tristan and managed to hold joey back from just entering the game store as tea began conversation, "hey mokuba!" Tea started, "whats going on?"

Mokuba looked up to them and smiled. "i had a run in with a guy from out of town. His duel disk wasn't registered, so I had to get it set up for him and found out his deck was ruined. So I brought him here."

Joey continued to struggle against tristan, but you could see he was frustrated, "and you didn't think he was one of Mariks Rare hunters? They kidnapped you and tea! I thought you where smarter than that!" he practically shouted. Mokuba frowned before turning to Roland.

"That's why Roland has been with me sense that happened. Seto ordered him to not leave my side or he was fired." Mokuba said, a smile was practically covered his face from ear to ear.

tea put a finger on her chin in thought before finally saying, "that diffidently sounds like Kaiba, no surprises really."

Yami nodded, though something still seemed off. If it was a rare hunter, why would they have an unregistered duel disk? It seemed as if most of the rare hunters they encountered where still blending in, trying not to get noticed. Didn't make it any less suspicious. "do you think he's connected to Marik in any way?" he asked. If nothing else, he needed to make sure.

Mokuba shook his head. "i don't think so. The guy doesn't even have a deck ready. Him and Mr. Muto have been working on getting a deck built together." Mokuba then looked up in thought. "you know, most of those rare hunters that I have seen have this creepy vibe about them, but I don't feel that around this guy. Once you meet him you'll understand."

it was only a matter of time before Tristan lost his grip on joey, and it was right than that he lost it. Joey went flying forward, grabbing a hold of the door handle of the game store and opening the door. Once he stepped through, he expected to see someone holding Mr. Muto at gunpoint or someone who looked ready for a brawl. He did not expect to see a twenty year old man kneeling in front of one of the glass display cases pointing at one of cards in it and saying, "that would be a great win condition, don't you think?"

the rest of the foursome where right behind joey, and shocked to see the same thing. The man turned, his bright emerald eyes widening. He stood up straight before giving a light bow. "hello! You must be Mr. Mutos grandson! My name is Ramzie, its nice to meet you."

Yami stepped forward, ducking around joey as he did so. "that would be me." Ramzies eyes darted over to yugi and his eyes immediately darted away. Almost like he couldn't make eye contact with Yugi. This made Yamis eyes narrow.

"oh, I'm sorry about the mix up." Ramzie said, finally turning to look Yugi in the eyes. Yami's piercing gazed stared through him as he began analyzing the man. It was clear he was nervous, but the most suspicious thing was, he knew exactly who he was. When the four of them had entered, this mans eyes had gone to him first before saying his greeting to Joey.

"yes, well im glad you all made it! Mokuba and I where talking to this young man about a potential sponsorship, but I need someone to test his skills against." Grandpa said, pointing to a stack of cards that where on the counter.

"are you sure about this grandpa?" Yami said, though it was weird for it to come from his mouth. Normally Yugi interacted with Solomon Muto, so this was a new experience for him. Solomon nodded before once more speaking up, "we decided that it would just be a fun game off to the side, like we use to when I was teaching you how to play the game, Yugi. No tournament, nothing official. I just want to see how his skills match up.

"then I'll duel/ I'll take him on!" Yami and Joey said at the same time. The both looked at one another, surprised at one another, but it didn't last long. Even if it was unofficial, that didn't mean Marik wasn't behind it. They had to be careful. Solomon watched the two practically had a silent conversation between one another. He was so proud of his Grandson, having friends like these three.

Tristan lend down and whispered in tea's ear, "im going to go give duke a call. Let him know this is where we are. He might get worried." tea nodded and watched as Tristan exited the store.

"i don't mind dueling both of you, if it would set your mind at ease. We could play one round against one of you and then the next after that. I personally don't mind." Ramzie said, making things a little simpler for the two.

"Perfect! Then ill go first if ya don't mind Yug." Joey said, grabbing his deck out of his deck box.

"just be careful." Yami said before allowing Yugi to take over. If joey was going to duel first, yugi was better at cheering his friend on then Yami was.

Solomon smiled before walking to the front door. "if we are going to have a couple of games, let me close up shop. I want to actually see them!" he said. His old frame seemed to practically jump to life as he walked to the front door and flip the sign closed. "ill open it back up once where done. You know the way to the table."

Yugi nodded before leading the large group together. He was nervous. Obviously, but something about this guy was sending mixed messages. He was polite, but had just appeared out of no where. He was very suspicious and it was really hard to ignore it with everything that was going on. 'then again,' Yugi thought to himself, 'dueling may reveal his true intentions.'

()

Ramzie was Terrified. As much as he was keeping his cool right know, he was about to face against the king of games and the third best duelist of this time period and with a deck he just got made up. He didn't know if this was going to work, but he really hoped it would. As Yugi lead theme into a room with a table and a couple of couches in front of a tv, Ramzie noticed that this must be there living space. 'it looks nice, at least.' he thought to himself. Once they knelt down at the table joey began shuffling his deck.

"hope ya ready, bud. Because your about to tango with the runner up at duelist kingdom!" joey boosted. As ramzie shuffled he couldn't help but notice that every one was on edge. He may know some history, but he didn't know it all. All he knew was the battle city tournament was important. As the two where shuffling up there decks, Solomon arrived just in time for the two to start the duel. He sat down across from yugi and tea, who where sitting close to the table. with the decks placed on the table the duel was ready to go.

Dueling System Activating

Ramzie VS Joey

Starting life totals: 4000

Starting Hand Size: 5

Turn one draw: Yes

"ill start us off!" joey said. "first ill draw for turn and Set one card face down. Then ill play Axe Raider in Attack mode!" he placed the card down on the table, the card had a picture of a man with an axe in had and a iron chest plate.

Axe Raider 1700 Attack and 1100 Defense

Warrior/ Normal

"that will do for my turn." joey said, looking rather proud of himself.

"thats not a bad start for joey." tea said, looking at the board, though she sounded nervous. Yugi nodded, though he looked more nervous, "true, but lets see his opponents turn.

Turn 1 End Ramzie 4000 VS Joey 4000

Ramzie drew his card for turn and looked at his hand. Nobleman of Extermination, Tainted Wisdom, Bottomless Trap Hole, Swords of Revealing light, and Pot of greed. The card he drew was a 7 colored fish, which was bigger than joeys axe raider. "alright then, guess ill start by firing off my pot of greed." Ramzie said, placing the spell card in his graveyard and drawing two new ones from the deck, Darklord Marie and a Polymerization. "ill activate from my hand Nobleman of Extermination. This card banishes one spell or trap on the board and if its a trap, all copy's are banished from both of our decks. Ill chose your face down." joey had a dumb founded look on his face as he flipped over his Magical Arm Shield Trap.

"oh no." yugi whispered to himself. Having played the game for a long time he knew what Ramzie's deck was some form of control deck. Normally, an opponent will open with a certen style of play. Normally a control player disrupts the opponents field before the play anything (just like Ramzie did). An agro, or aggressive player would normally play the monster first before effecting the field, that way they can start setting up an attack from the monster, while a balanced player would normally start the game by setting there field up before effecting anything. These three play styles can easly be swapped out depending on the deck, but you can tell what kind of player your dealing with just based off of there opening move.

"next ill place one card face down and summon the 7 Colored fish in attack mode." Ramzie said, placing the fish in question down on the battle field.

7 Colored fish 1800 Attack and 800 Defense

Fish/ Normal

"know, go to battle." Ramzie declared, kind of glade that he was in this older era of dueling. He didn't really have to worry about hand traps. "ill have the 7 Colored fish attack your Axe Raider."

7 Colored Fish 1800 attack VS Axe Raider 1700 Attack = 100 Life points

Joey 4000 – 100 = 3900

ramzie looked over his hand for a second before sighing. "that's it, its your turn." ramzie said. 'I am really wishing I had my old deck right know. I would be doing so much more by now.' he thought to himself bitterly.

Turn 2 End Ramzie 4000 VS Joey 3900

"that's rough." Tea said to herself, staring at Joeys empty field. Yugi nodded as joey started his turn. He drew his card and frowned. "everything alright, Joey?" Yugi asked. If nothing else, it was clear what was in Joey's hand had to be pretty bad.

Joey turned to Yugi before nodding. He had some things in hand, but it really was not that good. "here goes nothing. Ill place one card face down and one monster in face down defensive. Not much else I can do."

Turn 3 End Ramzie 4000 VS Joey 3900

Ramzie nodded before drawing his card for turn. Forgiving maiden. In combination with the Darklord Marie, Ramzei could summon a pretty strong monster on board. Ramzie looked up at the board and frowned. He didn't exactly feel comfortable with special summoning a monster that could get blown back by a random trap hole or a flip monster. Better be careful and just play the maiden as a defender. "ill place one monster face down defensive and got to battle phase."

"Now, I shall have my 7 Color Fish attack your face down!" Ramzie said, pointing to the face down. Joey cringed a bet before flipping the Flame Manipulator up.

Flame Manipulator 900 Attack and 1000 Defense

Spellcaster/ Normal

7 Color Fish 1800 Attack VS Flame Manipulator 1000 Defense = 0 Life Points

joey grabbed his face down card and flipped it over. "once Flame Manipulator is destroyed, Ill activate my trap card, Time machine! When a monster on the field is destroyed, it returns back to the battle field it was on prier. So I will be able to bring my Flame manipulator back to the battle field." to which he then placed the flame manipulator back onto the battle field in defense mode.

Ramzie frowned before looking down at his hand, entering his second main phase, he didn't really have much to do. "go ahead."

Turn 4 end Ramzie 4000 VS Joey 3900

Joey Drew his card for turn and his face broke into a smile, "All right! This is perfect! Im going to sacrifice my Flame manipulator in order to summon Jinzo!" he placed the Flame Manipulator into his graveyard and placed the monster onto the table. On the card was a rather large man with a gas mask that seemed to be steched to his face. His clothes where dark green with a neon green shoulder shield.

Jinzo 2400 Attack and 1500 Defense
Machine/ Effect

Ramzie looked down at the monster joey had just summoned and could feel a cold sweat forming. Bottomless Trap Hole was worthless against Jinzo. Jinzo's effect shut down trap card activations. 'just destroy my fish. Its in attack mode, its the best target to attack.'

Joeys smile grew even wider as he announced, "Jinzo! Destroy his 7 Colored Fish!"

Jinzo 2400 Attack VS 7 Colored Fish 1800 Attack = 600 Life points
Ramzie: 4000 – 600 = 3400 Life Points

"Good job joey!" Tea said, a smile on her face. "that was a great move!"

While placing the 7 Color Fish into the graveyard, ramzie wanted nothing more than to sigh with relief. As long as he still had the maiden on the field he was fine. He had the dark lord in his hand as well as the polymerization, but Ramzie wanted a little more in terms of card advantage. He was up 4 cards to his opponent, but only a hand full of them where really any good and it took three cards to make his stronger monsters.

Turn 5 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 3900

He drew his card for turn. Solemn Wishes, another trap. Ramzie shock his head before grabbing two cards from his hand. "first ill place one card face down." he placed the card down upon the table, taking the second card and placing it face up, "and then ill activate the swords of revealing light."

as the duel was progressing, yugi was having a mental conversation with the Yami, the alternative title they had dubbed for the dark spirit of the millennium puzzle. "hes good, but something doesn't feel right." yugi said, his voice only heard by the spirit in question.

"agreed. He doesn't seem malicious, but that doesn't mean hes not working for Marik." Yami responded, though he sounded uncertain. Something that Yugi immediately picked up on.

"whats wrong?" Yugi said as he watched the duel progress.

The spirit seemed lost in thought before he turned to the boy that was dueling against Joey. "something seems wrong, as if hes not suppose to be here. It feels as if his presence here was forced upon him, rather than his own will."

yugi turned his head, looking at the Pharroah head on. "how could you possibly now that?"

Yami turned from Ramzie and turned to his partner. "Because of the way he holds himself. Before the duel, he seemed to be acting like he wasn't suppose to be there. He intentionally confused joey for us. But the most damning evidence is the duel itself."

Yugi turned back to the game in question before turning back to the pharaoh. Joey had just played jinzo and was about to destroy Ramzie's fish. "what would that be?"

"he lost himself to the game." Yami said, pointing to Ramzie's face. Yugi looked at where Yami was pointing and saw what he was talking about. "he has become so focused on his cards, everything else doesn't matter. He hasn't said a word other than what he is doing per turn."

"its like he wants to lose himself into it. To ignore everything else and focus on the duel in front of him." Yugi finished. He could feel a little sad at the thought. To be so absorbed into the game that you forget everything else. Then again, it was only a hunch, but it seemed logical.

Back in the duel, Ramzie's eyes where becoming a bit fuzzy before he closed them for a second. His mind was wondering, but he keep trying to drag it back into the game. 'I have to stay focused.' he sighed before placing his cards onto the table . "your go."

Turn 6 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 3900

Swords of Revealing light Turns: 3 Remaining

joey nodded, though he was in the lead, something was up with his opponent. He might not be the wisest, but he did know when someone was struggling with themselves. 'but just because I recognize that, doesn't mean im going to go easier on him.' joey thought to himself before drawing his next card. "because of ya swords of revealing light, im just going to end my turn. Not much I can do, really."

Turn 7 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 3900
Swords of Revealing Light Turns: 2 Remaining

Ramzie drew his next card and smiled. The magician of faith. Ramzie turned to the other people at the table, a look of worry on his face. "um, would any of you know where I could get a dice or some counters of some kind?" the table was confused at first before Yugi stood up and walked over to an end table next to the wall. He opened it and grabbed a bag from within it. Walking back, Ramzie got a good look at the bag. It was purple, with an eqiption eye etched in gold thread. Needless to say, it looked really fancy. Upon returning to the table, Yugi opened it and pulled out a regular six sided dice. It was a sparkling purple with bright silver pips. "will this work?" Yugi asked, handing the D6 over. Ramzie nodded before placing the die on to the swords of revealing light a single silver pip facing up.

"one turn with swords active." Placing the newly drawn monster into defense mode he smiled before saying, "I'm hoping this works for me. Go ahead."

Turn 8 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 3900
Swords of Revealing light Turns: 2 Remaining

Joey drew his card for turn, but he was staring at Ramzies face. The card he drew must have been crazy if he was so confident. Well, best to set up defense if nothing else. "sense I cant attack, ill just put this card in defense mode and end my turn. No point wasten time."

Ramzie raised his eyebrow at that move, but just shook it off. If joey had some way of destroying the swords, he would have done so. Guess he wasn't lying about not wanting to wast time.

Turn 9 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 3900
Swords of Revealing Light Turns: 1 Remaining

Ramzie drew his and grinned. "well, im about to help your life total a little bit." he started, making sure to up the pip on the dice to two for his swords of revealing light. "I'm activating the magic card, Upstart Goblin!" he said, placing the card onto the table. In the card art was a frail old man begging to some kind of goblin king. "you gain 1000 life points and I get to draw a card."

Joey 3900 + 1000 = 4900

as Ramzie was drawing, joey had a look of confusion on his face. "wait, why would you give me life points? Just to draw one measly card?"

"like your any better, joey. Most of your cards are based off of coin flips and dice rolls." Tea said, loud enough for the table to hear. Ramzie didn't even budge at the joke. This all felt to weird for him. He hadn't dueled just for fun in a long time and that felt wrong to him. He looked down at the card he had drawn off of upstart goblin. Spear Cretin. Its normally a good card to use, but how it works is it would allow both of them to special summon a monster from there graveyard. Ramzie didn't exactly have a good target for that yet, so he was going to wait on that. He looked up at joey and announced,"im going to flip summon the magician of faith." he said, flipping over the monster in face-down defensive. "once my magician is flipped over, im allowed to add a spell card from my graveyard to my hand. So ill get greedy and take my pot of greed back." he said, pulling the magic card from the graveyard.

Yugi was nodding to himself, making a mental note on exactly what Ramzie had in his graveyard. If nothing else, the pot of greed was the only choice out of the three spells he had in there. One did nothing and the other helped his opponent. Not exactly an incentive to take either one over the pot of greed.

Once the card was back into ramzie's hand, he had no problems one placing it down again. "activating pot of greed." he then drew his two cards from his deck, remembering again why pot of greed was banned in his time period. Chain Energy and Witch of the black forest. Great. "ill place this card face down and call it there." he said, placing the chain energy face down. It wasn't until after joey drew his card that Ramzie realized that he hadn't played a monster for his turn.

Turn 10 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 4900

Swords of Revealing light Turns: 1 Remaining

Joey drew his next card and his face broke out into one of the biggest grins ramzie had ever seen. Joey immediately placed the card face down and looked up at Ramzie. "your turn, man. Last turn on your swords of revealing light."

Ramzie sighed, placing the swords into his graveyard to indicate that the swords where know spent.

Turn 11 end Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 4900
Swords of Revealing Light Turns: Effect Ends

Ramzie drew his card for turn. It was a pretty good top deck if things went the right way. seeing as how his swords had just ended, this might give him the boost he needed. "first things first, im going to turn my Magician of faith into defense mode and set a monster face down defensive." Ramzie placed the witch in the middle of his board, right between his maiden and the magician, trying to make it a tempting target. "Next im activating the magic card, reasoning!" he placed the card in his spell and trap zone.

"what does that do?" Joey asked, his face contorted with confusion.

Ramzie smiled, "its a fun card, here's how it works. You call a number for a monster card. I then proceed to send the top card of my deck to the graveyard until I hit a normal summon able monster. If its level is equal to the number you called, it stays right where it is, but if you guess wrong, I get to special summon it." ramzie said.

Joey had a look of shock on his face before looking down at the card itself. "man, why am I not using this card?"

Tea smiled a little, "probably because you didn't know it existed."

joey just glared at her before turning back to the duel. It wasn't the fact that it was true that stung. Thinking for a moment, joey finally announce, "Level 4 Monster. It seems to be the safest level to go for." Ramzie nodded before tossing cards from the top of his deck. More accurately, the single card from the top of the deck. Another copy of the 7 Colored Fish.

Ramzie's head fell down wards in disappointment. He had the out to Jinzo, but he didn't know what else was in joeys deck, so he was playing it safe, but if this keeps up he wasn't going to have a choice in the matter. As for joey? He was dancing, "Alright! Seems like Lady lucks still with me!"

Ramzie sighed before tossing the Reasoning card into his graveyard. That card was in Dragon Eyes to, but that deck had a lot more in terms of level variety. "well, that didn't work. Ill just activate chain energy and pass my turn."

Yugis eye widened out for a split second before he caught himself. Chain energy was a very powerful card. Especially with the life point total for a starting duel was 4000. chain energy forces one to be more strategic with what they play seeing as it eats at the life total super quick.

Joey looked at the card in question for a split second before shacking his head. He had heard about this card while out and about. A lot of duelist where getting shut down by this card.

Turn 12 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 4900

joey drew his card, than proceeded to take his face down monster from the table and placed it in the graveyard. "ill take 500 life points, sacrificing my Satsuke Samurai in order to play my fiend mega cyber!" joey announced, a large grin plastered on his face.

Joey 4900 – 500 = 4400

Fiend Mega Cyber 2200 Attack and 1200 Defense

"sense your swords is gone, I can attack!" Joey said pointing at his red-eyes, "Fiend Mega Cyber will attack the middle monster!"

Fiend Mega Cyber 2200 Attack VS Witch of the Black Forest 1200 Defense

Ramzie flipped it over revealing the witch of the black forest. "when the Witch of the Black forest is destroyed, I can add a monster from my deck with 1500 or less defense." ramzie picked up his deck and began flipping through it. He had an idea on one possible out come, he was just hoping it would work. Pulling a card from the middle of the deck he placed it down on the table before he started shuffling his deck. One pass, two pass, three pass. With each pass, the plan began to formulate. He could win this in just a couple of turns, but it could possibly back fire on him, looking down at the chain energy he himself played. 'I was skeptical of wither I should play this card or not. Now I have my answer.' Ramzie placed his deck in the middle of the table and announced, "Presenting for the tap or cut."

Joeys head fell side ways, staring at Ramzie like he was a Nut job. "Tap or cut what?" Joey asked. Tea rolled her eyes before leaning over to joey, "have you seriously forgotten? When your dueling this close to your opponent, you cut there cards. You know, take a part of there deck and split it?"

joey had a look of realization before his face became sheepish. At duelist kingdom, the duel terminals where to large for the opponent to have to cut there opponents cards, so the machines where built to do it for you. Even the duel disks did. Joey began scratching the back of his head in embarrassment before saying, "sorry bout that! Im so use to there being a system that does that for ya. Considering that im usually in duels that take place bout 6 feet away from my opponent." Ramzie nodded. Trying to keep his face as blank as possible.

joey took one half of ramzies deck and placed it at the bottom of the other half, cutting the deck. After that, ramzie replaced the deck back where it was prior and revealed his monster, "the ancient brain."

Joey looked at the card for a moment before narrowing his eyes. It was a normal monster with rather lack luster states. Why would he be going for that card? If nothing else, he needed to get rid of that magician. If he had some way of flipping that card over some how, joey knew he would be stuck behind them Swords again and he would rather avoid that. "well, ill have jinzo destroy your magician of faith!"

Jinzo 2400 Attack VS Magician of Faith 300 Defense = 0 Life points

joey smiled to himself as he ended his turn.

Turn 13 End Ramzie 3400 VS Joey 4400

Ramzie drew his card for turn, Call of the Haunted. A trap. Looking at the field, Ramzie sighed. 'lets hope this work.' ramzie took the polymerization from his hand and placed it on the battle field. "ill pay 1000 life points to activate polymerization!"

Ramzie 3400 – 1000 = 2400

Joeys eyes widened. He knew well how polymerization worked, seeing as how it was a main stay in Yugi's deck. Joey had used the card multiple times him self, though not nearly like Yugi. His strongest fusion monster was thousand dragon while his weakest was the flame swords man, his favorite monster. "so, what are ya fusing?" Joey asked, though he looked concerned.

Ramzie drew the Dark lord marie from his hand and precedent it, "im going to fuse my Darklord Marie and the forgiving maiden that's on my battle field," Ramzie said, flipping over his last face down monster. "so I can summon, ST. Joan!" putting the two monsters into the graveyard and playing the Fusion monster from the extra deck or as it was known back then, the fusion deck.

ST. Joan 2800 Attack and 2000 Defense

Fairy/ Fusion

"wow! That card has a huge attack state! It completely dwarfs my jinzos!" Joey said, realization slowly sinking in. without jinzo, Ramzie can activate his traps once more.

"i'll have Joan attack your fiend mega cyber!" Ramzie declared, pointing right at the fiend.

"What!" the others at the table announced, joey and tea where confused, Yugi was baffled, and Solomon was delighted. "why would ya attack my Mega Cyber? If ya destroy my jinzo, you have access to your traps again!" Ramzie smirked. If nothing else, it was best if Joey didn't know what he was thinking. His turn was just about done.

ST. Joan 2800 Attack VS Fiend Mega Cyber 2200 = 600 Life points

Joey 4900 – 600 = 4300 Life points

"for my second main phase, ill take 500 points off my life total so I can set a card. Go ahead." Joey had a look of worry on his face as Ramzie ended his turn. He was going to need a miracle to win. The fusion monster was the biggest monster in play!

Ramzie 2400 – 500 = 1900

Turn 14 End Ramzie 1900 VS Joey 4300

As joey drew his card for turn, he couldn't help, but give a shout, "of the top, baby!" he announced before slamming a card down on the table. The card gave a little bounce as it hit the table, but what was revealed on it was horrifying to ramzie. "ill activate the Shield & Sword magic card! Its pretty easy what it does, it flips the attack and defense of all the monsters on the battle field!" joey was grinning from ear to ear as he said. "know, I don't have a monster that can get over your Saint, but I do have a monster that can match it. Ill summon panther warrior, taking the 500 for summoning it!"

Joey 4300 – 500 = 3800 Life ponts

Panther Warrior 2000 Attack and 1600 Defense

Beast-Warrior/ Effect

Joey placed the card on the table next to his jinzo. He was so excited, if only he was going to be able to destroy that fusion monster. "know than, in the battle phase, panther warrior requires a sacrifice to attack, so ill sacrifice jinzo and have panther Warrior Crash into you Joan."

Ramzie frowned. Can't really stop that. As the two players placed the cards into there respective grave yards, Ramzie was smiling to him self. He had a way of getting her back. "welp." joey started, looking pleased, "thats my turn."

Turn 15 End Ramzie 1900 VS Joeys 3800

Ramzie drew his card for turn which was another copy of swords of revealing light, not the best card. "ill take another thousand life points to set one card, and then activate the trap card, call of the haunted!" flipping the trap over, revealing the card in question. "the monster ill return? ST. Joan!" once more the fusion monster was onto the table as he pulled it from his graveyard. Again, that chain energy was causing some major problems.

Ramzie 1900 – 1000 = 900

with the Saint back onto the battle field, joey began to sweat. He had no monsters or any way to retrieve them from his graveyard. If that monster attacked him more than once, he was done for. "know my Saint will attack you directly."

Joey sighed as his life points dropped a significant amount.

Joey 3800 – 2800 = 1000 Life points

Ramzie sighed in relief. He was hoping that that face down wasn't anything to worry about and it seemed he was right, at least. "that's my turn."

Turn 16 End Ramzie 900 VS Joey 1000

"wow, this duel is so close, you can do it joey!" Tea said. She had no idea how Joey would get out of this mess, but she was sure her friend would find a way. Unfortunately, as joey drew his next card, his face fell. "i've got nothing. The card I just drew won't help me hear." Ramzie smiled, his head slowly beginning to ache. This duel is so close to its conclusion. "go ahead, ramzie."

Turn 17 End Ramzie 900 VS Joey 1000

Ramzie drew his card, but didn't bother looking at it. "then ill just have St. Joan attack you directly and end this duel."

Joey nodded as he placed his hand upon the table. A polymerization and his insect queen.

Duel End! Winner by decreasing the opponents life total; Ramzie!

"what was your face down?" Ramzie asked.

Joey flipped over his card, the Grave robber. "the problem with using grave robber is that 2000 life point cost. That's partially why I kept my life so high through out the duel, I figured you would play one of your cards that would help me. Didn't really come up." Joey sighed before saying, "i wanted to see what you would do on your turn before I stoll something from you. Only you brought your monster back and dropped my life points down so much, I couldn't pay for it."

Ramzie sighed, picking up his new deck. He couldn't help but feel impressed with how the deck turned out. If nothing else, the speed of the deck was questionable, but if he can get the proper cards, he shouldn't have a problem. Unfortunately, that was the problem with dueling. It never failed that when you needed them, the cards where normally at the bottom of your deck. Ramzie smiled a bit, it was funny. He went from a large dragon being his ace monster and turning to a Fairy monster as his Ace. It wasn't much, but ST. Joan had a pretty high attack, sitting at a pretty 2800 wasn't anything to scoff at. However, he had to remove the chain energy from the deck.

"MAN!" joey shouted, running his hands through his hair, "i almost had you! If I had some way of stopping your call of the haunted, I could have won this!"

Tea smiled sympathetically. Joey wasn't the best when it came to losing. "it's alright, joey. At least it wasn't a official duel for the battle city tournament." she said.

Yugi nodded before turning to Ramzie. "i think we will have to wait on our duel, Ramzie." he said. As much as Yugi wanted to duel, he had to get back to the battle city tournament. "we need to get going. This was a fun distraction, but we have to get back to the battle city tournament, the semi-finals are in a couple of days and we can't miss it."

Tea and Joey nodded. The three of them stood preparing to leave. As they started making there way out, Solomon stood and walked over to Ramzie. "well, I must say. I was quite impressed." Ramzie stood, turning to the elder man. " Mokuba left this behind for you if I decided to sponsor you." Solomon said, holding up a clear card with some kind of scrape of a page inside. Solomon presented the card to Ramzie, a smile clear on his face.

"wait..." Ramzie started, a small smile slowly spreading across his face. He reached out with his hand and it was slightly shacking. For some reason, when the duel ended, Ramzie was beginning to fell a bit tired, like his energy had been zapped from him.

Solomon nodded, handing the card to Ramzie. "you did quite well. As mokuba said before I called them here, I trained young Joseph my self. He has gotten better sense those days, mind you, but he still has room to improve." Solomon closed his, sighing softly at the memory. Training Yugi was some of Solomon's favorite memories. However, when Yugi faced against Kaiba the first time, Solomon had felt as if he had nothing else to teach Yugi. So once Yugi and joey asked him to train joey, he couldn't help but feel nostalgic. Solomon smiled at the memory's before he opened his eyes once more. "i would ask you one thing, as a duelist I am sponsoring, I want you to be a friendly rival to Yugi and joey. What I mean to say, those two are dealing with something a little out of there depths, I fell. I want you to assist them in any way you can."

Ramzie nodded, though slowly. He looked down for a second before sighing. "you know, if I end up dueling them, I wont go easy on them." he said. His voice was wavering slightly. As much as he liked Solomon, he couldn't in good conscious take it easy on someone in a duel. Though he probably wont get the chance, as according to Yugi, the Semi-Finals where coming up and ramzie had to try and get there in two days? Not happening.

Solomon shook his head. "im not asking you to. What I am asking you to do, is be helpful, if they ask for it, but if you have to duel them, I want you to push them to there limits. Its the only way for them to improve on themselves." Solomon shook his head slightly. "i wish I could say this in a way that would make sense, but to simplify, I want you to push them as a duelist, but treat them like friends."

Ramzie thought about it for only a second. He really shouldn't be indulging this. If he did anything to mess with the time line, he was in trouble, but if he didn't he might not have a way home. He took the locator card from Solomon. Once in Ramzies hand, it felt heavy. His mind was in turmoil. As he held the card in his grip, he could feel it shaking again. Ramzie stood up, before bowing to Solomon. "i will do what I can. Thank you for this opportunity."

Solomon smiled, though he could see once more that Ramzie was struggling. He couldn't place his finger on what it was about the boy, but he couldn't help seeing right through the tough act he was wearing. Solomon could tell it wasn't malicious. If anything, it was hiding a sadness that Solomon couldn't quite place.

As Ramzie turned. He placed a handful of cards from his deck onto the table. "i have the cards to replace these cards, at least." leaving the two chain energy's from his deck. As useful as they where, his deck had no need for them. Plus he had an idea on what to replace them with. "do you have an Dekoichi's on hand by the by?"

AN: so ya, that was the duel between Joey and Ramzie. Yes I did the actual duel. It took me a handful of games to get a fairly back and forth game. The first handful of attempts ended up with one or the other just squashing one another. It was kind of funny until I got to this game. It was super close. Like, if I had used call of the haunted early, joey could have won or if joey had gotten some kind of card draw, he could have refilled his hand. I don't know if you guys want the deck list or not, but its honestly kind of bad to start. Mostly because the deck was from a Progression game my cousin and I where doing. After Invasion of chaos, the deck became extremely strong, to the point that my cousin is still on a losing streak and where just about done with the GX sets (I'm not kidding). So, I decided to start cherry picking some of the stronger cards of the deck that Ramzie would earn through dueling. As for the card choice is rather simple. When I built the deck, I said to my self that I wanted to focus on fusion summoning. Original deck was full of fusions, like the skull knight card or ST. Joan. For instance, ST. Joan was my ace for most of the sets until I got the Cyber dragons in Cybernetic revelations where I managed to get 2 Cyber dragons and a twin Cyber dragon. Needless to say, my cousin doesn't really like my decks.
