3ª P.O.V.
After leaving Diana and Kate at their apartment, Matthew and Marcus walked to the lab.
"What do you think you're doing?" Matthew questioned Marcus angry.
"What are you talking about?" Marcus asked him confused.
"Kate" Matthew said only.
"She is nice. I would like to be her friend" Marcus said sincerely and added defensively "At least, I'm not just using her to get a book".
Matthew growled to Marcus stopping in front of him "I'm not using her!" he said between teeth.
"I really hope so. They are too good for that" Marcus said calmer, knowing that the best he could do was stand down.
After this small exchange between the men, they walked in silence and when they finally arrived to the laboratory the tension didn't pass unnoticed to Miriam who only raised on of her eyebrows.
Matthew sat in front of her and said "I asked Dr. Williams for her curriculum".
Miriam raised her head and questioned her boss angry "Why did you do that? We don't need anyone else" and added with contempt "Especially not a human".
Marcus who was quietly leaned to a table far from Miriam and Matthew defended "There's nothing wrong with her being human! The fact that she doesn't belong to our world and still understand it more than us only makes her worthy of our admiration".
Marcus' defense shocked the other two vampires who never heard him talking like that to them.
Marcus didn't used to talk like that but Kate didn't criticized or blame him for the dead of his friend James and for that Marcus wouldn't just sit still while Miriam talked about someone that was so kind to him and for who he felt so protective.
Matthew was the first to recover from the shock and while Miriam kept looking at Marcus, he said "Marcus is right. Dr. Williams didn't knew nothing about creatures' genetic and still made very correct assumptions".
"Therefore I will look at her curriculum and mark a job interview" Matthew informed Miriam who only murmured "Fine".
Matthew checked his email and look at the curriculum that Kate had just send him. Impressed, he send her an email asking her if she would be interested in a job interview.
The vampire didn't had to wait too long to receive a positive answered from the human. The interview was marked to the morning of the next day.
In the next day, Kate woke up earlier, took a relaxing and warm bath and started picking a clothe for the interview, choosing a brown blazer, white jeans, her white and brown boots, a brown belt and a brown purse. She did a light makeup in tons of brown too.
Diana showed up at the kitchen door staring at her sister who was drinking coffee "Uau!"
"Hey! Sorry I wake you" Kate apologized.
"No problem. You look amazing, K!" Diana complimented.
"You think? Isn't too much?" the younger one questioned.
"Of course not! You look extremely professional" the blonde said.
"Thank you!"
"It'll go well" Diana tranquilized when she saw how nervous Kate was.
"I really hope so. I never thought that I would had the change of work with Professor Matthew Clairmont!" Kate said, remembering how much she admired him and the influence he had on her choice of profession.
"And I really never thought that my sister would have a crush on him" Kate said to Diana with a provocative smile.
"Happy to see that you are less nervous. Now I'm going sleep. Good luck" Diana answered to the brunette.
"Thanks. Sleep well" Kate said back still smiling.
After her breakfast, Kate got out of the apartment and went to Matthew's laboratory. When she got there, she saw Matthew at the door.
"Good morning, Dr. Williams" Matthew complimented.
"Good morning, Professor Clairmont" she said.
Matthew took Kate to his office where they made the interview.
"So, I read your curriculum and checked your references and all I have to say is that I'm impressed" Matthew said making Kate smile "First of your class, excellent grades, PhD and renowned laboratories. Without mention the articles you published".
"What I don't understand is why anyone would fire you" Matthew said confused.
"Well, the last lab where I worked was bought by a men that didn't wanted a human working with a teams of demon scientists" Kate explained, telling him about the only job she was fired from.
"You were the only human working with demons? How has it?"
"It was… well, intimidating at the beginning. But, I had the chance to work with the most brilliants scientists I ever meet and that was amazing" Kate told Matthew, smiling.
"I believe it was" the vampire agreed "How would you feel about working in my laboratory?"
"Seriously? I would love it!" Kate said a little shocked.
"No problem with working with vampires?" he questioned cautions.
"Of course not" she answered and explained "I don't see you like that. For me you still the exceptional scientist that made me want to be a biochemistry" smiled and add in her mind And you are my future brother in law.
"I really inspired you?" Matthew asked.
"Yes. I has in my last year of high school and I had to do a paper for advanced biology and I found one of your genetic studies. From that on I just never stopped reading them" Kate remembered.
"Well, I'm very happy to know that I had such a good influence" Matthew said flattered, smiling.
"So, would you like to see the lab officially?" he asked to the younger Bishop.
"I would love to" Kate answered with a smile.
Kate's P.O.V.
Professor Clairmont took me to his laboratory and explained me with much more detail how he and Miriam worked than he had done the day before when me and Diana visited.
After we talk about the details of my contract and the functions that I will have, I signed the contract and Matthew walked with me to my apartment.
We here almost there when Matthew questioned me "Do you think that your sister would accept to spend the day with me?"
"Absolutely. I believe she would love it" I said happy.
"Are you sure? She might not trust me enough" he said to me and I notice a worried tone in his voice.
"She told you everything she found out when she opened the book. That shows that she trusts you" I answered and added with a smile "We both do".
We kept walking in a comfortable silence. When we arrived, Diana was walking to towards us.
"Hey, sis!" I said.
"Hey" Diana said looking from me to Matthew and back to me "How did it go?"
"Amazingly well" I answered with a huge smile "I will tell you everything later".
"Are you going to the library?" Matthew asked to my sister.
"Yes" she confirmed.
"You should know that is full with creatures waiting to see if you call out the book again. I thought that we could …" Matthew hesitate, he looked at me and I nod as if to say Go on. You got it.
"Would you let me take you out for the day instead?" he conclude.
However, before my sister could said anything, an annoying voice said "Diana?" we all look at the ginger who stopped not very far from us.
"Do you mind if we just…" the witch asked for.
"Yes, I do mind" I said before Diana looking angry at the redhead.
Diana put a hand in my arm and whispered with a begging look "It's just one last tall. Calm down".
"Fine. A quick one" I agreed reluctantly.
Me and Matthew walked to his car, putting some distance between us and where Diana and Gillian were talking.
Suddently, I look at Matthew and questioned whispering "Can you hear what they are saying?"
"That would be breaking your sister's privacy" he said serious looking at me.
"She will tell me anyway. You would just speed it up" I said and apparently convinced him because he started reporting me the conversation between Diana and Gillian.
When my sister walked away from Gillian and approached us, I gave smug smile to the ginger witch who was looking at us.
Diana stopped in front of Matthew and looked at me worried.
"Don't worry about me. Go!" I said to my sis.
I steped back a little and watched Diana get in Matthew's car "Have fun!" I said smiling to them.
I watch them drive away and walked to the apartment very happy, because I was really shipping Diana and Matthew. ;)
I spend the day in the apartment watching movies, eating, working on my paper, listening music and I clean a bit.
When my sister arrived, I was on the couch watching TV "Hey, D. So where did you go?" I questioned.
"To his house" Diana said putting down her things and sitting next to me.
"Uau! Already?" I questioned kidding.
"Not like that, Kate!" my sister said throwing me a small pillow, we both started laughing.
"So, tell me how it was" I asked her.
Diana told me everything about her day with Matthew and I was really surprised when she told me about her magic "So, every time you need it, your magic will just pop up?"
"Yes. Matthew said it is instinctive" she clarified.
"Now tell me how the interview went" Diana asked me.
"So well. Matthew hired me! It's not a full time job, so I will have a flexible schedule and time to work on my article" I told her.
"That's great. I'm so happy for you, K!" my sister congratulated me.
"Thanks, sis".
3ª P.O.V.
Meanwhile, in Matthew's lab, the professor walked in, finding a worried Miriam.
"Where the hell have you been?" she questioned loud.
"I took Dr. Williams home after our interview" he said taking of his coat.
"That was five hours ago" the woman pointed, crossing her arms.
"We found Diana. I spent the day with her" Matthew said like it wasn't anything.
"Did she tell you anything else about the book?" Miriam questioned him.
"No. She already told me everything about Ashmole 782" he answered.
"Then why did you wasted your time with a witch?" she questioned him angry.
Matthew only gave Miriam a look that was enough for her to understand he didn't liked the way that conversation was going.
"I saw her curriculum. She is not bad" she said changing the subject and referring to Kate.
"I won't… you know… rip her head off" Miriam concluded.
"Thank you, Miriam" Matthew appreciated, hopping that Miriam and Kate will be friends.
In the next chapter: Marcus makes a very important question to Kate. Can you guess what it is?
