Hello!

I need your help. I'm looking for a story, It's about Edward and Bella. He works at a foster home, while she volunteers there. Emmett is her ex-boyfriend, but she's in love with Edward. Eventually, she receives certain gifts from a secret admirer, and she ends up working with Rosalie at an institution of some sorts. Do you know the name by any chance? I would love to re-read it...

Stay Safe! :)

ONE MINUTE

CHAPTER 6: JEALOUS.

Two weeks passed, and Bella was never told who the visitors from Alaska were. But it was important for the Cullens. They didn't behave as if the queen of England was visiting, but the way they behaved clearly showed that the visit was important enough.

The day they arrived, she was introduced, but her personal details remained personal. She appreciated that. She didn't need any more people telling her what she could do to remember.

"Hello Edward!" One of the blondes smiled seductively at him and hugged him tightly. Like you would a special friend you hadn't seen in a long time.

Bella remained quiet but observant of her attitude. She smiled and answered when Eleazar or Carmen asked her a question or involved her in the conversation. She didn't want to appear to be too eager to tell Tanya, as she had introduced herself, to leave some space for Jesus.

Jasper knew what she was feeling, but he didn't want to expose her. So, he said nothing.

The visit, that was originally intended to last a day, ended up lasting a few more. Bella tried her hardest to be polite. In reality Kate was very nice to her and was an easy person to talk to. Bella could see herself being good friends with her. She wanted that. Another friend outside the Cullen family. Irina was a bit like Rose, tough, opinionated, passionate, but she was nice enough. Although she felt a little intimidated by her. Carmen and Eleazar were much like Esme and Carlisle, warm, parenting, sweet.

Tanya, on the other hand, infuriated her. She was constantly by Edward, trying to get his attention. When she was not following him around, she barely spoke to her. That's what infuriated her the most. She was rude. Who gave her the right to be so rude to her?

Bella had had enough, she announced she was going hunting. She preferably wanted to go alone. She purposely travelled far enough so the hunting took her hours. Hours of peace and quiet. Alone with her thoughts, and honestly away from the house and Ms. Seductive smile.

When she returned home the next morning, she saw everyone but Rose and Emmett going away.

As had happened the last few days, Tanya was beside Edward. "Who is she?" she complained out loud.

"Tanya. Our cousin from Alaska" Emmett answered matter of fact.

Yes, Carmen had introduced themselves as family, cousins to be exact. "When you say cousin…" She started because a cousin did not act like Tanya had.

"I mean, we have known each other for a long time, we follow the same diet, we call ourselves family."

"Except we're not." Bella turned to look at Emmett.

"What does that mean? Why do you say like that?" Rosalie shook her head, signaling to her husband not to tell her anything.

But of course, he did. "She's in love with Edward." Rosalie facepalmed herself softly.

"What?" She tried to keep her voice even. Inside voice, she remembered herself. Was that the reason she was so smiley, and following Edward like a damn puppy?

"She is not in love with Edward. She's horny all the time and wants to bone the only single person in this family." Corrected Rosalie. Bella didn't know what was worse, that woman wanting to have sex with Edward, or her being in love with him. "He has never responded to her advances. He has always rejected her. I think he cut all contact with Alaska when he met you."

"Does that mean he was considering accepting her?" Her voice rose in panic.

"No. He made it very clear, every time she propositioned." This time it was Emmett who answered.

"I need to be alone." She left the house in the opposite direction from where Edward and the others went. She ended up very far away from the house, enough that she couldn't hear them. Why was she jealous? She and Edward weren't anything, well, not again…It was so confusing. She climbed up a tree without a second thought. When she came back to herself, she was high up the ground, basically hanging up from a river.

If that woman was really in love with Edward, she was no competition. She was screwed. She didn't remember him, or their history, or their time together. What would he see in her? How could a man be with a woman who didn't remember him? What was she going to do with her feelings now, if he wanted nothing to do with her, and everything to do with Tanya?

"Leave." She thought out loud. She would leave. Damn be her memories. Damn be her life. She would be a nomad. Just like Jasper's friends. What a sad way to eat her heart.

"Why?" She almost fell off the branch when she heard his voice. His amused voice.

"Why what?"

"Why do you want me to leave?" He asked sitting next to her.

"I wasn't talking to you. I was thinking out loud." She explained.

"What were you thinking about?" If he wanted to be with Tanya, this would be one of her favorite things to remember. His eagerness to know what was going through her mind.

"Nothing in particular." She lied.

"I might not be able to read your mind. But I have always known when you're lying." He sounded a little hurt.

She sighed. Better rip the band-aid off. "Emmett told me about Tanya."

Edward chuckled. "She's an acquired taste." Bella didn't laugh with him. "I mean, she might seem rude at first. But she's a good person, once you get to know her."

"Do you like her?"

"What does that mean?" He counter asked.

"I mean, do you like her?"

He moved carefully, closer to her. He put a finger under her chin, turning her face towards him. He locked their eyes. She was so beautiful, but her orange eyes were so troubled. "No, I don't like her. She's family. I have never liked her like that. I admit she's beautiful, but I simply do not find her attractive that way."

"Are you sure?" She seemed so eager to get away with him. "The way you greeted each other…"

He shook his head. "She does that, a lot. I go on with it. But she knows I won't do anything with her. I don't love her." Yes, he had told her he loved her, but still…

"Love and sex doesn't always go hand in hand."

"Bella." He warned. "I come from the early twentieth century, my parents were very clear in their upbringing. I was raised to be a gentleman. Yes, I get turn on, I'm not a prude. But for me, those two things, do go hand in hand." She closed her eyes and nodded, she understood what he was saying. He slid his hand under her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. "After all we've talked." He continued. "What brought this on?"

"I don't know." But she did know. Edward was tired of her lies. He closed the distance between them and kissed her with every ounce of his being. She grabbed the back of his neck and hold on to him as if her life depended on it. His hands were caging her face softly as if she was made of porcelain. He was holding the most precious thing in his life.

"I love you, Bella." He repeated. "I loved the old you, and I love this new version of you. Whether you regain your memories or not. I love you, and only you." She nodded and smiled. She wouldn't need to eat her heart after all. "I know you might not be there yet. But I want you to know, that you can count on me, for whatever you want, or need."

She smiled happily, remembering she had said similar words to him a few weeks ago.

"I do care for you." She admitted, still holding onto his neck. "And I do have feelings for you. But…"

"It's confusing. I know" He interrupted.

She nodded.

"It's confusing."

Edward smiled her favorite (and secret) smile and caressed her cheek. She was so beautiful. "I want to help you with your memories. Would you let me?"

"On one condition."

"Shoot."

"It's the last thing we try. I'm tired of going down memory lane. I want new memories if I can't have my old back." I want new memories with you, she added in her mind. Not ready to say the words.

"I agree. I have one condition back."

She chuckled. "Alice said you were a negotiator."

Edward nodded and smiled like the cat that ate the bird. Mischievous and sexy. Irresistible. Bella closed the distance this time, going for a searing kiss. "I like this negotiation" he murmured against her lips. She smiled and kissed him again. He broke the kiss. "I want you to let me tell you about the memories that are in the pictures that Jasper gave you a few weeks ago."

"One last time." She reminded him.

"I promise." She nodded.

Back at the house, Edward and Bella went to her room to go down memory lane, one last time.

He picked the pile of photos and went through them. He found the one he was looking for. One of his favorites.

"This was after I confessed my feelings for you, but obviously before the catastrophe of the baseball game. The first time I ran with you on my back, you thought I would run us into a tree. So, it took a little bit of convincing the next time I wanted to do it." He ran a finger on top of the picture.

"When you mean convincing…"

He smiled wickedly. "When I rescued you in Port Angeles, you accused me of dazzling the waitress. I asked if I dazzled you, you said 'frequently'. I used that information this time and tried to dazzle you. You were being stubborn. Like really thinking we were going to die. So, you refused to get on my back." He chuckled remembering her denial.

"That sounds like something I would say." She chuckled with him, looking over his shoulder. "So, that's why you were laughing your ass off and I seem mad?" He looked at her and nodded. "Figures." She rolled her eyes playfully.

"Hey!" He complained half-heartedly. "What does that mean?"

"You enjoy making me mad." She accused.

"That's not true." He lied.

"When I first woke up, you were laughing at me because I was afraid to jump out of the window. You knew that would irate me, yet you did it anyway." She smiled triumphantly. "And this also demonstrates it." She pointed at the photo in his hands.

"Fine. But I don't do it with ill intentions." He quickly added, afraid that she would take offense.

"I know." She reassured him. She now knew that it was a way he had to show his love for her.

He shuffled again through the pictures and found another funny one. Well, funny for him. It was of Alice and Bella. He didn't know who had taken the picture. Bella had a half-tired, half-amused smile, but Alice's expression was unreadable. He didn't know if she was mad, or amused.

"She's a force of nature, isn't she?" Edward laughed loud and hard at that. "For such a tiny thing, she's very mighty."

"I couldn't have said it better." He kept laughing. "But she means well. She's just pushy sometimes."

"You love her." She smiled and he smiled back.

"Yeah, she's like a sister to me. I don't know if bigger or smaller." He winked. She giggled.

They stayed like that for a few hours, laughing and sharing confidentialities. At one point they forgot the pictures and just started talking, laughing, and sometimes, kissing. She felt so comfortable with him. She really liked being with him. If she never gained her memories back, she knew she was in good hands, she knew she had found her forever home.

"What about this picture?" She finally asked what had been in the back of her mind.

She took out the picture form under her pillow. Edward noticed it had more wrinkles than the others, showing that she had manipulated this particular one more than the others.

He took it in his hands. They were both smiling, she was on his back. Edward had almost forgotten about this one. It seemed a lost moment between the two of them.

"I honestly don't remember what prompted this reaction." He studied the picture. They were wearing the same clothes as the picture he had started this meeting with. The one where she was upset. "Perhaps it was before I ran with you on my back, before you thought I was careless enough to run us into a tree. As if I would allow anything to hurt you." He bumped his shoulder with hers, showing her, he was teasing.

She laughed.

"Edward." She called after a few minutes of silence.

They were both lying on the bed, on their backs.

"Yes?" He answered back.

"I don't want to try any more to remember." She repeated what she had said on the tree.

"I know. I promised this would be the last try. We can move on from now on. Make our own memories. If you want." He turned his body, so that he was now laying on his side, facing her.

She met his eyes and stared infinitely into them. She realized something. She had known for a few days, but she needed to be shoved to come to terms with that. "I love you" She admitted. She was absolutely and irrevocably in love with Edward.

His smile was so big, sincere and bright that it made her feel shy. He noticed it. "If you were still human, you would be blushing furiously right now." She laughed. "You have no idea what those words mean to me. I thought I would lose you forever when you asked who I was when you woke up. I was afraid when we were on the baseball field, facing the nomads, I was scared when I realized you had escaped to meet James. But that doesn't compare to what I felt that day. I was petrified."

"I noticed." She sat up. "I was worried about you. You weren't moving. Jasper found it funny."

"It is hard to shock me to immobility. I always know what someone's thinking, what they're about to say. But you have always been a mystery. You have always eluded me. And I couldn't figure out what was going through your mind while you were going through the change. And I couldn't figure out what was going through your mind that day. My siblings find it funny that someone has the upper hand on me."

"I thought Alice had it often." She joked.

He smiled amusedly. "She does, sometimes. But you do all the time. I like it. I like not knowing what goes through your mind. But it's very scary sometimes."

"That's how we all feel, all the time." She smiled.

He closed the distance once again and locked his lips with hers. Slower this time. "I love you." He mumbled into her lips.

She laughed at the change of direction in the conversation. "I love you too." Then, she closed the distance and kissed him.

A few days letter, Alice intercepted Edward alone.

"What happened with Bella?"

Edward smiled amusedly. He could hear the curiosity on his sister's mind.

"She felt insecure about Tanya's presence here and asked me about her. I told her who she was to me and who Bella was to me. Everything's fine now."

"I heard you two talking and laughing yesterday." She fished.

"Why don't you ask what you really want to ask, instead of fishing for information?" He asked straight out.

Alice rolled her eyes. "What was that?"

"She decided to stop trying to regain her memories."

"What? She can't do that. It's her life. What is she going to do?" She was horrified.

"Alice, relax. It's her life, it's her decision. She doesn't want to live always trying to connect with who she was. And she's right. She wants to make new memories. And I promised her that we wouldn't make her remember again."

She was going to protest again, but Edward stopped her. "Alice, it's done. Let it go." He left her there, standing alone, and surprised.
