Recap from last chapter: Everyone including Sam and his friends went out to karaoke and had a good time. When it got shut down early they did a drive in movie night all on their own. This is when Sam revealed he likes brunettes not blondes. What will happen next? Keep reading to find out.
Maya thinking to herself: Why am I up so early? I have 4 hours left to sleep so I should just sleep, but no my body wants to force me to stay awake as if that's any fun. Well I guess since I can't sleep I could goget some air.
(Maya gets out of bed quietly, puts on some slippers and a jacket, leaves and takes a walk)
Sam: Maya?
Maya: Oh hey Sam!
Sam: What are you doing out here?
Maya: Can't sleep.
Sam: Me either.
Maya: I guess we could just walk out here until we get tired then.
Sam: Yeah, um...can I ask you a question?
Maya: Shoot.
Sam: You know when you think you are attracted to someone and you tell yourself you don't so to believe that you put it in your head that you like someone else?
Maya: Um not exactly but I've been in a similar situation so I can understand.
Sam: Similar situation?
Maya: Well Riley, Lucas and I used to be a triangle.
Sam: Wait seriously?
Maya: Yeah, I mean I have always wanted to be with Josh don't get me wrong. It's just like...Riley wasn't acting like herself so I pretended to be her and I figured out that she liked Lucas as a brother. Next thing I know, I like Lucas or that's what I thought. She figured it out and told us it was okay for us to date even though she liked him first. We tried and it failed miserably because we weren't meant to be more than friends. My first date with him I poured a smoothie on his head.
Sam: Wow, you are unbelievable.
Maya: Yeah, I know. After we decided to just stick to being friends, Riley and I realized I was dressing exactly like her and acting like her. Pretty much I became Riley Matthews and that's why I believed that I liked Lucas. I never did, she did. One thing led to another and we went on a ski trip which Lucas, Riley, Josh and I all attended. Lucas chose Riley and Josh chose the long game.
Sam: The what?
Maya: Basically we are 3 years apart except for when my birthday comes around then it's only 2 years for 6 weeks. Since that was the case he said we would play the long game meaning when I came of age we could finally try a relationship.
Sam: That's a lot.
Maya: Yeah, but continue what you were saying.
Sam: I liked someone and I told myself I didn't do to believe that I made myself believe I liked you.
Maya: Me???
Sam: Yes, you except I don't like you I like her.
Maya: Who's her?
Sam: Angie.
Maya: Oh your green eyed brunette friend?
Sam: Yes!
Maya: So tell her.
Sam: I think her and Tyler are into each other.
Maya: It wouldn't hurt to try. Look I know seeing someone you care about with someone else may hurt, but you don't know if they are. You are assuming so go get the girl Sam. I can help if you want just give me a time and place.
Sam: Tomorrow, in the café during the assembly for seniors.
Maya: So Josh can't be there?
Sam: He went to the orientation so he can.
Maya: Okay well I'm getting sleepy.
Sam: Me too we should head back and get some rest.
Maya: Yeah, you need sleep for your big day tomorrow.
Sam: I hope she says yes.
Maya: Speak from your heart, that is all that matters.
Sam: Okay well goodnight Maya. Or good morning I don't know.
Maya: Goodnight Sam.
(they both walk off, as soon as Maya gets back in the room Riley turns her lamp on)
Maya: Riley!
Riley: Peaches, where have you been?
Maya: Well I couldn't sleep so I went on a walk.
Riley: That was a long walk.
Maya: I ended up finding Sam who was also unable to sleep.
Riley: Did he say anything?
Maya: He told me he liked Angie and to hide it from himself he believed he liked me.
Riley: Wait Angie?
Maya: Yeah why?
Riley: Oh she is brunette.
Maya: What?
Riley: When we were alone at the movie he told me he liked brunettes over blondes.
Maya: What does that have to do with this?
Riley: I thought he meant me but I am so relieved to hear he's not.
Maya: Oh no, not you. He wants us to help him tomorrow with asking her out.
Riley: He said that?
Maya: Well I told him I would help and you know I couldn't do it without you so.
Riley: When does he want to do it?
Maya: During the senior assembly in the café.
Riley: So in between our 2nd and 3rd class periods?
Maya: Exactly!
Riley: We should get sleep then because we have a lot to plan.
Maya: Yeah right! Goodnight Riles.
Riley: Goodnight Peaches.
This chapter is a short one I know, but I don't like leaving you guys on too many cliffhangers so I put all the small details in one and then all the big stuff can happen in one chapter.
