Thalia wastes no time grabbing Percy and pulling him into another room as the others disperse.
"You are such a vlacas," She hisses as soon as she shuts the door and they're alone, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I did tell you," He protests, weakly, not wanting to have this conversation at all.
She glares at him, "You told me he was a drunk bastard like Beryl, not that he hit you,"
Percy sighs, running a hand through his curls, "I - look, I"m sorry, okay? It just doesn't exactly come up in a conversation,"
Thalia continues glaring before she sighs and shakes her head, "I know. I'm sorry. It's just hard to hear about,"
"Yeah, I get it,"
Thalia eyes him for a minute, "He's not. . . still around, is he?"
Percy manages a grin, "Nope, he's long gone,"
She raises an eyebrow, "Where?"
"Ah, ah, no spoilers,"
She shakes her head, but smiles, slightly, "Alright. They're probably waiting for us 'cuz, but, hey, Percy?"
"Yeah?" He says, turning around from where he was about to walk out the door.
"You know I'm always here to talk, right?"
He smiles, "Yeah, I know. Thanks, Thals,"
ii.
"You could've told me," Annabeth says quietly, kicking a rock at her feet.
Percy stuffs his hands into his jacket pockets and shrugs, "I know. There was just so much going on, and it didn't seem important. Plus, it's in the past and he's long gone now,"
"Still," Annabeth says, turning to face him. He sighs and turns to face her, too, and is surprised to see her eyes brimming with tears.
"Hey, hey, 'Beth, it's okay," He says, and hugs her as she sniffs, laughing a bit.
"Yeah, I know. It's just. . . Well, I complain about my dad and Helen all the time and -"
"Hey, no," He pulls away, and holds her out at arm's length, "It's not a competition. Okay?"
"Yeah. Okay," She sniffs again, wiping her eyes, "You still could've told me, though,"
He sighs, "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry,"
He offers her a smile and she returns it slipping an arm through his, "You ready to read more of your internal dialogue?" She asks, after a moment.
He grounds, "Gods, don't remind me,"
Annabeth laughs and opens the door, and they walk into the throne room.
Nico knows exactly what Hades wants whenever he pulls him and Hazel into a separate room, but that doesn't mean he wants to do it anymore.
He sits them in a spare room somewhere, crosses his arms, and raises an eyebrow, "Explain."
Nico grimaces, and exchanges a glance with Hazel, who bites her lip.
"Well. . .there's not much to explain, per se. I mean, I was in the underworld, and she was in the Fields of Asphodel, and I. . . pulled her out,"
Hades narrows his eyes, "And Biana? I assume she'd be here . . ."
Nico and Hazel look down, and Hades sighs, running a hand down his face, before meeting Nico's eyes, "I am sorry,"
Nico blinks at him, opening his mouth before closing it again. Hades takes that as an answer and turns to Hazel, "And I hope to get to know you better. Both of you," He says, nodding back to Nico, "Bu, alas, for now, it will have to wait. Unfortunately, Zeus will throw a tantrum if he finds out about it, and I am not willing to deal with him right now, so I'll let him. . . adjust," He sighs, "To this situation before I tell him and the others. Understand?" Hazel and Nico both continue to stare at him until he raises an eyebrow, "Well?"
"Uh, y - yes, sir," They manage to stutter out, still slightly stunned.
Hades nods, "Good. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a brother to irritate,"
iii.
"You owe me an explanation," Percy says, as soon as everyone settles back into the throne room. He would've preferred to have this talk with Poseidon in private - especially since he didn't know how. . . explicit this conversation would get - but it was obvious that the Fates had brought them here for a reason, and this was probably one of them.
Poseidon grimaces. He knew he did, but explaining it - especially in front of the other Gods and thirty-something expectant eyes - was not how he wanted to do this. He took a deep breath before letting out a deep sight. There was no easy way of saying this, so he didn't even bother trying to coat it.
"You were blessed by the Fates,"
Percy, and the other kids, blinked at him as the other Gods whipped around to look at him.
"I was what?"
"He was what?!"
Poseidon didn't answer for a while and after a few moments of shocked silence, Annabeth raises a hand, "Uhm. . . excuse me, Lord Poseidon, but what exactly does that mean?"
"It means," Zeus growls, glowering at him, "That he broke yet another sacred oath,"
"Hm. So I'm just one broken rule after another, huh?" Percy mutters, sarcastically.
Poseidon winces, "It wasn't - well, it wasn't my idea."
"What wasn't your idea? What does that mean?" Percy asks
Poseidon runs a weary hand through his hair, "Perseus -"
"Percy," He says automatically, before blushing, "Sorry."
"- I did meet your mother during the summer at Montauk - it was July, actually - but she didn't, erm, get pregnant," Percy turns red, but doesn't interrupt, this time, "Until August."
"Wait but that doesn't make any sense," Jason points out.
"The reason why your birthday is also in August, instead of June, is because the Fates intervened. They never said why - maybe they knew you would be the prophecy child, or perhaps . . . perhaps there is something more, but it happened. Sally begged and pleaded with them, but there wasn't anything even I could do,"
"So. . .what?" Leo jokes, "They just kept his fetus in an orb for a month and a half like some twisted, badly made sci-fi movie from the '60s?"
". . . I mean, yeah. Pretty much."
Leo blinks at him as Percy's eyebrows shoot up, "WhAt?"
Annabeth pats him sympathetically on the shoulder before frowning, "Wait, so, blessed by the fates, yeah that's great and all, but what does that mean?"
"Yeah, does he have some alien blood in him?" Travis deadpans
"Uh.. no."
"Aww."
"But, it's - well, it's complicated. It means a lot. There are good things and bad things to it, like - Uhm,"
Athena rolls her eyes, "You're doing an awful job at explaining this. Basically, the Fates would only do this for a few reasons; trying to postpone a prophecy, or trying to keep the child hidden, but there are also pros and cons. There's a possibility of more ichor in your blood - but also less, depending, and there's no way of seeing until we examine the extent of your powers, it can provide extra powers - though not many, especially as a child of the big three - and it can protect you more. But there's also the flip side - other than being possibly less. . . godly, there's also less control over certain powers and a stronger scent."
"Okay. . ." Annabeth frowns, "So how much of it affects Percy? And if they were worried about him being a prophecy child, why didn't they bless Thalia and Nico?"
The Gods exchange nervous glances, "We're not sure, yet," Poseidon answers.
"But if he turns out to be a potential threat. . ." Zeus warns
Poseidon rolls his eyes, "Please, brother, we are not going to kill my son,"
Zeus glares at him, but Poseidon merely stands up, ignoring him, and retrieves the discarded book, "I shall read now, I suppose," He declares, opening to the next page.
