Author's Note: This brief little "deleted" scene marks the closing chapter of this story. Thanks so kindly for the follows, faves and, most of all, the reviews. I really tried to make this feel like an authentic Bones episode when writing it for my class and I hope it felt right to you as you read it.

And then there's THIS scene...

DELETED SCENE

INT. HALL OUTSIDE BRENNAN'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Brennan and Booth walk down the hall toward her
apartment.

BOOTH
I still can't believe you beat me.

BRENNAN
(chuckling)
Twice.

As they reach her apartment, she pulls out her keys.

BOOTH
I can't believe you beat me. Twice.

Brennan unlocks and opens the door, then turns back
to him, standing just a step into her apartment.

BRENNAN
I told you: physics and geometry.

Booth leans against the doorframe, his whole upper
right arm pressed against the frame for support while
he rests his left hand casually on his hip. He smiles at
her affectionately.

BOOTH
I don't think that was it.

BRENNAN
Then how do you suppose I beat you?

He shrugs slightly, his look teasing.

BRENNAN
You're not implying you let me win?

BOOTH
I know better than that.

BRENNAN
To imply it or to do it?

BOOTH
I told you. I play fair and square,
Bones. I wouldn't throw a game.

She squints, assessing him. He raises his eyebrows,
challenging her and happily accepting her curious
scrutiny.

BRENNAN
Do you believe you taught me so well
that I, the student, was able to
surpass you, the teacher?

He shakes his head. She chuckles.

BRENNAN
I hope you don't think it was luck.

He laughs.

BOOTH
Luck? No such thing.

He winks. She narrows her eyes. A beat as she twists
her mouth, regarding him. He can't take it; he gives in:

BOOTH
I just think I cared more about the
company than the competition is all.

Brennan smiles, looking down.

BRENNAN
Booth...

BOOTH
(diverting)
Hey, whaddya think happened with Tony
and Roxie? After they made their
daring escape, I mean.

She looks back up at him.

BRENNAN
Oh... well... I imagine after he
finally confessed his feelings her,
she would have been quite interested
in pursuing a sexual relationship.

BOOTH
So you think they slept together?

BRENNAN
Yes, of course. Don't you?

Booth tips his head forward then shakes it.

BOOTH
Nah, you know, I think Tony... he
would have kissed her goodnight...
left her wanting more.

BRENNAN
Why do you think that?

BOOTH
'Cause, Tony, he's chivalrous, you
understand? He'd want to woo her.

BRENNAN
What about what Roxie wants?

He looks at her for a moment, standing upright again.

BOOTH
What... does... Roxie... want?

She takes a breath before answering definitively:

BRENNAN
Tony.

Booth looks down as an electric little beat passes
between them. His lips twitch into a half smile.

BOOTH
And what about you, Temperance?
(he looks up at her)
What do you want?

She hesitates a split second, but then moves in to kiss him.

He returns the kiss instantly, pulling her closer with a
hand at her waist and the other on her neck. After a
long, fervid moment, he starts to pull away, but she
grips his shirt and pulls him in again for one more
impassioned kiss. He moves his hand from her neck
into her hair, matching her intensity.

As she starts to move away, he keeps her lips close to
his, cupping both sides of her face with his hands. He
leans his forehead into hers and kisses her softly. He
takes a peek at her, her eyes still closed, before he
places one final sweet and chaste kiss gently onto
her lips.

They stagger just a step back from each other.

BRENNAN
(breathless)
I... want... to woo you, Booth.

Brennan smirks flirtatiously as she steps backwards into
her apartment. She gives him a slightly more coy smile
then closes the door in his face.

Booth is discombobulated, but his grin says it all. He spins
around leaning against the wall next to her door.

BOOTH
Oh-ho. Mission accomplished, Bones.
Mission so totally damn accomplished.

INT. BRENNAN'S APARTMENT

Cheeks flushed and still out of breath, Brennan leans
back against the door. She runs a few fingers over her
lips. She smiles and shakes her head. Wow.

INT. HALL OUTSIDE BRENNAN'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Booth lets out one last breath. Holy shit. He grins then
pushes off the wall and heads off down the hallway.

Author's Note: I did want to comment that I don't believe I have ever had Booth use Brennan's given name in any of my Bones fics. I know for sure I've written and deleted it countless times, but I never felt like I earned it... until this scene. I hope it felt earned to you too: a special, open, honest moment... when nothing but "Temperance" would do.
