Ghost, as they had called themself, had been led throughout the ruins. According to Toriel, they were about halfway there. The two could feel eyes peering at them, creeping along the wall, watching… Surprisingly, it wasn't threatening. Only curious, and slightly wary of this new being that had entered the Underground. Understandable. They were, after all, a Void Being.
Void. Being. Nothing more. Nothing less.
They calmed once they remembered this. A blank vessel to hold the Radiance. That was what they had to be.
"My child…"
Once Toriel had spoken, Ghost took out the cellphone. Now that their void was in the phone, it made communication so much easier! They could hear everything that Toriel was saying with relative ease, and knew that "My Child" meant to listen to her.
"I will have to leave you alone for a little while. I need to do something. Please, wait in here until I come back."
Wait. Leaving?
Ghost looked to Toriel's hand, to the phone, to Toriel once again.
"I promise you, I will not take long. No one will hurt you."
Their words were trust-worthy, and they had not lied once… But the eyes in the shadows were beings they didn't want to be alone with. Hesitantly, they looked to the shadows once more… And let go. Toriel smiled.
"Thank you, little one. I will return shortly. Please, do not attempt to get through the ruins all by yourself. It is very dangerous for one like you."
And then… She was gone. Ghost was alone, once again. All they could do was wait.
Frisk was checking their stats.
LV: 10
Until Next: 950.
"You've been grinding for a while now, Frisk. Are you sure you don't want to take a break?"
Frisk started writing in the dust on the floor. "You've never worried about my health before."
"Of course not. I couldn't talk with you back then, what was the point in caring? But now that we're in a new AU-"
"What's an "AU?"'
"Alternate Universe. If you die in this place, what will happen? I've seen no Save Points."
Frisk had to think for a moment. That was true. There weren't any to see. Would they have to start all over again if they were defeated…? They would burn that bridge when they came to it. For now, they were done writing. Continuing down, they passed by the Tiktik corpses, and went straight down a strange room with tons of floating platforms… And strange bug looking things, with wings much too big for their bodies, and noses that took up half of their face. It almost reminded them of someone…
Jerry.
A slight hiss escaped their lips, the only vocal noise they would ever make. After remembering that waste of space, she moved on quickly, eager to forget that waste of space. That idiotic, selfish, wasteful being that relied on others but never made an effort to thank them. They held only hatred for Jerry's kind.
Soon, however, their mind was taken away from those thoughts, when she stumbled upon an odd room. There were no enemies in it, only the sound of soft humming…
They investigated further, to find a large being. They had a long nose, though it was thin, and continued on past the page he was writing in. Small glasses hid the eyes of this being, though they had to be quite small to find use in glasses that size. A large bag rested on their back, full of papers and-
"Maps. Maybe he can give us one? He's sure to have some information about this place."
So Frisk walked over and waved to them, starting a conversation. The strange being perked up to look at them.
"Ah, hello there. Come down to explore these beautiful old ruins? Don't mind me."
They stopped humming.
"I've a fondness for exploring myself. Getting lost and finding your way again is a pleasure like no other. We're exquisitely lucky, you and I.
I'm a cartographer by trade, and I'm working on mapping this area right now. Would you like to buy a copy of my work so far?"
They vigorously nodded, taking the map for the fair price of a few rocks they had collected from slain enemies. Now, looking at the map, they would decide where to go next.
"What's that thing?"
Chara pointed to the odd marking on the map. The room was far away, and had a slightly intimidating signal on it. Maybe a boss monster..?
"We should go there next."
