Chapter 6

Training

Today is the first day of training for the Sports Festival for the U.A. High students. At the Emerald Shade, Felicia and Arisa wake up, have breakfast, and get ready for school. They also chatted on the walk to U.A. High.

"Felicia, why do you want us to train together?" Arisa questioned.

"It's just that we're the new students at U.A. High," Felicia began explaining. "The other students in the hero courses, like our classmates, had more time to hone their Quirks with professional assistance than us. They also have more experience training in various situations than we probably do."

Arisa nodded in agreement with what Felicia was saying.

"Plus, there was that USJ incident that Usagi told me about," Felicia added on.

"Oh yeah," Arisa remembered that Usagi told her the same thing. "She told me about that too. Class 1-L and Class 1-A were attacked by the League of Villains at the USJ, separated into groups, and fought some villains. The Pro Heroes, like All Might and Speed Girl, showed up to save the students and arrested some villains, but the rest of those villains escaped."

"Because of that, you and I need to train more than the other students," Felicia suggested. "I think we should train at the Takoba Municipal Beach Park."

"Why there?" Arisa asked.

"I've heard that the beach park is usually empty on most days." Felicia stated. "There we can practice using our Quirks without putting anyone in danger and we can keep our Quirks a secret from the other students."

Arisa felt a bit unsure about keeping a secret from her other classmates, but she decided to go along with it.

"Okay then. That sounds like a good idea," Arisa commented. "How did you come up this plan Felicia?"

"After what our classmates told me on our first day at U.A. High and what Usagi told me last night, I figured we need to train harder than the other students if we want to do well in the Sports Festival." Felicia explained.

"Wow, you really thought that plan through didn't you" Arisa asked, looking amazed by Felicia's thinking.

Felicia noticed Arisa looking at her, which made her feel a bit embarrassed.

"Well, as an artist I do have an eye for detail." Felicia said, scratching her head nervously. "It's also because of that I got my Quirk."

What Felicia said reminded Arisa something she wanted to ask her.

"Speaking of which, what is your Quirk, Felicia?" Arisa asked.

"My Quirk is Life Paint," Felicia explained. "Anything I paint can become real. The downside is I need a hard surface to paint on and my paintings can be destroyed with water."

"That sounds like a cool Quirk. But where you do get the paint needed to use your Quirk? Also, does it take a while to complete your paintings?" Arisa asked, making some good points.

"Well, actually I do my paintings rather quickly thanks to years of painting. Also, I carry paint tubes and paint brushes with me, just in case I need to use my Quirk," Felicia explained.

Felicia then pulled out some small paint brushes and small paint tubes from her pockets to show Arisa. Seeing how prepared Felicia is made Arisa surprised.

"What about you Arisa? What's your Quirk" Felicia asked.

"My Quirk is Aether Power," Arisa explained. "I can channel visible energy in many different forms. For example, as beams, punches, kicks, or barriers. The downside is the energy is connected to my emotions, so I have to stay calm to keep it under control."

Arisa then showed Felicia the silver bracelet she wears. "This bracelet I wear stores the excess energy that sometimes leaks out," Arisa stated.

"Your Quirk sounds incredible Arisa, even with its drawbacks." Felicia complimented her.

"Oh, thanks Felicia. Anyway, let's go together to Takoba Municipal Beach Park after school." Arisa decided.

"Sure thing," Felicia agreed with a thumbs up.

-My Hero Academia-

Once the girls got to U.A. High, they got to know more about some of their classmates' Quirks. For example, they found out about Maruto's Push and Pull Quirk, Ai's Fear Factor Quirk, Yuki's Dragonborn Quirk, Tatsumi's Kamen Rider Quirk, and Eli's Bug Body Quirk. The girls added that info to the fact they already knew about Usagi's Rabbit Quirk, Miru's Telepathy Quirk, and Makoto's Quiet Gamble Quirk from their first day.

After the classes ended, Speed Girl gave Arisa and Felicia their U.A. High gym uniforms, which they needed for the Sports Festival. Both exchange students gladly accepted the uniforms. On the way out of the classroom, Usagi approached Felicia and Arisa to ask them if they wanted to train with her and the other girls. They both declined the offer, saying they were going to train together somewhere else, which Usagi accepted. Arisa and Felicia decided to head back to the Emerald Shade to change into their gym uniforms so they can get used to them for the Sports Festival. Felicia was lucky that the uniform had side pockets so she can put her small paint brushes and small paint tubes in. After that, Felicia guided Arisa to Takoba Municipal Beach Park because she knew where it was located thanks to her sightseeing.

"Wow, this beach is amazing," Arisa gazed at the wonderful view of the beach park.

"I thought the same thing when I first saw this place," Felicia agreed.

"During class, I've been thinking about how we can train our Quirks," Arisa stated.

"So, what's your idea?" Felicia asked.

"Well, since your Quirk lets you create things, you can create some targets, dummies, and other things for me to practice on with my Quirk," Arisa explained. "That way you can increase your painting speed and ability to create things, and I can perfect my accuracy and increase my offense and defense capabilities."

"Oh, I get it," Felicia understood her idea. "You came up with a really great training strategy Arisa."

"Thanks, Felicia" Arisa felt praised.

Their training began with them doing as Arisa said. Felicia quickly painted on the small pier some target boards that she threw on the beach for Arisa to practice aiming her beams at. Next, Felicia painted some training dummies for Arisa to practice her power punches and kicks on. Then Felicia painted some gauntlets for her to attack Arisa's barrier, which she tried to keep up for as long as she could. Luckily with the weakness of Felicia's Quirk being water, the tide dissolved the painted items into nothingness, leaving behind no solid pigments to contaminate the water.

After training for a while, the girls noticed someone coming to the beach. It was a boy with fluffy dark-green and black hair, large green eyes, and freckles, and he looked taller than both girls. From his U.A. High gym uniform, they knew he goes to their school, but they didn't know who he is. The guy noticed the girls approaching him, and he seemed to get a bit nervous as they got closer.

"Hello there," Arisa and Felicia greeted the guy.

"My, my, name, name, is Izuku Midoriya," the guy named Midoriya introduced himself.

From how he was acting, the girls looked at each other and decided to step back a bit, which helped to calm him down a bit.

"Hi Midoriya, my name is Arisa Kawasaki, an exchange student in Class 1-L," Arisa introduced herself.

"It's nice to meet you Midoriya. My name is Felicia Marvell, and I, too, am an exchange student in Class 1-L," Felicia introduced herself too.

"Oh, you're both the new students that joined the school recently," Midoriya realized. "It's nice to meet you both too."

Arisa and Felicia were glad that Midoriya wasn't nervous now as he was before.

"So, are you here to train for the Sports Festival too?" Arisa asked him.

"Actually, I am," Midoriya answered. "But if you two are training right now, I can go somewhere else or come back later."

"Hold on," Felicia said. "If you want to train here too, we can train together if you like."

Midoriya thought about it for a little bit, and he answered, "Okay, I guess I can train with you girls if you like."

"That's wonderful to hear," Felicia commented.

"Yeah, but can you not tell the other students about our Quirks?" Arisa asked Midoriya.

"Sure thing," Midoriya agreed.

With Midoriya joining them, the girls explained to him about their Quirks. Then he explained that his Quirk powers up his arms and legs, but they can get damaged if he over does it. Arisa told him about the training strategy, and he had his own thoughts. However, that led to him mumbling for a bit, which made the girls sweatdrop. Midoriya practiced his punches and kicks on the dummies that Felicia created, and against Arisa to help her with her fighting and strengthening her barrier.

-My Hero Academia-

After training together, the trio decided to stop when they got tired and saw the sun almost about to set. The girls decided to have dinner together at a nearby restaurant and invited Midoriya to join them. He got nervous from the idea, but they assured him it was their way of thanking him for helping with the training. Midoriya calmed down and agreed to it.
At the restaurant, they sat at a table booth with Midoriya sitting across from the girls. After they placed their orders, they talked to pass the time. Arisa and Felicia told him about where they're from, their first day in Musutafu, and their first day at UA High. Felicia and Midoriya were surprised that Arisa saved some kids with her Quirk, and she got warned by a police officer to not do it again. Midoriya told them about his observation notebooks, which has info about various heroes, such as Pro Heroes and his classmates.

"So Midoriya, do you have any tips for strengthening our Quirks?" Arisa asked him, gesturing to herself and Felicia.

"Actually, what you two are doing right now is okay," Midoriya explained. "Just keep training hard and you both might do well in the Sports Festival."

"Thanks for that Midoriya." Felicia said. "Just of curiosity, how did you strengthen your Quirk to where it is now?"

For some reason Midoriya stiffened up a bit when she asked him that, but then he spoke.

"Oh, well I removed all the trash that was in Takoba Municipal Beach Park bit by bit to strengthen my body and my Quirk." Midoriya told them.

What he said surprised both girls, especially Felicia. She then started laughing, which confused Arisa and Midoriya.

"Sorry for laughing," Felicia apologized, trying to stop laughing. "But what you just said is sort of the last thing I thought was how the beach park got cleaned."

"No, it's alright," Midoriya responded frantically.

"Next thing you'll being telling me is that you're the kid who jumped in to try to save the captured kid from the sludge villain before All Might showed up," Felicia stated.

"Actually, I am," Midoriya admitted, which surprised the girls again.

"Though to be honest, you have to admit the ideas sounds kind of out there," Arisa joined in.

Then what she said made Felicia laugh again, and soon Arisa and Midoriya laughed with her.
After dinner, the girls parted ways with Midoriya as they headed back to the Emerald Shade.

"I have to say this was an interesting first day of training," Arisa stated. "Don't you think Felicia?"

"Yes, it was," Felicia agreed. "I never would have thought Midoriya would help us with our training."

"It kind of sounds like you're interested in him" Arisa said, which surprised Felicia.

"Oh, that's not what I mean," Felicia clarified calmly. "I just mean that Midoriya is a good example to follow. Such as how he trained to power up his body and Quirk, and how he tried to rescue the other kid."

"Yeah, I agree with that" Arisa responded.

When they arrived at the Emerald Shade, the girls took a shower and got ready for bed. They will need the rest to continue training for the upcoming Sports Festival.
