A/N: Just a quick note. The little italicized sentences that are not in the dialogue are Arizona or Callie's internal thoughts. I saw another story do this and I think it really adds to the story in a positive way. Just in case you were confused.
Also, the amount of chapters I have put out in 2 days will not be the norm. I have an Accounting midterm I am seriously procrastinating! 😊

Chapter 6
"Calliope, this here is Arizona Robbins. Arizona, this is my daughter and brains behind The Race, Calliope Torres".
Callie POV
Holy shit. The Blue dress, the smoky eye. Is she wearing colored contacts? I could get lost in those eyes. That body. I wonder what she looks like out of that dress. Callie was frozen. Finally, her father cleared his throat and she snapped back to reality.
"Hello Arizona, I believe we briefly met earlier when I ran you over. Again, sorry about that" Callie extended her hand to shake Arizona's.
"Calliope, please. I told you it was really no problem. I was rushing too. It is a pleasure to formally meet you". Arizona took Callie's had to shake it.
Did she just feel electricity? No that was stupid. You read about that. It doesn't actually happen.
They stood there. Just shaking hands and staring at each other. Until again, her father cleared his throat.
"Calliope, Arizona just agreed to accept The Torres Company's sponsorship. We were just getting ready to celebrate with a toast. Can you take Arizona to the bar for a drink while I gather the rest of the party?" Carlos asked. He was giving Callie a look like she was crazy. She can't say she blamed him. He had to clear his throat twice to keep Callie's focus. Time to turn on business mode.
"Of course, Daddy. Arizona, please follow me to the bar. We will get you a drink." Callie smiled.
Arizona POV
Umm did she feel sparks when they shook hands? This Latina Goddess, Calliope, was far and away the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. The red dress against her tan skin was enough to make Arizona's throat dry.
Their introduction was pretty similar to their run in earlier. She couldn't let go of Callie's hand. It was like a magnet. She remembered that Mark said Callie didn't like to be called Calliope. Hopefully she didn't upset her by calling her that.
As they walked over to the bar, Arizona felt pulled to Callie. She needed to talk to this woman, get to know her.
"So, how is it being the brains behind The Race?" Arizona asked. Genuinely curious.
Callie laughed. Arizona could listen to that sound forever. It sounded like a melody. It was her new favorite sound.
"Exhausting. As you know, the change in venue was kind of last minute. We have the space and we keep our course in fantastic shape. But the world will be watching, so it has been a lot of work to get it perfect." Callie responded.
Arizona just nodded. She wanted to know about Calliope Torres. Was she single? Did she like golf? Did she like women? But Arizona couldn't go there yet. She had to remain professional. After all, she just agreed to partner with the company this beautiful woman's family owned. Was that a conflict of interest? They finished their short walk to the bar in silence.
Callie's POV
How was it that this woman made Callie want to be close to her? Callie normally was being chased. She was not the one who wanted to be close to someone else. Yes, Callie tended to jump into relationships, but she was always pursued by her partners.
"Hi Charlie, I will take a martini please." Callie ordered. She looked to Arizona. "This beautiful lady here will need something as well. What are you drinking Arizona?" She asked with a smile.
"I will take a white wine please. Hard liquor is not a good idea for me. Things could get crazy." Arizona responded with a chuckle.
She has dimples. What the hell? Those dimples are honestly weapons. The eyes and dimples and blonde hair. How is this fair?!
"What is wrong with things getting crazy?" Callie asked. She was feeling brave.
"Oh, well I am trying to spare you the overly chatty overly friendly Arizona. We just met. No need to scare you away yet." Arizona said with a blush.
Their drinks were served, and Arizona went to hand Charlie a $50.
"No need to pay for these, everything in this room is comped to the hotel."
"Oh, okay. Well Charlie, please take this for yourself. I remember my bar tending days. Golfers can be jerks." Arizona said with a wink to Charlie.
"Thank you miss. Not all golfers. I am a pretty big fan of an up and coming female golfer. They say she is going to show these boys how it is done." Charlie said with a smile. He turned and walked into the back.
Callie had known Charlie since she was a young girl. He had been with The Calliope since it had opened. Arizona didn't even realize how much her interaction with Charlie had meant to Callie. It may sound silly but the staff at these hotels were her family. Callie was so use to people just treating the staff like they were a burden. One more check in the pro Arizona column.
Arizona POV
Arizona could not believe how nice the people here were. The compliment from Charlie and the delicious White Wine were just what she needed to start his evening. Pair that with Callie's presence and she was happy to be here.
"So, Calliope. Tell me, what exactly do you do for The Calliope? Mark told me earlier he was the manager. It is pretty clear where the name of the hotel and course came from. But, what do you do?" Arizona asked.
"Well, I am actually involved in the whole Torres Company business space. I started as a manager at a different one of our family hotel's and kind of worked my way up to being more of my dad's partner." Callie was sipping her Martini. I need to know what those lips taste like.
"Wow, that is impressive. I know The Torres Company has quite a few golf courses and hotels throughout the U.S. Actually, funny enough my first ever job was at a Torres course in Boston."
"Really? What a small world. Boston…hmmm. The Lucia?" Callie asked.
"Yup, that's the one! Timmy and I worked there for 3 years. It is actually where I taught myself to golf. We moved around a lot since my Dad was in the Army. We finally settled in Boston so Tim and I could go to just one high school. Sorry, I am rambling and sharing personal stuff. I will shut up now." Arizona rambled when she was nervous. She started drinking her wine so she would shut up.
Callie laughed that beautiful laugh. "Don't apologize. I am interested in personal things. Especially from people who treat our staff the way you treated Charlie. So please, tell me more."
"Oh. Um. What do you want to know?" Arizona asked sheepishly.
"Hmmmm. What does the famous Arizona do in her spare time? Don't say golf. I know that. But, when no one is around what does Arizona like to do?" Callie asked.
"I like to read. I know it sounds lame. I actually always thought I was going to be a doctor. So, I read a lot of medical stuff. I also like to travel when the LPGA isn't going on. Oh, and I like to dance!" Arizona was more than happy to get personal with the beautiful Latina.
"I love to dance. There is actually a club close to here that is great for dancing. We could go one night, if you want?" Callie asked.
Arizona just stood there. Did Callie just ask her out?
Callie's POV
Shit. Did I really just invite her dancing? I have known here for 5 minutes. She probably thinks I am a creep. Or a groupie. Do golfers have groupies?
"I mean. You don't have to. Sorry, that kind of just slipped out. Sorry. Don't feel obligated to answer." Callie rushed out.
"No, no. Calliope that would be fun. I am not entirely sure what the next few weeks look like in terms of free time. But I am interested. Super interested." Arizona smiled with a wink.
She has called me Calliope at least 3 times. Why am I not correcting her? I like how it sounds when she says it. It rolls off her tongue so naturally. I would like to see how else that tongue works naturally.
"Oh, yeah. Great. You can invite whoever you want. Your friends, boyfriend, girlfriend. Whatever" Callie responded. Smooth Torres.
"No boyfriends for me Calliope. Not since I was 14. No girlfriend at the moment either." Arizona responded. Full dimple smile. Again, with the damn dimples.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please everyone join us in the center of the room! We have an exciting announcement!" Carlos broke Arizona and Callie from their staring contest. Callie knew Arizona was gay. Mark said something about it earlier. She didn't know why she said that. Ugh, she felt stupid. Saved by her father. Who would have thought?
The group gathered around as Carlos announced that Arizona would now be sponsored by The Torres Company. There was laughing and cheers. Drinks were flowing, cigars were lit. The whole time Callie couldn't take her eyes off of Arizona.
"Torres. I see you and blondie had a chance to talk. So, what's the verdict?" Mark asked with his eyebrow raised.
"Mark, she is a golfer here for The Race. She is nice and obviously gorgeous. But nothing is going on. I did ask her if she wanted to go dancing. It was an accident, but she said yes." Callie rambled on.
"Ohh dancing. Torres you are playing dirty. You know how you are when you dance. Poor girl doesn't stand a chance."
"Mark. I was being friendly. She mentioned she liked to dance and it kind of just slipped out."
"I call dibs on joining for dancing. You two on the dance floor. HOT!"
"Go away ya perv." Callie pushed him away.
"Calliope, would you like a refill on your drink? I am headed back to the bar. Hoping maybe Charlie will want to tell me how awesome I am again." Arizona joked. Callie hadn't even realized Arizona approach. Shit how much had she heard?
"Uh, yeah sure! I will walk over with you." Callie gave Mark a look that said if you say anything, you are dead.
Arizona POV
They had 10 minutes before they had to be at the welcome dinner. Arizona wanted one more chance to talk to Callie in the more intimate setting. Teddy had already shot her multiple warning stares since she was introduced to Callie. Funny enough, Teddy and Tim seem to be off in their own little world, so she was free to sneak away and find Callie one more time.
As she walked up, she heard Mark say something about two people on the dance floor being hot. She had no idea what he was talking about, but since Callie had invited her dancing, she had a suspicion it may be about her. Callie had been a little flirty earlier Usually Arizona could tell if someone was interested right away, but she couldn't get a read on Callie yet. So, she asked her if she wanted to join her to get another drink at the bar.
"Talking to Mark about me and our dancing date I see." Arizona joked.
Callie's head whipped around "Oh, uh you heard that? Sorry. He was just interested in what we were talking about. He is pretty nosey. He also thinks he is cupid. So, you have to excuse him."
Callie talked really fast when she was nervous. Cupid, huh? Arizona thought to herself.
"Cupid? Is he trying to make a love connection here?" Arizona smiled.
"Oh, Um. Mark is uh. Yeah. He is always trying to set me up. Sorry if that statement made you uncomfortable." Callie's blush had spread from her chest up her face. Arizona decided to put her out of her misery. She grabbed their refills and handed Callie her Martini.
Arizona leaned in close to Callie and whispered. "Well. I didn't need an arrow from Mark to feel a connection. If it makes you feel better. I am very much looking forward to seeing you around the next few weeks."
Just then, Carlos called for everyone to move to the grand room for dinner.
Arizona looked over her shoulder as she started walking towards the grand room. Callie was just standing there. Had she over stepped? Shit. Oh well. At this point, it was out in the open. She would get to know Calliope Torres the next few weeks. That was one thing she was sure about. As she was rounding the corner, Callie was still staring at her. She couldn't resist. She looked right at Callie and gave her a flirty wink and dimple smile. Not staying around long enough to see her reaction.
What did you think of their first real meeting?
