Without Words
Yusei was out scavenging for duel disk parts and Crow was spending the day with his flock of kids. That left Kalin and Jack alone together in Team Satisfaction's hideout. Kalin was reorganizing his deck, while Jack was staring across the waters to the city he could not reach. Neither of them said a word. They did not have to. Their relationship had gotten to a point where silence between them was no longer awkward.
Jack glanced over, seeing Kalin try to decide on which trap cards he would keep in his deck. It was turning out to be slow day and part of Jack wanted to crawl back into bed. Just then, he noticed Kalin brush his hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes.
Jack's stomach churned at the sight of Kalin creasing himself. This had been happening more often than Jack would dare to admit.
It was like Kalin was enticing Jack with tosses of his hair, playful smirks and longing stares. But Jack was still unsure if Kalin was really trying to flirt with him or if it was all in his head. Jack, betting the odds, cautiously moved himself to sit next to Kalin on the floor, wondering if his leader would question him or make a snarky remark.
Instead, Kalin simply glanced at Jack, then went back to his cards.
As if irritated that Kalin had ignored his advances, Jack pushed his luck and repositioned his body so that his arm was propped up behind Kalin's back. The two stayed like that for sometime, until Kalin threw Jack for a loop. Kalin leaned back, his shoulders pressing against Jack's chest. Jack was screaming internally. He had not yet admitted to himself that he was attracted...that he had feelings for Kalin.
Jack lifted his hand up and wrapped his arm around Kalin's shoulders. It felt right for the two of them to be this close.
