Black Roses Red
Chapter 6
Author's Note : I'm so emotionally invested in this story already. Let me know what you think.? Review!
With her sons asleep down the hall. Having the bedroom to herself tonight. Julian was home after a business trip but he didn't make it to their doorstep right away.
At this hour. 10pm. He was probably at a bar, club, or high scale hotel. The last time Brooke recalled being touched or seen in a romantic loving way by her husband was 5 years ago.
Her sons are 10 now. So it's been a long time.
That final night together. He wasn't making eye contact. He barely touched me. He called out some other woman's name. When he eventually climbed off of me. He got out of bed and went to the bathroom. And called her.
I fell asleep that night knowing my husband was cheating on me. And i turned a blind eye. I ignored the red flags he set off when we were dating. When we got married he became someone new. As the years went on. And we had our sons.
I could feel myself being ripped apart piece by piece.
When i imagined how i would die. I figured Julian would do it. Without me and his sons he had nothing of value or purpose. No more pawn to play.
The day i feared had finally arrived. Julian had made a true attempt to take my life. I just wish Davis and Jude weren't around to witness it.
They had a void of human emotions for a father.
And a mother who waited too long to leave. They deserve more then that.
I failed them.
Tree Hill Hospital
Brooke sat up gasping. "Davis! Jude!" she yelled staring around the room she soon realized was the hospital.
Lucas grabbed ahold of her hand in his.
"They are safe in the waiting room. You were shot. And it was touch and go for awhile. But you're going to make a full recovery." Lucas informed her.
Brooke stared down at herself. Her body ached and she was so tired. There was IV in her arm. Machines beeping.
Brooke tried to take out her IV and get out of bed.
Lucas quickly stopping her. "You have to rest and recover. Those are doctor's orders." He stated.
"I can't afford a hospital stay. A hospital bill in general. I don't know what i'm going to do. Going back to that house is not an option. But i don't have any money. I haven't worked in years. Julian paid for everything." Brooke said. Looking away from Lucas.
She took a deep breath. "This is so humilating. I'm so stupid. Naive. Foolish. I cared more about the Davis name and reputation. More then what was right. I stayed in my marriage. Putting up a front to the world. That we were soulmates. What bullshit.!"
"None of this is you're problem. I will figure it out myself." Brooke proclaimed.
Lucas put his hand on hers. "I know. It's been a few years. Since we've been around each other. In the same town. But i have room. At my house. For you and the boys to stay. No time limits. You need to get you're life together. You, Jude and Davis need to heal emotionally and mentally."
"It's only me leaving there. I'll help in anyway i can. You are more then capable of doing this on you're own. Yet i'm offering you help. Whether or not you take it is you're choice. I'll bring the boys in." Lucas proclaimed.
Brooke was so touched by his officer. But at the moment her mind was racing. She couldn't make any decisions yet.
"Momma!" Davis and Jude proclaimed. As they rushed into the hospital room.
Brooke hugged them tightly. Tears spilling from her eyes. As she kissed the tops of their heads.
"My brave little men. I'm so proud of you. I'm so sorry you had to see any of that." Brooke said.
Visiting hours are ending. They can't stay here!" A voice proclaimed.
"We don't wanna go." Davis said.
"We want to spend the night and night and make sure you're okay." Jude added in.
"The two of you get comfortable. I'll talk to whoever is in charge." Lucas said.
Brooke wasn't aware what Lucas had said. All she knew was that her sons were able to be by her side for the full hospital stay. And her hospital bill was taken care of.
She couldn't of been more grateful.
"I don't exactly have a plan in place. I just know. I need to start over. Get better mentally and emotionally. For my sake and theirs." Brooke said. Looking to her sons.
"Make yourself at home." Lucas said. As the family entered his home.
